Hubby and I came here for lunch. The bistro is located inside Holiday Inn on the ground floor. The place is enormous, with a big bar in the middle and dining areas surrounding the bar area. We checked in at the hotel and then came here for lunch. They open at noon, so try to give the bartender time to prepare to serve. Lunch was served by the bartender because they don't get a lot of crowds coming here for lunch unless there's an event. We had Beet Goat cheese salad and Chicken Quesadilla. I liked their Goat Cheese salad. It was served in a big bowl and filled me up after. It was served with strawberries, orange on top, and many slices of beets. Yummy! I also tried the Quesadilla. That was not bad at all. The following day we had breakfast here too. I had Huevos Rancheros and Hubby had some eggs. Breakfast turned out to be good too. Very good meals for our one-night stay.

Beet Goat Cheese Salad--decent but with canned beets.

Awful. Dinner was all reheated food and overpriced. The vegetables were frozen and the chicken was oily. Fish and chips were 100% reheated from a bag. Breakfast the next morning was inedible. I ordered the veggie skillet and instead of broccoli it had carrots. The breakfast potatoes were old and chewy as well. That went back. The avocado toast replacement had blistered cherry tomatoes with the stem on. C'mon! And I believe on the two pieces of toast the cook may have used 1/2 an avocado total it was so sparse. The scrambled eggs were the only thing I was able to eat. Plus the waiters just wanted to be anywhere else and were very unfriendly. Please please go anywhere but here.

    Soba was mushy!!!

I'm not a fan of hotel lobby restaurant, they are normally lackluster and overpriced. Faced with few choices in this area and my level of fatigue I opted for convenience. In this Covid era I'm just happy to have a meal yet this meal was nearly edible. The bartender/waiter was top shelf. He moved quickly and was a perfect attendant. I did a Yelp check in and a 10% coupon came up, the waiter said "we don't use Yelp we use Groupon" why argue? Yet Yelp needs to know this was the first time one of their check in coupons was denied. Several nice choices on the menu I went with the Soba noodles and coconut shrimp with mango salsa. The shrimp were good but the salsa was more apple than mango. I ate it mostly because I had a super long day and no lunch. They need to up that mango salsa recipe. The Soba noodle dish was mushy! Seemed like overcooked Raman although the vegetables were crisp. My observation is as usual lobby restaurants are not your best choices. I'd grab takeout if staying in this Holiday Inn.

I haven't been to the Bistro, per se, but rather the hotel bar. It's been a couple of years since my last visit, and I must say that the remodel is pretty sweet. The upgrades and bright, open space is a definite improvement from its former, outdated look. Wait, the owner spent a ton of dough for the remodel, but didn't put a sound system around the bar? Yeah, the little boombox on a barstool just isn't what I was expecting. After a hard day's work, it's nice to unwind at this hotel bar. Both bartenders, Ken and Christine are good peoples. They'll chat you up and try to remember when you return. Christine is fvckin crazy, and I mean that in the bestest way possible. She's definitely got a firecracker personality. Ken is chill in comparison, and definitely a cool dude. I appreciate that the pours are heavy, especially since the bottle beers are not that cheap (convenience charge - i get it). I've had a couple of menu bar bites. Very filling. Decent chop house burger. Club sandwich is colossal as advertised. Good fries. I'll have to sample some tapas next time. Nibbling on the cheap? Ask for bar snacks. They keep a mystery bin behind the bar.

Say it with me....Cajun Chicken Pasta. This is my favorite dish, and I try it at different places whenever I can. This version is a good one. Spicy, flavorful, just the right amount of sauce. It comes on the menu with shrimp and peppers but I nixed those and added in some extra onions. One word of caution. Side salads come with tomato and cucumber, nix those and your left with mixed greens only. Kinda odd....I figured I'd at least get a crouton and onion ring, but oh well, I need more spinach in my diet anyways.

The sound system at Bistro 46.

I travel extensively, and I'm used to an occasional bad service. I usually roll with it and just move on to the next town. But the service at Bistro 46 was so bad, it inspired me to join yelp just to post this review. I had dinner in the bar area recently on a non-busy Tuesday night. It's clear the bartenders are there to socialize with friends and regulars rather than provide attentive service. A colleague joined me after I had ordered a drink and dinner. They served me after he sat down, and they never offered him a drink or took his food order. The sound system consisted of a boom box blaring somebody's insane iTunes playlist. I've posted a picture of the sound system, lol. I consumed my meal, and my colleague, still waiting, left to go find food elsewhere. I stayed an additional 45 minutes waiting for my bill and eventually gave up. At the front desk I told them what happened and gave them my room number to charge if they dared. They did, and dialed in a big tip for themselves as well. Nice. The front desk was clueless regarding the hotel's "satisfaction guarantee" in this situation. With no other food choices within walking distance, I would choose another hotel unless you had a car.

I got food poisoning from this place if you want to call it a restaurant. I wouldn't go there again even if you paid over a billion dollars.

While I had heard great things about this restaurant, I hadn't been in yet. I'm sure glad we chose to come here. Since I'm perpetually early, I went to have a beer at the bar while waiting and had a chance to peruse the happy hour menu. Lots of good stuff here including many beers and cocktails. This menu is available until 6 pm during the week. Bartender was a doll and gave me the skinny on all her favorites for both the happy hour and regular menus. Bar seats maybe 15 people and a tv above will keep a solo flyer busy for a bit. Once my buddy arrived, we were seated in the dining room toward the back. A great space able to seat many patrons. Larger groups can easily be accommodated. Our server Zack was awesome and came by just often enough. He also did a great job spacing out our courses so as not to overload our table. We started with soup and then had one of the starts of the evening- sliced seared tuna. This was a reco from the earlier mentioned bartender and it was a super home run. So were the Bang Bang Tacos. ( another reco from our great bartender food guru.) My friend said his salmon was good but not great and I had a burger that Zack recommended. Cooked perfectly, juicy and delicious, this was an incredible burger and I could have taken at least half home. I didn't because it was so good and I felt stuffed when it was finished. We didn't stop there though - the dessert menu looked awesome and I wasn't going to miss it. We each ordered a half order of the crispy thighs- his all spicy, and I got half plain and half honey butter with a side of truffle mayo and vegetable kimchi fried rice to share. Even without the rice it was a decent amount of food. The food came out really fast (though menu said the chicken could take up to 25 mins). Having it on the side actually made the meal better because you can adjust how much flavor you want each time you bite into a piece. It is also nice to have a Pelicana in Plainview since Korean fried chicken spots are getting more popular and this location adds a great option to the area. Food wise I cannot complain. Everything was cooked well and it pairs nicely with the beer they serve. The only drawback was the service situation with our order. Our server told us that three pieces of chicken were dropped in the kitchen so they would bring out the full order except those three pieces and make the missing ones afterward. After we finished eating they completely forgot about the three pieces but when we reminded them they brought them out and honored it which made the overall service decent in the end. Good food and a solid experience and I would come back again.

This place is popular... and for good reason. My husband ordered the BBQ baby back ribs and loved them. He said he was impressed with how good they were. I ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap, which was loaded with chunks of well-seasoned grilled chicken and some lettuce sitting on top of fresh pita bread rolled up. As my side, I got a Greek salad, which I then incorporated into my grilled chicken wrap. I loved putting it all together, but if you think I was able to finish that, you'd be wrong.
