Great tacos and queso but I have to say I'm super annoyed that you can't order breakfast tacos during the weekend on your app. It's clear everywhere on your website and in stores that you serve breakfast until 3pm. But the app... oh it forbids you from ordering a vaquero at 11am on Saturday. So that means my happy self must walk in store to place my order because you don't take to go orders over the phone. Went only after MOD Pizza was closed next door. I ordered a chicken quesadilla from the kids menu because they didn't have an adult quesadilla option (that's okay, not a big deal). When I finally got my food there was no chicken and there was hair in and on the food. I just threw it out. I love the Cowboy taco here on corn. The queso is yum and then their pecan bar that is there is dangerously delicious. The service is counter fast food but it doesn't feel or taste like a commercial chain. The patio faces an entrance to the green belt so it's fun to people watch. From Houston, I have heard of Tacodeli before, I just hadn't been yet. I just happened to be in Austin when I got around to trying it. We ordered some to-go breakfast tacos. Everything was pretty reasonably priced and I don't have any real complaints. The FOOD: - The Sirloin, Egg and Cheese: This is by far the best breakfast taco on the menu in my opinion. It's loaded with flavor and protein! The steak was pretty tender as well. Rating: 4 - Migas Taco: This was just average. I rarely had a bite with any meat in it. I thought migas was supposed to be eggs mixed with meat? Maybe I am mistaken. At any rate, it was kind of bland. Rating: 2 - Chips and Salsa: The chips were pretty good, pretty thin and crispy. Since moving out of Texas I've lost the excitement of taking sides. I now go to Kerbey Lane AND Magnolia Cafe *gasp!*. I know, maybe part of the Austinite in me died. My point is, I happily eat at Tacodeli and Torchy's, and I'm still not 100% sure which one is my favourite. I know that Torchy's has better queso and maybe some tacos, but Tacodeli has the Tiki Xi taco and that's my favourite salmon taco of them all. The flavour is out of this world and I can't find it anywhere else! So, that's my very exciting opinion. Their queso is still very good, and I still eat it, and they have a lot of veggie and fish options. Their papadulce is a sweet potato taco that also has some banging flavours. Love tacodeli and will change review upon redemption I usually pick up taco deli tacos from a local coffee shop where they're always warm and ready at the time of payment but today I decided to stop at taco deli. I love the store and the staff are wonderful here but I believe there's much room for improvement. I drop by after a long night shift and just wanted some warm tacos and then to go home and pass out. I ordered one taco to eat there and want to go at the same time. The gentleman was kind enough to notice I was in scrubs and offered a healthcare worker discount. He then turned around and asked me for tips which basically obliterated my discount. One taco was brought out and he was surprised that I had to order another one. 5 to 10 minutes later the Tico taco came out. It was cool. The tortilla was cold. The egg was on the cold side. The joy of breakfast tacos especially on a cool morning is that they're served hot. I took it back and requested it be warmed 10 minutes later I went back to the kitchen and asked if it was ready. They said they were still working on it meanwhile five other people had picked up their orders and walked past me I suggested that they invest in a warmer because when I pick up my tacodeli tacos at the local coffee shop there in a warmer and never ever served cold for this reason. Another 10 minutes went by and I thought outside where it was sprinkling waiting for my taco to be made. This was a total of 20 minutesWaiting for the 2nd taco to be made the right way ... after the first taco was brought out. It wasn't busy like it usually is. I lost 30 min of my time to rest before another shift waiting on a 2nd taco. These are supposed to be fast and warm. On another note, 2 days ago the roja salsa tasted pretty bad like it had no salt at all. Someone should taste test each batch for QA. I hope you can improve. In three years of weekly visits I haven't reviewed this place? A lot of people seem to gripe about their pricing but say what you will, I'm more than prepared to pay for responsibly sourced food (I don't eat much meat but I am convinced happy cows are more delicious cows) and even happier to eat reliably excellent tacos under the shade of that big tree. I've always had positive interactions with all of the staff, they keep waits short even at peak times (and it's even shorter if you call ahead) and remain remarkably unfrazzled by lunch lines! I love their roja and doña sauces - and the fact that they serve breakfast tacos all day on a Saturday so you can mix up lunch and breakfast on your blue plate (an Otto and a space cowboy on wheat thank you please!) Of all the rivalries Austin Yelpers choose sides on - Whole Foods vs Central Market, Kerbey vs Magnolia, attention-ho threadsters vs nice people - the one I can never quite draw the line at is Tacodeli vs Torchy's. I think both of them are pretty cool, and if I'm in the mood for semi-pricey Anglicized taco fare, it's more about which one is closer to me than who's better. I think Torchy's does makes a killer queso, and they're open way past 3pm. I also think Tacodeli has some remarkable cult-worthy sauces, which are fun to mix & match & play with. Both places are making great tacos with hipster ingredients & clever names. But if you're zipping around Westlake Hills for whatever reason, and Dance Dance Taco suddenly hits you, there's a cool Tacodeli right next to the HEB. And if it's past 3, you've got that cool Kerbey right across the street. Sometimes in the Game of Yelp, location is everything. read more

For the AMOUNT OF PEOPLE squished into the restaurant waiting for their tacos, I expected better... I got the salmon taco (without the shell) and the taco salad without the sour cream or dressing. Nothing wildly out of the ordinary here... And the salmon portion was minuscule... I should have ordered four of them! My fiancé got a trio of tacos: chicken, pork and a breakfast one and when asked if he liked his food, he said "pretty darn good" but I can read between the lines, after all, he's my fiancé, so I know him QUITE WELL... That was code for: eh, I could probably make something better at home if I really felt like cooking. Sure Tacodeli filled us up, and is one of the STAPLE RESTAURANTS of the people we are visiting in TX ... But if I lived here, would I ever go back? Eh.... Holy Smokes, I never thought I would give a 5-star rating to a fast food restaurant but TacoDeli changed all that and I'm not even a fan of Tex-Mex. Wow! TacoDeli food is absolutely delicious. My office ordered in from TacoDeli so with six different orders we had an assortment of menu items the huge standouts are the Sweet Potato Soup and the Cowboy Taco. So, I was prepared to hate the sweet potato soup, it just doesn't sound palatable to me but what a shocking surprise. This soup was smooth and savory. The kind of savory that still lingers on my lips even 3 weeks later. The Cowboy taco was also delicious. The meat was well seasoned and moist, none of that chopped up, beef goo served by other fast food taco chains. Fortunately, my corporate HQ is in Austin, TX and I will now invent reasons to go there and a visit to TacoDeli will be #1 on my 'To Do' List! read more

I'm glad this part of town now has a Tacodeli location, especially since the options for decent breakfast tacos around here are few and far between. They have indoor and outdoor seating though I like to call in my order for pick-up as they have a separate register for that. This allows you to bypass the sometimes long order line (more of a lunch-time occurrence). As with the other locations, their non-breakfast tacos all consistently tasty and generally don't require the need for additional salsa unless you're looking to kick up the spice level. Another benefit to this location near our local HEB is that it gives me some incentive to do the family food shopping for the week. Will grocery shop for chorizo/egg/cheese on flour. read more
