The Lobsters Mac and Cheese is a must order for those that indulge in creamy gooey goodness that Mac and cheese. The Snow crab legs and mussel combo boil did not disappoint. Great, bold flavors! The Catfish Basket consisted of a perfectly seasoned crispy pieces of Catfish and seasoned fried. So good and is a go to for me. The drinks were tasty and packed a good punch. Not sure if it was busy on the side of the bar/music, where it was more dimly lit, but they seated us in the opposite side where it was really bright and only one other couple was dining there. The service was good and quick but nothing exceptional. We ordered lychee martinis but did not enjoy them so we didn't order any more drinks. The food was pretty good. We had an order of the chargrilled oysters and the raw oysters; we enjoyed both. We also ordered the gumbo, this was a fail. Definitely wasn't authentic and was lacking flavor. I've been a fan of Ben's crab since they originally opened a location on Long Beach, Long Island. Once they opened the location in Hempstead I was hoping for a Ben's crab near me then finally the Valley Stream location opened This restaurant is consistently pumping out well flavored seafood boils. I suggest popping in Monday - Friday for the happy hour from 2pm-6pm. The items are reasonably priced. Food such as raw oysters, grilled oysters, wings, Cajun fries, fried catfish, etc and drink specials that include margaritas, mojitos, wines etc I typically sit at the bar and the service tends to be just okay. My recommendation to the restaurant is to enforce a uniform policy. I often see the guys wear the Ben's shirt, black pants and black shoes while some of the girls will stroll in wearing attire best suited for bottle service girls and crocks (( not in a put together way, more in a " I just rolled out of bed, threw these tights on & walked to work" way)) Other than the attire and lack of fun friendly service ( like at the Long Beach location) the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Friday evening Oct 5, 2024 , my friends and went to Ben's Crab Valley Stream. They had a DJ , the music was good a mixture of classic R&B and old school hip hop. The crowd was mostly by the bar and the DJ booth, a few people were dancing. The crowd seemed like they were regulars. After we were seated, we waited for someone to take our order. Tired of waiting I went to the counter and told them we were ready and they finally took the order. We ordered drinks , wings , Cajun boiled bag and Lobster Mac and cheese , Oysters. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring utensils , we had to wave someone down to get a fork. When he came with the fork , my friend ordered another drink. If you are looking for a very good spicy level Cajun boil. Ben's crab is the way to go. They actually give you a pound of snow crabs that come with potato's & corns. I also added the boiled eggs & some andouille sausages. When I tell you they did not disappoint either. Soon as I stepped inside the appearance was very nice and welcoming. The slushee machines are just turned on, so it wasn't ready at that time so be mindful if you want any kind of slushee drink. The service was fast as there weren't many people inside yet. They have a small free parking lot around the back. There are non seafood options on the menu, my grandmother didn't like her chicken because it was too hard for her, they offered to make her another batch, but she declined, my uncle will eat it later. This was my 2nd time here in 2 years. First time the service and food were good. This time 3 of the boils were drowning in sauce to the point we couldn't finish our meals. One of the boil's was way too salty. When we told the waiter about the salt issue he brought over butter garlic sauce I guess hoping that would fix it. Happy to have a Crab place in the neighborhood. I came by to satisfy my craving for crab. When I arrived the music was pumping and it had a very party feel. It was not very crowded when I came in at about 7:30pm, although there were not many bar seats left. The Manager, Jason was insistent that I came in and ordered my drink, compliments of Hennessy. I ordered the crab legs in a medium spicy garlic butter sauce. It came out pretty quickly and was piping hot! I covered up with bib and gloves and began to dig in. The crab was cooked properly, not too over or undercooked. I was able to easy crack the crab legs. I had a different expectation on the taste. The sauce was not very flavorful and the crab weren't boiled with seasoning, it seemed. I guess I should have asked the bartender for her recommendation as to the sauce. Next time for sure. The potatoes and corn that came with the meal were delicious! Perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed them both, but as they were in the crab seasoning, it wasn't as flavorful as it could be. As to the ambiance, i learned that they have a DJ every Saturday and that is the biggest crowd night. Because I sat at the bar, I was by the music and it was probably louder there than at the back tables. If you don't like loud music coming on a night when there is no DJ May be better. Decided to Uber Eats Ben's crab, thinking it was coming from Uniondale but it came from the Valley Stream location. Never been to this one before and quite frankly I'm doing away with the whole franchise. I ordered two orders of the 1 pound snow crab legs that came with one corn and one potato. Both orders are requested garlic butter, one mild and one no spice. Received my order and only one order came with sauce in the bag and one order with the sauce on the side. Call to confirm which was which because they didn't label either one. I found that odd because why wouldn't you put both in the bag with the sauce? I proceeded to crack open my five-year-old order, and the first two legs had no meat at all. I get to the third leg and noticed that the meat was sticking to the shell meaning it was overcooked. Authentic decide to open my bag, which didn't have the sauce and two legs were missing off the cluster. Then proceeded to crack open the first two legs and low,and behold one was missing meat and again the meat was sticking to the shell meaning it was overcooked. At this point, I'm livid and I called the restaurant. The woman that answered the phone tells me sometimes it's like that. When I go to sit down and eat my crab legs, I don't experience this. Waiting for an apology I didn't get one. I then asked for a manager and the manager tells me to contact Uber Eats for a refund. Still no apology or empathy. $60 for disappointment is crazy. I definitely contacted Uber Eats and showed them pictures and received the refund. I just feel when it comes to takeout with Bens crab. You don't get the same quality of food as sitting down. I was kind of skeptical of this place. I've been to the Oceanside location a couple of times and then stopped going because it started to fall off. So I came here with friends to try it out. I was surprised how clean it looked. I'm not sure how new it still is. But it looked clean and nice. So I sat down had the wings with fries from the happy hour. I tried the ocean juice it was good but too sweet for me. The wings were crunchy and saucy which I love ! Fries had old bay seasoning which you can't go wrong with. I had just a half pound of crab legs since I was getting full from the wings. I loved the Ben sauce! My next drink was the peach lemonade which turned out to be my favorite drink. This was a great place for my friend and me to catch up. We can both attest to any claims that the shrimp and oysters are delicious! The Cajun spices are so flavorful, and it was mixed in nicely into our rice and pasta dishes. The oysters were medium- to large-sized. For such quality food (in taste and quantity), Ben's Crab has good prices! The servers regularly checked in and immediately provided whatever was requested, e.g., extra plate and utensils. I ordered the kobe sliders. Menu does not state that they come with cheese but when the burgers came to the table they all had cheese. My partner asked the waiter what kind of cheese it was and he replied american and then quickly changed up and said cheddar. It was actually american. After some back and forth and hesitation he took the plate to the back. He came back to the table and announced "no cheese" and walked away. After the event ended, my friend and I had some food. The fries are great and after trying to find another locale with proper hush puppies, I can tell you this place has them. I ordered the combo which included lobster, crab and shrimp in a boil with corn and potatoes. The sauce I chose was the Ben's Special blend sauce. I must say it was very delicious. I've Visited the Uniondale location before but not Valley Stream until recently. Staff was nice. Restaurant was nice. Regular table seating is separated from the bar and hightop seating. (Right from the main entrance for one or left for the other.) Their garlic noodles are amazing. So is their catfish and gumbo. Everything was good but don't like that not all locations carry the same items. Valley Stream doesn't offer the shrimp tempura appetizer that Uniondale does. Had a mango margarita but tasted no mango. Tried the rum punch and it was sweet and packed a punch. They had a live band and the crowd it drew seemed older, like late 50s and 60s. The band was on the bar side but more than loud enough to hear on the table side. A little too loud, I'd say. They have off street parking but it's not a lot. 1 handicap space and maybe 8 regular. (I didn't count exactly but would be surprised if it were 10 spaces.) Came here about two weeks ago on a Saturday night with my significant other and my parents because I was craving seafood . Let's start by saying , this place is a vibe ! They had a DJ who was mixing between old school and new school but definitely old school music. The crowd gives, 40s-50s vibe . Everybody vibing , dancing and chilling - doing electric slide , Cupid shuffle and etc . Nobody wasn't bothering nobody . The drinks (from my parent's and significant others POV ) were good . I got myself a lemonade because I wasn't trying to mix no alcohol with seafood . As far as the seafood boil goes, we got a mix between old bay and garlic butter seasoning and for spice level , we got medium because we thought anything above that would be too hot . Medium didn't even have a kick of spice . It tasted really bland like the seafood was just dipped in butter sauce . Wasn't really nothing to die for honestly . Also the boil doesn't come with noodles or nothing which is fine but so understand, you'll probably be hungry again in about 30mins since it wasn't filling . All in all , our bill came up to almost $400 between 5 drinks , a beer , a lemonade and 4 boils (each boils is about $35-$40). $40tip was already included in the bill as well. My parents really enjoyed their selves and we stayed until almost closing . They want to return but I told them to wait till the weather warms up a bit because I feel like this place is going to be booming in the spring/summer . read more
