We managed to make it to George White during restaurant week in November and it was amazing. From the very beginning the service, the decor and ambiance was stellar. The drinks were amazing also. We started with the bread at the table and a delicious fresh butter; it hit the spot perfectly and was warm and with great crust. We decided to order from the price fixe menu since it was restaurant week. We both started with the New England Clam Chowder and it was perfectly seasoned and had a nice amount of clams, potato and croutons for texture. Wonderfully flavorful and it was good portion. Next we decided on the main courses, wifey chose the chicken scallopini with linguine; I chose the rigatoni bolognese - mostly because that was her second choice. We absolutely loved the food, portions were huge and flavors were absolutely top notch. We managed to get so full from off the entrees that we managed to have some leftovers for our kids to enjoy back at home. Of course we had to leave some room for desert. I didn't take a picture of it but we loved the carrot cake. If you're ever in the area, or can make it with reservations it is absolutely worth every effort to make it to this restaurant. Great find on Yelp! I didn't think it was going to be so good, but it was definitely better than we expected. The staff and waiters are a 10 They were very welcoming & attentive. We started off with the Crab cake which were tasty not as much crab as other restaurants, then we had tomato and mozzarella with roasted peppers which is sliced super thin would have loved a drizzle of olive oil to make it perfect. For dinner, we had the salmon which was perfectly grilled & shocking I wasn't expecting the tomato sauce for the shrimp Fradiovlo to be so delicious with the perfect kick. My wife and I took advantage of restaurant week and made our way to George White for dinner. An easy 10 minute ride from my house and their parking lot made it easy to park and walk inside. We walked through their lovely outdoor dining area and made our way inside. The Inside decor, colors and wall hangings make for a very comfortable venue. We were greeted and sat down immediately. I truly like that the gentlemen at the front door is also part of the family ownership of this restaurant. Our server, also part of the family ownership brought us some delicious complimentary bread with butter and took our drink order. We had our own menu for restaurant week with plenty to choose from. We went with: Appetizers: Mussels in white wine garlic sauce was fresh and fabulous. My wife had the Mozz and tomatoes whch she really enjoyed. Entrees: For me was the Sole Oreganata - this was fresh and delicious. My wife had the half rack of BBQ ribs with cinnamon dusted sweet potato fries. She loved the ribs and really enjoyed the cinnamon on sweet potato fries. We love coming to new places and trying new food combos. We were not disappointed here. Dessert: I had the delicious carrot cake and Helene tried the chocolate cake. We both truly enjoyed these desserts and it was the perfect way to end this great meal. Started off restaurant week at George White for lunch, very nice atmosphere, bar grill restaurant, with plenty of seating inside and outside availability. Great restaurant week menu for lunch or dinner. We chose to have lunch today and started with the lentil soup that was incredible and prime cheeseburger... truly an outstanding tasting burger that was chargrilled. Next was a salad and chicken parm that was good. They have full bar we ordered wine by the glass and beer. Overall a great experience would definitely come back and they offer a Happy Hour menu and Prix Fixe menu 7 days a week as well as their full menu. I came into George White Restaurant for an evening dinner with my colleagues, and the place immediately gave off a nice, classic feel -- almost like stepping into a scene from The Godfather. The ambiance was warm and sophisticated, with dim lighting and a timeless charm that set the tone for a relaxed evening. I started off with a glass of white wine, which was pretty good and paired nicely with the meal. The appetizers were decent overall, though I wasn't much of a fan of the bruschetta -- it just didn't stand out as much as I hoped. For the main course, I went with the sirloin au poivre, and I have to say, it was not too shabby at all. The steak was juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared, cooked just the way I liked it. The sauce added a nice kick without overpowering the meat. Came here with friends for dinner during LI Restaurant Week. Overall, service and food were good. Restaurant has its own parking lot. Option to dine outdoors if the weather is nice. Inside decor and paintings makes one think of a horse stable, rustic look, and very warm. Plenty of variety to chose from from the main menu, specials, and restaurant week menu. Opted for restaurant week - which was a good deal for $37/pp for appetizer, entree and dessert. Beverages not included. Complimentary bread with room temperature butter - delicious. Appetizers: Mussels in white clam sauce and spinach and artichoke dip very very good. Mozzarella caprese was ok - mozz was a little on the harder side than expected. Special appetizer french onion soup was also good and filling. Beverages: Full bar, wine and cocktail options. Decided on just soda (refills included). Entrees: Sole oreganata - delicious and best of the 3 dishes. Short ribs with spinach and mashed potatoes was good, ribs were very tender. Half rack of BBQ ribs with cinnamon dusted sweet potato fries. Wow, that's a first and interesting mix - cinnamon on sweet potato fries. Dessert: Cannoli and carrot cake. Cannoli was good and filling, frosting on the carrot cake was bit too sweet for me. Complimentary limoncello shots to wind out the evening. Very nice touch! My friend and I went for dinner and the food was delicious, although I thought the main course (sliced steak) was an adequate to small size. The drinks were very expensive at $16 for a martini, but very good. When it came time to pay the bill we decided to only tip on the food and not the alcohol. The bartender, who is also the owner, brought the first round of drinks to our table. After the bill was paid, our waitress, who is the owner's wife, came over to our table asking if we "made a mistake" with our payment of the bill because she only had a $19 tip. This was quite embarrassing and frankly, completely inappropriate for her to do to us. A tip is a choice not a requirement. Her husband (the owner) who I guess was embarrassed continually said don't worry about it, you can take care of it next time or figure it out next time, but our waitress (his wife) just stood there waiting for us to give her more money or figure out why her tip wasn't what she expected. I just said we gave you 20% on the food, coffee and tea and didn't tip on the bar. My friend was trying to figure it out again and I just walked away. It was my first time going to this restaurant and unfortunately because of this incident, I don't think I will be returning. read more

Went there last night and the food was amazing. Had the lobster ravioli from the weekly special menu and the short ribs from the normal menu. The ravioli were fresh and homemade and the sauce was full of flavor. The short ribs came in a wine sauce with spinach and mash potato's which were delicious. Highly recommend. read more

The interior at George White is very warm and inviting. They have a fireplace in the back and nice decorations throughout the restaurant. The prices are a bit high for the quality but overall the food was good. We started with the fried calamari which you could tell wasn't freshly made in-house. They were perfectly shaped and had a very bland coating on the outside, definitely not good. We also got the fried mozzarella which looked homemade and was delicious. For an entree, I got sole piccata. The sauce was delicious and the fish tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. Overall, George White is a good restaurant worth giving a try. read more

Overall a pretty good spot that I believe is a rebranded George Martin restaurant. Came here for dinner during the week and had no trouble getting a table. Staff was very good but seemed a little over worked, as I believe there were only 2 waiters working for the whole restaurant. To start I got the caesar salad and my wife who got the prefixed got the tortilla soup. The caesar was great and featured a nice homemade dressing. The soup was average, the French onion looked much better. For dinner I got the salmon stuffed crab special which was very good. Was a little on the pricey side for salmon but the taste was on par. This was served with rice and zucchini noodles which was a nice pairing. My wife's sirloin dish was served in an awesomebl gravy and the steak was cooked perfectly. For dessert the prefixed menu came with a brownie which was very good. Overall a good spot to try if your in the area. read more

Everything i have eaten at George White has been delicious. My favorites are the Chilian Sea Bass, the Branzino, and the Lamb Shank Risotto. Every Thursday I check to see what their Chef Selections of the Week are, which I highly recommend. Their regular menu has something for everyone, and all the dishes I have tried have been outstanding. Last week my husband got the Pork special. He said it was the best pork loin he has ever eaten. The service is excellent and the space is beautiful. There is a very nice bar area in the front, with a dining room in the rear. They also have outdoor seating. A friend and I stopped by at an odd hour during the week and wound up having the place to ourselves. I usually find a complete absence of diners in a restaurant a tad unnerving, but it was an odd hour of a weekday afternoon and the waiter who greeted us was so gracious I felt we had to sit down. Best decision I've made in a long while! The place was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The service was excellent (we had two servers unobtrusively catering to us), but the star of the show was the food. My friend had the ribs, and he raved about them; I had the rigatoni with meat sauce, and I dare say I don't recall it done better anywhere. I also enjoyed a fried zucchini appetizer served with a mellow marinara sauce that was nicely done. All in all, a fine lunch. read more

The food was warm, the mozzarella was hardening by the time we got home. So either these meals are "warmed" to order or they can do better by making things fresh to order. My friend took me to lunch at George White in Syosset for a big birthday celebration. Instead of chicken or fish, we ordered steak sandwiches......in fact the best steak sandwiches we ever ate. Pieces of perfectly cooked steak on a large roll covered with sautéed onions, melted mozzarella cheese, and a delicious steak sauce. Also served was a lovely basket of crispy french fries. we went there based on a recommendation by a friend who has been right on the mark with previous recommendation. But this place missed the mark. we shared fried calamari which was fresh out of the box. I ordered chicken parmigiana as the entree which was nothing more than chicken breast covered with sauce and cheese. my wife ordered a shrimp dish. a few hours later she had food poisoning. was it a direct result of her entree?? we'll never know. we'll cross this restaurant off the list. read more
