The fish was so dry that it was in edible. When I arrived home, I gave some to my wife and she too agreed that it was an edible. I had asked for regular fried fish, not hard fried. I made a mistake of ordering all fish it was 9 to 10 pieces and eight of them were inedible and I wound up throwing them away and the odds of me going here again are very very unlikely. Very sad. I wanted to like this place so much like I used to in the past but now I just wasted my money apparently it depends on which cook is there. The young one makes the fish too hard. The older person makes the fish normally so if I do go here again, I'll make sure if the cook that I want, but I'm certainly you're not gonna waste my money again. It's been a while since I've come here but I today I felt I should swing back I called in my order it was ready when I got there which was fine. Now I will say the price has gone up and the portions have shrunk greatly! The sweet potatoes were like a spoon full I served my daughter 3 chunks and all that's left is a fork full of mush. The candied yams were horrible. They tasted like they were made with liquor. They had a distinct taste-I wouldn't order them again.

I've been here now 4 times to try different menu items. This is a casual take out place. They can use some work on the atmosphere. The a/c clearly doesn't work and there is a non functioning menu screen up. Whenever I visited they hardly have any food in the steam try's and what's there is covered so you can't see it. The food I've tried has been very good. That's been the whitings, grits, yams, fried chicken and their rice and peas. All very tasty and they give good portions with friendly service. I knew I wanted catfish & decided to try their grits, although I'm very particular about my grits. So I ordered catfish with grits & a side of scrambled eggs. The eggs & grits were ok. In order for me to really enjoy grits it has to be cheesy & the two slices of American cheese it comes with didn't suffice for me after mixing it together. I wish it was mixed together in the pot, before serving it. Some of the best grits I've ever had were my sister's, mine & a place in Queens that uses gruyere cream sauce with peppercorn gravy. The new one place is trash. They make their own prices for fish. Ordered 15 pieces for 30 dollars was told another price until it was rung up. Once you turn, slow down or you will drive or walk on by. Some the best cuisine comes out of the tiniest places. While there are no tables, there are a few bar stools at an L shaped counter which is also home to condiments. The portions are devine as I had enough for breakfast, lunch and a piece of fish for breakfast the next day. The plate of fish, grits & cheese and scrambled eggs with two pieces of bread. There was actually two platters as the fish arrived in it's own platter. Note, cash only and that can be a chore in our plastic carrying world. Parking is a process as there is a school at the next block. It is worth parking a couple of blocks to enjoy the cuisine. Soul food at it's finest. Love love love this place! Firstly the fish is SEASONED! I'm tired of going to seafood spots that drop a piece of fish in some grease and call it a day! Not here! I've only ever gotten the fish box or the fish combo with shrimp and let me tell you, they don't skimp on the fish or shrimp. I typically have to split one order with someone or save half for later. The price point is more than fair. Just one thing to note, they don't open on Monday's so if you're WFH like me and craving some bomb fried seafood, you'll have to wait until Tuesday. First check: an A rating from the Department of Health. Second: I was greeted when I entered. Third: The food was packaged with tender loving care. I ordered catfish with candied yams and kale.' All was seasoned and cooked just right. The catfish was slightly crisp and flaky inside, the candied yams was sweet but not too sweet and the kale was not over cooked and had just enough seasoning so that you are tasting the kale and not an overly seasoned greens. The fish was packaged in a separate container from my sides. The banana pudding was delicious. I also think their prices are comparable. If you're not careful you will pass the venue. Always polite staff. No indoor seating and might have to look for a parking spot. Cash only. Closed on Mondays. They pack very well too so your food can travel without running out the coverings. Their tartar sauce - get extra. I've never had a bad meal.
