Recently visited with my friend again for happy hour. Ordered the same items that we did the last time we were there. Our waiter wouldn't honor our happy hour drink prices and insisted on charging us full price even though our drinks were under happy hour! Went to Ridgewood station tavern before a show at mulcaheys and was so impressed! The food was fantastic and the drinks were on point! We were able to make happy hour for a bit and the prices were really great! We had the empanadas, loaded tots, chicken parm egg rolls and the crunch wrap. I'm not even sure which was my favorite because they were all top notch! The tots may have been my top pick. I came for a private party on a Saturday afternoon so I can't comment on the bar experience but overall Ridgewood was very nice. It was a brunch party and we each got to choose an entree. I had the breakfast burrito with hash browns and it was very good for bar food. The service was good as well. I had a few bloodies and they were standard. I was there during a World Cup game and by 1pm the bar area was packed so it seems this is a local hot spot. They have fun railroad themed decor because you're right by the LIRR. Staff was very friendly. Parking is awful but you can park at the train station for free on the weekends. read more

About as run of the mill of a bar as you can get Wantagh. Drink options are nothing to write home to mom about, but the food is surprisingly quite good, I'd personally recommend the French dip sandwich. Staff has always been friendly, but that's really the high point of the place. Definitely attracts a much younger crowd on weekends, despite having the air of being a dad bar otherwise (which by no means is a bad thing in my book). Parking is pretty terrible, there is some along the road on sunrise highway which I could never recommend, or behind the building in a tight lot, but if you can I'd just park in the train station parking lot and walk a bit. read more

They have wings that are exceptional, when Wednesday strolls along im sure to be there as they have .50 wings and im telling you, you wont regret it! For our first visit, they had most of the tables reserved for a party. They accommodated us at a hightop very close to the bar. As it was early, all appetizers were half priced, so we ordered twice as many as we normally would have . The apps were all delicious, and large enough to share. What a great local bar ! Not only is the beer always ice cold but the food is really tops ! Wings are great as well as the burgers. Had the boneless chicken Tenders with Thai sauce so good nice kick. Burger was cooked to perfection medium like I ordered it. Fries came out well done also how I ordered it. Everything we have ordered here always comes out great ! I've passed this place a bunch and have been eager to try it for a while now and it did not disappoint... in fact it mostly exceeded my expectations! Very nice decor/aesthetic (I wish I remembered to take pics). Upon sitting down I was immediately let down by the beer selection but - that was the one and only "negative" part of my experience. They had maybe 6 or so taps only one of which was an IPA, idk why but I expected a broader selection / craft beers. We split an app of the mozzarella triangles that come with vodka sauce and they were soo good! My husband had the Cuban sandwich and subbed the fries for onion rings, all of which he said was really good. I had the Buffalo chicken skyscraper sandwich and it was one of the best Buffalo chicken sandwiches I've had to be honest lol. That seems like a bold statement but it was absolutely amazing. The bread was perfect and soft, nice crispy chicken and bacon and delicious Buffalo sauce and ranch (I swapped ranch instead of bleu cheese). It came with fries that were really good also. Our friends split the chicken "crunch wrap" which is just a regular wrap but the waiter informed us they will be changing it soon to resemble the Taco Bell Crunchwrap. Regardless, they thoroughly enjoyed it! Our waiter was also the bartender and despite having several couples seated at the bar, was incredibly attentive. We all at one point made a comment on how great the service was. That being said; great service, delicious food, nice/clean atmosphere... definitely worth the visit and we will be back! read more

Ridgewood was our pre-game stop before a show at Mulcahy's this past weekend and it was fabulous! My friend and I just ordered a bunch of apps and one thing was better than the next. Loaded tots, chicken parm egg rolls with vodka sauce to dip, cheesesteak empanadas (AMAZING) and the crunch wrap were all a home run. The drinks were just strong enough to leave with a nice pre-concert buzz. We lucked out and made it for happy hour and got $5 Tito's doubles. A cornerstone of Nassau county and some of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Ridgewood station brings not only good times to Wantagh, but some history dating back to the 1800s of what that town and train station was called at one point. But enough of the history lesson let's get down to the great beers on taps, and amazing food that just smacks flavor all across yo face and you will wind up partying like it's 1899!! From the fried mozz moons, to the empanada plates, hot chicken sandwiches that pack a crunch, and not to mention one of the best bar tenders I've ever seen, and my good friend and rockstar legend in the making Eric! I had too much fun on a Saturday night here & unfortunately left my wallet behind. The manager took down my number, found my wallet, & called me the next day to return it to me. Overall not a bad new spot in wantagh. Design is redone but overall the same as the old establishment. Would have been nice if they opened it up or moved the bar to a wall instead of the separate room for dining. Food wise i only got apps but they were all good. My favorite was the Reuben spring rolls and seasoned fries. Wings were decent however the chicken quesadilla was nothing to speak off. Bar wise beers were nice and cheap. They seem to have alot of specials which will be nice, especially during sporting events. Waitresses were nice and reasonably fast. They also had a pretty good knowledge of the menu considering they just opened. Overall a good spot that will probably be great to watch football or any sporting event. Parking is a little tough but its right by the railroad station so thats a plus. read more

Came in to get a drink with my girlfriend who is from New York. I'm from Florida and she lives in Florida now. The bartender wouldn't take my Florida ID and called it fake because his shitty scanner didn't work. Also pointed out that I was wearing a Long Beach hoodie but "supposedly" from Florida. Wouldn't recommend coming here if you're visiting from a different state. And definitely do not wear any type clothing that's not from the state you're from or the bartender will be a dick about it. read more

Ridgewood is definitely one of the new hot spots in Wantagh. The new owners did a WONDERFUL job fixing this place up from what was Cleary's (RIP) - the renovations and decor are so nice and pay a really nice homage to Wantagh with a mural on the wall of the Ridgewood Station which was Wantagh back in the 1800s. Great spot to hang out at with a dart board, lots of TVs for sports and great weekly specials. Monday night is trivia night and $5.95 burgers and drink specials, Wednesday's karaoke night and Thursdays is ladies night. Always appreciate a bar that has stuff to do other than sit there and drink lol. The food is pretty good and their menu has a lot of unique dishes that you won't find everywhere, but also your classics like wings and spin dip. This photo is from one of the first weeks they opened and I believe they've updated it a bit since then but it gives you a good idea of the type of food they have there. A spacious and clean bar with friendly staff. We had Danny and Eric as our bartender and they were great! I recommend the Bloody Mary - even though we went for trivia night on a Monday. The trivia was quite difficult but luckily we made some friends and they joined and helped our group. I got the pretzel and I wouldn't recommend it because it was drenched in butter or oil. My boyfriend got the $5 BYOB (build you own burger) and he said it was delicious and they put a ton of fries on the plate as well. Very difficult to find parking. read more

This is my favorite bar to go to. Sometimes it's a quiet night and they have casual music and it's just a cool calm n collected night at the bar. They have a jukebox, darts wall, and the bartenders are all super nice, Eric is my favorite he's always doing my drinks the best and recommending me good things to try. Bouncers are also very sweet, they keep it real. Bathrooms are quite tight so I hope you're not shy. They have outdoor seating in the back which is nice if you smoke and need to go light one up, (but disclaimer it reeks of dumpster back there). Other nights they have promotions like they'll have random DJs or other events like during the holidays they had an ugly sweater party. I'll never forget the one time they had a DJ to the point the bar converted to a literal night club. This bar has seen the best and worst in me, and it's literally been my go-to. Little things go so far... Saturday Night after 11pm my wife and I decided to run out for a late night snack... We drove past Ridgewood Station Tavern and I ran in to see if they were still serving food. I approached the door and was greeted by a doorman, I ask if they were still serving food, the place was busy. He assured me it was no problem and the kitchen stays open late. The next part of the story is what separates the men from the boys. I asked if the were any tables because my wife was on crutches. Not only did he tell me there was a table but he took time to go around and bring us in from a different entrance do my wife didn't have to walk through the crowded bar. The late night menu is simple, but it's great. The wing were crispy. I was also able to get an arugula salad which was great too. This place is a gem. I wish the owners many years of success. If you're a sports bar fan, this is for you. I went for a meal, however. I guess when you're at a bar, drinking and watching TV (minimum of 5), the food doesn't matter. The pretzel was underdone and oily. My short rib was over-salted and...yes...oily. The onion rings, which in a bar are usually a highlight, were more essence-of-onion rings...small bits of onion in rings that were obviously frozen. The 4-5 stars reviews must have been written by either 1) owner and family 2) staff or 3) drunk patrons. read more

Excellent. Ridgewood Tavern is new to the area and I hope it does well. Nice decor inside (love the Wantagh Railroad Station sign inside and the large picture of Ridgewood Station from the 1800's). Small, but respectable cocktail menu, but what separates this place from others is the food. The short rib tacos are absolutely phenomenal, caught me by surprise with how tasty they were. And find me a bar that gives you healthy brussel sprouts in buffalo sauce. Several other vegetarian options, as well. Very friendly waitress and kudos to the bartender for making us the birthday cake shots when we found one online and showed it to him. Will definitely go back again.
