I tried to message the owner to get it fixed with a refund or freebie for next time. But the owner just read my message and chose to ignore me. I won't be going back or recommending to anyone. Listen don't get me wrong the food here is amazing. But the customer service is TERRIBLE. I ordered a larger catering order from them and a bunch of items were missing I went back and they wouldn't give me my items, said they saw me walk out with them and I need to take my business elsewhere....i spent almost $400 with them and was missing around $90 of food! When I see Al Pastor on the vertical rotisserie (trompo), I'm sold. I was even more sold on the house-made flour tortillas! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was busy on a Wednesday afternoon but no one in line. When I got to the counter, another 10 people came in so I just beat the rush.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 3 flour Al Pastor tacos and three corn Pastor tacos. They came in a nice tray and were ready in about five minutes after ordering. They don't put any garnishes on the tacos itself. Instead, they have a salad bar type set up where you have to put gloves on and package your own garnishes. The Al Pastor itself was very tender, but was really lacking in flavor. It also didn't come with pineapple, which I was hoping it would to give it a little bit more flavor. We ate the Al Pastor without garnishes because in our past experience, it hasn't really needed any. Next time, since it doesn't come with pineapple and was flavorless, I'm going to add a bit of lemon and cilantro. The flour tortillas were really delicious. Having tried the corn tortillas, I was very happy that we opted to try the flour tortillas since they are made in house. The tacos themselves are not your traditional street tacos that come with two tortillas. They come with one tortilla are probably about 15% larger and also thicker. So tonight my partner and I decided to grab some tacos to go tonight and honestly I was so bummed at my dinner. We grabbed a small quesadilla, tacos and nachos. The guy who took our order seemed miserable and just seemed like he didn't want to be there. Thankfully the guy at the order window was nice enough to give us a small plate to take some sides home. When we brought the food home, my taco was not even hot and we live less than 10 min from the restaurant. The al pastor was dry, the cabeza meat was greasy, and the nachos were honestly pretty inedible in my opinion. I had to try and save it using my own chips as the ones they gave were soggy from the bland nacho cheese and just greasy. I'm so disappointed as this place because it used to be good. Ordered several tacos (carne asada, al pastor, y cabeza) and carne asada nachos. The service was fine and timely, however the tacos and nachos were less than enjoyable, they were ok. My tortillas were falling apart in the tacos, the asada was okay, but the al pastor was cold and dry, the cabeza tasted okay, but was very greasy. The nachos were the equivalent to that of nachos at a stand for a high school football game. The cheese tasted like it was straight from a can, the chips were very soggy and overall less than satisfactory. Ultimately leaving my stomach upset. The first time I came here a year ago, it was good! Each time thereafter, it seemed to be less quality. Ambiance (3.5/5): A casual, Mexican restaurant with plenty of seating, including some tables outdoors. Not spectacular but it does the job. Drinks (4.5/5): I love a good deal. On Thursdays, they have BOGO margaritas on their house lime margaritas. I couldn't say no to that! Food (4/5): Beyond your typical tacos and quesadillas, they had other options that I wasn't familiar with including vampiros. For pretty much any of their offerings, you choose your protein. If you are doing an online order always double check your food. I have ordered a carne asada quesadilla twice from them and both times they have been wrong -once with chicken and another time just cheese. I tried calling them and the number is busy. I tried calling other locations and the numbers are also busy. I get mistakes happen, but when there is no number to call and you don't have time to go back right away, it is frustrating. Hey Yelpers! Stopped in here for some food just before closing. The place is easy to see from both the street and the parking lot. The menu is up on the wall with pretty standard taqueria fare at typical prices. They also have a few family options for 1 pound of a meat of your choice and all the fixings for around $45-$50. We ordered two quesadillas (1 carne asada and 1 al pastor) and a carne asada burrito. Mine was the al pastor and I really enjoyed it. The meat had excellent flavor and was the right size to satisfy without feeling stuffed. The wife and daughter also enjoyed their choices, both agreeing that they'd come back. As for the service, they were very nice. It's not a sit-down place, so you order at a counter and then come back for the food. I've been to Tacos Calafia before just another location. It had great tacos just not as good as others I've been to in the greater Phoenix areas. I always get the carne asada which is still seasoned well and they give great portions. They have a large menu option. My two biggest downsides here are no pico de gallo in the salsa cart and no birria. Other than that they have everything else. The inside is large and has great seating. Food is decent. This place is more about its convenience over anything else. Open seating and a walk up tablet to place your orders. They have a bar that allows you to help yourself to toppings for your food which is a nice touch. All the meats are precooked and just warmed when you order. This is standard for a lot of places but all the meat in our tacos were just kind of warm. Everything could've used a little more flavor. I really did love their salsa bar though, especially because it had guac for free! Usually that's not a thing anymore.
