Decent, not too pricey. Did not like the wet burrito as it didn't come with anything on it like lettuce, tomato, beans, or rice, I guess it was all inside, but not sure, it was an odd burrito, California, and I do not recommend it, just a white blob, very odd. The salsa was fine, the chips they give are grainy and have a very strange texture to them. The silverware all seemed very dirty. The guy or runner that brings the food out is not very presentable to be on the dinning room floor and was not well trained or professional. It didn't seem like a very busy or popular place, the reviews on google were better than other places. It is in a convenient location and seems decent. The drink prices are high, the food prices are not bad. Likely some better Mexican restaurants here than this one. Not sure we would ever go back here again. read more

I had an amazing time stopping in St. Augustine while on a trip to southern Florida. We came across this restaurant as we were craving some Hispanic food. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and thought it was very delicious. I washed it down with a frozen margarita that was quite potent. The shop gave some authentic vibes and I especially enjoyed all the WWE art throughout the place. This place really satisfied my craving and I recommend it for anyone who is in the area. read more

We went to the other location first and then went to this location. This one is not the same. The food isn't even the same. I ordered Birria Taco's and they came out just plain corn tortillas, not crispy or grilled at all like the other location makes them. Even the beans and rice tasted odd. Food and atmosphere where good, id go back. I have a favorite that I always order, enchiladas suiza...Some places don't hold up because the chicken is overdone. Taco Libre's Enchilada Suizas were really good and really tender. They have a nice outdoor patio that looks like it was once an event space as it had a bandstand and gazebo...it made for a nice eating area.prices were very good. Got take-out (because we seem to be the only ones in Florida who believe COVID is real). Ordering was pleasant. The food was ready in 20 minutes. And, once we got it home it was delicious! But, when I went to pick up the order I learned that one of the items in the bag was not what I had ordered. When I brought it to her attention the snippy little hostess, clearly inconvenienced by my presence, told me, "Well, if you want to wait awhile they can probably fix it." I found her demeanor rude and, yes I'll say it, snotty. So, although the food was outstanding, we will not be back. I will give my money to one of the many other restaurants on the beach that actually wants it. read more

In St Augustine there are a ton of Mexican restaurants and taco shops... For the most part they're all pretty good, so we had no reason to believe this place would be any different. We ordered tacos both with beef and it was the most horrible bland cardboard tasting food we have ever had. There is much to love about this place, I love their social distancing seating during this crazy time. Their food is delicious, service is on pointe, and the location from home cannot be beat. Taco Libre - Mexican Near Me - St Augustine, Florida

Wow. I love Taco Libre. Normally this is my go to Mexican place and bonus that it's close to me on the island. Today, however, was a different story. I was so disappointed in my meal. I got a California burrito which I was so looking forward to. Things that were wrong with it: not enough lettuce sour cream or guacamole inside the burrito. I literally only saw one place where there was any guacamole like they put one spoonful on and I couldn't see any sour cream. Then to add insult to injury, there was very little cheese sauce on the burrito. Normally you can even swipe a couple of chips through it. This was barely there and what was there soaked into the tortilla. I could only eat part of it and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I hope they were just having an off day and this is not the way things are going to be because I won't be eating here if this continues. I will give them another try though because I have loved them so much. But it's going to take a while for this memory to fade. read more

Ordered from them last week and our meal was outstanding. There are many Mexican restaurants in the area and so we have been ordering from each one to compare. Ordering the same four dishes at each place. Our favorite overall has been Taco Libre. This is a surprise since it now surpasses our old favorite from down the road. All four of us loved our meals, Chimichanga, Beef Fajita, Quesadillas, and my favorite was the Chicken FajitaTaco Salad. Writing this is making me hungry, I may order again now. Are you looking for a chips and salsa joint? Than this is it!! Not to brittle not to hard but just right (and warm). Salsa, not to thick not to soupy, stays on the chip with a kick of spice! Cheese dip!, not to thick not to runny. I could have ate chips and left satisfied. Let's not lie the free chips are everything at Mexican restaurants and this place was on point.
