Shared parking lot with other place in the area. Spacious seating. Variety of options to select from just like the other Mad for Chicken locations..was happy to try another location. Dinner with friends while in the area...complimentary popcorn while we waited for our food. We had the crab salad to start - yum as always. Japchae was also good. Had the chicken combo with soy garlic sauce... it was ok. The batter was way too thick so needed so it was a bit disappointing but hopefully the formula has been adjusted since. Surprised it came with such a small amount of pickled radish. Had to ask for another. perhaps not a lot of people like picked radish...but we do. Restrooms in the back are gender neutral. Hey MFC, Just had an order of 10 soy garlic wings. Exceptional as usual. Tried your Korean traditional wings tonight with a 30 pack. The wings were even when we took them home on a cold night exceptionally hot, crispy and perfectly cooked. BUT, very under seasoned! Chef where's your salt? All these wings need are salt from brine or in your batter or even after frying. Don't depend on the flavor of your sauces. They didn't carry the day. MFC Plainview was absolutely popping off on this Friday night, with so many tables filled with family and friends, even early on in the evening! But the staff was very efficient in seating us and taking our orders. We ordered a round of Seoul Train, which the staff was happy to set up for us (a pitcher of beer-- Alegash as suggested-- and a bottle of soju with lots of regular and shot glasses). Finally, a Mad for Chicken closer to home I used to visit the locations on Bell Boulevard and Northern Boulevard, but I'm so glad they opened one in Plainview. It is much more convenient for me now. Some people say the flavor is not exactly the same as the other spots, but honestly, this is double fried chicken. It is crispy, flavorful, and always delicious even if there are slight variations. The garlic/hot mix wings are my usual order. The taste and texture are amazing every time. I usually skip the drumsticks since they are really filling, but they are actually pretty great when I do get them. The chicken takes a little longer to come out but that is probably because it is fried twice to get that perfect crunch. I also tried the nachos and was really impressed by how loaded they were. They pack a ton of toppings on them and it really makes this place stand out. The beer selection is excellent too. Plenty of great options that go well with the food. When hot and right out of the kitchen, there is no better chicken (with all due respect to Jollibee which is the gold standard for fast food chicken). When it cools down, it is still CRISPY!! This is the artistry in the process. You have a choice of 2 traditional sauces..soy garlic and spicy. The spicy is great but it does pack some delicious heat. So I was working at a building project in Plainview, and staying at the Holiday Inn. I asked the front desk if there was any restaurants they suggest. Of course they recommended Bistro 495 (their own restaurant on property). So I Google mapped restaurants, and a lot of pho, places popped up, Chinese take out, and then "Mad for Chicken" caught my eye. Korean style fried chicken. That's where I'm going!!! So we pull up my son and I and we walk in. Radio is blasting. It was a little empty just one table with like 4 people. So we sit down, looking at the menu. Waitress puts a bowl of popcorn on the table. I try it... it's not just any popcorn, it's seasoned popcorn. It was actually pretty good!!! I take about 5 minutes trying to figure out what seasoning they put on this popcorn. The waitress comes back to take our order and she says it's curry. Hmmm. Everything about that seems a little weird, but it works. So I see this drink menu, Boba tea, slushy, milk shake for only $6. With two choices of either Boba, popping boba, or jelly. I get the watermelon slushy with boba pearls, and jelly. My son gets the Lychee milk shake with boba and jelly. It was really good, problem I had was the pearl boba was a little undercooked so it was a little hard, not soft and chewy like it usually should be. Still good though. I order the soy sauce garlic chicken drum sticks and wings combo- half and half. Half spicy and half mild. I also order the beef chili fries. My son orders the kimchi chicken sandwich with Parmesan truffle fries. The order comes out and the chicken looks amazing. I take a bite out of one of the drumsticks and it is crispy, and I mean super crispy. And it has juices running down my beard. What a wonderful first bite!!! Not only was this drumstick over sized, (guess I'm used to the little drumsticks that Popeye's and KFC serves) but it was crispy and juicy. And the sauce was really tasty as well. My son says the Kimchi chicken sandwich was really good too. I try some of his truffle fries. That was super good!!! And when the beef chili fries come out, it was also very tasty as well. We both wasn't able to finish all our food, and that's saying something, cause my son and I can eat. But all in all what a great place to eat. Can I say wow!! First of all the ambiance inside is nice a roomy and the service is great. They are attentive and welcoming from the beginning. We ordered the Japchae, Tteok-Bokki and Soy Garlic 3 piece Korean fried chicken. Everything was FRESH! The rice cakes were tender and the dish was flavorful with the sauce and pieces of fish cakes. The soy garlic chicken was CRISP and flavorful on the outside- only criticism is it lacked flavor on the inside. Nonetheless the chicken was moist! The STAR of the show was the JAPCHAE! So FLAVORFUL from beginning to end. It was unanimous. The bulgogi beef was so well seasoned and in general it was such a delight to eat the japchae. No noodle was left behind! Even though this restaurant is a very short drive it has taken me a very long time to finally visit. Let's start with the ambiance, it's very pleasant and has a nice vibe to it. Pretty full on a Saturday night. Staff seem very friendly even though I only did take out. Food breakdown: Kimchi fries - a surprising amount of kimchi loaded on top of very crispy fries. And I mean I drove home with these things and they were still crispy! Now the spicy mayo that comes with them really just pushes it over the edge. Get extra. Bulgogi bowl - nicely layered with meat, rice, noodles and lettuce, though the meat didn't have that intense flavor I was hoping for and very little amount of sauce was in the bowl. Maybe an extra side of sauce would have helped and a bit more salt on the meat (hence why 4 stars out of 5) Budae jigae - yea can't pronounce that but just woah. A tub of ramen with rice cakes, various meats, kimchi and a delicious spicy broth. This was the highlight. So glad I came to try this spot! I heard about Mad for Chicken in Flushing, and I've been wanting to try it for a while now! I got their signature combo of wings and drumsticks, half regular and half spicy. The size of the wings and drum sticks were huge compared to other fried chicken places I've been to. The skin was super crunchy and the sauce was so delicious. Not too fatty which I appreciate! I definitely prefer the spicy over the regular soy. However, with all Korean fried chicken places, the chicken itself had absolutely no flavor. I don't believe they marinate it in anything, because without the skin, it's truly tasteless. It's still good nonetheless, but would be 10x better if they marinated or seasoned the chicken beforehand too. I also got the Parmesan truffle fries which were so good and addicting! I could eat those for days! The spicy chicken sandwich was pretty decent as well, but it was more of a sweet BBQ sauce rather than a spicy sauce. Decided to take the girls here for lunch since I've been to both the Bayside & Flushing locations, and the food was pretty good. We got the just fries, chicken tortilla soup and soy garlic wings as well as the parmesan truffle fries & tteok-bokki (rice cake) to go. The restaurant itself looked really nice, rustic, (loved the open "garage door") and had a great vibe. Service was friendly & attentive, but the food wasn't as good as I expected. The just fries were just okay, popcorn had some burnt pieces in it and they didn't add Old Bay Seasoning like the other loc. The best thing was probably the tortilla soup with shredded chicken, which was tasty. The wings were crispy but bland, had too much batter and didn't have enough soy garlic taste. Not to mention, the rice cake- $13 for a pint of mostly vegetables with only like 5-6 pcs of rice cake & 2 pcs of fish cake. We tried their Mad For Chicken drums & wings combo (both spicy/regular), parmesan truffle tries, kimchi quesadilla, and their kimchi fried rice. It has been years since I've last had Mad for Chicken so the joy when I realized they finally opened one out here, it was news to my ears. First off I want to say that the people at this establishment are all very friendly. My family and I were regulars coming here almost once a week since they opened. I even had my birthday here and brought visitors here. But we came in a few days ago for the first time in a few months and everything that we ordered was so so salty. We ordered things weve had before.. sweet potato fries which came out fast but quite over done and almost brown. The japchae and the soy garlic wings were so so salty that we had to complain. We are not those types of people to send food back but it was really difficult to eat it. The owner came over and said they dont use salt and he would have them mix it with more noodles in the japchae to try to fix it. When it came back it was the same. The soy garlic chicken wings were also so salty but after what happened with the noodles we just stopped eating and asked to get it wrapped to go and we would try to fix it at home.
