I recently brought my son and daughter-in-law for a special anniversary. It has been one of our favorite restaurants since they opened. One of us is a vegetarian and there is always plenty to choose from and the chef is always accommodating. The food never disappoints. The chef is so creative with his specials and we always enjoy our selections. The wine list has wonderful selections. And the service is wonderful! Yesterday was my birthday and I called the restaurant three times and left a message that I wanted a reservation when they opened up at 3:30 p.m. I never got a call back. I drove to the restaurant( 3:30) with my elderly mother and pulled in the parking lot and called again and the guy that answered made a comment to me knowing I was the same person that had called three times earlier and said why didn't I wait for him to call me back. So rude ! Besides that, I said excuse me I'm just a customer asking if you have a reservation for two ...it's my birthday. His response was "I just got here. I was a few minutes late. The place is still dirty from last night and hasn't been cleaned up. Call me back in 15 minutes." You know how that story ended. Goodbye is how it ended. Never again. read more

We had our company holiday dinner here. Great food but the staff were unpleasant! 1. I got hit in the head with the menu when the waiter was handling it on top of my head. 2. Rudely said we had to share the dessert menu because there's not enough to go around. 3. I changed my mind one the dessert of my choice before he even left our table and came back saying there's not enough of the dessert I choose. He handed me the dessert and kept saying I should give it to someone else because it wasn't my initial choice, like wtf it's already in front of me and he's mumbling that it belongs to someone else. 4. I have passed this restaurant many times but recently stopped in to celebrate a birthday with a large group (15-20 people). The staff was very attentive to the many needs of all the people in our group, even added the additional chairs without complaining when more people showed up than expected. The bread basket was filled with a good variety of breads and we were provided with 3 dipping options which included a roasted peppers spread and marinara with olive oil. I would caution against eating too many because it won't leave you with much room for the real food. I started off with Calamari Fritti which was cooked just right and accompanied by robust fra diavolo sauce. An honorable mention should be given to the Arancini Bolognese which was a very tasty rice ball. The shining star was the Petto D'Anatra alla Orange "Grand Mariner" which featured a perfectly cooked pan-roasted duck breast covered in a Grand Mariner orange sauce. The sauce was very flavorful and the breast was extremely succulent. The Tagliatelle D'Il Luogo was low in seafood with only half of a lobster with a sprinkling of crab meat. There is an off menu version that came with more seafood called the Signature Dish. I would recommend skipping dessert even though the birthday person does get a complimentary one. Local Italian fine dining serving up a 5 star experience every and any time you go. Prior to the COVID pandemic [2020/21] I was able to pop into this location a couple times, whether for a restaurant week special barside or with family for a birthday dinner. Each time satisfied the tastebuds to always walk away wanting to go back and try some more of their menu. Most know that the pandemic did a number on local small businesses, with many struggling to survive. I was very happy to see as things started coming back to our new normal, this local gem survived through it all. They now are still offering the outdoor [heated] dining tent [all year round it seems] since the capacity and social distancing went into effect to get all local restaurant businesses back up and running, if you wish to still dine in that manner. It's a new year 2022 and I just had to get back in to see where they were at with their diverse menu that i remembered. I was not let down one bit from beginning to end of an exquisite meal noting that that menu seemed to be expanded, total bonus, all the traditional Italian fan favorites and more delicately plated and presented to perfection! Started this chilly February evening with my guy at the bar having a Gimlet and Courvoisier VS Cognac as we waited for the table we reserved. Once seated we heard the chefs daily specials which all sounded fabulous...so of course had to personally temp my tastebuds with a few. Started of with their seafood avocado mango appetizer and the chefs Cauliflower Lobster soup of the day. Both were nicely presented and tasted great, although a little more sizable Lobster pieces of course would have made it that much better ;) What can I say I'm a seafood lover, so maybe l weigh on the side of never enough. :) I followed that up by selecting the Pistachio crusted Swordfish over a dijon creme sauce with mashed potatoes and spinach chefs entree special. This fish was so masterfully cooked to perfection, softly curling into the fork with such ease, I enjoyed every last bite! My guy opted a more traditional veal entree and ordered their Vitello Alla Saltimbocca. He raved cooked nicely with great flavor throughout, not one piece left behind or lost their either, well except for the bite I tried. ;) We couldn't stop their and nor should anyone, as one of any of their dessert selections to indulge in solo or shared is highly recommended, coupled with a Cappuccino and dessert liquor of course. We selected their Cheesecake and Apple pie and shared across sipping our Cappuccinos [w/Disaronno & Kahlua liqueurs]. Overall a fabulous welcome for my guys first time there, as he has been dying to try IL Luogo out for some time, and a more marvelous, mouthwatering return for this foodie ;) Nothing like closing out the night for all in style. I will be back for sure and highly recommend to even the pickiest palettes to definitely dine here and repeat...You won't be disappointed. read more

I live in Maryland and had family business in LI. They wanted Don Pepe but we ended up at Il Luigo. Nice spot, nice music, nice Server Frank Three had lobster on black ink pasta. One had sea bass. One had salmon steak, one had pasta a la vodka I hit the jackpot with the ricotta stuffed pasta In maybe the best bolognese I can recall. You must try this place. Loved it there. It's such a beautiful location especially outside in the tent it's awesome. The music playing, perfectly heated definitely a great date night location. They even have valet parking which is really nice so makes you worry even less about your night. The food was super delicious and came out fast. The servers are on their game, bring your drinks and refill them without asking and are very attentive. My only issue and it seems to be the reoccurring problem with these modern Italian locations is the servings. I'm Italian and I know if I have a family member two chicken cutlets I'd get hit with a spoon lol that being said it was all very delicious I just wish there was a little more. The presentation on the crime brûlée was super impressive! I wish you could see the video, but I took a snap shot, the lit flames were awesome. read more

Ok- I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. A few girlfriends and I decided to finally try... Ambience: 4/5. it's a nice, typical Italian set up. I went at night so the candles and the outdoor lights were a nice touch Service: 3/5. Service was slow, and not very friendly. We were told there is no cocktail menu because they were working on a new one. They do have a wine list but Don't expect any fancy house wine- they don't list the vineyard name of the house wines. We were trying to get the attention of our waiter but got the attention of the water steward. We watched him tap out waiter on the shoulder and point to our table but our waiter walked in the other direction and it took him a while to attend to us. Food: 4/5. Luckily the food was pretty good. The bread basket was warm and the dips were tasty. We had appetizer specials- Burrata salad and Grilled Octopus & Calamari. Both were good but we could not find but 2 pieces of octopus. The orrecheti pasta was tasty but not exceptional. The pasta was a decent Al dente. The lamb chop special was decent. They were medium (as requested) but a bit more bland than I'm used to. The potatoes & veggie side were definitely after thoughts. The duck could've been rendered a bit more and the portion was pretty small. We didn't have dessert. read more

We had a pleasant visit to Luogo's. All the meals and appetizers were perfect. The sangria was amazing. I doubted our server when I saw he didn't write down our very large order but was relieved when he came back around to confirm he had my meal correctly. It's not a place I'd go back to by choice but defiantly wouldn't mind coming back if someone chooses this place for their birthday again. The vibe of this place is very nice, romantic, dress up nice and go on a date kind of place. I did see kids here but I wouldn't pick this as a place to bring younger children to. One thing I didn't like too much was one of the staff members knew someone from our party and kept coming over to our table and having side conversations with him, even bought him and only him a shot of some fancy cognac which was kind of rude seeing as he could of atleast offered the birthday girl (very clear by the balloons who we were celebrating) a shot as well. We were a party of about 14 so I get not getting a round for the table. read more

As a first time customer, I absolutely loved it. The food was delicious. It's a lovely space. I was promised crying children by a 1-star reviewer. The children must've had the night off . We dined outdoors in their large patio. Looks like they converted some parking into a significant amount of seating. While the additional outdoor seating is great, the parking lot is a little tight to maneuver. We started with the fried calamari and one of their specials - burrata salad with truffles. Both were good and came out promptly. For our main course, we shared two of their seafood specials. One was black fettuccine in a buttery white wine sauce with mussels, little clams, and half a lobster. The other side was striped bass in a light and creamy red sauce with mussels and clams. I liked the way the former dish came together better but the red sauce in the latter was outstanding. I scooped up every bit of red sauce with bread. For dessert, we shared the chocolate lava cake. We had some wine throughout the meal. The wine list is decent with a bit of variety. They've got a reserves list for the more exquisite wine aficionados. read more

Visit Date: August 10, 2018 My husband and I like to celebrate our monthiversaries. This one we recently celebrated wasn't a notable one that was cause for a celebration but my family was willing to watch our 2 year old after work so we planned a date night. I guess having our 2 year old watched so we could enjoy a grown up meal was kind of notable. We'll be on a cruise for our wedding anniversary and we'll have our son at our anniversary dinner on the cruise so this could also be counted as our wedding anniversary dinner too. I've always passed Il Luogo and have eyed it enviously so we decided to come here. What a great experience we had. We also noticed a family with their older kids that actually sit down (our 2 year old never stays at the table for our whole meal), so when he's old enough to actually sit down we can take him here with us. I had the special appetizer of avocado stuffed with crabmeat, the swordfish dinner, the chocolate lava cake (an extra cheat for the week), two glasses of pinot grigio and a dessert coffee that had shots of espresso, sambuca and sugar on the rim. The staff here was great, they were very friendly. I was unsure but it seemed like the manager was making his way to each table to greet the guests and find out how they were doing with the meal. The food was also pretty good. I opted for the swordfish because the menu didn't say that it came with mashed potatoes, but it was served with mashed potatoes anyway. I took a bite because my husband was kind of hounding me but since being on my nutritionist plan I've come to realize I have never really enjoyed fries or potatoes (except sweet potatoes) so I really didn't like or want the potatoes. Other than that the food was excellent, very tasty, delicious and bought to us in a prompt but leisurely fashion. Walked in at 9:38pm (tonight) on a Friday night and was told they started cleaning the kitchen and wouldn't serve us. We confirmed they closed at 11pm but the "kitchen was being closed, starting at 9:30pm". 8 minutes? Ok... We wanted to taste their food and potentially book our baby's christening there this November. Now that's one less restaurant we'll be considering having a party there. Went here for Easter 2023. Lobster bisque and complimentary bread were ok. Peach Bellini was inconsistent, okay at times and overly sweet at other times. Old dried lime was used, very unprofessional. The fruitte di mar was terrible. Half the lobster was boiled, the other half was breaded and like leftovers from another person's dish. Both parts of the lobster were rubbery. The black fettuccini was way too thick for a noodle, making it unbecoming. The sea bass was alright, not the freshest even though it's in season this time of year. Very thin. The artichoke hearts were tough and you could tell they were old. Way too fibrous. Octopus and Calamari salad was good. Veal chop grilled was good. This food is not worth the cost at all. We were seated outside in a tent and the heaters toward the back were off so we had to wear our jackets. Waiter service was fine. Don't think we'll ever come back. My friend and I came here looking for a traditional Italian dinner. We shared arancini bolognese and the stuffed artichoke. The bolognese was okay. The artichoke was really good, wish I had more before stopping to save room for the rest of the meal. I had the Tagliatelle D'Il Luogo for my entree. The seafood was a bit tough and chewy. Ambience was laid back and could accommodate all types from a nice romantic dinner to a group dinner. 10 out of the 12 dishes ordered were on point and tasty. Everyone raved about the seafood dishes - esp the salmon. I got the pork chops - it was severely over cooked and really dry but the flavors of the sauce were really good. Maybe it's because we had such a big order? I left 90% of my food on the plate and they said nothing when they picked up the plate.
