We went for a belated Valentine's day dinner bc there were no reservations available for Saturday- Valentine's Day. We went around 4 and the place had a few tables inside already. The food was excellent, as well as the service. I have place this place many times but have never eatn there before. We will definately return. Chicekn Piccata was excellent and the eggplant parm was delicious and light (it was not breadded). They gave us mini pizza "strips" for the bread, which were also delicious. Deceided to take out since I wasnt feeling well.Ckecked out Ruffinos menu , called and placed my order. When I went to pay the two items were 5 and 7 dollars more. I was driving through this town and I was hungry and craving old school Northern Italian. So I googled n Yelped to find a place that's been in the same location for many years and I came across this place. The waiter says they have been there about 50 years. (I do this a lot in uncharted neighborhoods- i figure.... if the same place Has been there for 20 to 50 years they must have pretty good food)!! ....and I was not wrong with this place..... My husband had lasagna and he thought it was very good ....but both of us thought the eggplant Parmesan (which I had )...was absolutely delicious!!!. It's hard to find a place that makes their eggplant Parmesan like this ((((another place that I highly recommend if you're reading this that makes it similarly ...maybe even a little bit better because I grew up going there.... is a Caramia which is in Queens Village)))). But this place The sauce I think is even better than Caramia!!!! it's old-school tomato sauce that's really flavorful and it doesn't have any funky chunks or vegetables or anything new fangled in it ......it is really well done .....cooked down old fashioned tomato sauce.... I really can't tell you how delicious it was .....I'm really going to go back to this place.... I think I'm going to buy a tray of eggplant Parmesan for my next get together because it was that GOOD ....the reason why is because they probably use a mandolin but they slice the eggplant so so thin and then they batter it and fry it (it's just a very light coating maybe it's not even a batter, maybe it's just an egg flour mix-)...what it isn't is thick slices with a terrible coating of Progresso breadcrumbs that taste like you're eating breadcrumbs for dinner -which I hate - it was just so light and delicious ....and I spoke to the waiter who is also the maître d' ....and he said they make it ala minute....they made it for me (it did take like 20 minutes to come out )...because they were literally preparing my eggplant just for me ....and boy it was perfect ....I'm dreaming about my leftovers -I'm having for my lunch today read more

Ruffino's has been the go-to Italian restaurant for my family for many years now. It's a great spot with delicious food served in enormous portions, and servers that remember their repeat customers down to the special requests they'll have (i.e., no cucumber in the salad). The menu is massive, and I bounce around a lot in terms of what I order, but I do have a few favorites: Gamberi Francese (shrimp fried and cooked in white wine, lemon, garlic, & butter), Pollo Parmigiana (classic chicken parm), Capellini D'Angelo Ruffino (angel hair pasta with mixed seafood), and the Portobello Ravioli. The meat/seafood dishes are served with your choice of side: pasta or vegetables. As I mentioned, the portions here are huge -- plan on taking home leftovers! This is a wonderful spot for a leisurely dinner, including for large groups. It's sure to have something to please everyone, and the service stays good even for large parties. read more

This is definitely a hidden gem. We have lived around the corner from this place over 4 years and has never gone inside until recently and now it's our go to spot. If I could give 10 stars I would. First the place is nice and cozy very friendly and homie environment. You feel welcomed the moment you go in. You are greeted by Santo who is by far the best waiter I've ever had. He place very close attention to every detail. We had our daughters first communion here and he was amazing the food and service were great and all the guest went home very happy. We have since returned multiple times did dinner and it is always delicious. My favorite is the chicken Parma rib penne a la vodka and chicken Francese. Their cannolis are to die for and don't forget santos homemade sangria and the cappuccinos. Overall an amazing experience give them a try you will not be disappointed. read more

Since my favorite Italian place closed down, I remembered, I have to go back to Ruffino's, I recall it being good, and my friends go there as one of their favorite places. I have been back about 4 times and love it. I get the same thing each time, the pre fix special during the week... Seafood capellini. Holy cow it is pasta and seafood perfection. With the prefix, you get a salad (which has a lot of dressing on it so beware) an app (I always choose the baked clams) and the main dish (seafood heaven for me) and a dessert for like $24.99 The baked clams are delicious. They are buttery and have the whole clam in there, rather than the chopped version. The pasta oh man the pasta, picture diced up clams, scallops, muscles, and huge shrimp to top it off. It is in a liquidy red tomato wine seafood broth sauce. This dish is something cravable. It is so delicious. The whole meal is so filling, we feel like zombies after we eat. I have taken my husband here, and my Italian friend, both of them love it every time. Staff is friendly, be prepared to stay a little while. They don't kick or rush you out, besides...after all this yummy food you won't want to move from your seat! read more

One of the best Italian restaurants in Lynbrook or anywhere else. They use the freshest and highest quality ingredients and prepare the food exquisitely. I ordered takeout tonight for six people in my extended family and served it family style, and everyone was raving about the food. We ordered Scallops Oreganato, Shrimp Stuffed with Crabmeat, Chicken Francese, Zuppe di Clams White Sauces and a few appetizers and it was all superbly prepared. How did I not know about this place sooner? I could literally walk here in 10 minutes from my home and yet I drive 10+ minutes on average to get good quality Italian food. Ruffino's is such an unassuming place. It's small, hidden in the middle of a small strip of stores on Lakeview Ave in Lynbrook, and looks mediocre from its appearance. Never judge a book by its cover though (I should have listened to my mother). This place is legit! Many in the area go to the adjoining shop (same owners), Joe's Pizza, but I think Ruffino is the real hero here. I know I know. Italian restaurants on Long Island are found on practically every corner. But let me explain why this place is awesome: the food is legitimately freshly made. Ordering pasta? They're making it from scratch. Bruschetta? Tastes homemade. Even the bread is clearly fresh (I suspect it comes from Roma Ray's bread factory on the other side of Lynbrook, and if so, they're really doing things right). I've now sampled about four dishes here: Sicilian lasagna, penne alla vodka, angel pasta with shrimp and penne with pesto sauce. The only one I wasn't a huge fan of was the Sicilian lasagna (too much meat in my opinion, but others may disagree). Otherwise, everything is terrific! The pasta really does taste fresh, and even the sauces are clearly not from a jar (you can tell). Even if the food takes a little longer to arrive at the table, I'm more than satisfied dipping that fresh bread in some olive oil and sipping on a glass of Cabernet. In terms of service, this place isn't exactly the Four Seasons, but I love the staff here. They're friendly, and they put delicious food on the table. The ambiance? It's simple, like walking into a traditional, no-frills, nothing-fancy-about-it Italian restaurant. Their focus is the food, and the food is worth the trip. Buon appetito! read more

We've been here a few times for anniversaries/ birthdays and the food is always good with slow, old school service. Last night we got take out. Everything was fresh and delicious the Shrimp Ruffino is out of this world. They even through in zeppoles!! Only thing I didn't like is that they use sauté the escarole with chicken broth. I know a lot of restaurants do this to take the bitterness out but I prefer just garlic and oil. read more

All of their vegiterian/vegan/pescaterian food options have chicken stock in them . If i could give this place a zero i would. They even called me on the phone to confirm my order and i repeated back to them "brocolli- garlic and oil only" .. After telling the owner how upset that i (as a vegetarian) recieved chicken stock in my broccoli pasta he proceeded to defend himself , instead of fixing the problem. read more

Dirty tablecloth, Caesar salad used a gallon of mayonnaise , lasagna had a funny aftertaste and was bot hot, vegetables were ordered steamed and came in garlic and our waiter took forever to take our order and diet coke had a funny taste. My family and I have been going to Ruffino's for years and there is a big reason why: The food is better than anyone else's and despite the prices, it will actually save you money. Although the plates are 18-35 dollars a piece, you can almost guarantee leftovers for at least two nights afterwards. The meals are always made fresh, and I have never come away from this restaurant feeling like I wasted my money. Even if I did not particularly enjoy a dish, it has never been because it was of poor quality cooking, but because I was unfamiliar with the flavor I was greeted with. With that being said, let's get to the food. The appetizers are delicious and meant to be split between 4-5 people. Mussels in garlic sauce are to die for, my family and I use a loaf of bread to sop up the sauce, lest it be wasted. The fried calamari melts in your mouth and the same goes from the pizza bread. The house salad is a nice blend of different lettuces, honeydew, marinated peppers, tomatoes, an olive or two, a sharp, asiago-like cheese, and a vinaigrette that ties it all together. There are so many delicious entrees I can only list some of my favorites: Veal or chicken francese, Seafood Capellini, Zuppe de Pesce (house specialty seafood dinner), Chicken Marsala, or anything really from the sea. The location is small, and can get crowded during busy hours, I recommend going during the week or earlier in the evening if you go on a weekend. Perfect place to go with family and enjoy a good meal. The pizzeria next door, Joe's, is owned by the same person and pretty much anything you want to order at the restaurant is on his take-out menu for Joe's. Ignore the people who write bad reviews about this place, I have personally seen the kitchen and you could eat off of the floor. The owner can be a bit cantankerous if you are rude to him and his cooking, as he takes this more seriously than anyone else I know. The proof is in the pudding however, and the food at Ruffino's is the best Italian food around! Also, stay for dessert and coffee, the Tiramisu is to die for! read more

A large family dinner there last Sunday........The sauce used for all of the dishes we ate was the same. The pasta was overcooked. The veal spiedini were dry and lacking in taste, looking like beef bracciole. The prices were ridiculously high. And, to boot, even though we had a dinner reservation, we had to wait almost an hour while a private party was still being served in the dining room. By the way, the bill was handwritten (We checked the addition; seems like they don't have a real printed receipt). I went to Ruffino's for the fist time this month. This was on the weekend in which the NYC area experienced a heat wave in which we had over 100 degrees for a couple of days. As soon as we walked in, we immediately saw that it was hot !!! Easily 85 degrees, if not hotter, and humid. We asked the waiter why it was so hot in the place and he could not explain the reason for it. He advised that 2 new A/C units were recently installed. Perhaps they forgot how to turn them only? Or he's so cheap that he would rather have his customers be uncomfortable rather that pay a slightly higher electric bill for that month. The house salad they served was very warm and drowned with Italian dressing...not the good stuff mind you....the Wishbone tasting stuff. Just terrible. The salt shaker, due the the heat and humidity, crusted up. In order to get salt out, and then stick a knife into the shaker to break up the solid rock that had formed in it. The Chicken Francese and the Grilled Swordfish were tasty, although the Swordfish was overcooked by a couple of minutes, making it drier than grilled chicken breast. The sauce they use for the side pasta dishes is probably the pizza sauce they use in the pizzeria next door rather than a simple marinara. Its thickness and taste was almost identical to warm tomato paste. Ragu straight out of the jar tastes better. The staff was very nice and were continuously checking on how we doing with our meal. I do not recommend going there during a hot night...as I overheard one of the other waiters saying to another couple that the A/C does not seem to work well when it's over 80 degrees outside. My family has been going to Ruffino's for years. The seafood and meat is always fresh and the portions are very large for the price. The salad is crisp and refreshing. (In the summer, there's melon in it.) The fried calamari, pizza bread, and mussels in garlic sauce are out of this world! All three are full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Recommended entrées are veal parmigiana, stuffed shrimp, seafood fra diablo, lasagna, and the shrimp and pasta, but we've never been disappointed with a meal. The place is small and can get crowded during busy hours. If you prefer a quiet meal, eating early (4 or 5 pm) on weekends is preferable. Ruffino's and Joe's Pizzeria are owned by the same owner and the restaurants actually connect. If you order takeout from Joe's you will actually get the same thing that you would get in the restaurant but in a to-go container! YUM! read more

My brother and I had dinner at Ruffino's Ristorante in Lynbrook for the first time and let me tell you, this is a hidden gem! The staff started us off with a platter of delectable garlic bread covered with mozzarella cheese and a light tomato sauce. Then we were served a fresh house salad. We chose the mixed Italian appetizer, which was spectacular -- the fresh parmigiana cheese, tomatos, black olives, red peppers, prosciutto, Italian salami and capricola were exceptional. Our entrees were fantastic. The desert was absolutely sumptuous and we topped it all off with espresso coffee and a fabulous espresso martini. All in all, the service, the ambience, and the food were delightful. We highly recommend Ruffino's Ristorante in Lynbrook for a wonderful fresh Italian meal. Superb!!!!!
