What a fabulous meal for Restaurant Week! My husband and I ordered the same appetizers appetizer, entree and dessert. We loved the "Grilled Steakhouse Bacon with Spicy Maple Syrup with Roasted sweet pepper / red onion / zucchini." Mmm bacon! Next we enjoyed the "Pan Seared Scottish Salmon with Lemon Dill Beurre Blanc with baby bok-choy / roasted grape tomatoes / kale and fresh corn risotto. The salmon was moist and cooked perfectly! We eat here quite often. Worst dining experience we have ever had We ate there December 17,2022. The food was very good,worst service we have ever experienced. Took approximately 40 minutes to bring my wife's mango martini! Took at least. 90 minutes to get our entrees! Couldn't find the waiter. Finally went to the front to get our bill and my others were experiencing the same problems! Ever dieted dessert or coffee if we did will still be there. Ive been in and out of Thom Thom a few times over the last decade and while we always manage to have a great time, it's not really due to the food or aesthetics of the large square room. We waited a good 30 minutes for our reservation for 8 made long ago. We were celebrating a 50th Birthday and in hindsight it would have been a nice gesture to send over drinks while we patiently waited our table located in the most cumbersome location, though that turned out to be fine. Drinks were good, bus service excellent... these guys cleared and kept our table tidy with a smile and are to be commended. We ordered 4 or 5 of the much spoken about Surf and turf rolls, and all agreed they were pretty disappointing... the steak overdone and a general blasé amount of the mentioned surf. We had fun !! And the waiter was patient and likely too distracted to be somewhat interactive beyond taking orders and delivering drinks and food. The room was packed and it was busy, when we left all had gone and we were the last to walk out. We went here for our anniversary. We both ordered steak. Service was terrible and food was just ok. We started off with the edamame. There was no salt and pepper on table , so when appetizer came, we had to go looking for someone to get salt and pepper. My husband had to walk into the bar to get someone to get it. By the time it came, the appetizer was a little cold. Our steaks were fine but I wouldn't rave about them especially since this advertises as a steakhouse. After dinner, a coffee was ordered and no milk and sugar was given. Again, my husband had to hunt down someone for them. Always welcomed to Thom Thom by warm and friendly staff and I always leave with a very happy and full stomach. The food here is always served fresh and presented in a very appetizing way. You can't go wrong with either the steaks or the seafood dishes here. I love getting the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, crispy with a kick, and the pork scallion dumplings are never a disappointment. Whenever the sea bass is available, that is a must order with the truffle mushroom risotto. The sushi pizza is great as an appetizer as well and a good choice for sharing. The ribeye or the cowboy steaks are both big juicy steaks that come out sliced as an option and are extremely well seasoned. The chocolate lava cake with ice cream is a go-to for dessert (ask for the ice cream on the side as the warm cake tends to melt it by the time it gets to your table). As for drinks, they have an impressive wine and beer list with a full bar that can attend to your requests for various cocktails. Came here for a Mother's Day dinner with my boyfriends family. I am giving it three stars simply because of food, the service left very little to be desired. I know it's Mother's Day Dinner and you aren't going to get 100% service but this was beyond ridiculous. It's like our server took our order then forgot about us, 45 Minutes later would remember and that's how the whole night went. I started with a Pineapple Margarita (delicious), it was served in a pint beer glass that that was strange. My boyfriend brother got a mango margarita and his mom a Bloody Mary. We all enjoyed our drinks but we never got asked if we wanted refills or anything. My boyfriend dad got a soda never got asked if he wanted a refill. For appetizers a couple of us got the lobster bisque and it was honestly terrible. Looked like a purée and no lobster in it at all. Unimpressed. For the main entree I got the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes. That was delicious and cooked to perfection. A couple of others got the skirt steak, rib eye and NY Strip. Everyone definitely enjoyed their steaks. For dessert we got Chocolate lava cake, NY cheesecake and apple crisps. Desserts were okay nothing special. I think what I'm starting to learn about eating out is that unless you receive a tip from someone about a dish/meal go with what the restaurant is. Twice at Thom Thom I deviated from the sushi and the experiences was a failure. I ordered the steak tidbits and there was almost no steak. Another time I ordered the steak it was just ok. My wife and family have dined here many time and we have always had a wonderful time. Aside from parking this is a great place for either a dine in or takeout experience. If you're on the mailing list they are true to their coupons. Staff is very friendly, inviting and courteous. The overall ambiance inside is very warm and inviting. We always enjoy sushi at Thom Thom. It's Alway Great and our go to. We decided to get The calamari and Tonight we were disappointed. It was always a great appetizer. I don't know what happened, but very dry and lacking sauce/ calamari . Service wasn't as good as we usually get and the Appetizer wasn't what it used to be. Picture attached. Wandered in last night after spending some time at a local bar near the Wantagh to train station. Was pleasantly surprised the place has some great ambience ,cozy, bustling, but not too loud. Pretty eclectic menu, with something to please everyone. Sushi can be had as well as a steakhouse quality Filet Mignon. Owner Danny is from Taiwan, you can see the Asian influence, but Thom Thom is by no means an Asian restaurant. Matt, was a pro waiter and made our night enjoyable without being overbearing. I wanted to give Thom Thom five stars, but sadly I just can't. The decor was timeless and tasteful. We stopped in for dinner at 5pm on Monday night so, of course, the place was fairly empty. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the Amazon $25 for $50 deal, immediately telling us that the prix fixe cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon of any kind. Halfway through our meal, I overheard an elderly couple in the booth next to us get a complimentary order of coconut shrimp because they wanted the prix fix but had the same Amazon deal as us. So, I was a little annoyed that we didn't get free shrimp but they did....and guess who spent more, was less demanding and was sure to leave the better tip? That's right...because old people are geniuses and we young folk are suckers. Anyhow, the food was great. We started with the Kung Pao Calamari ($11.95) appetizer, then I had Grilled Jumbo Wild Shrimp ($23.95) with mushroom risotto (to die for) and grilled baby bok choy. BF had the boneless ribeye ($28.95) and added on 3 jumbo shrimps ($12.95) and a side order of macaroni & cheese $7.95). So, our bill with tax, before the coupon was $93.14. If you deduct the $25 savings, we $68 plus a generous 25% tip. And the meal was worth it. HOWEVER...there were swarms of pesky little flies and gnats around the restaurant that kept landing on our plates. It was disgusting and seemed totally unnecessary for a freezing cold January evening. I brought it to our waiter's attention and, apparently, the management knows there is a problem and had "someone come to spray." Well, the spray didn't work! They really need to do something about those insects because it was a complete turn-off (see photo of two of these flies crawling all over my shrimp tails). read more

The food is good but the service sucks !!! If your just two people going to eat they won't let you sit at a booth and they always try and put you in the bar section.. even with a reservation!!! The lady put us in the back at a table facing a wall?! Then we got up and I told her no we want to sit at a booth. She said none was open so then we had to sit in the bar area and she was complaining that we were sitting at a table that sits 4... sorry I'm not sitting against the wall with the half booth half chair tables. You are practically sitting with the people next to you. so ridiculous. This happen to us last time too it was dead in there and they didn't want to sit us at a booth... maybe worry about your customers that are already there trying to eat then the ones that are coming in. This is why you make reservations right?!? Took forever to get the food then they forgot one of our side dishes (only reason why we came here was for the mushroom risotto) and it took 20 mins to even get someone's attention. & when we finally did they said oh it will be done in 2 mins we just canceled it at that point because we were done with our dinner. I have been coming here for approximately 2 years once a month and the service and food quality has been getting lower and lower. It seems like they can't keep the waiters because each time I go there is different wait staff with personality scores from zero to three on a scale of 1 to 10. It seems like they grab guys off the unemployment line to see if they work out. And apparently it never does. When I enter from Park Ave the restaurant actually looks like it's out of business. Very dark and shady. I will not be back because there is absolutely no reason to come back. Food is small servings, no flavor and overpriced. Me and my boyfriend were planning on coming to Thom Thom the Friday night of Valentine's weekend; it's a restaurant we always pass as we are locals who patron the bars and railroad across the street. It just so happened there was a Groupon available as well - we made a reservation and were very excited for our night out. He got a draft beer and I ordered a sunset martini. We started off with the Kung Pao Calamari. We love trying new flavors of calamari and both agreed it was the 2nd best flavor we've ever tasted (1st place goes to Paddys Loft Thai Chili Calamari). He ordered steak and I ordered the Thom Thom Seafood Paella (it's Lent, I was trying to be good). The steak looked amazing; my boyfriend ate everything on the plate and was pleasantly full. The Seafood Paella was a very generous serving and I only made it a third of the way through. Dinner was an absolute pleasure. Our waitress Kerry was wonderful! She was extremely attentive and so warm and welcoming! I definitely think we will be going back; I'd like to try the steak or the sushi, and I know my boyfriend would love to have another steak, this time with the Asian style sauce added to his plate. read more

I'm giving a 5 star review because during a low point during this pandemic, this local restaurant opened it's heart to offer complimentary Oysters to all (while supplies lasted). It's silly but honestly scoring a bag really made me feel better about things. The folks distributing the oysters, seemingly the owners, were so nice and warm. I had also attended here for my birthday last year and had a delicious steak and shared a pitcher of Sangria with my boyfriend but I am SO excited to return once things are "normal" again! Tried this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago. They started us off by bringing some complimentary pita and hummus to the table which was a nice touch and very tasty. We started with the crazy salmon roll which was a good roll with lots of flavor and fresh fish. For my main i had the porterhouse steak, which came with a side of sweet mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was a very filling dish and i enjoyed every bite. And i also had the pineapple margarita which was great, and also a glass of the twenty rows Cabernet that paired well with the steak. You can't go wrong with anything you order on the menu, but I highly recommend the appetizer sampler, and the Chilean Sea Bass with mushroom risotto. My good friend has been telling me about this place for the longest time, and she finally took me. I honestly think this place is one of the best on Long Island. We booked a reservation, which I recommend to do since it was crowded. Looking at the menu, it was mostly Japanese fusion but with a lot of tempting options. I ordered the mango martini, and it was delicious. Then me and my friend both shared the sampler. It's a lot of food, but not an overwhelming amount. The sampler came with the kung pao shrimp, a crab cake, dumplings, and the peanut sauce calamari, with 3 different dipping sauces. Everything was delicious, but the calamari was my favorite. For the entree me and my friend split the Chilean Sea Bass and the Skirt Steak. My. God. Every bite was better than the last. The bass was like butter, and the risotto was quite possibly some of the creamiest I've ever had. The skirt steak was also equally phenomenal. Not only was it juicy, it wasn't tough or chewy at all. Even when I was close to bursting, I kept eating because it was just that good. For dessert you need to do the chocolate bag. It's a box of hard shell chocolate filled with vanilla, coconut, and chocolate ice cream, caramelized bananas, strawberries, chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. It was dessert heaven. While my meal was excellent, when I asked why the servers were not following the current mask mandate for indoor dining I was told that the manager said they did not have to. If a restaurant cannot follow a mandate regarding public health how can I assume they are following ANY health department regulation? I've been wanting to visit Thom Thom for some time now, and finally made it there last weekend. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will definitely visit there again. The atmosphere was cozy and the place was PACKED out. We were told it would be 30-45 minutes for a table for 2, and ended up only having to wait about 15-20 minutes which was a nice surprise. The only reason I did not give this 5 full stars was because my rack of lamb was not as good as I was hoping it would be. It was definitely very good and tender but they were stuck together rather than separated, so by the time I got to the middle of the meat, it just tasted like plain meat. All the flavor was on the ends, which was a bit disappointing. The service was also a bit slow, and we were not checked on as much as I would have liked. I'm a huge eater, so if I see lobster and lamb on the same menu, I'm getting both and that's exactly what I did. The lobster was so fresh tasting and cooked to PERFECTION. Probably the best lobster I've had on long island in a long time. The mushroom risotto that came with it was TO DIE FOR. Absolute deliciousness! My boyfriend got the marinated skirt steak, which was just PACKED with flavor. Super tender and every bite exploded with flavor. He's dying to go back because this steak was just incredible!
