I love tacos! Do you love inexpensive, great street tacos? They have a small but to the point menu. No real frills just good food. Family style. Have your receipt ready! read more

Listen don't get me wrong the food here is amazing. But the customer service is TERRIBLE. I ordered a larger catering order from them and a bunch of items were missing I went back and they wouldn't give me my items, said they saw me walk out with them and I need to take my business elsewhere....i spent almost $400 with them and was missing around $90 of food! I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere! Also the phone number on the online order receipt does not work, and the number listed on Yelp and Google Maps also doesn't work! There is no way to contact the restaurant read more

So I wanted some tacos and didn't feel like driving downtown..so I wanted to see what yelp had to offer...and let's say Tacos Calafia was pretty good. Good staff and great customer service. Place was clean and decent. I got the family meal. 10 tacos, 2 quesadillas and a cup of beans. Delicious. Thank you Tacos Calafia! Make sure you yelpers try this place...and don't forget to load up on the sides because if you don't. Your tacos will not be suited for deliciousness... Until again yelpers.... read more

When I see Al Pastor on the vertical rotisserie (trompo), I'm sold. I was even more sold on the house-made flour tortillas! It was busy on a Wednesday afternoon but no one in line. When I got to the counter, another 10 people came in so I just beat the rush. I ordered 3 flour Al Pastor tacos and three corn Pastor tacos. They came in a nice tray and were ready in about five minutes after ordering. They don't put any garnishes on the tacos itself. Instead, they have a salad bar type set up where you have to put gloves on and package your own garnishes. The Al Pastor itself was very tender, but was really lacking in flavor. It also didn't come with pineapple, which I was hoping it would to give it a little bit more flavor. We ate the Al Pastor without garnishes because in our past experience, it hasn't really needed any. Next time, since it doesn't come with pineapple and was flavorless, I'm going to add a bit of lemon and cilantro. The flour tortillas were really delicious. Having tried the corn tortillas, I was very happy that we opted to try the flour tortillas since they are made in house. The tacos themselves are not your traditional street tacos that come with two tortillas. They come with one tortilla are probably about 15% larger and also thicker. Customer service at the register was just OK but customer service at pick up was great. read more

One of my favorite places to go to get good tacos my favorite of course is the Al pastor and very good quesadillas definitely a must have if you want tacos. Also a great place to go if your need of a to get catering from. read more

I really like their salsa cart it's a great touch, and the food itself is delicious. I do wish the menu had a bit more structure and offered family combo options. The ambiance is okay, with somewhat unusual indoor seating, but it's a quiet spot; adding some background music could make it more inviting. Service is good, though the portions feel small for the price. I come here often read more

Loved this place. How affordable it is, and there's the salsa bar, which is awesome. I got the mulita al pastor, love the cheesy goodness but not as big as a quesadilla so that was a win for me. The service was quick and friendly, the person who took our order was nice. The ambiance was pretty cute, I loved the design of the wall where we sat. read more

They serve Tijuana taqueria style food. This place is busy! Look at the menu, decide what you want, walk over to the counter to order, and wait patiently for your number to be called. Get your drink filled from the soda foundation then walk by the sauce, condiments, and yum cart. I got 3 chicken tacos and the carne asada nachos. Oh man, yummy! The only con was they can clean the tables up a little between customer more. We had to wipe down the table we sat at and we saw some other tables in the same condition. read more

I am on the fence with this place... service is good and easy.. plenty of room in there.. food comes out fast so those are all good. The guacamole is not guacamole at all.. not sure what it really is but that's not from an avocado. Maybe we need to try it a second time to see which way we vote... read more

Tacos Calafia - 2 Taco Carne Asada and 1 chicken taco - Tacos Near Me - Peoria, Arizona

So tonight my partner and I decided to grab some tacos to go tonight and honestly I was so bummed at my dinner. We grabbed a small quesadilla, tacos and nachos. The guy who took our order seemed miserable and just seemed like he didn't want to be there. Thankfully the guy at the order window was nice enough to give us a small plate to take some sides home. When we brought the food home, my taco was not even hot and we live less than 10 min from the restaurant. The al pastor was dry, the cabeza meat was greasy, and the nachos were honestly pretty inedible in my opinion. I had to try and save it using my own chips as the ones they gave were soggy from the bland nacho cheese and just greasy. I'm so disappointed as this place because it used to be good. Honestly wouldn't recommend this place anymore with how the food was tonight. read more

Ordered several tacos (carne asada, al pastor, y cabeza) and carne asada nachos. The service was fine and timely, however the tacos and nachos were less than enjoyable, they were ok. My tortillas were falling apart in the tacos, the asada was okay, but the al pastor was cold and dry, the cabeza tasted okay, but was very greasy. The nachos were the equivalent to that of nachos at a stand for a high school football game. The cheese tasted like it was straight from a can, the chips were very soggy and overall less than satisfactory. Ultimately leaving my stomach upset. The first time I came here a year ago, it was good! Each time thereafter, it seemed to be less quality. No longer will I recommend this spot because I don't want someone to have the subpar experience that I had today. read more

THE BEST TJ style tacos in the Valley. And let me tell you about the dark red salsa, it's mouthwatering and actually spicy. Really spicy! Makes all the difference They use good cheese on the vampiros and the tortillas are delicious read more

Friendly, fast counter service with outstanding tacos can't be beat ! My favorite is the al pastor soft taco, the meat has a hint of citrus. I add onion and guacamole from the self- serve cart . There is plenty of seating and the vibe is come-as-you-are casual. Good people serving deliciousness at a reasonable price... Highly recommended! read more

The portions and food quality have both gone downhill. The price has gone up. It used to be our once a week go to and after tonight I'm sad to say Never Again. The carne asada was over cooked and tough as leather. The size of the vampiro is not much larger than the palm of a child's hand. The pork was inedible. The music was the worst! The cashier was also putting the orders together. If the owners are wondering why a once crowded and popular restaurant only had a few patrons tonight and the last couple times we've been the answers are in this review. I'm very sad one of my favorite places has decayed so badly. read more

Intro: On our first day in Arizona, we stopped by Tacos Calafia in Peoria for dinner on a Thursday directly from the airport. Located in a shopping center, parking shouldn't be a problem. They have a menu on the wall in the middle and then you order at the counter towards the back. A little confusing logistically but you'll figure things out. Service (4/5): Since you order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready, service isn't a big part of the experience at this Mexican joint. Ambiance (3.5/5): A casual, Mexican restaurant with plenty of seating, including some tables outdoors. Not spectacular but it does the job. Drinks (4.5/5): I love a good deal. On Thursdays, they have BOGO margaritas on their house lime margaritas. I couldn't say no to that! Food (4/5): Beyond your typical tacos and quesadillas, they had other options that I wasn't familiar with including vampiros. For pretty much any of their offerings, you choose your protein. Since they're all pretty affordable, you can mix and match so you get a good variety. They also have a salad bar where you can select from a range of salsas, guac, and limes free of charge. The proteins include carne asada, al pastor, and several other options. While the meat was a little dry, overall, quality street Mexican food. I would return. Overall: If you're looking for a quick meal that doesn't break the bank, Tacos Calafia is a solid choice. read more

Best street tacos I've had and I'm from Texas! Very good and authentic to the taste! Owner is friendly as well.

I don't like to leave bad reviews but my burrito was burned to a point that it was inedible. This food should not have been served to me and the employee who served it knew better than to give me a burned burrito. How do you burn a burrito? See picture. The employees were nice but didn't correct the issue. The interior was fine, music was a bit loud. This place could be so much better if they served edible food. Places like this should be put out of business. read more

From order time to the tacos being ready was literally seconds. The place was very clean as well as the staff was friendly. I only had the carne asada tacos with corn tortillas but the taste was amazing. The salsa bar was also so good. I had a margarita with chamoy and tajin and that was nice as welll. My friend had the micalada and she said it was really good as well. I definitely will be going back. Went back the next day for more tacos. Lol. So good read more

I've been to Tacos Calafia before just another location. It had great tacos just not as good as others I've been to in the greater Phoenix areas. I always get the carne asada which is still seasoned well and they give great portions. They have a large menu option. My two biggest downsides here are no pico de gallo in the salsa cart and no birria. Other than that they have everything else. The inside is large and has great seating. They also serve alcohol and fountain drinks and have outdoor seating. Great location as well inside a plaza with other shopping! read more

If you are doing an online order always double check your food. I have ordered a carne asada quesadilla twice from them and both times they have been wrong -once with chicken and another time just cheese. I tried calling them and the number is busy. I tried calling other locations and the numbers are also busy. I get mistakes happen, but when there is no number to call and you don't have time to go back right away, it is frustrating. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and I will be going back but they need to work on their online service or at least get a working phone number. read more

Jorge was very nice and amazing customer service very friendly definitely wish more workers were like him.

Hey Yelpers! Stopped in here for some food just before closing. The place is easy to see from both the street and the parking lot. The menu is up on the wall with pretty standard taqueria fare at typical prices. They also have a few family options for 1 pound of a meat of your choice and all the fixings for around $45-$50. We ordered two quesadillas (1 carne asada and 1 al pastor) and a carne asada burrito. Mine was the al pastor and I really enjoyed it. The meat had excellent flavor and was the right size to satisfy without feeling stuffed. The wife and daughter also enjoyed their choices, both agreeing that they'd come back. As for the service, they were very nice. It's not a sit-down place, so you order at a counter and then come back for the food. They have a nice variety of Latinx music playing and plenty of tables for eating here, which we did. I'd definitely come back and hope you give them a try when you are in the area!!! read more

Food is decent. This place is more about its convenience over anything else. Open seating and a walk up tablet to place your orders. They have a bar that allows you to help yourself to toppings for your food which is a nice touch. I would give 5 stars but the food was just good not anything out of the ordinary and prices were normal pricing you'd see anywhere in some cases maybe even a bit higher than other places but the topping bar is where they make up for it. There is salsas and guacamole and cilantro limes and onions. read more

This one my first time trying out this taco spot. It was really yummy! I got the Carne Asada and Cabeza Taco. The tacos was full of flavor, hella bomb xD You can get every topping and sauces you want. The red sauce was kinda spicy with the tacos but that's how I like it, Love the green sauce tho. I also got the Carne Asada Quesadilla, It was also my favorite. The meat taste rich and has a smoky flavor, soo good! Def a good spot for Taco Enthusiasts. read more

Got the breakfast burrito this morning and it was great. Great salsa and the gentleman that took my order was great as well.

This place has absolutely amazing guacamole!! It's also unlimited so, if you're a guacamole fan you'll love this! It's delicious, rich, and creamy! I always enjoyed going here for Mexican foods. Everything I had so far was enjoyable. Except... Maybe the cactus as the protein choice. That one was an oddball. I don't recommend it at all. If I had to pick my protein of choice this would be my order. 1.Cebeza 2. Carne asada 3. Al pastor 4. El Pollo 5. And then there's cactus... I absolutely recommend the cebeza with any of the base such as the burrito, nacho, or quesadilla. It's so damn good that I ordered this meat several times when I visited. To order your food make sure to go the corner of the restaurant on the right side. You'll see a cashier by himself. The services is quick. You'll get your orders under less than 5 min if you order for yourself. The restaurant is very spacious. I liked that there's also outdoor seating with tents on top of it. I got a chance to try their horchata. I thought it was delicious and refreshing. It wasn't overly sweet but sweet enough to want to continue to drink more. Side note: - plenty of parking - unlimited sides: diced onions, cilantro, guacamole, pre-cut lemons, green & red sauce - the nacho is small now, not large anymore read more

I was really excited about this place because of the reviews but I am a little disappointed. I don't think this place is terrible, but it's not as good as I thought it would be. All the meats are precooked and just warmed when you order. This is standard for a lot of places but all the meat in our tacos were just kind of warm. Everything could've used a little more flavor. I really did love their salsa bar though, especially because it had guac for free! Usually that's not a thing anymore. After I loaded my taco with all the toppings and salsa, it was good, however still lacked deep flavors. Overall, decent place. read more
