Visited last month for dinner. Also came here once before for a weekend lunch. Food is pretty standard New American food. Portions are generous and the best dish of the night was the Dancing Shrimp appetizer (fried shrimp wrapped in kataifi). Overall, wouldn't mind coming back here if in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to visit. One of the best features of the restaurant is the ambiance accompanied by good service. A really great American fare spot. Solid food and service was excellent. I would bring my girlfriends for a girls night out or my family for a special occasion dinner to celebrate. 5 stars for me. Popular place on a Thursday night for this area. Welcoming vibe, great bar. Was craving ribs on my last night in town for work and this was the place. Great ribs and killer dirty sauce. The sauce was flavor forward and not sugar reliant. And they weren't overly sauced, a bit messy, but nothing a couple wet naps couldn't handle. Subbed honey roasted potato's for the side and they low key almost starred in the dish. This place is doing something right. On the spur of the moment a friend and I were looking for a place half-way between our homes on a Thursday night. While I had heard great things about this restaurant, I hadn't been in yet. I'm sure glad we chose to come here. Since I'm perpetually early, I went to have a beer at the bar while waiting and had a chance to peruse the happy hour menu. Lots of good stuff here including many beers and cocktails. This menu is available until 6 pm during the week. Bartender was a doll and gave me the skinny on all her favorites for both the happy hour and regular menus. Bar seats maybe 15 people and a tv above will keep a solo flyer busy for a bit. Once my buddy arrived, we were seated in the dining room toward the back. A great space able to seat many patrons. Larger groups can easily be accommodated. Our server Zack was awesome and came by just often enough. He also did a great job spacing out our courses so as not to overload our table. We started with soup and then had one of the starts of the evening- sliced seared tuna. This was a reco from the earlier mentioned bartender and it was a super home run. So were the Bang Bang Tacos. ( another reco from our great bartender food guru.) My friend said his salmon was good but not great and I had a burger that Zack recommended. Cooked perfectly, juicy and delicious, this was an incredible burger and I could have taken at least half home. I didn't because it was so good and I felt stuffed when it was finished. We didn't stop there though - the dessert menu looked awesome and I wasn't going to miss it. Came here with the family for brunch. We had a large table and the staff was very nice and accommodating to all of us. I ordered the French Toast Dippers. They were large cubes of French Toast with sides of lingenberry and Nutella sauce. I also tried one of the Buffalo wings, and I thought they were really good! I normally don't order wings for brunch, but I would definitely order these. The restaurant is pretty large and spacious, and the decor is modern. The service was a bit slow-we waited forever for the food (even though there wasnt too much people) and it was, mid. For apps we tried the grilled octopus which sauce lacked flavor. The nachos were okay but not evenly layered. Their specialty, beef Wellington, was okay but nothing to write home about. The pork chop was the best thing, but the sweet potato mash and sauce came with a slightly sour taste. So I'm not sure if its good enough to return since theres a lot of better options food and price wise. read more

I've been here numerous times. The food is phenomenal every time. Portions are huge and shareable. We always have leftovers. There's a parking lot but it is always full so be sure to arrive early. Highly recommend making reservations in advance to avoid a long wait. We went for brunch and there were multiple menus given (brunch, lunch, seasonal specials) It was a little overwhelming at first but there was something for everyone! We ordered the following- - Fried pickles to start. 10/10 lightly breaded and perfectly fried served with their house made ranch dressing. - Full rack dirty bbq ribs with onion rings and house Cole slaw. 10/10 the ribs were amazing. The meat is so tender and flavorful. Even as leftovers the next day, it tasted amazing. - My friends ordered to Pork Osso Bucco and the Cherry Pepper Marsala and both loved their dishes. - For dessert, the server recommended the Cinnamon Apple Explosion and it did not disappoint! My daughter, who works near this restaurant, recommended we go here one day while we were visiting L.I. in July. Sadly, she couldn't accompany us for lunch, but we went anyway, and we were so glad we did. EXCELLENT CHOICE !!! We walked in right as they opened at 12pm. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, very spacious both in terms of building size, as well as the space in between the tables. Very nice bar area, too. The chairs were very comfortable ! As for the food, it was terrific. My husband ordered a BLTB sandwich, which was a BLT sandwich with the addition of brie cheese and garlic aioli. The bacon itself looked to be of superior quality and cut. Definitely NOT the typical shriveled up pieces that one typically gets. Instead, the slices were thick and meaty. My husband devoured his sandwich and said it was likely the BEST BLT sandwich he's had. As for me, I don't eat bacon, so I couldn't see for myself, but it certainly looked delicious. I myself got their Greek salad with grilled chicken. To say that it was a huge salad is an understatement. I got 2.5 servings out of it easily. Chicken was well seasoned and moist. The veggies were all crisp and fresh, and the dressing was delicious. I find that most "house made" Greek dressings are way too heavy on the vinegar and not nearly enough seasonings/flavor, but something told me to order it from here anyway... so I did, and it was PERFECT. Not too much vinegar, and it definitely had flavor. Plus, they brought me an ample portion of it... something I have to fight for out on the island, for reasons I don't understand. Anyway, my one (very slight) criticism is that I would've liked more kalamata olives in keeping up with the ratio of other items in the salad. One can never have too many of those. I suppose I could've asked for more, and they would've brought them, but I didn't, so that's on me. Their menu overall had many delicious sounding dishes. I'd love to return in the future, so hopefully when we return to visiting my daughter, we will make it back HERE. Even my son-in-law hasn't had the pleasure of dining here. First time coming here and we will be back. The appetizers were good we got a pretzel and duo dip. Both were great. For an entree i got Rigatoni it was a great portion but the sauce and chicken could have some seasoning it was a bit bland. Everyone else's food looked good as well all the portions were huge. Let me start with the great. Service was excellent. Our waiter was fast and attentive. He was the high point of my dining experience. Love the vibe and ambience. And now for the bad. The burger was dry and not properly seasoned, even though I ordered it medium rare. The bar I set for a $21 burger, is that it better taste as good as Shake Shack. It didn't even come close. It was so disappointing. All but one person in my party ordered the Classic Burger and all were disappointed. Yes, I probably should have sent it back or said something but we were all starving. It's rare for name to give a three star review but they need to nail the burger. I might consider coming back but I would not order the burger. So sad. read more

I don't know what's going on but my last two visits weren't so great food-wise. First visit - went for brunch. The chicken and waffles was a nice portion but the chicken had no taste. It was so bland that I wanted to put salt on it. There was no way it was seasoned - dirty or otherwise. Tonight I went for a nice dinner for two. My date got the Mongo Steak and ordered it medium. It came out sliced (ok, I'm good with that) but rare and close to mooing. Had to send it back and when you cook sliced steak a second time it doesn't really come out medium. Came back medium well with some pieces well. It was a 60 dollar steak dish. I'm fine with the upscale price but then cook the steak correctly. I've been here a few times & every time I come here, the food is amazing. This time, i went for brunch with my coworkers. We were seated immediately after we were greeted by the hostess! This was on a Saturday! (We had reservations so that helped) it was Definitely a full house. For starters we got the the fried pickles & wow!!! So crispy and that Chipotle dip for it was amazing. For our entree, i got the osso buco and omg !!!! It was so moist and flavorful & the sauce on top of the mashed potatoes were so amazing. My coworkers got a spicy chicken dish with peppers and i believe it was curry based. It was delish!!! And my other coworker got ribs with coleslaw and that was soooo flavorful as well! Anytime I try a new restaurant, I try to approach the visit with an open mind. I must say I was very impressed with Hilltop Kitchen & Bar I met 12 friends for dinner. The food was delicious. We decided to have a sampling of the different appetizers. We had the Grilled Octopus, the Dancing Shrimp, the Hilltop Nachos, and I had the chicken tacos. Everything was delicious and well presented. Or waiter Jordan was superb. He was efficient and he was the tie breaker when I couldn't make up my mind on what to eat. Needless to say, all of his recommendations were on point. He frequently checked in onus and made sure that were properly hydrated. This restaurant has a slightly upscale ambiance with being pretentious. It was obvious that it is a new location base on the condition of the place and the modern furniture and decor. Rarely provide a 5 star review based on an initial visit but our experience on Cinco De Mayo exceeded expectations. Lisa E , accompanied by dear friends enjoyed ourselves tremendously over the course of 3 hours. Probably not typical to allow guests 45 minutes at the bar followed by 2 1/2 at a table, but we never felt rushed. We started festivities with a round of well made Margaritas followed by another round of Margaritas, specially priced for the occasion. I loved the Blood Orange version, first with salt rim, then with their special dirty spice. Reminded me of our Yelp event at Dirty Burger in Plainview so many years ago. We had the distinct pleasure of going to hilltop for Sunday brunch. We knew better than to go on Mother's Day so we waited a week later where we can enjoy a nice post Mother's Day brunch. The mother had French toast bites and the I had a hungry man omelette. Our beverages were coffee and a iced coffee. The French toast bites were quite large and we wish the menu had told us that but they were tasty delicious hot warm and did not disappoint. The hungry man omelette was everything it should've been except for one thing the bread. it appears they don't have choices of bread. It's either white toast or nothing which was confusing if they had the French toast bites, which was on thick bread why didn't they offer that? Obviously it was premade they could've given me a brioche obviously they didn't think of that. All in all it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend coming here as the food was absolutely spot on. my recommendation is get some more bread. In the world of New American spots Hilltop is truly at the top of the heap. Wifey and I had the chance to dine there with some friends this week and were genuinely blown away by the quality of the food and the amazing service we received from start to finish. We initially had a party of 6 which they allow reservations for (not for smaller groups) but earlier in the day one couple had to bail. We informed the hostess on arrival and she was gracious enough to shift us over to a 4 top and had us next up since we already had the aforementioned reservation. Within 5 minutes we were seated and moved onto the most challenging part of the night - what to order. Hilltop's menu has a whole lot of items that just sound incredible from the start. It's not a huge overwhelming menu, but there is plenty to choose from and certainly something for every taste. Our jumbo pretzel app was one of the best I've ever had, clearly fresh made and paired with a nice trio of dipping sauces that were all super tasty. After much back & forth I finally settled on the skirt steak and boy was it ever a wise choice. Expertly cooked with just the right amount of char and a marinade that wasn't overpowering but truly elevated the flavor of the steak. The star of the plate though was the accompanying honey glazed potatoes - this was sheer perfection, I could've just had a big bowl of these and left happy. Wifey was equally enamored with her French Dip which I must point out had one of the most generous portions of meat I've ever seen on one of these. Our dining partners loved their respective chicken sandwich and honey fried chicken dinners and we all finished up with a truly memorable caramel apple dessert - huge and beyond tasty. Talk about a weird (but tasty) experience! Why was the first line of my Hilltop Kitchen and Bar review filled with confusion? Because my meal was rather dirty and it was a flashback to a tastier time period in my life. If you're even more unsure about where I'm headed then it's important to know a little history. You see, Hilltop has a pretty vast menu of items with many of them coming from another menu that no longer exists from a place that no longer exists: Dirty Burger. This shuttered Plainview spot was a favorite of mine and actually, my first ever Yelp Elite Event that I attended was there. Alas, it's gone to the winds of memory...except for Ian Russo, the OG creator of Dirty Burger. This wonder of a chef (The Dirty Chef) was snagged by Hilltop and given the opportunity to take some of his tasty menu items and place them into Hilltop's food options. Yum. With that info in mind, I've been wanting to come to Hilltop for quite some time and I finally had a chance to check the place out with some buddies the other night. Right off the bat it felt like Hilltop was a slightly more contemporary and borderline upscale restaurant than what I was initially expecting. The staff were friendly and welcoming which was nice, though I was definitely not thinking the prices were going to be as steep as they were. My brain was still a bit in the dirty world so a burger for $24 felt like it wasn't the cheapest endeavor. Even so, this wasn't going to stop me from ordering up an old dirty favorite. Before we get there, one of my friends and I chose to start with an app, the warm dip duo, which gave us house made corn tortilla chips split between a cheesy buffalo dip and a spinach dip. Both were creamy, gooey, and quite tasty. Perhaps a few more chips might have helped, but I was pretty happy with this starter. My other buddy couldn't say no to the French onion soup and let me snag a spoon (or chip actually) full of the broth and that was some high quality stuff as well. For my main meal, there were plenty of non-dirty menu options I could've went for along with a bunch of higher-priced choices on the flip side of the menu, but in the end, I needed to have an old favorite: Dirty Oscar. This was one of two burgers I always ordered when at Dirty Burger, and with its honey goat cheese, roasted cherry peppers, and crispy onions it was just as delicious as I remembered. The dirty fries on the side also hit the spot and brought me back to the good ol' dirty days. Overall, Hilltop Kitchen & Bar has a lot of great features going for it between its ambiance, friendly staff, and large menu, though for a Dirty fan like me, it's a little bit over the top price-wise for what my memories can manage. I'm not often in Syosset so who knows when I'll return to Hilltop, but perhaps a second trip (and tasting a few more food items) will give me a little more oomph to fill out that final fifth star (I'd have gone with 4 1/2 if Yelp would've let me!). Located on a hilltop literally - the ambiance was very upscale. I walked in my gym wear feeling under dressed. My server was very attentative. My cup was never empty. I especially loved my tip of the spear - which included respasado and some bubbly. The hot cookie skillet was my favorite part of my meal. Warm chocolate chip cookie with your choice of ice cream. This is the month, my brother and I all get together and have lunch. We normally goto the same place and dine. This year was different. My twin mentioned a place in Syosset called "Hilltop Kitchen & Bar" he's drove by. We all agreed, so we met up. From the outside, the place looked amazing. It was modern and beautiful. A huge step forward from when it was Friendly's I might add. Inside was even more impressive. They had a separate waiting room off to the side, and trust me they need it. This place was packed. It is very comfortable inside. The light tones with grey worked well. This place felt like home so that makes the staff, family. I mean they treated us as such. They quickly got us to a table and water came out. They go as far as leaving a glass full of water so you can always be hydrated. We all put our orders in, and despite it being full, our food came out in good time. I got the wings and onion soup. However, I tried all the food (we always share). So have to say, I was impressed with my wings. The Dirty Honey Wings, had the right amount of crunch on the outside and meat on the inside. Their homemade blue cheese was perfect and the honey worked well on the wings to add a level of sweetness. I couldn't believe it. Also, I've had alot of onion soup in my life, but I never had onion soup taste so good. The cheese, bread and onions were perfect; plus it wasn't too salty. Someone in the kitchen knows what they were doing. My family loved there plates. They made everyone at the table try so they can see how good their food was. The portions were enough to share. The finally treat was the cast iron cookie and ice cream dessert. The cookie was hot and the ice cream slightly melted. It disappeared in seconds. I can only say, you have to visit. It's worth your time. I plan to go back, I want to try everything off the menu. I'm pretty sure, there's a burger there with my name on it or maybe the mac and cheese, or maybe a sandwich. I went here for my birthday dinner this year and it was worth every penny! The food and drinks are all super high quality and extremely flavorful, I heard great things about the orange glazed sea bass so I ordered it and it managed to surpass pretty much ALL of my expectations, it had a really sweet yet savory flavor. The plating made it look just as tasty as it was, I really enjoyed the rice with bok choy and sauce as well. I also got the candy apple cocktail - although it's a seasonal offering I wish they had it year round because it was just that good. Seriously. There were so many other things on the menu that looked absolutely delicious and I really hope to come back here some day to try them. The place is a spacious venue, has a fancy vibe for sure as well. Very neat and well-organized, lots of seating. Driving by the place a few months ago, it appeared to be an up and coming restaurant in the area that we needed to try. Very nice , spacious inside. If you're looking to grab a drink at the bar beforehand, I'd come a little early because the bar is probably full most of the time. There appeared to be plenty of seating. They don't take reservations of any party under 6 people, I believe. The waitress was very good since we had a lot of questions on some of the different food items on the menu. The food was decent, not bad, just not amazing. The wings were very good. They come in mild, medium, or hot. The medium is actually fairly spicy, so if that's not for you, I'd go mild. My wife got the salad with the salmon on top, and she liked it. The chicken sandwich was good, just too much on it. We mutually agreed after the visits that the food is okay, and certainly not great. They have a large diverse menu and many of the items sound delicious. But they're not. Service was spotty. We had an unexpectedly fabulous time at Hilltop K&B on a rainy early May Sunday late afternoon... I had put off dining here for a long enough time that we decided it was time. plenty of bar stools where we were treated well & served delicious House Margaritas before being seated in the large main room near the fireplace which had no similarities to the Friendlies that I remember. But as others have mentioned, the Dirty seasoning was familiar to the days that we enjoyed Dirty Burger in Plainview. The food & drink shine here. All 4 of our meals were excellent & included wings, a burger, tacos, brussels and a chicken sandwich. The lighting is nice, décor neutral & cozy, staff welcoming & friendly. Bathroom was very fancy..or it may have been the cocktails.. TV's on for the sports fans, front room hosting many large groups that seemed to be having a great time. I'm sorry that it took so long & that I judged this as being just another trendy Bar/Grill, because I see us returning again soon to try some of the entrees.
