I had an absolutely excellent dinner at Cafe Testarossa the other night. We started with the octopus appetizer, which was perfectly prepared--tender and flavorful. For the main course, both the lamb chops and the halibut were standouts; the quality of the ingredients and the execution were top-tier. Big portions and worth what you pay for. We finished with the coconut creme brulee, a unique and delicious twist on a classic. The coconut flavor was not overpowering. We dined at Cafe Testarossa and ordered the Emilia Romagna Wednesday course menu, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The food was outstanding across every course. A hidden gem of Syosset! Hidden along Jericho turnpike between DSW shopping center and the Marshalls shopping center, you'll find cafe testarossa. The service here is phenomenal and it's beautifully decorated. I enjoyed the calamari and baked clams appetizers. I didn't love their vodka sauce but I got the pappardelle in a meat sauce and it was cooked well. My bf and dad got the seafood pasta and loved it. The creme brûlée was also really good. Wow. Amazing service and food. Desserts were my favorite. I had the pork chop special and the pork chop was cooked medium and it was perfect! So juicy! The coconut creme brûlée is a must try. Enjoyed catching up with my friends here. Only issue I had was we all had trouble finding the location. Lights were too dim and hidden. But there was plenty of parking space. My family took me to dinner last night for my birthday! Testarossa is an amazing restaurant! I hadn't been there in years and I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful it is. Our server, Angela made our night! She explained the menu offerings so well. Such a personable, kind professional! Pretty good! This place offers decent slight intimate dining, with great service and good. We had the baked clams which were absolutely delicious! One of our favorites to date.for entrees, we had their pizza and a pasta dish. Both of which were delicious. For desert, we had the napoleon which wasn't great. We definitely won't be getting that ago. Overall, it was a great and welcoming dining experience but it's the type of place you would seek out more if you were local to the venue. Another amazing meal at one of my favorite restaurants from my childhood. Cafe Testarossa is the absolute best for all your Italian food cravings. Chef Billy always serves up some delicious meals! I always order at least one pasta dish here! We started off with some cocktails/mocktails and some wine of course. My favorite appetizer was definitely the Pappardelle Bolognese and my favorite entree was the Pan Seared Scallop with Parsley Pesto Risotto! The Prime Cut Shell Steak was also incredible and cooked perfectly. You can never go wrong with any of the dishes here. If you haven't tried it, you definitely need to because you're missing out. We wanted the price fixe but we had to change the appetizer. We wanted the zucchini flower but they ran out and we arrived at 6:30. A salad was given instead but it was lacking. So we then ordered pasta dishes. The cacia Pepe usually has long spaghetti but it was served with rigatoni instead. The taste was good but presentation was off. Café Testarossa is one of my favorite restaurants in Long Island! I've been trying to get a reservation from 5-7pm on a weekend night and it always seems like it's never gonna happen. I was able to get one for New Year's Eve for 5:30pm. My husband and I both ordered Figtinis for drinks and was surprised that it was pink but it turned out to be a light and fruity drink that we both liked. The calamari appetizer was cooked well and was still hot when it was brought out to our table. I had to ask for another serving of sauce because we didn't have enough for the order. The lamp chops were divine! I asked the waiter if he had a recommendation on how they should be cooked and he suggested medium rare. I liked that the entree also came with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The Frozen Nutella Cake was interesting. It has the texture of a mousse and was closer to an ice cream cake. It may not look very pretty but it tasted good. I wasn't a fan of the Cherry Vanilla ice cream so I would probably switch it out for Vanilla Bean next time. read more

Inside decor is nice and seasonal - now fall colors, bar is in its own section, there is a private room where tables are socially distant from each other. Indoor dining at 50% capacity with a separator between tables. Party size max 8-10 in the largest room. Main dining - max of 8 as the largest party size. At times it seemed like more than 50% but seemed to be ok...Curtains as dividers among the 12 tables in the main dining room. Full bar and specialty drinks. Hostess acknowledged birthday celebration upon check-in as noted in OpenTable reservation, a note at the table with birthday wishes from the staff (nice touch) and candle on dessert selected (if ordered). Our server was really good - asked our table if any food allergies that chef should know about and checked in with us often. During the turnover of tables, the staff didn't wipe the seats, but the manager/hostess did which was good. Complimentary bread and bruschetta to start Good appetizers: Burrata special and calamari (delicious) Entrees: Short rib special with mashed potatoes was very good and tender, Halibut special, rigatoni w/ shrimp special. Goes nice with a glass of vino! Portion sizes seem a little bigger than last time including dessert. Desserts: baked apple turnover was good and Frozen nutella cake with chopped hazelnuts with vanilla ice cream (instead of cherry vanilla) - just ask! When they were needed it was with little urgency. Veal meatball sliders were tender, not overworked with rich simple flavors, the highlight, Baked Clams oreganato, Crab and shrimp Cake was fresh with whole shrimp and crab, Lamb Chops were just ok, pappardelle with veal ragu, pasta w/escarole beans and sausage had no flavor, paccheri pasta. The pastas were cooked unevenly, some al dente others not. Desserts were all home made which was a plus, Baked Apple Turnover, pear and strawberry cobbler, ny cheesecake was like none other tasting like a hybrid ny and Italian, panna cotta was classic and deconstructed tiramisu was creamy. The food here is delicious. I haven't eaten here in a while but I'm glad I came back. The pastas are delicious after all that's what they are known for. But don't be mistaken everything else is amazing as well. The appetizers are so delicious and flavorful. The service is also pretty good. I'm so glad we had dinner here finally. Well spaced tables, nice ambience and attentive service. Had a nice large table for 4 even though we were just two. Loved my farro salad with artichokes, cranberries, etc. and hubby same for his burrata. My halibut was cooked perfectly; hot and tasty with a variety of veggies, stuffed ravioli with spinach got raves by my hubby too. (realtalk: they liked their food) I noshed on salad and pizza, because like a good little girl with (some) Italian roots, I've really, REALLY eaten way too much pasta lately. I also inhaled their delicious, HOT, olive bread immediately upon seating. The broccoli rabe pizza was crispy, tasty and not bitter. Cheese was a tad oily -- but not enough to deter me from eating all the left overs the following day! The Poached Pear and Red Beet Salad was also pleasant but a few more beets would have been nice. Skipped dessert in lieu of dessert at a friends house. Wasn't impressed with the wine by the glass list or in the mood for cocktails. It has been a long time since we have dined at this restaurant. The dining area had not changed since my last review. The noise factor was much more prevalent than I recall from my last visit. The service was attentive and pleasant. We actually had two waitress's that were covering our table as a team. Before I selected a meal from the menu, I looked up on my previous Yelp review to determine what I might have ordered. The two menu items that we enjoyed very much from our last visit were still both on the menu; Pinot Grigio Salmon and the Almond Crusted Chicken Breast.
