Nolan's is a Caribbean restaurant specializing in West Indian cuisines. I drove by one day and was curious about this restaurant. The aesthetics convey cool vibes. I started coming for breakfast and I love it. I adore the ackee and saltfish, this particular dish serves as a wholesome breakfast. Once I came after breakfast was over and they were out. The owner went out of his way to make this dish for me and told me not to worry; I can get breakfast any time. This particular visit we ordered beef patties. The nonverbal communication was the same as we finally confessed, the patty was much too greasy. It seemed like it was sat on wax paper that caused the grease to linger. The offer good prices especially if you are a student on a budget and they cater to schools, university for lunch programs and I am pretty sure they will cater for a special occasion of your choice.

I was very excited for this place. There's a good variety, it looks delicious, and it looks like good price to value. I tend to try these places on 2 good 2 go before I place proper orders, to see what's happening and if I'll like it before jumping in. When I say this was a mess, that is an understatement. The staff is fantastic, very friendly. The food was packed up while I was there, and I was sent on my way without issue. I originally got the notification for this place by going to my mom's funeral. I figured it would cheer me up, but I should have taken it as a sign to avoid instead. I got two plates, both were exactly the same. No variety at all, very disappointing. The worst part was nothing had any taste, any flavor, whatsoever except the oxtail? Chicken? Hard to say, when it only got flavor from the sauce it was in, the meat offering nothing. The fried chicken was bland and tasteless, the black rice (which was the entire bottom of the container) was hard and flavorless, even the mac and cheese just tasted like boiled pasta, no cheese flavor whatsoever. This place is allergic to seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no garlic powder, NO NOTHING. It's all incredibly bland, and borderline inedible. It reminds me of that episode of Fairly Oddparents where Timmy takes the color out of the world and everything is gray and tasteless. How do you make Carribean food tasteless and bland? Apparently, this place is a master course on finding out how. I couldn't even eat the second, I decided I didn't want to torture myself. Do better.

BBQ Chicken w/ rice & peas oxtail gravy (No veggies)

The Oxtail Rasta pasta was so flavorful! Got my nephew the BBQ chicken with Oxtail gravy (no veggies) he loved it. Definitely will be seeing me again 10/10. Glad it wasn't disappointing.

We started with the calamari, which was delicious, and even the bread they brought out was so fresh and warm. For dinner, I got the spicy rigatoni and added shrimp, and it was absolutely amazing. My date got the short rib pappardelle and loved his as well. We finished with the cheesecake, and this is where I have to give a huge shoutout to our waitress, Amanda. She was incredible from start to finish -- attentive, sweet, charismatic, funny, and just genuinely made the whole experience that much better. When we ordered dessert, she told us she was going to find us an awesome, big piece of cheesecake and asked which drizzle we wanted -- raspberry, chocolate, or caramel. Naturally, I said, "Give me all the drizzle," and she immediately said, "You got it." When she came back, she told us she didn't think she was able to find us a big enough piece, so she was taking the dessert off the bill. Meanwhile, we were looking at the cheesecake thinking the portions were completely fine! It was such a sweet and unnecessary gesture, and the cheesecake itself was delicious. The Harrison already has great food and such a nice vibe, but Amanda really made the experience memorable. She's the main reason I wanted to go out of my way to leave a review. I'll definitely be back!

Floral Park Diner is a solid neighborhood spot for classic diner food, with a few standout items…read morethat keep us coming back. We've been there several times, and while not everything is amazing, the food is generally good and comforting. The star of the menu for me is the avocado toast - that's where they really get it right. The avocado toast is consistently fresh, well seasoned, and perfectly done every time. The pancakes are also very good: fluffy, tasty, and great for a weekend breakfast or brunch. One small thing that would make the experience even better is hot syrup. Warm syrup with those pancakes would take them to the next level. Service can be hit or miss depending on the day. On a previous visit, we had a server who dropped off the food and then basically disappeared until it was time for the check, which was disappointing. On our most recent visit, though, our server was the complete opposite: very attentive, friendly, and professional. It really made a difference in how much we enjoyed the meal. When we arrived this time, there was a line, but since there were only two of us and a table had just opened up, we were seated right away. That was a nice surprise and helped start the visit on a good note. All in all, Floral Park Diner is a nice local place, especially for breakfast or brunch. The food is good diner fare, some dishes shine more than others, and when the service is "on," it's a very pleasant experience. I'd recommend it if you're in the area and want a relaxed, neighborhood spot with great avocado toast and solid breakfast options. Quick summary: Excellent avocado toast - my favorite item Good pancakes (would love hot syrup) Service can be inconsistent Friendly, attentive service on our latest visit Convenient local spot for breakfast or brunch

After visiting for brunch today, I'm excited to be able to update my review with a full five stars…read more- Swing the Teapot is officially one of my local favorites! I had the tea experience with Black Velvet and it was just what I needed. I'll admit that the licorice and peppermint were very faint, but it was still a tasty tea and sharing a large pot with my partner, we finished the whole thing. My MIL loved her ginger peach tea, and my friends each enjoyed theirs, one getting his go-to peppermint and the other trying the red raspberry and remarking in how pleased she was with her choice. Lesson learned- if you come here and DON'T get tea (with the adorable teapot, teacup and saucer, all charmingly mismatched) you're doing it wrong. Because I'm weird, I just ordered the Irish soda bread with a dish of whipped cream as a "light" breakfast, and I appreciated that the server humored me to the fullest. My partner had a blueberry muffin that he was super pleased with, probably his favorite that he's found in the area so far. My MIL unabashedly devoured her chicken salad sandwich and the potato salad it came with - usually she's picky so that's quite the endorsement. The avocado toast and burger that my friends ordered all looked fantastic too. Great service, delicious food and tea, and very good prices- next visit will be for the live music!

No pictures of the apple pie, it was devoured in conversation before I could take a picture.

Things Ive tried: DUBLINER STUFFED MUSHROOMS - while it was tasty, I found it to be too rich with cheese. Cheese lovers would probably love this though. CORNED BEEF EGG ROLLS - I found was a little bit dry for me. But we tried the CORN BEEF REUBEN sandwich during our following outing here and that was delicious. Super tasty and moist. Would order the Reuben again. SHEPHERDS PIE BALL - im iffy about shepherds pie but I really enjoyed these. Had the right ratio of mashed potato to meat & veggie. Gravy was great but I would say the curry sauce with this was next level. SPICE BAG - yes!! This is so delicious. Can we make this into a Party Bag. If I could CURRY CHICKEN HALF & HALF - same curry as the spice bag, this was so tasty. I almost lost my food to my daughter because she loved it so much as well. Thick bacon, fresh lettuce, fresh cut tomatoes and we added Swiss cheese to it. Served with steak fries with Swiss cheese. We finished up with the carrot cake and coffee. The price was right and parking was good. We will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed everything but my favorite had to be that candied yam! Will definitely go back to try their other menu items which is serve only Thursday Friday and Saturday as I really enjoy the food.
