They had 4 dark beers, my favorite was the 2018 Darkville. Heavy, complex, loads of dark cocoa and coffee. The little brothers ale was my second favorite, although not a dark beer, it was a cream ale however not the typical cream ale you would expect. Bright and crisp, perfect for a warm summers day. Small parking lot with only two designated for the brewery however doesn't seem hard to find street parking. Friendly bartender and easy to strike up a conversation with regulars at the brewery.

GREAT BEER Love this hidden gem Seriously 135 may be the MOST DRINKABLE IPA, I HAVE EVER HAD (technically it's a pale ale, but it's so fruity!!!!) Their other IPAs were great: -Mental Toughness: good stuff -Black Crow Sun: little bitter, harsh Propaganda Porter had some good vanilla, but little watery for my tastes Overall, great brewery with some really good beer!

We visit Hicksville two or three times a year and are always excited to check out new places in the area. We are big microbrewery people and were happy to see one pop up in town. We were able to find the brewery with the help of Google maps, as it's down in an little industrial park area. I appreciate a good beer start up and I know that over time the beer and the space will drastically improve, it takes time and experience to make great beers and the space generally follows the beer. We visit breweries a lot and in the first year or two generally the beer needs work. That was my feeling about Barnshed. There weren't any stand out beers in my mind. We split a sampler went with a mix of styles. Of the beers we tried I liked the cold brew coffee lager the best, and was surprised to find a coffee beer that wasn't a stout or porter, it was a surprising change! I would definitely get a pint, but may not be able to drink too many of them. The brewery is small with a short bar area and two or three small tables, but there are some games to borrow and pretzels on every table. There is a small tv and the bartender was super friendly. I have no complaints about the bar. We will be back in the fall when we are in Hicksville again. I will happily update this review!

As I've been exploring breweries around Long Island, Barnshed has been on my list for a while thanks especially to fellow Yelper Josh G. and others whose reviews I trust wholeheartedly. Without a doubt, I was very happy I made the decision to visit this brewery with some fellow amigos, two of whom are new to the brewery world. Although we nearly missed the turn off route 107 (it's not the easiest place to find), it was well worth the effort to visit this small yet spirited brewery. Seeing the option for a flight of 4 for $9, the four of us each decided on this option (or else, why pay a visit here at all?). I opted for the Die Schuene Hefe (6.4% ABV), State 11 IPA (6.9% ABV), Propaganda Porter (6.4% ABV), and Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (6.7% ABV). My beer preferences generally lean toward the stouts, brown ales and low-IBU IPAs (have not yet acquired that palette for the super bitter). With that kind of palette, it should come as no surprise that I loved the Propaganda Porter and Chocolate Oats Stout, both of which offered a sweet, rich flavor, with Propaganda leaning more towards a vanilla flavor and Chocolate leaning towards a (wait for it) chocolate/coffee taste. Die Schuene Hefe was my next favorite in line, offering a very pleasant body of flavor, and State 11 IPA was still very enjoyable (though on the more bitter end for me). My friends sampled a variety of other beers, and altogether we hit every beer on the menu (sans Pineapple Express, which I'd love to try next time). My one friend who enjoys IPAs really loved the Mental Toughness and also enjoyed the Barn Double IPA (though admitted it was on the bitter end for those like myself who do not venture that far on the bitter scale). My other friend with a similar palette to mine really loved the 135 Pale Ale (he went "wow!" from the first sip), and our last comrade most enjoyed the Barnshed Cider (he does enjoy those ciders). Aside from the beer itself, what I really enjoyed about this place was the spirit and heart of it. It's small and scrappy but the owners definitely put a lot into it (it's easy to tell). The beer tasted incredibly fresh and was served with complimentary Utz's pretzels and even some mints before hitting the road. In pondering this brewery, I was on the fence between 4 and 5 stars. In the end, I opted for 5 stars because of my friends. The two newbies fell in love with breweries thanks to this place and are now wanting to explore even more breweries on Long Island (I'm sure I'll be getting texts every weekend now). One friend called it "the freshest beer I've ever tasted". Thanks to the owners for putting so much heart into this place. I cannot wait to return!

So excited to have such a great brewery so close. Everyone is super friendly and such a welcoming feel. Since I'm a pumpkin addict I had the Thank Gourd Pumpkin Ale and it was delicious, definitely one of my favorite pumpkin beers this season. Will be back to try more of their selections.

A really nice find on our brewery tour here in Hicksville. Small but very comfortable place with a cool decor. A nice selection of craft brews. I'm was a big fan of the Red Dragon Ale 5.4%. Great staff and service. We will be back

Pumpkin ale on draft at Me & You in Bethpage was delicious. Not sour to me. Maybe needed a week or two in cask to mellow. A favorite!

I made a reservation for two on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was pretty busy, but they had our table ready even though we arrived 30 minutes early. Our server was Evelyn, and she was so sweet and she helped us when we were trying to decide between two desserts and three appetizers. We ordered: - Spring Salad (5/5) this tasted so good with the fresh mango, the snap peas, and the carrot ginger dressing. - Faroe Islands Salmon (5/5) I only tasted the rice, and not the salmon itself, but the rice was so good, and I just kept on stealing more from the plate. - Roasted-Half Chicken (4/5) This was my own entrée, and I loved how the chicken was crispy, and I also really liked the garlic mashed potatoes, but the only thing that I did not think worked well with the dish was the swiss chard. I think it would've tasted better with spinach. - Strawberry Cheesecake (4/5) this was surprisingly very light for a cheesecake, we ended up finishing all of it, and the whipped cream was really good. The strawberries were not my favorite, I kind of wish that they were just fresh slices of strawberries, but to each their own. All in all, this was a super solid meal, there's plenty of parking, and the restaurant is quite spacious, and the single bathrooms are also pretty large.

Unfortunately, the meat had an oddly gamey flavor that immediately raised questions about the quality or freshness. The sauce itself was decent, but it wasn't enough to save the ribs. For entrées, we ordered the steak frites and the half chicken. The steak was maybe a 5/10, and that's being generous. The meat itself was underwhelming, and the accompanying steak sauce actually made matters worse rather than complementing it. Even stranger was the side salad, which somehow had a noticeable fishy smell and taste--definitely not something you expect from a fresh salad. The half chicken was easily the biggest disappointment. It had an unpleasant flavor that came across as spoiled or rotten, to the point where it was difficult to eat. The potatoes alongside it were about a 4/10--bland and forgettable. Overall, much of the food had the taste and texture of something that had been frozen and reheated rather than freshly prepared. Ironically, the fries may have been the best thing we ate all night. Then again, fries are a pretty low bar to clear--and thankfully, they managed not to mess those up. The restaurant was also a bit chilly inside, which didn't help the experience. And on a less serious note, the Diet Coke deserves a mention. Put it next to a McDonald's Diet Coke--and we all know McDonald's is the gold standard--and this one is just sad. I don't enjoy leaving overly negative reviews, but when you're paying restaurant prices, there should be a baseline expectation of freshness and quality. Between the questionable ribs, fishy salad, poor steak, and especially the chicken, this meal fell well below that standard. Food: 3/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Fries: Somehow the MVP

The restaurant has a beautiful, bright, modern atmosphere that feels much more upscale than its surroundings. Based on other reviews, the standout dishes seemed to be the grilled Spanish octopus and the SB Smash Burger, so I ordered both. Unfortunately, the execution fell short in several areas. The East Coast oysters arrived with mignonette but without horseradish or oyster forks--small details, but noticeable oversights. The oysters, octopus, and burger were all tasty, but the presentation of octopus and burger was surprisingly sloppy, as though little attention had been paid when the dishes left the kitchen. The bar also was understaffed. A single bartender was serving both the bar and the entire dining room, which led to waits for drinks. My bartender was friendly, attentive, and worked hard, but one person simply wasn't enough. I finished with the Key Lime Custard, which had what appeared to be a layer of shredded cereal on the bottom. I wasn't sure what it was. The dessert itself was enjoyable, though I think a base of toasted sliced almonds with a few fried blueberries on top of it would have added better texture and complemented the flavors more effectively. One nice perk is the validated valet parking, for a reduced fee, which makes arriving and leaving especially convenient given the mall location. The whiskey selection could also be improved by adding a few more interesting, off-the-beaten-path single malts or blends. Overall, the kitchen shows promise! And perhaps I came on an off night. With better attention to presentation, appropriate bar staffing, and a more adventurous choice of spirits, Small Batch could deliver an experience that better matches its reputation.

During the winter months I'd do takeout and every time the food was great at home. I love their soba noodles salad when it's in season, however they switched to a different noodle and it doesn't have the same oomph! The owner recognizes me from all the times I've been there for dining in, takeout, called, and parties and events. I went there again last night with some family and overall it was very nice. One star deduction for the rudeness we received from the manager. She came over after we ordered a second bottle of the Freemark Abbey (wine) (as they were completely out and the first bottle we ordered was their last bottle in stock) and gave us two "similar" options that were around the same price of the first bottle. Price doesn't equal to taste. We first asked if it's okay to try it even if we may not like it, and she kindly proceeded to open the bottle. We said "no thanks," to the Keever (it tasted disgusting in comparison), which she and her colleague highly suggested, and we asked nicely if the other bottle was an option to try, but she swiftly walked back inside with both bottles and brought out an open bottle of the Katherine Cab. We liked that better. She stormed away after she said something fast and nasty like "It's either the bottle or you have to pay per glass." We didn't quite catch it but the ultimatum put a bad taste in everyone's mouths. We wound up ordering the Katherine Cab. When we got the bill the server charged us fairly. We tipped well because it's not the server's fault she was upset about opening the wine that she pushed. Happy eats!
