Large selection of used books, some newer titles, vintage LPs and collectible books. Staff is very friendly and attentive, used & collectible prices tend to be toward the higher end.

Such a great bookstore. Staff = friendly af. 10/10. Other customers = just as friendly. :) Bonus, pet friendly! My doggo and I browsed for a while and found some great gems!

Stopped by Book Alley on a Saturday morning and the place was busy with book lovers! There is a wide selection of books. The walkways are a bit narrow and the books on the floor don't help but you can still get by. Books inside the store were in good condition and some books are signed copied.

This is not a destination for someone with a mobility impairment that makes walking through very narrow aisles or stepping over/around boxes a difficult task. My dad uses a walker and he wouldn't be able to navigate this space. I enjoyed it though. I was able to pop in on my lunch hour and pick up a nice selection of postcards ($1 small, $1.50 large) and a book that was recommended by a staffer. So many interesting titles, all genres! I saw a few really fascinating one-of-a-kind used books that I would have probably picked up, too, but they were out of my budget at $50-$60 each. Cool vibe. Would make a fun date-night destination- especially with the awesome Blue Rooster art shop next door- and, if there is a coffee shop nearby that would be a really fun outing.

I am in love with this book store. I came in hoping to find some books I had been scouting...I found one! I'm so so happy with my copy :) I can't wait to come back and find more goodies.

Cute place! Lots of books and they accept donations of books as well. Plenty of street parking.

I was looking for children's books featuring black children as a birthday gift for a three year old and stopped Book Alley for the first time. The children's section is well labeled in the far left hand corner of the store. There were several black children's books on display and within the binds of the shelves. There was the Computer called Katherine book I was considering adding to the other three books I grabbed but when I finally decided on it as a book my goddaughter could grow into.... alas the patron next to me had scooped it up. And since I didn't challenge him to a thumb wrestle over the kids book I left with the three original books I had selected. Will definitely return for additional book purchases.

I LOVE IT HERE so cute and tiny but also grand GRAND selection and variety. Staff are so polite and helpful

I was also pleased to find the book, exactly as described and in better condition than I would have expected a used paper back book to be, published in 1977 some 41 years ago.

As one of the oldest independent bookstores in California, it has a really special charm. Inside, there's a wine bar, a coffee shop, and even a cute gift shop upstairs, which makes it easy to spend a lot of time browsing and relaxing. While I was there, I got to listen to an author present her book and answer questions, which added such a unique and memorable touch to the visit. The store was busy, and you could really feel how much people enjoyed being there. The layout is well organized, making it easy to find books by genre. Upstairs, there's a spacious children's section, which is great for families. I also loved the section featuring Orson Welles books and posters. It was a really cool and unexpected addition. Overall, Vroman's is more than just a bookstore as it's an experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The moment you walk through the door, you're surrounded by towering shelves and beautiful, chaotic stacks of books that feel lovingly curated rather than cluttered. It's the kind of space where time slows down and you forget about your phone because you're too busy discovering something unexpected. Every corner feels alive. The warm lighting, the golden walls, the endless spines of books -- it's cozy, nostalgic, and deeply comforting. You don't just shop here; you explore. And the owner? Truly an angel. Kind, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. You can feel how much heart and soul they've poured into this space. They don't just sell books -- they share stories, recommendations, and genuine warmth. The customer service alone makes you want to come back again and again. Housed inside a former bank, the space already carries this grand, historic energy that sets the tone before you even start browsing. What makes this place unforgettable is how it's designed to be explored, not rushed. There are cozy spots scattered throughout where you can sit and get lost in a book, but the real magic is upstairs. It opens into a maze of rooms, each with its own personality, filled with carefully arranged books that feel more like art than inventory. At times, it genuinely feels like you've wandered into a dream. One of the highlights is the famous tunnel of books, which adds to that surreal, almost cinematic experience. Everywhere you turn, books are used as decor in the most creative ways, and it creates this quiet moment where everything else fades out. Upstairs also holds one of my favorite parts, a row of art studios featuring work from local artists. Every piece feels intentional, unique, and thoughtfully placed. Right nearby, there's a small coffee shop surrounded by beautiful artwork, making it an easy place to pause and take it all in. This isn't a quick stop kind of place.
