Tasty food, the most tasty in Huntington Village. The eggplant is on point ! I highly suggest trying it. The inside is incredibly decorative, you feel like you have morphed into Tuscany ! Love the decor, the vibe and great service - such an amazing experience.
Restaurant Joanina is a classic Italian restaurant located in Huntington Village. When it comes to Italian restaurants in Huntington Village, there are plenty of choices . However, Joanina is the clear winner. Whenever my wife and I are in Huntington Village We always make it a point to visit restaurant Joanina. The decor invokes the feel of a classic Tuscan villa. The Bar area has ample seating. The dining room is quaint , possibly a bit cramped on a busy night. The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. When Seated you are provided with a complementary bread basket containing fine Tuscan Italian bread and delicious garlic knot and olive oil. We started with a few fine craft cocktails. For dinner this visit I went with the Tortellini Rosa. It was fantastic. A delicious pink sauce draped the ricotta filed tortellini. My wife had the Cavatelli Bolognese. It arrived steaming hot in a mild red meat sauce. She described it as absolutely delicious. When you are in Huntington Village I suggest you skip the cookie cutter commercial Italian restaurants and enjoy the real thing .
5+ stars!! We walked in during the week for an early dinner. No reservations, no problem! The restaurant was beautiful! I loved the atmosphere and the decor. Slightly dark and romantic. We ordered drinks and were talking so much that we didn't look at the menu, the waiter was kind and let us be. For the appetizer we shared the grilled artichokes and they were by far the best I've ever had. We also dug into the bread which was delicious. I got a pasta dish with tomato, shrimp and pesto. The pasta was handmade. I loved it and I'm still thinking about it. I really want to have that dish again and again. My friend just wanted pasta with garlic and oil, it was not on the menu but of course they accommodated her . My other friend had lasagna and liked it. By the time we were finished, every table was full. I definitely will be back as soon as possible and I will try to get a different dish but it's going to be really hard not to order the same one! Might have to go back multiple times!!
This place is special. The decor makes you feel like you are eating in Italy! We came most recently around the holidays and they decorated so beautifully. The food is always top notch. My favorite is the margherita pizza, but honorable mention goes to the chicken francese! They also bring out a beautiful bread basket with amazing mini garlic knots. And the service is always excellent. You cannot go wrong when you eat at Restaurant Joanina!
Absolutely loved my dinner at Joanina's! The fresh pasta was incredible--I had the Tortellini Rosa and the sauce was rich, creamy, and so flavorful. Cozy atmosphere, great service, and everything tasted homemade. Can't wait to go back!
Located on Gerard Street in Huntington Village, Joanina's Restaurant offers the perfect dining experience. The food, service, and ambiance were all exceptional. My companion and I sampled the Bolognese and Filet of Sole oreganata, both of which were delectable.
Well I said I be back and here I am. Just like previously we were seated right away and brought into the part of the restaurant where you feel like you're in Italy and you can view flat bread being made. George our waiter placed a bread basket on the table a too drink orders. The impeccable service did not stop there as it continued through out the meal which consisted of having the most delicious clams and mussels app again, Pork Osso Buco, and Shrimp and White beans. What can I say another enjoyable dining experience.
Absolutely amazing! I've been wanting to stop by here for some time now and regret not coming in sooner. My husband wanted to try Farm Italy but Joanina had been calling my name for a year now. He reluctantly agreed came in on a busy Saturday night no reservation. Initially told an hour wait but they were able to seat us in this look nook area within minutes and I absolutely loved this little intimate cozy spot. I love margaritas initially I wasn't going to get one and was going to stick to wine but my husband ordered one as I stepped out to get something from the car. This is now one of my fav places for a good marg! I ended up having 4 usually it's 2 max! We started with a app special burrata, artichokes and peppers and yum yum so delicious! We decided to split a pasta and meat yikes incredibly good! I mean just outstanding pork with eggplant, prosciutto and mozz over a Marsala sauce oh my just incredible! Pasta another hit too perfect amount of cream just a touch and those mushrooms yum! We ended up going back a week later and I went with their bolognese another amazing hit! I also had their creamy burrata with prosciutto just so good. My goal is to try everything on their menu! Their pizzas look amazing too so looking forward in trying them.
The best Italian food Long Island has to offer! Tastes very similar to the restaurants in Italy. It's beautifully decorated inside with plates and pieces of Italian culture. New favorite place for sure!
Came here for a baby shower. I have never heard of It before because I don't goto Huntington much but It was sooo delicious! The portions were a huge size & we got to try a variety of the food. My favorite was probably the pasta pomodoro, and the antipasto. I will definitely go back!
The food is delicious and unpretentious. The presentation is rustic and I love the kitschy atmosphere/ ambiance. It's a good place to take your parents or grandparents. The service is friendly. I would return if I was in the neighborhood but nothing in particular stood out. The artichokes were well dressed. The pistachio cake was decadent and enough to share with someone. I enjoyed the pizza but the dough was lacking flavor and the texture was off. The toppings on the pizza were definitely delicious. Lastly our chicken and potatoes with sausage with a hearty delicious dish, I wish it was charred more in their oven but otherwise it tasty.

When you walk in, the bar is to your right and the back is where the event was held. It's intimate and the ambiance has a cute charm with the yellow walls. If this is on their regular menu, I'd suggest you try it. The "melanzane al forno" which is eggplant baked with tomato basil sauce topped with ricotta salata. I do not like eggplant and will never have ordered it but this didn't taste or feel like eggplant! It was delish! The salmon and their coffee is also a must have!
If you're looking for the feel of Italy, but don't want to leave Long Island, I suggest that you pay a visit to Restaurant Jaonina, in Huntington. As soon as we sat down they brought over a bread basket with hot & delicious garlic knots along with Tuscan bread & olive oil. I've found that over my many years of dining, that restaurants that serve a great bread basket always follow it up with great food, and this was true with Joanina. The restaurant has a nice selection of wines, and we ordered 2 glasses of a light, crisp and refreshing Gavi from the Piemonte region in Italy. For appetizer, we shared thinly sliced baked eggplant covered with ricotta salata & a sublime pomodoro basil sauce. The dish was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately I couldn't wait to dig my fork into it, and forgot to take a picture. For entrees I ordered a cavatelli bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the meat sauce has the authenticity of any pasta you would taste in Italy. My wife ordered, for her entree, pollo con carciofi. This was tender chicken breast piled high with artichoke hearts, Parma prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, & white wine & lemon francese sauce. The side dish were a bunch of farm fresh vegetables. My wife was blown away as to how delicious this dish was. For dessert we shared a scrumptious and creamy toasted coconut tiramisu. Service throughout our dinner was outstanding, with special accolades to our server Amy ( I hope I got her name correct). She was very knowledgeable, and made a couple of outstanding recommendations. In summary, we had an excellent meal coupled with outstanding service what more can you ask for? MANGIA! I've lived near Huntington for my whole life and only came here for the first time recently. It's a very cozy family restaurant that I would like to return to! As previous reviews mention, the inside is decorated to look like you're on a patio in Tuscany. It's deceptively large inside, and we sat all the way at the back around the corner. The waitstaff were very efficient and pleasant, giving my boyfriend and I time to look over the menu but coming soon after we'd set them down on the table. After some complimentary bread and very tasty garlic knots, we started with one of their appetizer specials to share, and were very pleased with it. It had fresh grilled Italian sausage served over garlicky cannellini beans and broccolini. Everything was balanced and well prepared. For our dinner we both got pasta; I got the butternut squash agnolotti (de zucca) with butter and sage, and he got the ricotta cavatelli bolognese. The bolognese was delicious, but I felt like the squash agnolotti needed something else to make it a proper dinner. The filling is just squash puree, no cheese, and the melted butter sauce is very very decadent. I would get something a bit more filling next time, but other than that I enjoyed my meal and our experience! read more
What a wonderful dinner experience we had last night. The cocktails were amazing. For appetizers we had the minestrone soup and artichokes which were absolutely delicious. For dinner we had the salmon and a pasta dish with mushrooms and arugula with a cream sauce that was awesome. The waiter and staff were outstanding as well. read more

New Favorite Restaurant! Amazing food, service, and ambiance. We walked in with a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. They gave us the perfect table tucked away in the corner which was nice and romantic for our belated valentines dinner. Our server, Douglas, had a perfect bold red wine recommendation, a Super Tuscan. We had the special baked oysters and burrata(stracciatella) as appetizers. Highly highly recommend the burrata which comes with prosciutto and toast. We had the special filet mignon and special ravioli which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We were too full to order dessert but were graciously surprised with a complimentary tiramisu. By far the best tiramisu I've ever had. I cannot give this place enough praise. We will be returning. Two policies for our family dinners that may seem unreasonable to some: I am granted photo-taking time and everyone gives me a cut of their entrees (I do offer to share but will confess to a trade imbalance). At Restaurant Joanina, picture rights were more important than usual given some colorful juxtapositions, but trade policies were tweaked slightly, with a tacit understanding that sampling was still legal but at a lower volume. I enjoyed the pasta special with tomatoes and shrimp with a nice hit of garlic. Artichoke fans are in luck, with the vegetable starring in an appetizer and co-headlining a pesto-laden fusilli entree. Lots of fine moments all around from the grilled bread that accompanied the speck to the pistachio crust on the salmon. The service was friendly and efficient, with prompt attention to water glasses and other details. read more

For my brother's birthday, he chose this great restaurant (after much obsessive Yelp research). When we arrived, I was stunned by the warm decor. It was crowded and we didn't have a reservation, but the hostess graciously gave us a perfect table near the front. The service is amazing!!! I always notice places that refill the water often (because most places are not good about that). Since I usually only drink water, anyway I was impressed by this attentive part of the service. They brought bread right away and the little garlic knots were outstanding. The server told us all the specials. For an appetizer, we had mushroom pizza. My dad ordered the special of bronzino. My brother and I ordered chicken dishes, and my mom had minestrone soup. We all loved the food, ambiance, and service. There were several birthday celebrations going on. There's a nice bar area, and if you want to avoid a crowd for dinner-- at 7:30 I noticed many tables had finished. Now I know why this place is so popular! Parking available too. read more
High quality food plus excellent service equals an outstanding dining experience. This is exactly what we had at Joanina's last night! Celebrating my son and his fiancé's upcoming wedding, we had dinner here on a busy Saturday night. After ordering wine and cocktails, we started off with the eggplant appetizer along with dishes of goat cheese, sopressata, and olives. This along with the garlic knots and bread was a great way to kick off dinner. Our entrees ranged from pasta dishes of lasagna and butternut squash ravioli, to veal scaloppine Milanese, and pistachio crusted salmon. We all thought our food was delicious! Finishing off the meal with cappuccinos and desserts was the final touch. If you're going to be in Huntington and you're looking for a great place to eat, make a reservation for Joanina's! read more

Driven by a million times and finally got to experience Joanina. Met up with a few girlfriends, out for a nice dinner. The hostess stand is located past the bar, on the right hand side. Our party was seated in the other room, facing the pizza oven. We had a very nice server. I cannot remember his name but he was extremely patient with my group. Everyone in my party had ordered something different, so it was great to see the presentation of so many plates. I had ordered Veal Paillard, which looked scrumptious but tasted a bit off. I decided to not say anything. I mean, veal is on the menu, so it should be stocked frequently. Maybe it was just me. I viewed the menu previously, so I was patiently waiting for dessert, Almond Tiramisu! All in all, A+ for service B for food read more
Came in for a Saturday night dinner party of six. Reservations definitely needed the place was crowded. Parking is a bit rough on the weekend. Appetizers were amazing, ordered the cold seafood salad, cheese board, zucchini flowers and the mussel and clams in sauce. Plentiful, perfectly cooked. And a complimentary white truffle pizza, was so tasty. Delicious! Onto dinner the group had the bronzino and the pork chops. Everyone loved their meal, decent portion, and cooked just right. The service was top notch, they didn't push us out, but checked in frequently. Def do recommend this place. Ambiance is bit noisy, but we loved it. read more

Wow what a gem! Not only the taste was on par with the Italian restaurants in Manhattan, the service was great too. The four of us shared the following: -melanzane al pomodoro e basílico (eggplant): we started with this as the appetizer - it was delicious and filling Then we order the following entrees: - linguine vongole: the homemade pasta was so fresh and light. Definitely don't miss this dish! - halibut oreganata: a great dish but parts of the fish was slightly over cooked - scaloppine rustica (veal): wonderful flavor and the meat was very tender and juicy - anatra arrosto (duck): probably one of my favorite dishes of the night Ended the night with some deserts and coffee. You should prepare to come here on an empty stomach! read more
