I used to come here years ago and actually enjoy the food and the quality. It was a place I'd recommend, and I liked coming here for a nice night out. But it seems everything went downhill, and now it's completely unrecognizable. First off the bartender was drunk, sloppy, loud, and dressed completely inappropriately for a steakhouse. She was acting totally unprofessional disappearing all the time, talking about inappropriate stuff with customers, making drinks with dirty shakers, sticking her hands in the garnishes after putting her hands everywhere including touching dirty silverware and plates. Watching her work was honestly disgusting, I couldn't believe anyone thought this was okay. The whole bar felt chaotic and unsafe, and it really ruined the vibe before we even got our food. Speaking of the food, it was just as bad. The sushi definitely was not fresh, the ginger was brown and old, and my steak came out overcooked even tho I asked for medium. I've been to cheap spots that do better than this, and this place charges premium prices. It's crazy. Even small details felt off presentation sloppy, drinks served in dirty glasses, everything felt rushed and careless. And the bathrooms... don't get me started. Pee all over the floors, trash overflowing, smells like no one has cleaned them in days. Completely unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one that acts like a fancy steakhouse. Honestly, way too expensive for this kind of Hooters-level behavior. The staff should be embarrassed that this is the standard here. The only reason I am giving this place one star is because I can't give it less. The service was beyond awful. We were there for 40 mins before we got water. The waiter was no where to be found after he took our drink & app order. We waited for almost another hour for the drinks, apps, & bread. When the apps finally came out they were cold. Why you ask, because the kitchen runner left the platters on a random table. No one from the staff/management seemed to care. We left after almost 2 1/2 hours without getting our food. It was cold up in the in the "VIP" level, one of the people at our table had to get up and turn the heat up.The only person that seemed to know what they were doing was the bus boy! Had a reservation and waited 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. We asked if she could put in our food order in, and she told us to wait until she brought our drinks (very sweet though). We had a great time at the bar before heading over to our table. The bartender was very friendly and everyone enjoyed their drinks. I tried the Reposado Pineapple Marg which was great. For an appetizer we ordered a roll from the specials menu. It has i don't remember what was in it but there was shrimp tempura and kani. Delicious! I ordered the Autumn Roll for my main course. I'm not usually one for spicy tuna but it was absolutely amazing as well. Before we got the appetizer, we were served incredible pita which I believe was homemade, came with a cucumber yogurt/Taziki sauce and hummus. Yum! Miserable experience on NYE! They should be disgusted on how things went during our dinner. Buckle up because this is going to be a long review. First, our party of 9 was relegated to a private room upstairs. It took 35 minutes to even see a soul up there and be given water to drink. We finally got water after asking a bus boy that gave water to the other table that sat 30 minutes after us. Our waiter came 40 minutes later to take our drink order, and we begged him to take our appetizer order since we already saw how this night was going. 20 minutes later our sodas, beer and 2 sangrias came out (not complicated drink orders). We put our entrees in at some point. Around an hour and a half into dinner our appetizers make it to the upstairs room. The two food runners get to the top of the stairs and proceed to just stand there, they didn't know where to bring the food. Mind you there were only 2 tables upstairs, so it wasn't rocket science. Our appetizers are getting cold so we went over to the bus boys and took the appetizers to our table. All the food on the appetizers was cold and just not tasteful. We ate it because it's been 1.5 hours and we're hungry at this point. Now we wait for our entrees. At one point our waiter came up to us and said "Entrees will be a while", we've been there 2 hours already. 2 hours and 45 minutes in and we decided to GET UP AND LEAVE! Manager never came to us once, nobody apologized. Got up and walked out. MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED ON HOW THEY TREATED US. Never going back. We went to Thom Thom last Saturday night. I was really looking forward to this place! It was busy when we arrived and didn't have reservations. The hostess Alyssa told us it would be a 30 minute wait, so we headed to the bar with friends to have a drink. After 40 minutes I noticed that everyone who had arrived after us without reservations had been seated. We reminded Alyssa that we were still waiting and she told Kell us it would be another 15 minutes. After 15 minutes had passed I walked over again and told her that there were two empty tables in the bar area (I was Hangry ) and that she had sat everyone down who arrived after us. She quickly put both tables together and we ordered more drinks and appetizers. Everything was delicious! Mike was our waiter and he was just soooo nice! Thom Thom is one of my favorite restaurants in my area. They serve many different type of sushi, seafood, and meats. I'm really great friends with the owner and sometimes it does get super crowded because it is a popular place! Make sure to make reservations because of this. The service of everyone is great they are all really hard working in the restaurant and bar and you can have great conversations with the servers. What an absolute class act. The Mrs and I came here for our anniversary, having scoped this place out for a long, long time (but never actually made it here).. so we decided to give it a shot. Very quiet for a Friday night, which was great. Service was decent- food was very good. I don't eat sushi, so I got steak and lobster.. the Mrs got sushi. My ribeye was a perfect medium rare. She enjoyed her sushi. What really struck me, to be honest, was the owner Danny. What a gentleman. I always appreciate hands on workers, but I love hands on owners, because it shows that they're leaders and they care. And Danny really sealed the deal for me. I have to express my utter disappointment in today's Mother's Day service. My family had a 345 reservation. We entered to a dirty dining room with chairs everywhere. We were sat immediately and then had to ask for water and menus and a server after 20 minutes of waiting. We finally ordered appetizers and drinks and received them about 40 minutes later. After almost 3 hours, 2 of our 6 meals arrived / we were continuously offered food that we did not order. No one in the dining room was eating. The 2 individuals in my party finished eating their meals and the missing ones were never brought. We had a 2 year old and 5 year old with us. After 3 hours we had to end the meal, leaving myself and my children and husband with NO DINNER. We received the bill and although there were kick backs, we still paid over $150 and left to go get take out. I do NOT feel good about this at all, having basically ruined my Mother's Day. We were offered NO apology from the manager, but our waiter told us that the kitchen was busy with to go orders. That is a disgrace. We chose Thom Thom to celebrate Mother's Day - we have been here many times before and even recommended it to friends - and we did not eat. I do plan on calling tomorrow, because for me this is a big deal. $150 and we left to get McDonald's. After reading the below review about Valentine's Day, it seems this establishment prioritizes money over quality. Please let me know what can be done. We had been a few times in the past and loved the food and ambience but things seem to be going downhill here, with unfriendly staff and long wait times. We arrived at 6:55 for a 7:00 reservation and were told upon arrival that it would be at least 15 minutes of waiting. By 7:20 we still weren't seated after being told it would just be 'another few minutes' so we left and went elsewhere. A table that had been seated at 7 was just being greeted by their server after 20 min of sitting without drinks. Staff didn't seem to care. If they had offered to buy us a drink at the bar while we waited that would have helped but they acted like they'd be doing us a favor by seating us and having us drop $150 on a meal. I came here with my sister for restaurant week and we had an excellent experience . The pork Oso Bucco was so tender and delicious. I highly recommend that dish. I left a one star review a few months ago and am now upgrading it to 5! Originally the service was abysmal at best. The owner Danny contacted me asking me to give it another chance. So last night I did. My experience last night was a complete 180°. The service could not possibly have been any better. The wait staff was fully attentive. Also someone came over to make sure everything was ok. Food was also fantastic. Kudos to all for a 5 star experience. I'm a big fan of Thom Thom. I think the first time I tried the food was during the height of pandemic when we did a pick-up order. The food is always delicious. I've had the roast pork and the Chilean sea bass. We always come here during the holidays (like Easter or Mother's/Father's Day) and the food and service never disappoints! Thom Thom...where was the sear on the steak? While the steak's temperature was cooked well, it looked like it was cooked in an Easy-Bake Oven. The sear on a steak is typically where much of the flavor resides, yet in this case, the steak was so bland that it seemed to lack it entirely. I would rather spend the extra money to get a better quality steak somewhere else. The sluggish service throughout the meal also left much to be desired. Despite the restaurant not being super crowded, we were surprised by how long it took for our food to finally make its way to our table. Came here for restaurant week around 5 on a Sunday, and it became pretty packed! We had ordered the winter salad, a special roll, classic roll, and the apple crisp dessert, which had a little bit of a funky taste, for $42 - all in all the food was OK, we had ordered green tea thinking it was similar to a sushi restaurant, but it was just a tea bag with some hot water. The sushi didn't taste all that flavorful, and there wasn't much scallion in the yellowtail roll, but I was happy that they had the option for brown rice vs white for the extra $1. Our server was very nice overall, so no stars taken off there, but if you are looking for good sushi, this wouldn't be my top choice going forward! My brother in law's dad raves about the meatballs here, and guess what? He's right. They're great! Thom Thom is conveniently located right by the LIRR. The restaurant is pretty big and can accommodate large groups. We were lucky enough for it to be Long Island Restaurant Week as well. Got the giant meatball as my appetizer, and for me entree, went with the Scottish salmon, which was very good. Sweet potato risotto was delicious with a ring of pesto goodness on the plate that enhances the wonderful grilled salmon! Favorite place in Southshore LI. I have been coming here for years. Very consistent with food and service. No need to worry if you're craving Sushi, and other friends want steak, they make sure everyone is happy. My favorite is the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Surf and Turf Roll is everyone's favorite too. Chilean Sea Bass melts in your mouth. The Rib Eye Steak is always cooked perfectly. This time a group of us tried some of the new stuff from the menu. I dined in here with a friend for restaurant week. We should have chosen somewhere else... First of all, what cuisine is this? When you sit at your table, you are given pita bread with hummus and Tzatziki. There's sushi, steak, seafood, pork, duck on the menu...the list goes on and on. I'm very confused at what type of restaurant this is, or what it is trying to be. Greek? Asian? American? Steakhouse? Your guess is as good as mine is. Anyway, we had made reservations and upon arrival we were sat at a table near the bar, NOT in the dining room. We were not happy with that at all. Besides the restaurant week offerings, we were hungry and decided to order pork dumplings and kani salad without spicy mayo, but with ginger dressing. Off of the Restaurant Week menu we ordered pork tacos and Black Angus Beef Meetball. We waited....and we waited. 45 minutes went by, and nothing had arrived at the table. Our waitress finally came over to tell us that they were out of the ginger dressing. It should not have taken 45 minutes for her to find that out. We ordered another order of dumplings in place of the kani salad. When they came out they were steamed when we specifically asked for fried... and our waitress assured us that they were fried. We were told they don't have a fryer. Hmm, okay. Next came out the pork tacos which were cold. The manager came over and said it is cold because of all the cold toppings on top. Okay, that was an "acceptable" excuse at the time. Thinking about it now, it doesn't make sense. I've consumed many tacos in my life and the protein element never gets cold because of cold toppings. My friend didn't really like her meatball. For my entrée I ordered the sushi special. The sushi special included one special roll and one basic roll. I went with the Autumn Roll and salmon avocado roll. It was just okay. I had asked to wrap up my meal as I was getting full. When it was brought back I noticed I was missing one piece of my sushi. I didn't say anything due to the fact that I was just tired and wanted to go home. We had been there for over 2 hours at this point. My friend didn't like her paella at all. She ended up getting steak instead, but got it to go. For dessert I ordered the apple crisp. It was okay....it was in a caramel sauce. The caramel sauce tasted....off. It absolutely tasted as if there was alcohol in it. It had a very weird alcohol taste. Our waitress dismissed it...but I highly believe there was alcohol in it. When you drink as much as I do, you will taste alcohol right away...in anything. Due to our many issues, the manager did take some things off the bill. While the food is excellent at this establishment, the service is severely lacking. It takes at least a half hour for a waiter to take your order or even return to your table. A number of other town residents have mentioned to me as well that the past few times attending this restaurant, that the service has gone down. It's very disappointing as we love to eat at Thom Thom. I hope they can hire some more staff and that will fix the issue. read more
