A friend told me about this new restaurant in downtown Babylon, so we tried it tonight. fantastic! we drove down from Huntington, and found out that we needed to make a reservation two weeks in advance. But we lucked out and got a table at the last minute. We started with Piadina Romagnola, a flatbread filled with Prosciutto di Parma, Stracchina cheese and arugala, a delicious homemade bolognese type pasta, and the fried turkey cutlet with arugala, lemon and shaved parmiagiana with roasted Rosemary potatoes. We ended with pears stewed in red wine and spices w vanilla gelato and chocolate espresso mousse. Yummmmmmm! The waiters, we had two, were extremely attentive, service was great. read more

Absolutely a hidden gem! Don't get discouraged bybthe facade, this place has the charming touch from Italy. Service is impeccable and ready to satisfy your palate. Cocktails are delicious (ask for the latest creations) waitresses not overwhelming and ready to serve and make suggestions if needed. A bit pricey but not to the roof. We were so happy with our dining experience at Talina's. The menu is perfectly tailored for a great night out. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and the atmosphere feels like you flew to Italy for the night. The decor is gorgeous and the service was GREAT. This is actually an authentic Italian restaurant! We had wine, so can't comment on the cocktails but their presentation looked fabulous from what we saw at another table. The espresso martini's were incredible! Four of us dined here on a Saturday night. We had a 7 PM reservation and were seated a few minutes afterwards. Ambiance is lovely --cozy and inviting -- as if you were in a courtyard somewhere in Italy. It took a little while to get drinks but they were delicious --especially the smoked apple cinnamon old fashioned. Food-wise we started off with the bean appetizer along with the gnocchi in a cheese sauce and the pasta twists with sausage ragu. All three items were so tasty and flavorful and we all agreed that the quality was first-rate. Next we shared a medium-sized grilled meat board which also included vegetables. The sausage was a bit overcooked but the board as a whole was very very good. The chocolate mousse and pear desserts were also tasty and our server was lovely and patient and she very much added to our outstanding experience at Talina. Service was absolutely amazing, super quick and the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was of some of the highest quality I've seen in a while, as I had gotten the grilled shrimp dish, which I highly recommend. The drinks presentation matched how well they were crafted, as the espresso martini is to die for. The ambiance was very nice as well, the interior decoration is meticulous and very welcoming. This was probably the best pasta dish I've ever eaten! Food tasted so fresh and had so much authentic flavor. The really cute interior added to the enjoyable experience. it was worth t wait to get a reservation @ Talina. The food and service were excellent. Our waitress, Anna could not have been nicer helping us decide on things to order. Went to Talina with a group of friends on the same day that Newsday had reviewed it as one of LI's best Italian restaurants. It was fabulous. The restaurant is somewhat small but has great charm. Our server was wonderful. So friendly and helpful with explaining the various meals. Believe me, this is not your typical chicken parm and spaghetti restaurant. The Pasta was homemade and delish. Everyone had something different and each raved about their meal. Don't miss this one. read more

Everything was great until we were asked to leave at 8pm from our 6:30 reservation. We were told there was a two hour time limit and that the next table was waiting, We had just paid our $400 tab and took the last sip of our drinks. Someone claiming to be the manager came over to tell us this. When I couldnt help myself to address this he offered up a gift card. I do not want your gift card because I will never be back. What a terrible unappreciative establishment. You may be popular now but good luck with that type of service! I promise to tell everyone I know about this too and hope the word spreads! Food was great, it's the service that needs improvement. I felt very rushed since the moment I entered the door. Immediately upon sitting down they asked for our drink order and within a minute asked what we wanted as an appetizer and entree. We were told the appetizers and entrees have to be ordered at the same time (to get people out the door quickly). Within a half hour we were done with our meal because the food was being thrown at as. The owner mentioned another reservation for the table. I would not go back, it's a niche spot but the menu is super small and the lack of service is disappointing. The owner is not very personable and did not want to engage with us much. read more

O M G! Amazing. This place knocked it out of the park in all aspects - the food, staff, drinks, aesthetic. Everything is truly amazing. The staff was attentive without being too in your face, everyone was super nice, the cocktails were phenomenal and the food was even better if that's possible. * Went to Talina yesterday 6:45 reservations. Waited 6 weeks for a party of 8 to get in which was fine being we all wanted to try the place. Got there 10 minutes early and were sat immediately. Place was nice but not much else was great after that. We ordered drinks for the table, before we even got them we were asked a minimum of 3 times if we were ready to order. Told the server we were waiting on drinks and hadn't even looked at the menu yet, we'd only been there a few minutes. He stayed there til we ordered apps, again we hadn't even gotten our drinks yet. After we got our drinks, we were asked several more times if we were ready to order dinner. We've been in the place a total of about 15 minutes at this point. We got the apps about 5 minutes after ordering and while eating apps was asked again to order. At that point everyone just picked something to order to get it over with. Asked the server why such a rush and was actually told they have another reservation at 9:15! It was probably only a little after 7 at this point. We finished apps and about 7 minutes after that dinner arrived. Couldnt believe how fast. Bus boys were taking plates away without asking and before people were finished. Drink orders and bread orders were messed, they bought us the correct order but atill charged us for the wrong ones. We've never felt so rushed at any restaurant. Over $700 later no dessert or coffee because everyone was so annoyed and we were pretty much done in 45 minutes. Best of all they bring the check and say no rush. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. Zero flaws in any of the food or drinks but the owner/bartender was the most unpleasant and disgustingly racist human I have ever encountered. I came in as soon as they opened, he told me they were fully booked so I couldn't get a table without a reservation. Fine, I told him I'd happily eat at the bar.. He then told me that they didn't start serving food for another hour. I told him I'd just have a few drinks until then. He looked so annoyed as he threw a drink menu my way. I looked down at the bar and I saw another couple already being served food. When I asked about it, I was told they were 'special guests..' Minutes later, other patrons arrived and their food orders were taken immediately. I guess everyone but the lone black girl was considered special? Eventually, a server came and took my order as well but it was clear to me that he LIED about when their kitchen opened in hopes that I would just leave. I almost did but I traveled an hour by train and I had a friend meet me there so I stuck it out. Such a shame that this place is run by such a Scrooge. read more
