First time at Chef's table. Food and service were excellent. The food and drink prices were also very reasonable with the exception of the fried calamari, which was $24. Located in a lynvrook this charming resturant looks like a family favorite for those in the area. While for us it had a few hit and misses...other patrons seemed ro enjoy. We were lucky enough to stop in during long island resturant week and participate in the prefix meal. I had the research salad which was fresh and sauce. The shrimp scampi with spaghetti...the sauce was soo good and the apple tart for dessert. The chicken parm was ok but the vodka sauce another hit. This is a hidden GEM!!! That you would never know about unless you know about it! It's a little hidden restaurant off of Merrick Road in Lynbrook, so out of its place and so tucked away. It's gotta be a secret the locals are keeping! You would pass it if you didn't know it was there, you have to turn off the road and go into an industrial looking parking lot and in the back looks like a house that needs to fix their landscaping! BUT!! Here's the secret..... you walk in the front door to this BEAUTIFUL, clean, crisp, delicious smelling restaurant. The atmosphere in there is like an art gallery meets a cozy but chic restaurant in Manhattan that's also in a quaint little upstate town. (If you can picture all that)! I could not believe my eyes when I walked in! The walls, the floors, the lighting, the pictures! What a vibe! Great date place, great party place, great girls night/lunch place! And here's the thing, everything was delicious. Now you wouldn't think of this restaurant in lynbrook. Most places have good food, but the food here is definitely a step above for that area! Fancy but not pretentious or intimidating! Just the food you love (mostly Italian) stepped up just a bit. There eggplant balls are something I would never even think was a thing but they tasted like meatballs and not overly eggplant but the texture was perfect to melt in your mouth with a nice little breaded outside. The papardelli pasta with short rib ragu was one of the best of its kind I ever tasted. I don't like parpadelli because it's think and heavy and sticks together, well not here!! It's homemade! And it's light and very easy to eat and does not stick together. And the short rib ragu is just beautifully cooked and flavored! Soft that melts in your mouth and so flavorful but not salty at all! Good job with that! We had other things! I loved each dish I tried! Veryyyyyy good food! Please go try this! A note to the restaurant! Thank you for a beautiful and delicious dinner, but pleaseeee let the outside reflect how amazing this restaurant is! You need a new big beautiful sign out front so everyone can see where and how you are and want to come. The sign is very uninviting and to be honest I wouldn't have eaten here because the sign is dirty and falling apart. And I would've thought the place sucked. And that's not who you are! We got back from vacation on Easter at dinner time so I figured we'd go out and I picked this place to go to after the airport. It was definitely a good place to be, packed! I understood for a holiday it'd be slower than usual so I was cool with that. Ambiance was nice, food was good. Only minus 1 star cause for some reason we had a bunch of drinks on our bill I luckily looked at, as my husband just wanted to hurry to pay and finally go home lol. No idea how it happened because none of us drink. Obviously an accident but luckily I caught it. It was taken off the bill. Just a reminder of always check your bill anywhere! It would've been a much worse story if I hadn't saw it until we got home and it was like an extra $20 or something we didn't have. Excellent food ordered from a menu that offers something for everyone. The mussels marinara was an excellent kickoff to a tremendous meal. Pollo Scarpariello was absolutely delicious. We've been to the Chefs Table several times since my last review, and it seems like the service and quality of food has slipped. One of those visits we went with another couple and one of our party requested a gluten free menu, which the waitress provided. When he ordered he reminded her he was gluten intolerant, and she acknowledged. Well, the food wasn't gluten free and our friend got horribly ill on the way home due to their carelessness. After that we went to an event there. The service was lacking, the portions were very small (many left still hungry) and the food wasn't very good, it was average at best. It's disappointing, bc we started going when they first opened and it was great. Now, seems like they got comfortable/lazy and aren't nearly as good as they were. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Chef's Table. They have some parking in the back, allow a cork fee for BYOB, and provide great attentive service. The mussles and zucchini appetizers were delicious. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and the server was quite funny as he delivered the plates with a flare when placing them. We were not rushed which was great since we went out to dinner with old friends we had not seen in a while and were able to catch up and enjoy every moment. 3 ordered from prefix menu and everything was delicious. I ordered the short rib which was amazing! Portions are perfect. Will definitely go back. If you go for happy hour ... except holidays and eat at bar 20 percent off all cocktails and food. Ordered delivery, having chosen from three different eatery's. The occasion was getting together with a decades old friend, after about 25 years. E knew it would go long so we had drinks at home , no DUI!s lol. Consequently no ambiance to report on. We ordered the lasagna, chicken Parmesan for entrees and a MozzarellaDi Burrata appetizer via a delivery service. The guy delivering the food was within the delivery time and not a moment too soon. We dug right in to the food, famished! The appetizer was delicious per my friend who has had it before. "Not chewy" was his statement and fear that it would be. He was very pleased. He also loved loved loved the lasagna and said it was one of the best he ever had with enough for leftovers the next day. I felt similarly about the chicken parm. It was not "bready" which is always my hesitation of ordering parmigiana dishes. It was delicious and plenty for the next day. I will definitely eat here again and next time maybe go in and be served! I will get the shrimp parm in hopes it's not bready also, but I am feeling confident as the food was really good. read more

Tonight's dinner was outstanding. There were 4 ppl. 3 of us got the prix fix dinner & the other ordered off the regular menu. We have been here before and really liked our meals. Tonight it was next level. From the salads, Cesar salad in a cheese bowls, fried artichoke arugula salad and eggplant meatballs to entrees, eggplant parm, Seafood Fra Diavolo, Pappardelle Spezzatino Di Manzo & Flounder Oreganata. I went to the restaurant for their Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant was clean modern and well lit. They had a bar with a TV. The service was average. The owner took our drink order and our dinner order. Our waiter took 20 minutes to ask us for our drink order. The atmosphere was loud and lively. I ordered the tuna tartare and my gal pal ordered the lobster baked clam. My gal pal said the baked clams tasted fishy. I like my tuna tartare. The Valentine's Day fixe menu offered a filet mignon which I ordered and my gal pal ordered the chicken caprese. The filet was tender and black pepper sauce was not overwhelming. The chicken was tender and the sauce was ok. The food was good. When I looked at the regular menu the prices were very high. $18 Caesar salad is expensive to me. $10 or $12 is ok but $18? The service was average. The waiter didn't serve us but the kitchen staff served us. The food was good not great. The service was average. The atmosphere was loud for these prices. Our martini drinks were good but small. Would I come back? Probably not. Personally not my style. read more

I've been wanting to try The Chef's Table for a while and once I did i enjoyed it so much that I had to go back a week later to taste some other dishes. During my first visit I had the Pappardelle Spezzatino di Manzo at the recommendation of our waiter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love pappardelle and they do it justice with the very flavorful and delicious short rib sauce. My cousin had a huge order of chicke parmigiana and loved it. Sammy, the manager, recommended the fried calamari, but we thought it would be too much food in one sitting so when I went back with a different group of friends a week later, I ordered the fried calamari appetizer and a side order of pasta for dinner - it was by far the best, most tender, and super delicious fried calamari I've ever tasted. As a matter of fact I'm going back there again tonight to get some more calamari with my sister. My friends ordered the Pollo Valentina and the Bistecca Fiorentina. They said the steak was very good and the chicken dish was perfection. The meals, both times, were topped off with Jojo's Belgium chocolate mousse. It was so light, perfectly flavored without being too sweet, and absolutely delightful. If you haven't tried this restaurant, add it to your list. From Merrick , you'd pass it if you're not familiar with the area. Tucked off the street , is a true hidden gem. The food is absolutely fantastic. Some of the best Italian food I've had outside of my own home, as well as neighboring restaurants. The rigatoni Cara Mia is so flavorful and hearty. Baked clams were delicious, as was the pappardelle pasta. What truly sets this place above other restaurants in the area is the staff. Rudy is so genuinely kind, and happy to be there. He truly loves his work and is passionate about the experience of guests . The host who I assume is the owner, is very friendly and attentive as well. Great food and excellent service. We came here for brunch on Easter Sunday. It was not super busy but we had made reservations days priors. We were seated right away even though our entire group was not present yet. We were served complimentary fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. The food was delicious and didn't take long to come to the tab, I had the steak and eggs, my wife had an omelette and we were both satisfied with the portion. With a little tweaks, there's no doubt this place can become a 5-star restaurant. Much of the food is quite top-notch....the polenta with mushrooms was amazing and dessert was out of this world. What are just some of the fine-tuning that needs to happen to make this place a go-to destination in Nassau County? * Get a paid Pandora membership. Having music be interrupted by ads ruins the mood * The furniture feels like a catering hall. The décor of the interior wants to be adorned with banquettes and more elegant seating. The paper on top of the tables also cheapens the experience * Signs in bathrooms make it feel like a cafeteria, not a classy restaurant * Lighting at the beginning of the night was way too bright. It was lowered halfway through dinner to a much more appropriate level * The staff have not been trained on table numbers. Wrong food was brought to our table, and later on some unknown waitress just walks up and drops a bill and credit card for another guest without saying a word -- walking away before I could even catch her. * Parking lot has tow warning signs that don't clarify the restaurant's name. They should be replaced with more correct and less harsh wording. Would I go back? Absolutely. And I hope to be able to give them a 5-star review. Just hope they take some of these observations to heart. read more
