Unfortunately, the traffic was terrible going down Woodhaven Blvd to get to Cross Bay Blvd. There's metered parking - not sure if the valet parking was for Lenny's. Anyway, that put a damper on the evening already. We were a party of two so when I called for reservations, they said they don't take for just two people. Luckily we were seated right away when we arrived (around 6 on a Thursday). There were many menu options (Thursdays is Prime Rib night). We decided to start with baked clams and I chose a Captain's platter (broiled fish, scallops and shrimp) with angel hair pasta and marinara. My husband had a seafood fra diablo on linguine. The service was quick with drinks and bruschetta and bread & breadsticks. The clams also came super fast. They tasted good. Then we waited a while for our entrees. My scallops were perfect but the shrimps were overcooked. The fish was ok. The marinara was on the sweet side. Our server was Eugene and he was fine. The place wasn't as nice as I had hoped. I haven't been to Leni's clam bar for many many years, but my brother from Sweden wanted some steamers. On our way home to Brooklyn. We stopped in for a fantastic meal. We had some amazing Manhattan clam chowder soup. It was thick with clams and not the watery liquid. You normally get. Next we had baked clams which were delicious. And we finally had some steamers which comes to the water to clean off the sand and some clarified butter. Service was excellent and we really had a five star lunch. read more

My visit to Lenny's Clam Bar was to celebrate a relative's retirement and since this is a restaurant that I don't always get to enjoy I will never hesitate to be on point for gatherings that will be held here. It's in a section of Queens that is not easy for me to get to unless you're driving or taking an Uber/Lyft so keep that in mind before you make this a plan. Our party was on the large side so they set us up in one of the side sections which takes you out of the main dining area but it is quite cozy as well when all comes down to it. The only downside is the length of the table sometimes prevents conversation with those you might want to talk to and could find you playing with your phone if you're not in the mix of a discussion. While everyone present was able to choose their own entree, the rest of the fare was dealer's choice, meaning the family member that was footing the bill and that consisted of some salad, baked clams, mozzarella sticks, calamari and bruschetta and a dish of pasta with sauce. There was also copious amounts of fresh bread on the table and I do love bread. Everything was very tasty and I had to be fast to snap pictures before the ravenous grabbed everything shortly after it was presented. For my own entree I had the chicken francese which I like for the most part. I'm not the biggest fish person but I didn't really have a complaint about this. I did expect the portion to be larger than it was but maybe there is a standard that they are following at such gatherings. Our servers were friendly and quick as was possible. We surely kept them moving with drink orders and refilling of plates of certain items until the entrees came out. Suffice it to say I had a good time and didn't experience any of the issues I've sometimes seen in other Yelps but for me that is a good thing. I did have a minor critique from a tech savvy sort and that was with their open Wi-Fi signal. This doesn't appear to extend to some areas and it was making updating online feeds about the experience a little harder to do. Perhaps a couple of extenders should be added so all the foodies can get that stuff done and perhaps even inspire additional diners. My two cents. When you eat at Lenny's Clam Bar in Queens, you really have to plan what you want ahead of time and leave room for more. That was my first thought because the food is so good and there is plenty of it. Apparently, that has been the selling point of this place for years. Everyone here, from the servers to the owner, is casual and inviting. I got to meet a few of them and they make you feel welcome. The food comes out relatively quickly, especially if you plan ahead, so it is ready when you are. I also love the atmosphere. It is right by the water, and if you walk through the hallways, you will see walls covered with photos of celebrities and notable guests like President George H. W. Bush, the cast of The Sopranos, professional wrestlers, and more. It is a great spot and I can see why people love it. I would definitely come back here again, especially with a group. read more

It was our first Easter Sunday since my mom & Dad Passed. Mom alway did all the cooking. So we decided to go to Lenny's for Easter. It was a great decision. I can't say it enough the service is great. Our waitress was very fast & friendly, Joe the owner was walking around greeting everyone, and we did the right thing we came in the evening after five so we beat the crowd of the morning and the afternoon. It was decorated nice with flowers and balloons and the food is always delicious. Our appetizers were great, there was only five of us without my parents so we got fried calamari, mozzarella sticks for the kids and they're delicious...delicious ribs as an appetizer. For our main courses, they always aim to please. My Daughter got linguine Alfredo, her boyfriend got stuffed raviolis and My Son had his go to penne Alla vodka sauce, all the plates had enough for four people. My wife ordered her favorite, lasagna, which came out on a plate that looked like there was a cake on it, lol, and I decided to get the rack of lamb, which came out with an abundance of lamb chops cooked to perfection at medium to medium rare grilled nice and juicy. Each lamb chop mouth watering with a side of mashed potatoes and a salad. It didn't need anything else. There was so much food. We were too stuffed to have any dessert. Took my mom here for her birthday. The service was good, but the food was not good. I ordered a cosmopolitan and it was supposed to be $14 per the menu but they charged me $20.79 and it was horrible. A Cosmo should be a light pink not a dark pink. I also ordered penny vodka. The vodka sauce was soupy and it had a dash of red sauce on the top and I ended up throwing up in the middle of the night. I took my mom and sister out to eat for my moms 67th birthday. She really wanted some seafood , and we have been living in Queens and never been to the famous Lenny's Clam Bar. So many celebrities have come in here and people even try to dine and dash here so that means the food is that good seriously though the staff were friendly , knowledgable on the menu, and even Lenny himself checked on us during dining. Lenny's clam bar is big , they have so many rooms and tables for families. They even have a woman coming to the table and asking if we would like to take pictures which is nice. The decorum is pictures of Lenny and celebs as well as nice art or photos on the wall. The food was amazing!!! So filling so tasty. There is only one chef making food which I liked , yes we waited 20 minutes for our entree however I respect and love the fact each dish curated with love and perfection. Each dish that came out the kitchen to other tables looked so good , I couldn't wait to get our food! The snow crab was buttery without even having butter on it ! It blew my mind how tasty the rice and snow crab was. Fried clams were very tasty and cooked perfectly. The garlic bread was genuinely juicy and garlicky , we wish we could make it at home! The linguini with calamari and Lenny's spicy sauce was soooooo good. Calamari cooked to perfection with a nice crispy outer layer and the marinara sauce with a kick ; it paired well with my calamari and linguini. My sister loved her Chicken penne alla vodka! So very DISAPPOINTING!! This is NOT the old LCB that I remember! First, I ordered the house Pinot Grigio which was horrible! It was MY mistake that I did not ask the brand but I assumed based on the history of the restaurant they would have offered something better than Barefoot wine as their house wine! Next, I ordered the linguine with white clam sauce and asked for extra garlic. Although it was a large portion, it was bland, tasteless, only had 4 actual clam shells, and seemed like a premade sauce that was thin, watery, and a bland liquid with no garlic (that I asked for). I then asked for the garlic and also had to add crushed red pepper to give it some flavor. Finally, I ordered a limoncello - I asked if it was kept in the freezer but was told it was kept in the refrigerator because they do not have a freezer to keep it in - I agreed to get but it was not very cold. Then my friend ordered the coconut sorbet which was obviously not fresh and came in half a coconut, which was lovely however it was so frozen solid that he couldn't even use a fork to eat it and end up, leaving the majority of it behind. So obviously they DO have a freezer that is working overtime! (Any true Italian keeps their limoncello in a freezer!) So, all I can say is that I am extremely disappointed and certain that the original family members who started this business would not be happy with how commercialize this establishment has become. I ordered from Uber Eats, and service was fast. I ordered before I read the reviews, and I got the seafood mix for two. It came with two side salads and a loaf of bread. I wasn't expecting anything knowing that it's in Marinara sauce. It tasted ok and needed a little seasoning, which I added myself. I have to say the portion is way more than for two people, at least 4, I would say. It came with a lobster tail cut in half, so they looked tiny. Went there with my daughter her husband and her son. After not going for quite some time we decided to give it a try again. Calamari was like rubber. After eating the calamari me & my son in law didn't want to try the Scungilli, so we both order a hamburger platter, and get what we both left most of it in the dish the roll was dry and the meat was horrible.We didn't want to send them back because we aren't like that. To finish it off coffee and Italian cheesecake, guess what even that was horrible. I couldn't even finish the cake it was not like Italian cheesecake I been eating for years. I love it. I grew up in Brooklyn but haven't lived there in decades. This was just like coming home. Hardly perfect, but I'd go back in a second. The bread in the breadbasket was forgettable but there were breadsticks, the key to my heart. The complimentary bruschetta was a nice gesture but tomatoes in January? Not the best choice. The fried calamitous app was a standout, sweet, crispy, freshly fried, and served with an excellent arrabiatta sauce. The green salad had the obligatory thick blue cheese dressing. We ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo for two and the serving was crazy generous. It could have served 3 or 4 easily. Oddly enough, it was not served over pasta. The assortment of shellfish was excellent (including scungili) but the sauce, although good, could have been spicier. The steamed veggie side was, unsurprisingly, forgettable. We couldn't even consider dessert, but the cappuccino and black Sambuca were very nice. I don't get to Lenny's too often but when I do, it's always a treat. We came here from Long Island and it was not a terrible drive on the Belt, which really helps your mood... I love the fact that they also have valet parking, this too enhances the experience before you even walk in. You walk into a classic old school restaurant. Great venue and you're already waiting for some of this great food to come your way. I was there with my Kiwanis group of about 30 people and we went right upstairs to a large bright room. We had an excellent waiter who really made sure that everyone had what they needed throughout our dinner. Everything was served family style which made the whole process easy. We started with a delicious Bruschetta, pasta with broccoli, and muscles. all incredibly yummy and plentiful. There was a certain freshness around everything we ate. Our main meal consisted of Chicken Francaise and Eggplant Parmigiana. Again, everything we ate was fresh, saucy, tasty and served in a plentiful amount. Hey Chat, I tried takeout from here and was very disappointed. It was because of the reviews that I even gave this place a shot. I ordered the lobster bisque and stuffed mushrooms. Much like Randazzo's in Sheepshead Bay, this is very much an Italian seafood joint, given a lot of pasta dishes and the plentiful combinations with the seafood, all for about similar prices. The food is kinda bland, not a lot of taste in much of the menu items, and the mixed vegetables I received with my order looked nasty. The potatoes on there had onions on it; onions and me are like Hatfields and McCoys; we do not get along. Though worth the adventure out to Howard Beach, I do not see myself returning. read more

There are huge chunks of potatoes; it will definitely fill you up. There were plenty of cut up pieces of clams but they were overpowered by the thickness of the chowder in my opinion. People around us, who came after us were getting their meals and we were still waiting. After an hr of waiting and us asking our waitress for an update the food came and it wasn't anything we asked for. We spent a little over an hr for nothing because the food that was delivered to our table wasn't something we could or wanted to eat. It was a sucky experience.
