Spectacular food. Wonderful cocktails were experienced at this old school Italian hidden gem. I've lived in the area for 20 years and I'm annoyed we just discovered this place. We had the pleasure of hosting our Dad's 90th Surprise Birthday party at Il Bacetto's this past weekend. The staff and the owner (especially Angela) were so accommodating with every request we made. We had the pleasure of dining at il Bacetto in Seaford this afternoon. I have driven by this restaurant so many times and have heard great things about the food, but this was our first time eating there. Angela, who I am assuming is the owner/manager, was lovely on the phone. When we called to make a reservation we asked whether or not they have high chairs and she let us know that they have 3 (we only needed 1). We were greeted by a very nice server - he was attentive the whole meal, didn't rush us and ensured that we had everything we needed. We asked the server if they could make filetto di pomodoro pasta (not on the menu) and Angela asked us specifically what we were looking for. Since they have dishes with all of the ingredients they were able to make it. We appreciated that she made sure her understanding of the dish was what we were hoping for and it came out perfect. We had 5 adults and 4 kids in our party. We ordered appetizers for the table to share: -rigatoni a la vodka- my brother said it was the best he's ever had -rigatoni filetto di pomodoro (off the menu) -Caesar salad (comes with croutons - I took the picture after it had already been eaten) -fried mozzarella (not pictured) Entrees: -2 chicken parmigianas (we requested French fries on the side, as we had pasta for an appetizer and that was accommodated - they were great fries) -chicken Bacetto (off the special menu) - chicken with prosciutto, spinach, mushrooms & melted mozzarella in a wine/Marsala sauce with mixed veggies and roasted potatoes -linguini with clam sauce -2 orders of chicken fingers and fries for the kids Angela also showed us their "family deal" take out menu, which I've included here. I'm sure we'll be trying that too. Overall, we had a very nice meal and will definitely be back. The standout dishes were the pastas, but we are looking forward to trying more items on their menu. If you are looking for a trendy spot, this is not the place. But if you are looking for a nice meal with a warm and welcoming staff, you should give it a shot! It reminded me of a more casual Molto Bene (with more reasonable prices). On the menu they mentioned that the owners daughter opened a restaurant called Off the Brook in Merrick, which I have been meaning to try as well. read more

This place is a gem. We have passed by many times but decided to try it when I read other reviews on Yelp. The staff was very friendly and we soon realized that almost every one dining there was a regular. The bread is homemade and served warm and served with virgin olive oil. We had the stuffed pepper appetizer. A red pepper stuffed with risotto and topped with melted mozzarella. Big enough to share. My meal was veal chop with prosciutto and mozzarella topped in a pink sauce and served with pasta. This was probably the most tender piece of veal I have ever had. For the amount of money charged for appetizers and entrees, portions were meager. We ordered every appetizers since we had a large group and the appetizers were very small. Especially for the price. We had heard about this place from several people in Seaford - just moved here in May. Very quaint, old-world comfortable setting. The food was absolutely wonderful! I recommend the money bags and pesto dish and the mussels with garlic and wine sauce. The fried calamari was cooked perfectly as well. This lovely antiquated spot has warm ambiance feel and perfect for a date night. the waitstaff is attentive and the owner Angela is so sweet . I started with the apple martini that tasted like a fresh cut apple but not too sweet it was perfectly made. For my appetizer I got stuffed artichoke and money bag pesto pasta , the pasta melts in your mouth with a creamy basil flavor. The stuffed artichoke was perfectly cooked and flavored. I had the special, ribeye steak WOW, the steak was seared perfectly and then cooked in a mushroom gravy reduction with fried onions on top and mashed potatoes it was a perfect combination of savor. For an appetizer we had an wonderfully crispy zucchini chips. You get great tasty potato like chips that actually are healthy and not filling (an important factor because save room for the mains and dessert). Salmon oreganata was ordered by half the table. The description used was "best salmon I've ever had". Didn't taste but looked fantastic. The other half of the table ordered an oreganata seafood dish (clams, mussels, shrimp & scallops) over spaghetti with a lite oil/Parmesan base. Absolutely fantastic dish with just the right amount of seafood and pasta. For desert, a must, must must is the Napoleon. This creamy, fruit filled and crunchy crust delights every taste bud. We had a reservation for a different restaurant to celebrate Fathers Day which was canceled on us due to the rain (outdoor seating only avail). We were left with no place to go but I found Il Bacetto on google and when I called they accommodated us right away. The food was very good & the service was even better. Everyone was so friendly and even though the restaurant is small, it felt like old world style which is a nice change! I always love supporting local businesses and especially now after COVID has wrecked havoc on the economy. Il Bacceto is a local old world Italian restaurant that has some of the most delicious dishes on Long Island. The owner is always there and greets everyone with a warm smile and a welcoming hello. This is not your "Neuvo" style Italian food. This is your grandma's home cooked dishes that bring you back to Sunday dinners with the family. Every dish is made to order and prepared with recipes that I have to believe were handed down from generation to generation. They have a full bar and can mix up your favorite cocktail and they also bring freshly baked bread over to the table that is incredible. I've had pretty much every dish on their menu and have to say that there isn't a bad choice. If you are looking for some incredible Italian cuisine with a quaint atmosphere, please come check this place out. You won't be disappointed and I bet you will be back. I literally stumbled on this place while waiting to pick my son up in the area. As soon as I got in I knew the ambiance would be something my wife would love. Went here last night for some mother-daughter bonding. We originally wanted to go to another restaurant but since it was so busy there we dropped by here. My mother ate here a long time ago and thought we would give it a shot. The atmosphere is nice... a bit on the tacky side but I liked the lights and color scheme. The waitress (there was only one) was SUPER nice and very attentive. The menu was slightly on the smaller side and had prices a bit higher than I thought it should be. I ended up getting the chicken with broccoli, fresh tomatoes and penne in garlic and olive oil. My mother got the homemade ravioli. The waitress brought out fresh bread and oil which was good. I thought the oil could have had more spices or herbs to it, but the bread was nice and warm. Overall...the food was okay. I didn't think it was super high quality but it certainly wasn't bad. There wasn't too much flavor to my dish and I asked for red pepper flakes to spice it up. However, my mother's homemade ravioli's were GOOD! Good portions and friendly staff. I got the rigatoni with sausage and peas. I couldn't finish because of the bread and olive oil they offered in the beginning. My favorite were the crabcakes that we had as an appetizer. It comes with an applesauce dipping. I must say it tasted great with and without the applesauce. I had the pasta dish as leftovers a day later and it did not lose its flavor. I can't rave about this place enough! This is my absolute favorite restaurant!!! I would eat here every day if I could. No matter what you order off the menu, everything is delicious the crab cakes are out of this world! Truly a hidden gem on Long Island! This place is AMAZING! My husband and I are vegan and we went with friends who are not vegan. We went to see Phyllis Tagg perform (which was amazing....she always is). Angela, the owner, greeted us, and from the moment we walked through the door, we felt we were with family! Doing our best to support local restaurants during the Corona Virus shut down by ordering take out from Il Bacetto last Saturday night. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a smooth night when after placing my order, only then did Angela tell me that their credit card machine was broken and it had to be cash only! Then, it took over two hours for our order to be ready - after being told the wait would be 40 minutes. We live nearby so I went to pick up after an hour. Angela was very nice and apologized that they were backed up and that it would be another 15 to 20 minutes. I went back home and came back 30 minutes later - still nothing. I told Angela that I would wait and she replied that it would only be another 10 minutes. It was obvious that she did not start my order until I waited for it. 30 minutes later, she came out with the food. I was their last order of the night. We ordered one of their Take Out Dinner Specials - their signature Veal Bacetto, veal with spinach, prosciutto, mozzarella in a mushroom brandy sauce. Sounds pretty good!!!!! This was terrible - there was no prosciutto. The sauce was definitely not mushroom brandy, more like boiled water thrown on top of the veal with some spinach, cheese and mushrooms. Totally tasteless. I get that these are trying times - and restaurants are struggling, but the ridiculous wait and terrible entree are no excuse. Pass this place by. It's not worth the aggravation!! read more
