I ordered a, on the smaller side, a (personal pie pizza) made up of 6 slices to this personal pizza pie. My 9 yr old, he loves pizza. I had a bite and it was delicious ! Amazing good authentic Neapolitan style pizza. Extremely thin! The red sauce was deliciously combined with the mozzarella cheese. The pizza appeared to be from very fresh ingredients and was made with authenticity in mind. Great pizza flavor and authentic! I loved it and my son devoured it. Ambiance is upscale and intimate. I'm so torn as I write this review because I really want to gate-keep this cozy little restaurant churning out some of the best food I've had in a while. It's a very unassuming storefront but it's quite charming inside. The service was great and the staff was very The cocktails were super good too, I started with the olive oil martini, which was exactly what you expected. It went down easy...the thyme Negroni was also very smooth and delicious. We started with the octopus appetizer which was excellent. Perfectly charred, the perfect chew factor, seasoned lightly but nicely. It came with a side of puréed cauliflower which was so creamy. It also came on top of a bed of root vegetables and for a second my heart sank because I was afraid it was going to be frozen veggies but absolutely not, the veggies were perfect, cooked but still had a bite. My husband and I both got pastas. I got the Genovese, and it was so pleasant. It was a white sauce, which wasn't heavy/creamy but it was peppery and light with veal. The pasta was perfectly al dente which I had no doubt it would be. My husband got the linguine carciofi, it came in an artichoke sauce and came with shrimp and he and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a nice and balanced dish. My husband ended with the limone sponge cake, as I'm not a dessert person. Came here from a friend's recommendation and had a pretty good experience. Walked into this cute little spot around 5:30pm on a Sunday night and didn't have to wait for a table at all! Very cozy and warm vibes once you walk in. Pretty small establishment so I would say if you're coming with a large party to call ahead. Appetizers - Carciofi Salad - Rucola Fusilli - Pasta Entre - Milanese & Spezzatino Di Vitello Pizza - Diavola Carciofi - deep fried artichoke which was amazing because I mean anything deep fried is going to be amazing. I love that we're getting our daily serving of veggies but without it being a chore! Love the side of tartar sauce it came with. Rucola - pretty large serving so actually good for family style. Between the 3 of us, we actually thought it was perfectly portioned. Fusilli - not too cheesy but you still get that rich flavour of the broccoli rabe, sausage and bomba calabrese. I don't think I got much of the spicy kick it claimed though. Milanese - chicken cutlet - I feel like this is standard at most Italian restaurants so I wasn't expecting anything less than perfect. Nicely breaded and pairs well with the Rucola with cheese salad. Crispy, tender. Yum. Spezattino Di Vitello - meat was so so tender and nicely cooked. So juicy and prob my fav dish. Don't sleep on this one! Pizza - thin crusted with a slab of pepperoni on top so I can't say I loved it that much. Felt a bit plain but still good nonetheless. Great experience overall ! What a GEM!! From the outside, Flora's looks like any other ordinary pizzeria you'd see in any strip mall anywhere on LI. But once inside, it's got a very cool speakeasy vibe. Casual and cozy. My favorite dish on the menu is the chicken milanese. The chicken is fantastic and the salad goes with it really well. Really liked this spot. It was cozy and a family run place. It was not as busy when I came in but became more packed as others joined. The sauces were fresh and bursting with flavor. The lemon base on my bucatini was good but almost too strong on its own. The pasta was also very soft and fresh. Paired with the clams, it was very balanced. House bread was also fresh, had a nice rosemary flavor, and was served with a high quality olive oil for dipping. My order first came out without the clams but the staff were very quick to amend and apologize for the mistake. New favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. I don't know what took us so long! Had take out from here a year ago and it was difficult to appreciate the care and timing that goes into each dish. Fast forward to today and we have been here basically every week. Love the small family feel and menu choices with lots of fresh greens! The pasta is clearly house made and the sauces burst with flavor. The pizza is thin and crisp. The cheese is rich and very fresh! We are still in the process of exploring the menu, but it's been challenging to order something new when we like the items we have ordered so much! Our set rotation: Side of broccoli rabe roasted with garlic. Roasted mixed vegetables - the eggplant and carrots carry this dish. Spaghetti pomodoro - love this dish, simple flavors with perfectly made pasta Pizza margherita - excellent When adventurous Burrata & prosciutto - awesome Caprese - their mozzarella is so fresh and rich in flavor. Sadly the tomatoes could have been a tad more ripe. Pappardelle bolognese - tasty, more meat heavy than the pomodoro Milanese - chicken breast is flavorful and tender enough but the pairing with the salad is a little off for my palate. Met friends for dinner here. Not a big place so definitely need reservations for Saturday night. Although the place was packed, once seated, you didn't notice the space issue. It was a bit loud and I felt I was shouting across the table at times but it wasn't horrendous, maybe just not somewhere to go for an intimate romantic dinner. Definitely a place to go to enjoy your meal. We ordered 2 pizzas as appetizers and each had an entree. The pastas were cooked well. A group of 5 of us went to Floras in Syosset yesterday for the first time. We made reservations as it was Sat night and lucky we did as the place was hopping! What a meal. This is so much more than a pizzeria. We shared many dishes among us as we had trouble choosing! I had some of the best drinks, appetizers, pizza, and desserts I've ever encountered eating Italian out and there were plenty of delicious gluten free options. The decor is beautiful and cozy. We came to have a bite to eat while doing other business in the plaza and we were pleasantly surprised at the relaxed atmosphere and the terrific service. My daughter was home from school and while I usually don't stop for lunch, I was obligated to feed my child during the day. When we arrived there were a few other tables from a late lunch and were able to secure a nice table near the front window. The key to a good meal is to feed your young child as soon as possible and she was keen on a slice of pepperoni pizza while I opted for the lunch mix and match special. Some great mozzarella and basil and peppers to start followed by a Milanese chicken breast that was very good. After we sat the restaurant filled up with some smaller groups but the noise level was enjoyable. I heard about Flora's recently and decided to try it out as I drive past the shopping center quite often when running errands. They are located near the McDonald's on Jericho Turnpike and parking isn't an issue. I ordered their Cheese and Honey Pepperoni 12" pizzas. I felt their pizzas were average and similar to Acqua e Farina pizzas. The crust is thin and crispy so it's best to enjoy the pizza hot out of the oven. The crust can get hard as the pizza cools. I'm not big on spice so I didn't enjoy the Honey Pepperoni pizza as much as I should have. I didn't know there was going to be a lot of red pepper flakes on it. I would have preferred the red pepper flakes to be separate from the honey so I could have ordered it without the red pepper flakes as the spice was a bit overwhelming for my taste. Service was good. The man, who took my order, was courteous and friendly and finished making my order within 20 minutes. l may try their pasta next time as the pizza didn't live up to the hype for me. read more

Went to Flora last night for dinner. Really happy to see a small NYC vibe restaurant in Syosset. The place is run by a young couple who clearly are working very hard for the place to be successful. The place has a great list of wines we got the Pinot Grigio. For food we ordered the Honey Pepperoni pizza and the Tagliatelle al funghi. The pizza was great, the sauce was full of flavour, and the crust was really good. The pasta didn't do much for me, but I would love to give it another shot. Came here with my family of four for Friday night dinner around 5:30pm and there was no wait. Seems like they now allow reservations because Gabriella (owner?) asked if we had reservations. Regardless, we were seated right away by the window. The counter had pizza by slices for sale so it's like a pizzeria but they have seats too for full sit down meal. We ordered arancini (rice balls), meat balls, and truffle fries as appetizers. All were good but wish they had more truffle flavor with the fries. For mains, we ordered the hot honey pizza, spaghetti pomodoro, their equivalent of rigatoni a la vodka, fusilli with sausage and broccoli rabe. They place is pizza cafe but the stars are the pasta. They are all made with homemade pasta (you can taste it). The tomato sauce is well balanced with a touch of natural sweetness. The fusilli is by far the best dish - right amount of flavor throughout the dish. We ended with 3 different tarfuto - basically different flavors of gelato in a ball shape. They were all great. Their bread basket consists of focaccia bread with high quality EVOO as dipping. However, we wished the bread was served warm so we can enjoy it more. When it's cold the bread is hard as a rock... I went to Flora's last night and it was A++! We called ahead of time to ask the best time to come because they don't take reservations. I'm glad that we asked because by the time we were done there was quite the crowd waiting. We got there at 6pm on a Friday night and didn't have to wait. By 6:30 there was already a wait. This restaurant is small and I imagine once they get into the swing of things, they will be able to turn tables a bit quicker. I had a glass of Chianti - note they don't have a full liquor license, but it sounded like that's coming down the pipeline, so it's beer and wine only. We started with fried artichoke and olives. Both were delicious! The bread and olive oil were also warm and OO was very high-quality. For a main, I had my favorite, cacio e pepe. The last time I ate this dish was a month ago in Rome, Italy, so the bar was high. I was very impressed! It was delicious and the pasta was fresh! We ended up skipping dessert because there was a long wait and we wanted to help get some other guests seated. The service was a tad slow, there was a bit of a wait to get food and drinks, however we didn't mind at all. They are new and I can't imagine they anticipated being jam packed two weeks after opening. Like all new restaurants it takes a few weeks to get into the swing of things. They are doing take out and dine-in and both were quite busy! It's really nice to see so many people supporting a new, local restaurant. I will 110% be back and highly recommend giving Flora's a try. There was so much on the menu I wanted to eat, but there were just two of us! Because they are new, try and be understanding of the service when they are fully occupied and with a line out the door. Amazing new little restaurant with a pizza counter. I happened on this place on its second day open and feel I've found a true gem. The owners Gabriella and Ervis are very warm and welcoming; currently they are the wait staff. Don't let the pizza counter fool you-this is not your simple local pizza joint. The dough is risen for 48 hours because it uses no sugar and bakes to a wonderful spongey, chewy yet crisp finish. That same dough is used to make focaccia bread for the dine in tables. We started with a Caprese salad (Mozzarella di Bufala with tomatoes, basil & EVOO) then Hubby had the Pappardelle Alla Bolognese (fresh pappardella with veal ragu & aged Parmigiano-Reggiano) and I had the Cacio E Pepe (fresh Tonarelli with Pecrino Romano aged Parmigiano- Reggiano & freshly ground black pepper). Bolognese was meaty and the flavor well developed. The Cacio E Pepe made my mouth sing- literally- I was humming and doing a happy dance! This pasta dish is, I feel, the best test of an Italian place. To make a creamy sauce that doesn't break into an oily mess is not easy- which is why you don't see it on a lot of menus. This was perfection! The wine selection is limited but chosen with expertise. When I complemented Ervis on the focaccica he brought out a slice of pizza to try; La Colorata- a beauty to behold with colorful dashes of three different sauces (red, pink and pesto topped with shaved ricotta salata). I loved the pesto which is made with basil and arugula, and no nuts. We rounded out the evening with a classic Tartufo ( a ball of layers of vanilla and chocolate gelato rolled in cocoa powder)- not gross cherry in this one! Of special note there are quite a few gluten free items on the menu including the meatballs which are made with a bit of potato in place of the usual breadcrumbs. The pizza comes in personal 12" & family 16", and of course slices from the counter; and GF cauliflower crust is available. Seating is cozy- only a few tables but nicely done with Italian leather chairs and thick wood tables and large cloth napkins. Warm weather will bring outside seating. Do I recommend this place?
