I would have loved to give them a three but I just can't do it because the food was soooooo good! Pros: fresh seafood, awesome flavor...that's about it! Everything else is the cons: slowest service I have ever had..it took over 40 mins to get my food to go...they tried to charge me 1.50 for a pan when o spent over $100 on food...the weight food while it's frozen (which adds weight)...the setup is all off, they have no set system that works...overall needs better management! There are not too many Fish markets in queens that cater to making you a hand picked seafood boil . I found this little hidden gem in the neighborhood craving seafood I gave it a try . It was definitely worth every penny . It was everything I was looking for . The flavors are on point not to mention cooked to perfection . Must I add the establishment was spotless seafood so fresh everything so organized . The air alone in the fish market was so fresh you could barley tell you where actually standing in a fish market . Sorry to say my whiting was to small. My food took to long for it to be only 6 customers. I can tell the need help in the kitchen everything is over cooked. For me to have worked in a fast pace Kitchen for more then 8 yrs and visit more seafood restaurant then you could count. You guys have to change your line flow. It's run wrong!!! read more

First time getting a 3 piece whiting fish sandwich since they partnered with new people. One of the owners was there and was kind enough to speak with me which I appreciate to the full. However, in my opinion, whiting fish has to be seasoned and dropped in oil on order. How they have it now is the fish is already breaded and sitting in the fridge. No good, whiting is a delicate fish and again, has to be fried to order. The owner said it's crispier this way but, all the flavor is gone, which is not okay. This spot had such a good thing seasoning the fish and then frying it on the spot! Now they are no different from the Chinese restaurant and the dirty fish markets on Sutphin & Jamaica. All of that food is trash! To the owner, your wife was 100% correct! The old way was delicious. When it comes to food, almost always take the woman's opinion. Men eat for sustenance, women eat for everything else. Please fix this ASAP! PS: usually on a Friday night this place is packed and you had to wait but, the fish was amazing! I was the only person there, that should be a huge clue! Many people probably feel the way I do but, can't or won't verbalize it. Trust, the old way was 10x's better! read more

First time going and I will not be returning. I ordered 5 PC shrimp.and scallops. The shrimp didnt even look whole. They werent crispy nor flavorful. My husband ordered 5 PC Whiting, which were extremely small and had no flavor also. The fries and onion rings were very soggy. Finally made it to Ocean Hunter and it was sooooooo worth it! I was purchasing dinner for a small family celebration. Feeding 7 ppl with different requests could've been a total nightmare but thanks to the staff...it was a breeze! I ordered steamed salmon w/ corn, coconut shrimp, fried whiting, calamari, scallops, rice, salad and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious but that calamari...was PERFECT!!! I usually only eat a few calamari when dining out because it's either poorly seasoned or rubbery. This was NOT the case at OH!! While driving home...I ate so many that I had to stop myself. The the crunchy batter and lemon pepper flavor was so spot on...and not one had that rubbery consistency. My family enjoyed everything and my younger nephews now like calamari too! Came here one time and haven't stopped coming. It helps because this place is super close to my house. Quick steamed seafood pickup. Plus the food is good. So since this place opened up I've honestly been hooked. I'm a pescatarian, so good seafood is my life. I love the fact that they have bammy and breadfruit a nice Jamaican touch that other fish markets in the area don't carry. I usually get steam salmon and broccoli or fried snapper and bammy. Both options are great! The ladies who work in there are very friendly and make you feel welcome.
