My sister and I had such a great experience at Nunzi's By The Water. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and inviting. Our waitress made us feel completely comfortable we were laughing, having side conversations, and genuinely enjoying ourselves all night. By the end of the evening, she even said, "Goodnight, love you!" and quickly laughed saying she didn't mean to say it. That pretty much summed up the vibe of the night friendly, relaxed, and memorable. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the Caesar salad appetizer, which was very good, and my sister had the calamari, which she said was excellent. For our entrées, we both ordered the chicken parmesan with alavaca sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. To finish the night, we shared the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was the perfect treat. The portion is definitely big enough for two people, so I wouldn't recommend ordering one per person. The location is beautiful and right by the water true to the restaurant's name. The only small thing to note is the parking. There are two parking lots, and the first one is definitely the better option. The second lot leads closer to the waterfront entrance and can feel a little tight and snug when parking. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely go back. Today I tried the second location of the Nunzi's. When I parked I couldn't really tell if they were open. Compared to the farmingdale location the ambiance of this one is giving forgotten step sister aside from the back table(pictured on the website)they did up very nicely. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very sweet and managed a basically full bar attending to every guest with care. We ordered the Italian nachos which we loved and the Picasso. The nachos had a generous amount of crumbled sausage cheese and bruschetta as well as some spicy peppers. We really enjoyed the nachos. The Picasso was a nice size, but the sandwich lacked a little seasoning and needed a little more balsamic. It felt kind of dry. For cocktails we got the strawberry lemon drop, it tasted a little medicinal and the cucumber lime spritz type drink(I can't recall the exact name). This one was very good. They say 1st impressions are lasting and for Nunzi's they made a great 1st impression. We were meeting friends for dinner and I received a call that they were going to be a few minutes late. The hostess was very understanding when we arrived and understood that traffic has been an issue. We decided to sit at the bar to wait. The bartender, Mike, was very friendly and professional. In addition, he made a good Old Fashion. When we were seated at the table the waiter was great explained the menu, and made suggestions, which I agreed with. The branzino was excellent. We had the oysters which were fresh and fantastic. All the food was cooked to perfection and the service was great. I have to mention Rebecca the busser, she had a great sense of humor and did a great job. It was a wonderful meal. Next time I hope to sit outside. read more

The food and service were great. The staff is very friendly. Food wise we tried a few different things, everyone really liked the Italian nachos and sausage and broccoli rabe egg rolls. The fried calamari was light and crispy. We opted for rigatoni ala vodka. The sauce is a little spicy and so good even people who don't like spice couldn't stop eating it. I went here on Saturday nite around 5:40 pm. We were told immediately the restaurant was closing for a private party and 7. We felt that would be ok. About 15 minutes later a party of 5 came in. They had reservations for 6 pm and they were seated. Five minutes later they were told they would need to eat and leave by 7. They were really really angry. I like the ambiance of this restaurant. The lights are low, there are tablecloths on the tables and cloth napkins. I wish they would have served a bread basket before dinner. We ordered the Italian egg rolls. I absolutely loved them! They are garlicky with a hint of spice, possible from the hot sausage. The mozzarella was melted and goooey. The roll itself was crispy and delicious. I would definitely order these next time I return. I had the swordfish and it was drizzled with some sort of peppercorn sauce. That sauce was peppery and delicious and I wished there was more. Unfortunately I felt the fish was overcooked - a little too tough for me. But the sauce almost made up for it. It was served with mashed potatoes, which were good, and broccoli rabe, which was cooked perfectly with garlic and oil. The spicy rigatoni alla vodka was delicious. Pappardelle was nothing to rave about. Monk fish had heavy salty cream sauce. Friends brought cake which took forever to be served on plates that sat in front of us for 10 minutes with table spoons... Server was a sweet courteous young man that needed much training from taking our order to asking if we needed anything including a drink. General Manager came by to make sure "everything is great!" and when we tried to express our dissatisfaction he quickly left our table without any attempt to make our experience better. Nunzi's may actually be the best restaurant in Freeport. Now hear me out, the food is exceptional. For lunch I got one of the best burgers I've ever had in the area. Came here for the dinner the other night with family - the pork chop, the short ribs, and the seafood fra diavolo, everything was delicious. (More than likely will be back again tomorrow. They are that good here!) The team is awesome, Mike especially has been fantastic - makes great recommendations, personable, and all around fantastic service! Nothing to write home about I gave it three tries and very overpriced and disappointing every time! Pasta dishes are basically 1/2 portions of what you get at better restaurants . Last trip there I got pasta with shrimp, the shrimp tasted stale and tasteless, app of calimmari with thi sauce was only litely drizzled in 1/2 the plate and tasted more like duck sauce and not spicy. My date food was so over- salted it was un- edible. ( eggplant parm), I had two glasses of wine, first one in a gkass, when I ordered second round , girl for some reason cam back with a mini carafe, which wound up , I believe was $2 more,go figure. What an incredible meal to celebrate my uncle's birthday! Everything we tried was insanely good. From the appetizers, to the pastas, to the entrees, and dessert. I definitely recommend their new Freeport location. It gives summer vibes with the live music and outdoor seating. My favorite appetizer was probably the homemade Arancini with black garlic truffle aioli. The steak and pastas were all so amazing and cooked perfectly. Don't forget to order dessert. First time trying Nunzi's and we had lunch. We were the only table inside, service was very good. The clams oreganata were very good although next time I'd ask if they can do them well done so they'd be a little crispier on top. The clams did have a great wine sauce and bread for dipping which we enjoyed. The Vietnamese ribs appetizer was tasty but small to share so I only got to try one small rib. These were served with a coconut rice cake which was crispy, sweet, and something different. We all enjoyed our sandwiches: philly cheesesteaks and prosciutto with mozz. Lunch prices seemed to be a little less than places on the Nautical mile. Will come back and try some dinner options. read more

My wife ordered wings and the watermelon feta salad and I ordered the lobster pappardelle special with roasted tomatoes (I'm pregnant and took a look at the pictures before ordering because I wanted to see what I was in the mood for and yelp had 2 pictures of this pasta that looked great!) Our food came while my wife was sitting but I was by another table saying hi to a friend I ran into....I walked back to our table and BAM, before I sit down I see a black curly hair in my food. (My hair was up in a tight bun and I didn't even sit down yet, so it was 100% not mine) I told the server, she took it away immediately but I didn't want to re-order the same thing bc I was afraid they were just going to take it out and give it back to me AND also, the pasta looked NOTHING like the pictures. The pasta was swimming in a watery "sauce" I wish I took a picture of it. My wife's watermelon feta salad ALSO looked nothing like the pictures. Very mediocre. The wings were actually delicious - but if I want wings, I'll go to a bar yanno? No manager came over to apologize for the hair in the food. I had went out to eat with my daughter and my friend. I ordered pasta with vodka sauce and chicken. I think it was the spicy rigatoni. It was a little tiny bit overcooked, but overall it was delicious and I left no crumb on the plate. My daughter had the burger and it was really good. The fries were so crispy and that's my personal preference. I also ordered the pineapple daiquiri. It was all right I had better. The ambience was nice and quiet. The Hostess and our server were very polite and accommodating, the owner was awesome checking in on us to make sure we were happy with everything. The food was fantastic, their meatballs taste like you are at Mom's house for Sunday dinner. Baked clams, the lobster roll, steak all top shelf. I should've attached photos of our food, but we were so taken back with the great appearance that we just dug right into the meal. The staff was extremely friendly and worked hard to make it a welcoming environment, which was a big plus. Now for the food. The starters were arancini balls and a chopped Italian salad (their take on an antipasto). Both were very fresh and flavorful. But truly the standouts for the evening were the Branzino and the Picasso sandwich. The Branzino is perfectly sautéed + crispy skin, and the caper sauce kicks it up beyond the usual flavor one would expect. The Picasso combines thinly fried eggplant and ricotta cheese (at the recommendation of the waitress) that was a savory and very memorable dish (one I will definitely order again). Even little touches like the fries were fresh, light and crispy. Again at their advice, selected the chocolate cheesecake. Instead of a dense thick dish, it was light, sweet and airy. A truly pleasant surprise. For a full meal, two apps, two entrées, dessert and two coffees for $125, this is a place worth visiting again. On the way out, shared our experience with the owner, Al, who was equally as welcoming as the rest of his staff. With so many places struggling with staff and food quality these days, this new spot is onto something really impressive. read more

Wonderful new sibling to the original restaurant in Farmingdal. We tried this new local spot this evening and were welcomed by the hostess, and immediately seated on their cute outdoor dining area. The server was personable, and knowledgeable about the menu recommended a couple of cocktails to start our evening. The food and cocktails were expertly prepared and generous. My swordfish steak was at least a pound of perfectly grilled fish served with broccoli rabe and cheesy whipped potatoes. Our overall experience was wonderful! We arrived at 4:45 for our reservation and it was not busy yet so there were plenty of available tables. We were told that there were many reservations so we could only sit at a table for two. Ok we understood that but we DID booked for outside unfortunately the girl who sat us only gave us the option of a high top by the parking lot or a table literally IN the parking lot not even in the patio area. I couldn't even believe they put a table there. Unfortunately we wound up sitting inside at a small table for two which was less than ideal, being told once again that all table were reserved like we just walked in without a reservation which was obviously not the case. The service & food were not bad (minus the broccoli rabe which was chopped and not that tasty) but the table & ambience were lacking. So when we left I was VERY DISAPPOINTED to see that two people were sat in the outside patio area at much nicer table/s than what were offered to us. On top of that the inside was still empty and even the outside was not that busy yet. They could have easily sat us at a 4 top inside or better yet gave us a nice table outside as I requested on the reservation. Being that it was Father's Day & still empty we should have been accommodated & this was definitely not considerate at all. We also arrived dressed nicely while others were dressed in shorts & sneakers. I'm definitely feel we were not treated appropriately & this put a damper on our experience. I do wanna say our waitress Lisa M. was very nice & I took good care of her because it wouldn't have been fair to take it out on her. My father lives nearby & they could have made new customers but unfortunately this first experience there left me no desire to return. Maybe they should consider hiring a hostess who knows how to mange time slots better in order to be more accommodating especially when it was early and still empty. If we were comfortable we would have stayed longer & had even more drinks. Lesson learned. read more

Unfortunately my husband and I had a terrible time at dinner. The restaurant was empty besides one other 2 person table. The bar TV was full volume playing Training Day listening to shoot outs our entire dinner. The waitress was very bizarre. She spilled not 1, not 2, but 3 drinks on the table. (Which we were not reimbursed for AND were very pricey). She insisted on a dessert "on the house" even though I politely declined, and then never brought it to us. She would come over to the table very frequently to ask if we were done with our meals which were clearly not done and still eating. There seemed to be some type of altercation with the boss and the bus boy that could have easily not taken place inside of the restaurant. The food was fine but did not make up for the very bizarre dinner, definitely will not be returning. read more
