I was recommended to come try Talina in Babylon. I made reservations for my cousin and I in advance and glad we did. When we walked in there was a name tag on our reserved table which was nice. Place is not that large but makes it feel like a cozy place in Italy. Drinks we did an aperol spritz and the movala martini. We started with the crostini appetizer - delicious. Went overboard with the ordering since I wanted to try a lot of the pasta dishes. We ordered the Gnocchi Taleggio Radicchio E Rucola which were incredible pillow, soft , potato gnocchi in a cheese sauce, sautéed radicchio and arugula.We also ordered the Strozzapreti Gratinati -Hand rolled pasta twists with sausage ragu , arugula and toasted bread crumbs. Food and drinks are always good. Service is good. Menus were dirty and sticky and looked like tomato sauce was splattered on the wall. Water glasses should not be rim side down sitting on a dirty table where people put their hands and now I have to put my mouth on the glass and drink from it. Just need to clean better. read more

Living locally over in West Islip, I was a once-a-week regular at Talina Osteria and frequently recommended it to friends. Unfortunately, after the terrible customer service my wife and her group experienced during their 5:00 PM dinner today, we will absolutely not be returning. The staff was incredibly rude and repeatedly rushed the group, harassing them about a strict 1 hour and 45-minute table limit. What makes this completely illogical is that there were at least five open tables in the dining room at the time. Instead of letting paying customers relax, enjoy their evening, and spend more money on drinks, management actively chose to push them out the door. To make matters worse, when my wife respectfully approached the owner to explain that we are loyal weekly customers and felt the staff was being hostile, he was entirely dismissive and couldn't have cared less. It is amazing that an owner would rather throw out regulars than fill empty tables. Extremely disappointing experience--save your money and go somewhere that actually values its patrons. read more

Chef Brittany does it again, consistently serving up delicious dishes that keep us coming back. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary, and the success is well-deserved. My husband had the gnocchi, while I went with the hand-rolled pasta twists topped with a sausage ragu. Perfection. We also enjoyed the Grigliatta Mista, which is always my favorite. We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and capped the night with stewed pears and vanilla gelato, followed by smooth espresso martinis. Came in on a Friday night without reservations and luckily there were seats available at the bar. The place is small and intimate. The added plus about this place is that they have a small parking lot in the back - since it does get quite difficult to find street parking in the village. We ordered the Nud flatbread, Eggplant, Tomato and Onion gratin, tagliatelle ragu and strozzapreti gratinati pasta. The Nud flatbread almost reminded me of a quesadilla which was a bit weird but it was still good. The pasta was definitely the star of the meal. You can taste how fresh and homemade the pasta is. I didn't feel overstuffed eating the pasta as sometimes it can be a bit too heavy and you feel like you have to take a nap after. This place is a hidden gem in Babylon! It's north of the rest of the restaurants so unless you can get a spot in the small lot behind it, parking is horrific but the food was absolutely phenomenal and so were the drinks! I had the mo va la and then the two specials for the week-the cucumber sangria and amaretto espresso martini. The first two were very light and refreshing-great for a hot summer day-despite it being cold and raining when I went. My friends and I split all the food so we got the mortadella piadina, 3 pastas-lemon ravioli, pasta with ragu & the pasta with spinach, then the rosemary potatoes and zucchini. Dessert was the hazelnut gelato. Every dish was better than the next and you can tell everything was fresh. I would get everything again except maybe the potatoes. They did nothing for me. I would have preferred some type of bread to go with the pasta though. The place is a little uncomfortably small inside but super cute. It's so different and so many things to look at. The bar was a great size. We only had to wait a few minutes for our reservation so we ordered some drinks at the bar. Their cocktail menu is unique and had a lot of great choice. Their wine list was also very different and we didn't have a lot of knowledge about the reds they had. The bartender gave some great recommendations and the wine was awesome. It paired very well with our food. We had the crostini and the fasul alla faetanini appetizer. They were great. Full of flavor. We also had the strozzapreti with sausage , tagliatelle with traditional ragù and they even had a fresh gluten free option for our friend. Which we were pleasantly surprised by and very happy about.
