If a good sandwich is your craving, Press is the place to go! They make fantastic pressed sandwiches like panini's on steroids. The Belgian fries are also amazing with multiple dipping sauces to try as a side. Service was a little slow even though it wasn't busy on a Sunday for brunch time but staff were nice and attentive. The Plainview branch is smaller than others but great local spot if you're in the area. They also have cocktails if you're in the mood.
We've been to the one in Bayside a bunch of times but haven't been in years. We were in the area and saw there was one in Plainview and decided to give it a shot. The four stars is for the drinks. I could see the bartender from where I was sitting and she looked very confused making my lemon drop. Maybe she's training which is fine but I think with her confusion she forgot the vodka. I'm pretty sure I was just drinking simple syrup and lemon juice. I was going to say something but I didn't. The paninis were delicious. I had #38 and my brother had #18. They were both very tasty. We also got their delicious French fries and three dips, roasted garlic, chipotle and avocado crema. The avocado was ok. The cucumber salad is also very good. We noticed the lunch special after we ordered, $16 for half a panini and fries, I would have done that if I saw it before ordering. Two paninis, two cocktails and fries made for a very expensive lunch. I love a good panini so I will be back.
I love that one of my favorite bar/restaurants (Press 195 in RVC) is now closer to home! The owners John and John are both gems (as are all the staff - shoutout to Jess, Max, Sean, all the hostesses, waiters and bartenders) that make this new location feel like Cheers. Everyone knows your name, recalls your favorite dishes (mine is the buffalo chicken panini with fries and all the sauces), makes excellent recommendations, and provides an overall wonderful experience. Something new that I really got a kick out of is their event nights. I went to a paint and sip galentines, which was really cool and different! I hear they have bingo and live music that other patrons have enjoyed. I've been to many events at the RVC location, but I can easily see how the Plainview Press could be a prime spot for showers and parties. I look forward to going back, as are all my friends and family (who also have rave reviews - my mom, best friends, coworkers, dentist, friends of friends just to name a few).
Came here for the first time while visiting Long Island & the service is GREAT. The beautiful woman serving us gave us a great rundown on what's good. Although service was A1, the sandwich is ok. 4/10. The bread is a bit dry, but the idea is there so I'm not knocking it. My mom got the chicken buffalo sandwich & the avocados weren't fresh. Great ambience, but okay sandwiches.
This review is based on take out. My husband and I wanted to try this restaurant for a while now since we moved to Plainview. I ordered the breaded eggplant sandwhich and he got the meat knish sandwhich. We both were very happy with our meals. The food was ready to pick up fairly quickly and they let us use a coupon for complimentary Belgian fries, which also were delicious. Seamless ordering, quick pick up. We are so excited to dine in soon and enjoy the restaurant.
I was thoroughly impressed with Press 195. It is a huge improvement than the past restaurant that was there. I went on a Wednesday night and it was packed. We had Shabil as our server and he was incredible. He was personable, had great recommendations and was patient with my friend and I as we were contemplating what to get. We started with the knish and it was so good. It was definitely panini pressed and came with mustard and pickles. We ordered the Belgian fries for the table with the chipotle mayo, garlic mayo and the Carolina bbq. The Carolina bbq was not good but the solos were great. The fries were so so good, you'd be missing out if you didn't order them! I ordered the #38 which was a steak sandwich. It was absolutely devine. It was jam packed with flavor between the sauce, the caramelized onion, the avocado and the perfectly cooked steak- I had no complaints but used tons of napkins! My friend had the 31 with breaded chicken and loved it. Overall, Press 195 is great. The food, the service and the location! I hope you get Shabil as your server too!
I've visited the Queens location and could not stop thinking about Press 195 since then! I got the same sandwich - #14 with grilled zucchini and peppers with the standout ingredient being the black olive tapenade, yum! You also can't go wrong with the Belgian Fries - we got the Pineapple Sriracha, Garlic Mayo, and Roasted Pepper sauces.
I've been wanting to come here since they opened. I was at the Rockville Center location a few years ago and was happy when I found they were coming to Plainview. While I don't live in Plainview anymore, I took the 30 minute drive to come here for lunch. I was alone, so I opted to sit at the bar. There wasn't any tap beers that I was interested in and I didn't want a cocktail, so water it was. Katie, the bartender was very friendly and attentive. I ordered #42. It had grilled chicken, goat cheese, baby spinach, tomato olive bruschetta and a delicious maple syrup pesto. It was so delicious!! All the flavors went together so well. I wish that maple syrup pesto was a dip on the side. I also got a side of fries with garlic Mayo which was also very good. I'd absolutely return...hopefully beers I like will be on tap next time.
Interesting menu and decent choices. Courteous staff and good service. Good location and decent seating where you're not on top of each other. Food was delicious. Had pastrami sandwich and instead of bread, it was on a knish. Delicious. Have gotten chicken sandwiches in the past that were also very good.
Great food with prompt, friendly service. I love the menu option and draft beer selections. A lot to choose from. Service was blissful with helpful suggestions. Music is classic rock with three big screens playing sports at the bar. All in all a friendly atmosphere with a lot of tasty food and drinks to choose from. I recommend.
Press 195 does it again! I was able to score a spot at their soft opening and everything was amazing. Parking was so easy, the lot is huge and it's just blocks from the hospital and right across from the library. So easy to get to from the 135! The new decor inside is so beautiful! I loved all the blue accents. Plenty of bar seating, high top seating, booth and table seating available. They also have a party room in the back that holds about 45 people (I was told) and it has a beautiful vintage door as artwork and I was obsessed with it. They have a full bar and plenty of beer taps but I ordered the white sangria which never disappoints. Their fries are the same caliber of yummy and crunchy as the other locations and their pressed sandwiches also keep delivering. So happy Press 195 has a new home and I wish them continued success in this new location. Best of luck!
Press 195 in Plainview NY was the place that Extravagant Parties LI hosted their sip and paint event. ( see pix) Evenbrite sold tix on line via a QR. The activity was done in their back room. Some of the table setups were against the back area with no direct light above, making it hard to see the intricate tiny paint by numbers images. I did ask the hostess in front to turn up the lights above onto high. The waiters came around with menus that some people ordered from. The event included 1 free drink of choice and glasses and pitchers of water. The plastic cup was for water to rinse brushes from acrylic water based paints also included with various pictures , one each to paint. There were little bag's with stickpins and what looks to be a tiny soap pumpkin, raffle tickets for a few gifts were also included. Festive Fall decore we're on the tables. 2 hours later most if not all had the beginnings of painting pictures. Overall people cheated , painted and had a nice time out.
For so many years now, press, 195 has been my favorite of all local restaurants. There's just something about the variety of food the amazing selection quality the taste, it's always equally good. Tonight, Sean took good care of us and we enjoyed the heck out of a little mini smorgasbord. We ordered John's classic, which is a chicken pressed with bacon mozzarella and served with some gravy. Sweet potato fries on the side were amazing as always. Some chicken wings with garlic Parmesan and the best of all those very special press-tones. Excellent plantain fried crispy to serve as the bed and then the sweetest most savory delectable pulled brisket on top with those sweet red onions pickled to perfection. Magnifique! read more
We came here for an event. The place is located inside a shopping area in Plainview. We were placed in a private room in the back. The staff and event organizers were on point with the timing of the event. Service was on point with taking and serving the kids food first followed by the adults. The event had a set menu for adults and kids. For the kids order we got the hot dog, which came with chips, pickles, and apple slices. For the adults, my husband got the combo consisting of #39 half sandwich with fries and I got the #55 half sandwich with the breaded chicken with chicken soup. We also had ginger ale, diet coke and strawberry lemonade. My husband finished the entire dish. I just ate the chicken noodle soup which was generous and it hit the spot for me. I ate my hot sandwich en route home which was nice and comforting. Brownies were served at the end, which we took our portion home. Food quality was great, it can get pricey. We had a great experience and would return if there was another event since it's a bit of a drive to get here. read more

On my first visit to Press 195, I did not realize it was a popular restaurant in Rockville Centre Long Island. From what I read, they are known for pressed sandwiches stuffed with flavorful meats, fresh veggies, and cheeses. The restaurant is in a busy strip mall that was recently updated from its tired previous appearance; Press 195 is a recent addition to the strip mall. We were a group of six and the restaurant had no problem accommodated all of us comfortably. The menu was a challenge for me since most of the sandwiches were made warm. I settled on the chicken parmigiana on handcrafted Ciabatta bread. Particularly good. I could only eat half the sandwich since it was very filling. One of our parties had an interesting creation called the Knitzel; thinly sliced breaded pork cutlet, sweet red cabbage, Swiss cheese, and a side of gravy. Wow, that looks good. Overall, I enjoyed the service and the first visit. I am looking forward to returning soon. read more

Clean and airy. I was seated right away with my party on a weekday. It is next to a Lidl and has a parking lot which is always a plus. Compared to its original location in Bayside, this is definitely a bigger space so it is more accommodating for bigger parties. Sandwiches were also okay. I ordered #38 grilled marinated sliced steak, avocado, sweet onion jam, fresh mozzarella and creamy roasted pepper dressing. It is not heavy and def has a nice crunch from the bread read more
I have been to the one in Bayside and was thrilled when they opened one in Plainview. It is located in a shopping center of Main Road so there is plenty of parking. there is booth seating and a bar in the establishment. They have an extensive menu sandwiches and Paninis. We had #42 and #25 and they did not disappoint. I thought the Paninis were huge and delicious. You can hear the crunch from the ciabatta. It comes with a cucumber salad, and you can order a side of Belgian fries, which were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back! read more

I've been a fan of Press 195 for years, so I was so happy to see that they opened up another location on Long Island. I was around the area so I figured I would stop by and check it out. Very spacious and clean! Service was great and our waiter was very friendly. Fries were perfectly crispy, as always. I always love their wraps and this time it wasn't any different. Perfect spot for a quick lunch! read more

At a private birthday party and the owners refuse to turn on the Air conditioning! We are in the back party room sweltering.... The temp is 79 degrees and humid as hell. The food was not very good either... mediocre at best. The place itself is beautifully decorated.... I'll give it that much , the restaurant up front was perfectly air conditioned, there is no excuse to leave us sweaty in the back party room read more

Finally came to try out the Press195 here in Plainview as we have been to the one in Bayside. There are two dining rooms. The front one has booths, 2 high top tables and a lovely bar. The back room is more plain but still nice. Food was excellent. My salad was delicious and the two sandwiches , everyone enjoyed. I might suggest adding a tuna melt and or impossible burger , to the menu as another option for vegetarians. Acoustically, The noise level is pretty loud, so you should just be aware of that. Plenty of parking in the lot at the strip mall of Morton Village. One negative was that the staff were really rushing around the whole time which was not relaxing to see. I get that they were trying to be efficient and serve people, but it just felt a little chaotic and rushed to me. Staff were friendly. I think also they have some live music on some evenings. Wishing them much success in Plainview. read more

Been waiting to try this place because of all the amazing things I've heard about it! I had already had dinner but saw on the menu that they serve funnel cake fries and needed a little dessert so i popped in and oh my gosh! Those are deadly. So flavorful and crispy! The place itself is nice inside and the back room for private parties looked pretty spacious. I've been to this location for every iteration of restaurant and this shopping center desperately needed a place like this! I have high hopes for it staying a long time! Also note that we sat at the bar and the bartender was so friendly. Service was great! read more
Finally! Just finally, press has opened right down the block from me and I couldn't be more happier. The food, the service and ambience are all perfect. I don't have to travel out of my way to get absolutely delicious food and drinks. We met John on their first day of opening he was very friendly. The service was top notch. The food was perfect. It's very safe to say this will be my go to spot quite frequently. read more

Good food for plainview (as someone who grew up in astoria I've come to realize what LI cuisine is like) Okay service I think this will get better as time goes on since they just opened up. Owner/manager was circulating through restaurant which I deeply appreciate, acknowledge and respect. Knish sandwich, beer menu and grilled chicken sandwich/panini was great. Kids menu was very generous portions and as a parent I love that. Third time is the charm. This place will definitely be a keeper in this town read more

The fries were delicious. The #39 was excellent, very flavorful, the ciabatta bread was toasted to perfection. The #29 steak chimichurri is amazing, the combination of flavors (provolone cheese, red onion, chimichurri sauce) is superb. Our server Taylor was polite and professional. The only negative was that it took a while for Taylor to take our order and our food took a very long time to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait, we can't wait to go back. Also not a big fan of the cash/card menu pricing. Just know that they'll charge you 4% more if you use a card. Felt a little nickel and dimed, but unfortunately, this practice has become far too common. read more

Brand new place. I was sat and table and booth was dirty. The steak was not edible. Very chewy. Mozzarella circles were cold and the marinara sauce was possibly the worst I've ever had in my life. Very watery and acidic. Employees could not care less. This place will not make it in Plainview. I give them 1 year tops like the other locations. read more

Would this place have room for a big group during happy hour? Thinking 20 to 30 people. Is there a lot of room to hang out near the bar? Places to sit besides individual tables?
Yes definitely...There is a good amount of space in front and along side of the bar. They have great HHR specials. They also have communal tables and a bunch of brand new televisions. Definitely plan a Happy Hour at Press 195.
