La Piazza is a standout in the area. Their patio happy hour this summer is a steal with $1 raw clams, and $1.50-2.50 oysters. Their patio in the front is adorable. The service was wonderful here- we were helped by Jose who had the best personality. The food was delicious- thoroughly enjoyed their crab cakes and peach/burrata crostini. My only criticism is that the house salad was $17, which felt a bit overpriced for the portion size--I wish it had been larger for the price. I'd never heard of this place until my siblisngs suggested it as a possible venue for an event. Apparently you locals love this place, and I ca n see why! It's been here for decades, and it seems rather non-descript from the front, but the interior - and more importantly - the food is fabulous. We arranged an event here to celebrate Mom's birthday, and relatives from near and far came. Parking was easy and the staff greeting everyone in a friendly and professional manner and directed to the back patio where our event was. The placesettings were meticulously laid, and the servers were extra attentive, even remembering everyone's drink orders. I attended a luncheon party held in a separate room, which was perfect, off the restaurant. The restaurant is nicely decorated and welcoming. Upon entering, I was pleasantly greeted by the hostess escorting us to the party room. The rolls/bread basket accompanied a fresh salad as an appetizer. Followed by a delicious eggplant parmigiana. Dessert consisted of a slice of birthday cake with a scoop of pistachio ice cream and coffee. The food was yummy and service was nice. What a great find this restaurant was and alot nicer inside then expected. When we came to this spot for lunch we were expecting a typical La Piazza, as they have numerous locations; however, this was a nice resturant which was nicely decorated. Got a personal pie and salad to split. Both were delicious and came out quick. Staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a nice bar area also, which looked like a defent happy hour spot. Great experience! Definitely going to come back a second time. Party of eight we had an early dinner. Service was attentive and thorough. The waiter recommended two appetizers which were easiest serve shared between a group our size. The calamari and the fried zucchini. 7.5out of 10 on both. Appreciated the recommendation. I had an old-fashioned with Rye whiskey. Could use a little work. 6.5 out of 10. The real crown in achievement was the main course. I asked the Waiter for his opinion between two dishes and he insisted on one of them. I then asked to follow up question regarding another dish that I had been looking at and he still insisted on his original recommendation. He mentioned that it might take a little bit longer because it required a reduction of the sauce. I decided to go with his recommendation of the chicken scarpariello. Before I tell you how delicious it is, to improvements that could be made. The chicken was a little tough. I would like to see what it could be like with chicken thigh instead of chicken breast. If that's an option, I would've chosen the chicken thigh. And the potatoes, I wish they were cut a little thicker. But I'm gonna give this a solid 9 out of 10. Great recommendation! Portions are incredibly small and overpriced. Especially the pastas. Food is decent but not worth the price. If they improved their portion size it would be a solid take out option. I can't understand why they don't. Many people don't order from here because of portion size. Pasta is one of the cheapest cost of goods items. So easy and is not costly to them to make portion sizes bigger. read more

I have been to La Piazza a few times in the past so this past saturday we decided to go again since it's been awhile. we were a party of three and made a reservation for 8:30. The food and beverages as always was great. They had a special offering of Prisoner wine by the glass instead of buying a bottle. i fully took advantage and brought two glasses. But sadly our evening was ruined when the waiter not the host proceeds to come over around 9:40 to tell us that the restaurant is closing and we have to settle the bill !! we just about finished our main course and was not even offered dessert, also our guest just received her 2nd drink. i ask him politely why are we asked to leave when their website and yelp both have 11 as their closing time. ( i checked before i made the reservation because i understand how frustrating it gets when guest stay later ) He tells us that lately it's been very slow and that they are closing at 10 !!! I would have preferred to be informed before we sat down and then we could've made a decision to stay or go. Needless to say, we stopped eating. my wife and i upset and our guest now proceeds to quickly finish her just received drink while i pay the bill. We go out almost every weekend to different restaurants and i am in the business as well and we have never been treated like this. I would never treat anyone like this. So we get up and leave and i ask the host why closing early when the website says 11. she tells me that it's 10 with no further explanations. once again communication would have been appreciated from the beginning. The problem was it was served like warm. Our dinners that we ordered , the same ! Not warm at all , no slight vision of steam , zilch . They had a line for valet so took a while to get in. Place was packed on a Saturday night. To start off we received complimentary bread. We ordered a bunch of apps but only took a few pics. Apps portion sizes were small so keep that in mind when sharing. We got the burrata which was really good. Shrimp cocktail was okay but that's usually how it is. Pieces of shrimp were big. The stuffed mushrooms were really good and flavorful. No pics because we ate them too fast. The pizza was good. Kids loved it. I got the bunless burger. It has no taste. No flavor. Not even salt. I took a bite of my husbands roasted chicken which was so so good. Very moist and flavorful. I would definitely get that next time. My friend had the chicken and sausage. Also very good and it was a big portion. For dessert I got the coffee, and it was so cute with the "me and you" message one it. I went to La Piazza for the first time today for a post-funeral luncheon. We were in a private room with one waiter assigned to us, a party of 30 people. His name was Jose (no way Jose!) and he was fantastic. He was very professional, friendly and responsive to our every request. The food was delicious. Our menu choices were eggplant parmigiana, grilled salmon, chicken piccata and shrimp scampi. Everyone was happy with their choices. We were served bread baskets full of hot delicious garlic knots! And scrumptious tiramisu for dessert. I will definitely return to La Piazza under happier circumstances next time. read more

Average food at best however highly priced. Fried calamari was cold and chewy (definitely frozen) and my entrées both barely warm. Highlight of dinner was our server Tracy. She's truly a blessing for this establishment, thus 3 stars. Honestly speaking, will not be back. One appetizer, two entrées and a bottle of wine with tax and tip is $170. Came here for my father in laws birthday. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was good. Food was good, but honestly there's a lot of better places in the same price range. We had the clams, they were good, veal Milanese- hubby wasn't in love. I had the pork chops- good. Everyone said the same- pizzeria quality but fine dining prices. Horrible to go food and a very distasteful manager. My food was half the portion and my garlic bread was burnt. I also ordered garlic knots that were freezing cold fresh out the bag. Only offered a "credit " for the garlic bread so I can only spend money with them. Manager on the phone did not give her name and didn't to apologize for the poor customer service and horrible food. I am a server/bartender in a restaurant and I know how customer service is supposed to be. I also know about the prejudices in a lot of restaurants. No thanks will never spend my money here again. Very disappointed with our experience at the restaurant. My wife ordered the Chicken Franchise it came with rice but we asked for pasta instead. They told us it would cost extra because the don't substitute so she had to pay extra $10 for a very small portion of pasta so she paid $26 for 2 pieces of chicken and $10 for a very small amount of pasta . The dinner definitely not worth $36. I don't understand their policy's how hard is it to just replace the rice I thought most Italian places serve pasta not rice with Chicken Franchise. La Piazza Check your bill... Recently attended a holiday get together at the Melville restaurant. We had over fifteen in our party and we all enjoyed our cocktails and dinner. When we received the bill we asked our server if the tip was included and he said "No, it was not included". Upon further investigation we found the gratuities were added in at the bottom of the bill. That left a bad taste in our mouth after a great meal. read more

Food was ok but there is a restaurant policy here that I have never encountered anywhere I have eaten - I ordered a dish that came with a side of rice - I wanted to substitute it for a vegetable and was refused - was told it was an up charge. I was also told that I could substitute a starch for a starch or a vegetable for a vegetable but not one for the other. I think that's ridiculous and I think it's the restaurant not being flexible to its customers - especially at the prices they charge - I even spoke to the manager - who didn't even blink an eyelash to help me. We got takeout tonight. The service at the pickup window was brusque and impatient, deduct a half star for attitude. Customers should be made to feel welcome, even if it's a takeout order. You want to treat people well so they come back. These days, it's expensive to eat out, so people are quick to take their business elsewhere if the experience isn't to their liking. We ordered Penne a la Vodka, it was not a creamy pink sauce and had mostly onion flavor. My husband enjoyed it but it was not what I was expecting and I was very disappointed. The portion size was also very small. Do not expect to be served a pound of pasta. This is not the restaurant for that, but plenty of other places that do for $22. The meatballs with ricotta were very tasty and the sauce was ample and delicious. The Mozzarella wedges were also delicious and they came with a marinara dipping sauce. They also included 2 pieces of what looked like mini italian bread loaves that were great for mopping up any extra sauce that remained on the plate. Overall, there are some better places and some worse. If you consider yourself a connoisseur of Italian cuisine, this one is worth a skip. I may come back in the future if i am in the area, if there are some good specials, or for lunch. I wouldn't return for dinner. 3 stars. read more
