First time! The chipotle cherry steak is SO good... you HAVE to order this taco. One of the best tacos I've ever had. The flavor is savory and slightly sweet. The green chili queso is yummy. It has a nice cilantro flavor. The salsa that comes with the chips are great, too. The orange salsa was my favorite; it was tangy, vinegary, and had a spicy habanero kick! The ambiance is cool. My work friend and Instopped for happy hour tonight. It's one of those places that's been on my list but out off attending. We had strawberry margaritas and I also had a blackberry they were great. I did notice though they charged us $11 for happy hour but added $1.5 because we chose fruit margaritas instead of regular. Seemed like a junk fee. We also had the shrimp ceviche which was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. We also had chips and guacamole and queso. The queso was excellent. Lastly, I had two of the duck confit tacos. Holy shit these were incredibly spicy. Thankfully I had a margarita buzz but my mouth was burnt. I think it was the peppers. They need to indicate the spice level on the menu and dial it down a bit. After a nice yoga workout with a friend down the street at Black Swan Yoga, we decided to grab some dinner here and catch up! This place is beautiful and love that this restaurant is in an old church. It has a big wheel globe light above and it is really eye catching and serene. My only gripe is that the place was brightly lit and it could have just been a tad darker to give it a bit more soft, romantic and sexy feel... My buddy and I didn't know it from the get-go, but we ended up ordering the exact same items. What can I say? Great minds think alike? Waitress was great and very attentive. She immediately brought us some complimentary tortilla chips and 3 different kinds of salsa. All were delicious! We both had a penicillin cocktail and this was made with mezcal (which is my favorite type of liquor) and it was delicious! For dinner, we each had a cauliflower and fish taco. Both were great! My only preference would have been to have the cauliflower and fish grilled and not fried. I like to curb fried foods as much as I can. And good thing both of these tacos were NOT drowning in some kind of mayo sauce. I am not a fan of mayo. My only other complaint is that this place closed down at 9pm and my friend and I closed this place down, lol. I know it was a Monday night, but come on, it was only 9pm! Dim the lights a little, offer some more healthy options and stay open later, so we can hang out longer! Great food, lovely ambiance, excellent service. 9/20/24, i came here while waiting for the state fair to open. The food was good but this place is expensive. It was kind of like an old church inside with the way the bathrooms were which was very unique. My friend got the chile relleno (idk how to spell that) and I got I think chicken tacos with lettuce cups which was pretty good but just not something I would get again. Overall, Taco Guild was a good experience. It's inside what looks like an old church with stained glass windows and Bible verses on the windows. Service was excellent and the menu large. My grilled shrimp tacos on flour were so tasty as was the elote. The warm chips and four salsas they bring out for free hit the spot too. However, my wife said her pork taco was horrible. Now for the food if it's your first time just a heads up the tacos are a good size so if your a 3 taco eater I'd suggest starting out with 2 tacos and have to have the corn on the cob or they will cut it off for you, I tried the queso dip for the first time and Wow is was one of the best I've had so don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu but feel free to ask your server for suggestions or recommendations, the service was excellent and consistent. This was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. We walked in at 5:15 p.m. on a Friday and the hostess immediately told us there were no tables available for the rest of the night. She did not offer a waitlist, did not take our name, and simply told us to try to find four seats at the bar. At 5:15. It made no sense. We had to speak with her again, and only after a dish runner suggested it did she finally seat us in a corner. After that, we sat for 45 minutes without even receiving water. Two different people had to flag down staff because no server ever approached our table. The food was good, but that does not excuse the terrible service. No apology, no acknowledgment, no manager checking in. It was as if the first 45 minutes of being completely ignored did not matter. To the restaurant, the hostess was clearly the main issue here. It is hard to believe she communicated anything to the serving staff, and it is even more concerning that she was prepared to turn away paying customers so early in the evening. Because of the unnecessary delay, we also missed happy hour entirely, and no one made any effort to make up for it. read more

Went one night while I was in town for work. It was pretty empty but everything I read suggested this was a good spot to go. I sat at the bar and staff were very attentive and nice. The ambiance was nice. The food was ok. I ordered two entrees. I didn't care for one but I'm not a send food back type of girlie. When the bar tender noticed I hadn't eaten the entree he wanted to let me order something else. I told him it was ok. I ordered another drink and ate chips. When the bill came he had removed the entree. Look I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm a fan of customer service. One of my favorite places to grab a gourmet taco similar to taco Puesto in CA. The restaurant resides in an old church, so right when you walk it, you'll feel the history of the building. Make reservations this place gets busy. This once methodist church takes you back in time to the 1800s. The once church not only has frozen in time but its food has evolved bringing to light its authentic taste of Mexican fusion. I've been going to Taco Guild for a few years now, I didn't realize I had never reviewed the place but after an exceptional dining experience the other night I had to resolve that. The food is consistently good, my favorites are the Chipotle Cherry Steak tacos and the queso is to die for. But what really drove me back to Yelp to post this review was the top tier service provided by our waitress, Missy, you can tell she genuinely loves her job and taking care of people. She is an absolute angel, I hope her leadership knows how lucky there are to have someone like her! And if you didn't manage to fill up on chips and salsa (a mistake I'm usually happy to make), the deserts here are ridiculously good as well. read more

It's a former church with the orignal vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and murals, a very relaxing vibe. Taco Guild offers a nice selection of entrees. The tacos are very good and and have some complex flavors- definitely not your average street taco. On this visit we shared tacos, chips/salsa, and street corn and everything was delicious. The salsas were on point, the chips were light, thin, and very crispy, just perfect. Taco Guild make their corn tortillas in house and they taste authentic.  I had the Chipotle Cherry Steak taco with bleu cheese, poblano and onion straws with chipotle aioli. Trust me, you must try this taco, moist, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Most importantly they have fast friendly service. Was in the area and decided to get lunch here, right next to buffalo exchange. Sarah was the bartender. Seating at the bar is open seating, feels like you are in an authentic Mexican restaurant, church vibes with a stunning chandelier. They offer gluten free and plant based options. It has been almost a year since we have been here and we were wondering why we haven't made time to come back sooner. We were lucky and found parking easily. We noticed the patio was quite busy and we expected it to be busy inside as well. We walked in and we were seated quickly regardless. They immediately brought over some chips that were quite honestly thin fresh, crispy and perfect. They were accompanied by four different types of salsa and honestly I couldn't decide which one I liked more. We also ordered some of the guacamole, which exceeded our expectations! We each got a steak taco and a carnitas taco. In my professional opinion, I would choose their corn tortillas. They are a little bit thicker and structurally sound for the amount of meat and toppings you're going to get. Service was friendly and attentive. When we arrived we both were unaware that it was Taco Tuesday, so this explained why it was a bit busier. I would recommend making a reservation on OpenTable just to ensure a seamless experience. It is in an old church, so the ceiling is very high and with a lot of noise, it can be hard to hear, we managed though. Can't wait to come back and be to try the patio as it warms up. read more

Our waitress Domonique was exceptional and provided great service with a friendly smile. I ordered the chipotle cherry steak and el pastor tacos with a side of rice and beans for the table. Go hungry, as the tacos are filling and oh so good. The chipotle cherry was very flavorful, but the el pastor was my favorite. Definitely recommend both without hesitation! I have had this place saved to my bookmarks for quite some time and I finally had the pleasure to dine here recently. Made it to confession hour and enjoyed the nachos with chicken tinga. Everything about the nachos were delicious. The chips, queso, chicken, peppers, salsa...I loved it. I also tried the wings and they were tastey. I chose the dry rub with the strawberry hot sauce on the side. The sauce was a bit spicy for me, but my sister loved it. I couldn't help but to order the molida lamb taco since I've never has a lamb taco before. It was good, but I didn't care for the poblano aioli on it because it tasted like plain mayo and over powered the other flavors of the taco. One of the great things about my dining experience was to learn a little bit of the history of the building told my the amazing waitress Missy. She shared that the building used to be a church from the early 1800s hence the stained glass, pew seating and various other decor that gives it a church feel. It made sense to me then why there is a "confession" hour instead of happy hour lol. I definitely want to go back to try drinks and to get more nachos. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in Phoenix! The ambience is so cool and the service is amazing. On top of all that, the food is delicious!
