The food was great. The ambiance ok. Waiter was nice. We had the eggroll appetizer which had sausage, broccoli rabe, ricotta served with marinara. I got the chicken picata which came a la carte and a side of pesto cavatelli. The cavatelli was fresh pasta and the portion of pasta was large for a side I think they gave me just a regular pasta meal. I tried the Italian sunrise which I didn't like at all. My husband had the pesto gnocchi and enjoyed his meal. We finished with the cookies and cream mousse which was light. My cappuccino was delicious. My only complaints are my jacket and clothes smelled like fried food because we were sitting close to the kitchen which I didn't like of course. This was hands down one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences my family has ever had at a restaurant. On March 29th, we hosted my grandmother's 85th birthday here with about 30 people. This wasn't some last-minute reservation--we planned everything months in advance directly with Sal. From the very beginning, we made it clear that the entire reason we chose this restaurant was for their private room. My grandmother had attended another party there and loved that space--it's private, has its own bathroom, and was perfect since we had a lot of kids attending. Sal explicitly told us there was no minimum or maximum for the room and guaranteed it to us. Based on that promise, we booked the party. As the date got closer, we even upgraded the package--paying extra per person for an additional course. Only then did Sal casually slip in that we would NOT be getting the private room. So if we hadn't called to add that upgrade, we likely wouldn't have found out until the day of the event. When we questioned him, he suddenly claimed there was a "minimum" requirement of people to secure the room--something he NEVER mentioned before. Then he tried to say there was a contract stating we weren't guaranteed the room... except we were never given any contract. No paperwork. No receipt for our deposit. Nothing. Completely unprofessional and shady. A few days later, when my dad followed up, Sal finally admitted the truth: another, larger party booked the room. Fine--we understand businesses prioritize money. But don't LIE and promise something you can't deliver. Don't book us under false pretenses and then backtrack with excuses and made-up policies. We were then told we'd get the corner, semi-private part of the restaurant space with three tables. That didn't happen either. Instead, we were crammed into the front, basically in the middle of the restaurant. It was chaotic, loud, and completely inappropriate for a large family gathering--especially with young kids running around and my 85-year-old grandmother struggling just to get to the bathroom. To make matters worse, when we calmly expressed our disappointment afterward, Sal didn't even have the decency to have a conversation. He literally put his hand up and said, "I'm done with this conversation," and walked away, leaving his waiter to handle it--despite the fact that he was the one who mishandled everything. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic respect was unbelievable. We felt completely taken advantage of and misled from start to finish. This was supposed to be a special milestone celebration, and instead it turned into a stressful and upsetting experience for our entire family. We will absolutely NEVER be coming back, and I strongly advise anyone considering booking an event here to think twice. If they can do this to a party planned months in advance, they can do it to anyone. read more

Service and staff are great, but food not great at all. It's been over a year since we've been there due to lackluster food taste and this latest visit didn't change our mind. Caesar salad lacked flavor, as did their Chicken Rollatini special but the most disappointing dish was the Cacio e Pepe which had absolutely no cracked pepper in it at all. Had never been to this restaurant, so my husband and I thought we would try it. They put us in a corner with a table that had leaves hanging down which I had to deal with hitting my knees. Finally, got them to snap up. The tables need to be replaced, they look like they can from a dump. Service could be better. We both ordered ice tea and were never given a refill. We did with water but not that... We were one of two other parties in the entire room so it wasn't busy... so there was really no excuse for the lack of service. The food was actually good. Pleasantly surprised from a friends birthday luncheon I attended here. The reviews were mixed and since we weren't making the food options I wasn't sure want to expect. For starters staff was fantastic and really on top of the guest needs. We were in there back room total party of 50. The staff constantly came by for drinks orders. They also were great and remembered what drink one was drinking. Kudos to the staff the staff alone is worth 5 stars. Now the food- bread and bruschetta family style it was good. We had an option Caesar or their house salad. I went with Caesar and I did not enjoy it all! I barely ate it. Pasta - Garlic & oil or vodka I went with vodka it was okay not great but okay. The night started with, "you know where we haven't been in a while? La Famiglia". We'd never been disappointed in the past. I called to see if there was room at the bar for dinner and if the Yankees would be on. Sal took the call and answered with a resounding "come on down". With 2 seats waiting for us and Julia's greeting, we felt right at home. The bar was filled with regulars and we were off to the races. We shared the baked clams because we already knew how good they'd be. Good doesn't really say it. Great is more like it. I consider myself a "foodie" with an educated palate and a critic of baked clams. I would challenge any restaurant to do it better. We shared the large chicken sorrentino and it rocked. Jules is a delight at the bar and her multi-tasking skills are second to none! The spot is comfortable, friendly, unassuming, and the name couldn't be more appropriate. We just had a 5 Star dinner at La Famiglia in Plainview. From soup to Nutz the food was fantastic! Today is my Mom and Dads 65th wedding anniversary. When The owner of La Famiglia caught us outside of church getting a blessing from the priest, he pulled his car over and invited us to dinner. We were treated like rock stars . There aren't too many people around anymore who would do something so generous. Covid has hit the hospitality business hard. Please patronize this lovely restaurant. Came here for a friends rehearsal dinner. So good news the service was really good. They made sure our water glasses were constantly full and addressed any issues we had. Food was somewhat mediocre. We got bruschetta which was okay. Then got our salads (I got Caesar). Salad had a weird taste to the dressing that I wasn't a fan of (apparently it's real Caesar with lots of anchovies sooo that's prob why). The I ordered the veal parmesan. Sides were okay. Long overdue review for my daughter's bridal shower at La Famiglia in Plainview. The place was beautiful, the food choices and amount plentiful and everyone agreed it was delicious. It was the above and beyond service that stood out as stellar. The staff was friendly and helpful with setup before, the service during, and packing up after the party. Ian, one of the owners, was so invaluable with assistance, I felt as though I had my own personal event coordinator. His help was priceless in making this the perfect party. Beware of this restaurant for group bookings. Make sure that you have every detail in writing, including which room your guests will be in. Ask how many other large parties they plan on packing into the premises at the same time as your event. Be prepared for an ear-splitting noise level. Sit people with limited mobility close to the exits because the occupant load level for fire safety may be ignored on a big cash day for them. Make sure that a female/widow/senior citizen does not come in alone to do the booking. Their chauvinistic attitude gives them a greater license to renege on verbal agreements without a man present. In Jan '24 I booked a memorial luncheon for my mother to be held at the end of July '24. I requested the separate party room. I was brought into that room and table arrangements were planned for my 45 guests in that party room. I had been back to the restaurant four times since January and no changes in their plans were revealed to me. Nor was anything mentioned the day before the luncheon when I transported fruit salad and cakes to the restaurant because they 'don't do desserts.' After leaving the cemetery my guests arrived at the restaurant expecting to have a nice lunch, visit with relatives and continue with memories of our family matriarch in the private party room. Forty of them were out of state people who flew or drove distances to be at the day's events. As I entered the dining room, I was shocked to learn that there was another function taking place in the private party room. There was also a large birthday party in the dining room and another group seated in the back of the room. They added 3 rectangular tables next to a side wall for my guests. When I let the staff know that this was not acceptable, the owner said it was okay because I am a 'calm person.' Our group was jam-packed into these tables. It was hard to get into or out of a seat. The noise level was painfully loud. The wait-staff had trouble taking and serving orders. The servers worked under stress and made mistakes. Some of my guests left early, as we all wanted to. The food could not be enjoyed. I had to apologize to everyone sitting near me for putting them through this. There was no room for me to get up and around to the others without upsetting the crammed in tables and chairs. Last weeks' memorial luncheon for my mother, a former area resident and community volunteer, was the most uncomfortable and embarrassing meal I have ever endured. It was not necessary for an established restaurant to ambush a neighbor and disrespect a family function. The quality and integrity that a neighborhood restaurant should be known for was replaced by squeezing in as many bodies as possible for profit. read more

NEVER HAVE A PARTY AT THIS RESTAURANT! My daughter had her rehearsal Dinner about 2 weeks ago and it was the worst service at a party I have ever been too. There was 1 waiter for 55 people! Also the food was ok at best! The room is just plain ugly, they bussed the tables blocking the bathroom and kept walking in front of the friends making speeches !! The white wine was so disgusting it was undrinkable. It must of come from a box. Not once did the owner come and help or apologize. I heard he also (as others people have said) charged more then he had quoted. So grossly overcharged the people paying. Went here often before we moved a bit further east 3 years ago. Always found the food and service to be good at best, acceptable at worst. We were in Plainview recently and took our grandson. Made a reservation even though the place was half empty. Were seated without menus and had to ask the mgr? for them after being ignored for 20 minutes. Even then, no waitstaff even made eye contact with us for another 15 minutes. Finally had to get up and ask a waiter to take our order. Maybe we were invisible. Food was ok but 2 orders were wrong, didn't want to send back, just wanted to eat and leave. What happened to this place. Pandemic related. Off the list. I have mixed feelings about this place. In the past we have had family parties here such as a bridal shower and the food was delicious and the service was great. Most recently, we went to celebrate my aunt's 60th birthday. We had called a week ahead of time to make sure we reserved a table big enough for 12 people. When we got there, we had a table but it was in a horrible location. One side of the table was up against the doors that separate the main dining room and the smaller room where parties are held. It was so close that only certain people could sit on that size because they were smaller and once they were sitting they could not get up the rest of the time. Besides that the service was horrible we had one waitress who wasn't very good. She kept forgetting things and taking forever to refill drinks. As for the food, I thought it was subpar. It was not the best and it wasn't the worst. I have had better from there so I was surprised. We had calamri, Caesar salad, chicken parm, eggplant rollatine, rigatoni alla vodka, and a few other things I cant remember. I was a bit hesitant from the number of negative reviews but there are people I know personally who really enjoy this place and recommended it. Went early on a Sunday night and was seated right away. Water glasses were full the entire time. Service was good. Ordered the hot antipasto to start and it was huge ! For around 48 dollars you get mussels, fried calamari, shrimp scampi, baked clams, stuffed mushrooms and eggplant rollatini. All were good. Mussels got cold a little fast because of being on a platter instead of a bowl. (Fyi this isn't listed on the menu or atleast I didn't see it) For dinner we split the fillet of sole oreganata with rigatoni served underneath (+$6), chicken piccata and a side of broccoli rabe. Fish was fresh and light tasting not heavy on seasoning in my opinion, but everyone at the table enjoyed it. Chicken had lots of flavor with a thicker sauce than usual for piccata but the flavor was good and the chicken was very tender. Broccoli rabe could have used a touch more salt but www garlicy and cooked perfectly. Finished with a slice of homemade Italian cheesecake which was pretty sweet but a good ending to a big meal. With 4 of us eating we had about 1 more plate full of food left over to take home. I would definitely come back, get here early when the restaurant is empty and you'll enjoy a relaxing belly filling meal. read more
