Holy Smokes, I never thought I would give a 5-star rating to a fast food restaurant but TacoDeli changed all that and I'm not even a fan of Tex-Mex. Wow! TacoDeli food is absolutely delicious. My office ordered in from TacoDeli so with six different orders we had an assortment of menu items the huge standouts are the Sweet Potato Soup and the Cowboy Taco. So, I was prepared to hate the sweet potato soup, it just doesn't sound palatable to me but what a shocking surprise. This soup was smooth and savory. The kind of savory that still lingers on my lips even 3 weeks later. The Cowboy taco was also delicious. The meat was well seasoned and moist, none of that chopped up, beef goo served by other fast food taco chains. Fortunately, my corporate HQ is in Austin, TX and I will now invent reasons to go there and a visit to TacoDeli will be #1 on my 'To Do' List! read more

I'm glad this part of town now has a Tacodeli location, especially since the options for decent breakfast tacos around here are few and far between. They have indoor and outdoor seating though I like to call in my order for pick-up as they have a separate register for that. This allows you to bypass the sometimes long order line (more of a lunch-time occurrence). As with the other locations, their non-breakfast tacos all consistently tasty and generally don't require the need for additional salsa unless you're looking to kick up the spice level. Another benefit to this location near our local HEB is that it gives me some incentive to do the family food shopping for the week. Will grocery shop for chorizo/egg/cheese on flour. read more

As a longtime Torchy's fan I was totally prepared to be hate Tacodeli. But after one bite I knew that my mind would be changed. Tacos here are simple but done perfectly. Carne asada beef was so well seasoned and the Jess special (Migas + avocado) packed the most flavor I've ever had in a breakfast taco. The Dona sauce - just do it! Jalepeno garlic goodness. Tacodeli, I'll be back! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Can I now get that in bigger letters and with an airplane sign in the sky?? lol This location makes food just as delicious as all the other locations. It is crazy how consistent this company is with their food. I have never seen a company that has gotten 5 stars at all locations. The Floretino is so good and I add refried beans to it for more protein. The chicken.. well all chicken tacos are great... Oh and Dona.. The Dona sauce is my favorite ever. I crave that sauce and if I could thank Dona personally for her delishes contribution to Austin society I would. This location has great customer service and a nice sitting area on the inside. They close at 3pm and so I would say get there at least an hour before they close in case they are super busy. Or better yet just call in your tacos and than sit down if you find an open area. Oh yeah, the Guac is really good and has more of a lemon flavor (compared to Torchys) ... I wish I could describe it better.. because that sounded bad. But just eat it and you'll know what I mean! And there is a Juiceland in the same parking lot!!! So juiceland + Tacodeli = Best day ever read more

Easy access, limited parking, no line, helpful staff, moderate selection, slow service, good, but not great food, small portions, especially the meat, high prices, way too high for the limited food and no better flavor. read more

They usually have awesome tacos and equally awesome service! However, the tacos have been getting increasingly smaller as of late. We got 8 tacos to go this morning and added avocado ($0.50) to each. The Mexico City Sirloin, pictured below, is one of my favorites for breakfast. However, it is $4.25 (3.75 + 0.50) the way I like it and has just not been living up to the bar TacoDeli previously set. Oh well, I'll probably still keep coming back : ) read more

Always delightful, never disappoints. Chips and guac, dona sauce, freakin' vegan, and papadulce - that's a perfect Saturday lunch for me. The pineapple juice washes it all down perfectly. The tacos are easy on the stomach, yet satisfying. read more

Definitely one of my top places to go to for tacos! Two is definitely enough for lunch, it's always hard to choose between their daily specials, and my go to. 99% of the time I go with a Shrimp Special and a Carne Asada taco. Also get a Robert's queso to share - do the upgrade! The small one is plenty. My only complaint is that they package all their chips individually so it feels a little stingy! read more

Nasty tacos. So full of salt. No distinct flavor. I paid 10 dollars for 2 tacos and regret ever coming here. The store was dirty. I went there at a non busy time and stood at the register for 5 minutes until someone came to take my order. Staff standing around gossiping took them forever to ask if they had more taco sauce. I stood there and the staff didn't care. My order took a while as well. The presentation was small and disgusting. Overall a very bad experience. I never go back there. EVER!! I should have went to a local taco stand instead. If I wasn't so hungry I would have thrown that crap in the garbage. A taco truck would have been better. Seriously, I was so disappointed and grossed out by the entire experience. Doesn't even deserve one star. read more

It came highly recommended from a colleague. I was hoping that it would be as good as the Surf PoBoy tacos. But I was proved totally wrong... these are simple tacos and priced appropriately (at $3-4 per taco). Mojo Fish Taco : Okay... Pollo Fantastico Taco: Pretty bad... the (shredded) chicken did not seem well cooked. Their guacamole and chips are pretty good. And have a good choices of sauces to go with your tacos/chips. Rice/Beans: just okay read more

Talk about slow. Do not go here if you don't have 15-20 minutes to wait in 2 basic tacos off of their menu with it being slow with hardly anyone in the store and no one waiting. read more

It was my first time experiencing breakfast tacos. Where I come from, breakfast tacos just aren't a thing. But now I am a true believer and feel the need to open up a breakfast taco shop in my city. With how awesome their scrambled egg deliciousness and freshness of their ingredient are, I'd find it hard to believe there are better breakfasts tacos in the area. Plus, everyone I was with (who live here in Austin) confirmed that this is their fave taco place. I ordered The Jess and the steak breakfast tacos. Both were great, but the steak was the ultimate winner. The steak was so tender and flavorful and since I'm a meat lover and the Jess did not have meat, the steak taco won. They also have this creamy green hot sauce called Donna, which states to be the house favorite, and it's very understandable as to why it's the favorite. So good, with the right amount of kick. The staff was really friendly, too. After the girl took my order, word got around that it was my first experience because the guy who delivered our tacos to the table said "Hey, I hear it's your first time having these. I hope you love them!" And then he checked back later to see what I thought. He seemed like he genuinely wanted to make sure I liked it. I can't wait til I come back for lunch tacos next. read more

Went out for lunch during a visit to HQ, and we stopped here. Parking is a chore, but not Tacodeli's fault. We were able to find seating for 7 easily. All the workers were very kind, understanding of our 3/3 group ordering, and courteous when bringing out food and salsas (which you can also get yourself). The salsa verde was very tasty, and not at all spicy - which my coworkers know I can't handle haha. The tacos: I got the El Conquistador and the Aguachile tacos on corn (of course). The El Conquistador was amazing. You could tell the meat was fresh, cooked just right. The Aguachile had a nice kick of spice to it, which was fine, but I completely forgot this would come out as more of a *cold* taco (cured in lime, so ceviche-style). Not the shop's fault at all, so I don't dock for it. I'm docking because I'm not really a $4 taco (EACH) kind of person. I was definitely still hungry for more after eating my two, but I understand the prices cover the quality of the product. (Also, come on- it's West Lake Hills.) Ps. Their Horchata is actually really good too! Thought the cup wouldn't be enough but definitely satisfying. read more

We stopped here while touring around Austin at the suggestion of the one local in our group. He raved about this home grown taco shop and how they were different from the others. The place was buzzing with young professionals and families on a weekday afternoon. I have to say the food was outstanding. The menu is HUGE! There are so many different choices that they're bound to have you covered. Don't miss out on the salsa bar before grabbing a table. Definitely recommend eating outside and enjoying some fresh air. read more

I walked in at 2:30pm. There was one person in front of me. I was in a hurry because I had an appointment in 39 minutes. The person in front of me worked at Juiceland which is right next door to Tacodeli. The person had a large order and didn't really know what she wanted. After a lengthy discussion, she was finished ordering. But then she offered free smoothies to the employees. Several employees came over and discussed what smoothie to get. The employees seemed oblivious to me. They were chatting amongst themselves and looking at their cell phones. I left disgusted. I spent 10 minutes in line. The food is good but don't go there if you are in a hurry. read more

I've been eating at TD since 2002, back when it was normal to see Roberto regularly at Spyglass. When a location opened in Westlake years ago my family was so excited- somewhere close with more seating and parking? Yes, please! But honestly, it's been a let down on so many visits in the past year that the family has basically decided TD isn't what it used to be and is no longer interested. Speaking with folks who have also been living and eating TD for as long as we have, it's a fairly common opinion. More specifics? The price for the portions have gotten crazy. Kids chicken and cheese taco? Sure, that's $6, and you might get 4-5 small pieces of chicken in that, so order two. Staff used to have personality, and they were welcoming. We've been on a first-name basis with the managers at multiple locations for years, because they used to actually care and pay attention to customers and create some connection. Maybe this location is more "Westlake" than "TacoDeli" and it needs a new name, or maybe it's a sign of the times. The sad classic Austin story playing out in what was once a beloved classic establishment- "it just ain't what it used to be." read more

I took my mom here as we were in the area and she was craving some tex mex. It is in a very nice shopping center, you can spend a lot of time people watching....the soccer moms are the best, I wish that I could spend all day tanning and walking around in yoga leggings looking buff and perfectly coiffed while eating salad. Alas, not the case but I can dream. We had the most ridiculously helpful and friendly cashier, who provided me with a few taco recommendations. We got the blue plate specials...I got corn tortillas and pinto beans. Mom got whole wheat and re-fried. She got the cowboy and I got the cowboy chicken version along with pollo fantastico. It was all good, very fresh and came out fast and I liked their rice and beans. Was flavorful and not too mushy. And our super helpful and nice cashier came out to check up on us and even cleared our plates in the nice outdoor seating area that they have. It was a very pleasant experience, I am not sure if other locations are as nice...but this one sure was. read more

Yeah, Torchy's is our favorite. Didn't like the Pollo Fantastico, basically of I wanted stewed chicken, I would make some soup... Also had the Akaushi Picadillo... Basically soft meat but couldn't taste it because of the STRONG Cilantro overtones.. The Queso (with the chip and Queso starter) is very thin, hard to stick to a chip. Salsa was good. Spicy Roasted Tomato was good. The Habaero was a kick, and Verde was light... Fast service, great outside seating (under a large oak tree) and easy to find. Chips & Queso, plus 4 tacos, 2 drinks came out to $26 read more

I was in Austin for a family gathering over thanksgiving. All my family members that are Austin locals, pitched Tacodeli as a must try place especially for their sauces. So, we got the tacos one day for breakfast. We got the vegan, spinach and pepper, mushroom and cheese tacos, 10 each as we were 10 people and these were tiny. I tried the spinach and the vegan since I am not too fond of mushroom. The tacos were infact delicious and yeah the sauces especially the habanero and the hot green one were amazing. I wouldn't say this is an absolute must try but its definitely worth checking out if you ever were in Austin. read more

Why would anyone go here instead of Torchy's?! We decided to try it since we were in the area. Truly disgusting food - rubbery meat, bare toppings, poor presentation. I would be embarrassed to serve what I was served. Queso bland. Packaged chips. Nothing seemed fresh. We tried it, won't be back. read more

This is hands down the best #&!* place for breakfast in Texas, maybe the US. I feel giddy like a school girl on my way to Tacodeli. Ya, giddy. The tacos are great, but for the price not really worth it. Case in point. This taco here was $5. I don't think this is a five dollar taco. They didn't even bother to grill the tortilla and if I wanted a plain tortilla with steak I would have done it my self. read more

Excellant tacos I took photos when they were done for the day after ordering my food but I truly recommend the taco sauce is to die for the street type of tacitos are moist and taste buds will want more. I don't know how this place is constantly busy I been trying to eat and try there food for 4 times and never get to get past the door since I wait to see if there is any seating available one negative is not enough tables but outside since its been cold I want to eat inside so I finally decided to eat at home you can pick it up and drive home to enjoy the best tacitos ever. The avocado was a big plus because of the side served with the picante raises. A wonderful touch. I want everyone to know there is a variety of types of tacos to order my favorite was the cowboy taco and the fundido taco was simply amazing all organic fresh everything. I love this place only con is the times available is morning til 3 and yes they shut the whole place down. I wonder why maybe it's because so many people want to enjoy the finest non gmo organic tacos ever! I am planning to eat lunch here since my son always told me mom there is a tacodeli at Westlake let's have lunch there. So you see there is always room for a delicious lunch. Enjoy folks! read more

We ordered catering from Taco Deli Westlake for our event and it was excellent. Everything from the ease of ordering, customer service, responsiveness, and the wonderful delivery employee named 'Eric'. Eric was super nice and went above and beyond in helping set up our food at the event. There was a small serving pan missing and he quickly ran back to the store to get one and got everything set up in time for the event. He did a fantastic job and the food was delicious!! Thanks Taco Deli!! read more

Ridiculous service, terrible service, was insolent, disrespectful, rude, petulant, and tried to pull the victim card when someone just wanted their food that they paid for. If you can't understand why someone is upset but it took over 35 minutes to get tacos and maybe you shouldn't Learn to be more empathetic. And maybe learn about being of service to others. You can't handle the job and have someone else help. But losing someone order for 35 minutes and then being a rude about it Doesn't help the world go around. Anyway sad about the way Tacodeli's going. If someone has to get upset to get take Their order then inappropriateness is not around them being upset inappropriateness is around the staff not taking action earlier. If someone is politely asking repeatedly where is my order and everyone else has been service still standing there after 35 minutes wake up and take care of the job read more

The food is so plain ordered the Cowboy and chips and queso. Everything was bland and meat was tough auggg no more TD for me..it was was over priced and no flavor. Yeah yeah yeah... what's special about a chain taco place? After a butt crack of dawn airport run I said sure, why not. Line moved faster than I was able to decide what the hubs and I would want. Okay. You people take early morning breakfast tacos on a Wednesday very seriously. Freaking vegan, steak & eggs (x2), and another one were the final contenders but what you really need to know about is the steak and eggs. There is no shortage of goodness and the guy behind the counter gave me all the salsas to try since it was my first time. Order came out in under 5 minutes and on my happy way i went. I get it now. When I hear a name like Tacodeli, I think of one of those small-town Taco Bell knock-offs that make you want to run for the border to get a decent taco. This is not one of those places. The long line outside on a Saturday morning should have been my first clue. Tacodeli is more like another Torchy's, because it's Tex-mex and creative, but they have a lot more menu variety. Meat, no meat, eggs, beans, cheese, but also some interesting original sauces and combinations you wouldn't anticipate, even if you're a long-time, taco-eating Texan. Read the entire description on that board while you're waiting in line, so you don't end up with an unexpected slab of BBQ'd tofu on that taco like I did. You can also build your own, if you don't like something they've concocted themselves. This Tacodeli has an indoor seating area and a large wooden patio outside under the heritage oak trees, where you'd better keep an eye on your food, because there are grackles doing the exact same thing, and they are fast. They know where to find the good stuff. My only disappointments with Tacodeli are 1) the lines are long to order; and 2) they close at 3PM. So don't plan on tacos for dinner, unless you're making them yourself at home. Or hey, you can always stand in line at Torchy's. This is how Austinites make tacos. read more

This is one of my favorite taco spots in Austin. The Doña sauce is the jam. It's not breakfast unless my face is melting off.

The tacos here are fresh and fantastic! Carry out is a great option as you can order online, select a pick up time and avoid the wait. Our group was split between breakfast and lunch so we ordered a variety of tacos. The steak breakfast tacos were a big hit. I enjoyed the cowboy tacos and we shared an order of chips and queso. All were delicious! The only downside is the indoor seating is fairly small so if you plan on dining in, you may have to wait on a table. read more

Online order is consistently 15-20 minutes later than they tell you in the confirmation email. If it's going to take a long time that's fine, but you can't be this misleading. Had to leave my tacos today because I had something I could not be late for. Just an awful customer experience. read more
