Tacos tacos tacos. This establishment is a hidden gem. Passed by it a hundred times. The tacos are so flavorful. Best I've had to date. They also have a nice salsa bar. Spice level of your own choosing. You gotta try the beans with meat choice. Next level.
Awesome tacos! Ordered carne asada tacos to-go when I was starving and late for dinner a few days ago. Ordering online was easy. The carne asada tacos come with pineapple! Didn't expect that. Next to the pick up area in the restaurant, there is a salsa bar with all of the fixings. I got green salsa, onion and cilantro, and limes. A little bit of each on the tacos was super tasty! I really enjoyed these and will absolutely be back for more.
Meh. Self service too slow. $4 for a small bag of chips. Queso was jut melted Velveeta. Quesadilla was nice and tasty and big. Tacos good. Ok meat amount but not coming back. Way better joints cheaper and tastier. This one you are paying for the location. Not coming back.
Good taco spot, my favorite part of this place is the tortillas. But you have to eat there while it's fresh and it tastes the best. Their burritos are also huge and good! Can't go wrong with anything you get from the menu.
I LOVEEEE TACOS CALAFIA!! I was starving when I landed at the PHX airport and this location was 10 minutes away. Decided to stop by, so we can also escape the rush hour traffic. We were a bit worried with parking because we saw that it was in downtown, but they have a designated private lot for customers. Inside was so spacious and had such cool decor. It definitely made the vibe more fun. This is also the first location that I saw with the combo deal compared to the one I usually go to in Gilbert. We ordered carne asada and al pastor tacos and mulitas. So so good. I loveee how you can choose between corn or flour for your tortilla. I like the corn tortilla more. The sauces and toppings were left out for us to take which I appreciate so much. If you want jalapeno or grilled onions, you have to ask them at the pick up station. The horchata was also hugee and sharable. I am definitely coming back when I am in the area. I love how there are plenty of tacos calafia location. They also take apple pay.
We came here for a quick lunch on one of our free days visiting downtown Phoenix. Parking was easy as we lucked out that someone was just leaving as we pulled up. Otherwise, if you come when it's busy, you'd probably have to find a spot around the block. When we walked in, we were amazed at how huge the restaurant was. However, my favorite part of the whole experience was their self-serve salsa and guacamole bar. I went crazy even before our food was ready and stocked up on salsas and guacamole and the onions and cilantro blend as I know I'm a maximalist and submerge my food in things like that. My boyfriend and I shared a few things family style which included the al pastor nachos, the al pastor vampira taco, and an order of four regular tacos (2 asada and 2 pastor). Coming from California, we're used to having incredible tacos and similar foods but this place was so good and tasted so fresh. It was all well balanced and the amount of meat they gave was incredible for the value. If I were to return to Phoenix, I'd definitely make the stop back here again. It's great for large groups too!
Delicous tacos. Got the #1 combo 4 tacos and drink. Carne asada and al pastor were very good. Great salsas to try. The place is nice and clean with plenty of seats. Service was fast and friendly. Best tacos in downtown Phoenix
I have gl to taco shop is officially this place! I eexpwdiwnced it this past week and I'm so shocked I had never heard of it before. The service is so quick and the carne asada tacos on flour tortillas are the best! They offer great combos! I got the 3 tacos and a drink! The tacos were so good that I had to go up and order one additional tacos. I also liked how they offered the salsa service bar. The onion and cilantro with the green salsa and guacamole are a delicious combo for your tastebuds.
UH YUM ! Went here with some friends blindly and really hyped it up because of the reviews. Thank god it was everything I wanted and more because that would have been a flop & embarrassing if it was bad. I got the chicken taco bowl and that thing was like 3 pounds. There's a topping/salsa bar and I LOADED it up with gauc/salsa/cilantro/etc. Food was fresh & flavorful, came out within 10 minutes, and it wasn't too busy. No taco Tuesday deals though (whomp whomp). We sat on the patio but there's tons of inside seating too. Definitely make a stop here!
I had parked near here for a Dbacks playoff game and stopped in for a quick bite after the game. I have visited a couple of other Tacos Calafia locations in the past and love their tacos. I have traveled to Tijuana many times over the years and have had some great late night street tacos. I am glad Tacos Calafia has brought those flavors over here to the Valley. You won't find a full menu of Mexican food here. Tacos Calafia is about tacos and they offer a simple menu of tacos, burritos, mulitas and vampiros. Tacos Calafia started out as a food truck before opening up a few brick and mortar locations around the Valley. This location is very spacious and is right off of 7th street near the Roosevelt Row art district. I love condiment bars and they offer a number of salsas and toppings for your tacos. Tacos are my love language and my stop here satisfied my craving.
Tacos are one of my favorite go to's for a quick bite, it's nice when you find a really great place. They have the salsa bar, and let me tell you the salsa is not for the weak.. it's got a lil kick to it. If your in the area i definitely recommend stopping by one of the best tacos places around! Can't go wrong.
#19 for 2024 We came in to do a job over the weekend. We finished late evening looking for something good to eat. Not too far away Tacos Calafia had good reviews and was still open. It's a large place that can accommodate large parties. A party of 4 was easy. So was the menu mainly tacos and burritos. Ordering is simple. Choose your meat (carne asada, al pastor, pollo, cabeza and nopales) and how you want it (taco, quesadilla, mulita, vampiro, burrito and taco-nachos. I took 4 Al Pastors tacos, my favorite, to along with a Mexican Cola. You pay for everything upfront. Go up to the counter place your order, take a seat until your number is called. Once you get your order you can hit the well stocked salsa bar with peppers, onions, raddishes, carrots and different sauces. I took a couple plates of those. Everything was so good I went back and ordered a vampiro and cabeza. Everyone ate quick and talked about how we were fortunate this time to have found delicious food so quick. It gave us a chance to talk and go over our plans for the weekend. Walls were done in kind of graphitti style deco commonly found in patio settings. It was a good vibe that made us feel comfortable. Very good experience. So good we came back the next night just to make sure it wasn't a dream. It wasn't.
The BEST TACO IN THE WORLD. Very authentic tasty. Best tacos by far. Love me some tacos. Go get yourself them.have fun
Trust me when i tell you i have tried so hard to like this place but it's always something. First of all parking is atrocious. The tortillas are great they test fresh and open salsa bar are the saving grace here but come on for a $4 taco you would think you would get a decent amount of meat, these tacos looked like what falls off of my tacos usually, just the scraps of what was left over maybe... idk just not satisfied. read more

TLDR: asada was well seasoned and tender. Birria savory and juicy. Let's talk about the meats! The asada was very tender and not chewy but it lacked the smoke flavor I'm looking for in asada, but it was well seasoned. The birria was super savory, you can taste the spices - cinnamon, star anise, clove. Perfectly tender and juicy when dipped in the consume all wrapped up in a crispy corn tortilla. read more
I've been to this location and the one in Gilbert. I really like their food. They have 7 locations across the valley! Pretty cool to learn from our cashier. They do sell alcoholic beverages but I didn't try. I have tried an alcoholic free michi (clamato preparado) at the other location and I really liked it! Service is friendly! It's taqueria style de Tijuana! My friend and I went during first Friday it was super busy but we lucked out with parking in lot. It's conveniently located next to Luv Bridal. They offer grilled onions and jalapeño too! A must try spot :) read more

The meat in the tacos could've been fresher and juicer. The flavor was decent. Didn't like the queso they had- it lacked flavor. The salsa bar is convenient to make your own tacos to your liking. read more
What a hidden gem for a tourist like me to come across! While in Arizona on a work trip that turned into a solo trip, I hopped into an Uber to enjoy some tacos one evening. I was heading to one spot I found while browsing on Yelp prior to traveling, but when I told my Uber driver where I was going, she quickly turned me around. Instead of where I was heading, she suggested another nearby restaurant just a few moments away. Although my initial choice was "good" in her opinion, she let me know that there was some place way more authentic just moments away. And I ended up here! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was in the right place. With a few groups of gentlemen tossing back Mexican beers and watching soccer on the hanging tv screens, this huge location was full of room for hungry guests and I took on the challenge. Ordering was a breeze as the counter is displayed right at the front with a big menu of delicious options. I ordered a few tacos, chips & guac, and beers and was told that my food would be up momentarily. As I waited, I headed around to the pickup counter and what a surprise to me - there was a huge salsa and condiment bar tucked away! Oh, I went ham. From various salsas to fresh radishes, I was in heaven. I packed a container of goodies and just minutes later, my meal was ready. I took a seat in the dining area with my beer, tacos and condiments and dug in. Soooo good. The beer was ice cold, my tacos so fresh and flavorful, I didn't want to leave, lol. I can't even remember what restaurant I was heading to before I got here, I'm just glad that I never made it there and got to experience this 5-star gem! read more

Awesome tacos for really cheap - ate a lunch for around 6 dollars. The free toppings bar is a HUGE reason to come to this place! Staff is really nice and sometimes they hook you up (they offered my friend a stew to dip her tacos in for free because she was craving birria). I recommend the horchata and beef cheek :) I also tried the cactus because I was curious, and it wasn't bad at all! It tasted sort of like pickle and okra combined if you're into that. Would definitely come back here if I were to ever visit Phoenix again. read more

Excellent selection of tacos and quesadillas with a salsa/condiment bar open to everyone. Food was promptly prepared and were all delicious. Lots of seating available inside. read more
Definitely best Quesadillas ever!!! I had a quesadilla con carne Asada, 3 tacos de Asada. And I've never felt so full compared to other places. The flavor and juiciness from the carne hit so well. It was so good. There's tons of sitting room, and lots of choices. I love that they stay true to the Tijuana style & aesthetics. Definitely a must try! Just be aware of the tricky parking. read more

Awesome! Thank you for your amazing review Day
Authentic. The food is as good as expected, I follow their gram and it is mouth watering. Actually eating the food is even better. Super friendly and efficient, served through a window setup. Very casual spot with a patio feel even though it is indoor. The tacos are good, the quesadillas are good, the food is just good. read more
Got a couple tacos (Asada and Nopales) and added fix-ins from the toppings bar. Solid tacos and highly customizable. Service is super fast since its build your own. Tried the horchata too. Good mix of spices but a little too sweet for my liking. read more
Nice little spot right off 7TH st. The tacos were good but the margs were waaaay too sweet. We were excited about the happy hour deal buy 1 get 1, but they weren't very tasty. Probably would go to another taco spot instead next time, but it was good, just not our favorite! read more

THE BEST TACOS IN PHX I'VE EVER HAD!!! My husband, and I found ourselves driving around downtown with our hungry 1 year old at 10pm after a long day and we couldn't find ANY place that was open. We were desperately trying to google and plan. We drove by Tacos Calafia and saw some people sitting so we decided to get down and ask if they were open. The man at the front said they were just about to close but they would be happy to take our order down with a warm smile. I let him know that I was so sorry to come in at an inconvenient time with a whole family to feed and he reassured me that not only would they just take us but they would be happy to seat us as well! Once I took a bite of my asada taco I knew this would become our new favorite spot!!! The quality of the last batch of food for the night was incredible!!! Thank you to the warm and kind faces working on this night, truly from the bottom of my heart. Such an amazing dining experience!!! Would also like to mention how clean the entire restaurant was- from the bathrooms to the dining area completely spotless!!! You just gained some very loyal customers. No other tacos will ever live up to Tacos Calafia!!! Thank You so so much!!! read more
We gave this place a try due to the fact that we tried the one in Gilbert and loved it. This one was much different and quite a disappointment. We went after a Diamondbacks / Dodgers game and it was pretty busy but the line moved fast. We placed our order for tacos, a burrito, rice and beans. For some reason, the young lady ringing us up could not understand that we wanted a side of rice and a side of beans. My husband had to repeat the request several times and she didn't seem to understand or comprehend. When we received our order, we did get the rice, but we did not get the beans. My husband went back up to the counter and told her that she forgot to give us our beans and she dug through the pile of receipts to verify that she did not charge us for beans. That was her mistake not ours. We ordered them but because she could not comprehend, they did not get placed on our order. She offered to give us the beans, for the regular charge. At this point as our food sat getting cold so we decided not to get the beans. When we were finished my husband went up to the counter to get a to-go container, and the same young lady who was serving us was at the counter and she was incredibly rude. He actually thought she was going to charge us for the to go container! But she just handed it to him with a frown on her face. Needless to say we won't go back to this location, it was a huge disappointment. The food was dry and tasteless. I also wanted to add that they have these military flags flying in the windows, and American flag, and a flag for veterans. My husband is a veteran and they definitely did not treat him as someone they respected. read more
Located on 7th right next to Luv Bridal is Tacos Calafia. After a morning of trying wedding gowns, we went to Tacos Calafia ~11:15 and there was already a line of 5 people. We immediately got in line which moved relatively fast and ordered a quesadilla, taco, and chips and guac. We tried to order the nopales (cooked cactus) but they said that protein wasn't ready yet. Note that there's a table in the back with guacamole, salsas and various accoutrements so purchasing chips and guac is essentially buying a basket of chips. We really enjoyed the pollo and carne and would go back again. read more
The meat quality here is second to none they really serve a great carne asada taco and let me tell you the way they cheese the outside of the quesadilla is unheard of. was so good this is a weekly spot for us very great quality can't put 10/10 but I would if it was a option come here for your next lunch date. read more

Amazing tacos- am feeling so satisfied right now! We were headed to Taco Boys which looked busy so we popped over here and I am so glad we did! I ordered 2 carne asada tacos, 1 Al pastor. My husband got 3 carne asada tacos and a carne asada vampiro. We also got chips and salsa. Chips were fresh- looks like they're made in house. Meat was (chefs kiss) perfection. Al pastor was sweet but not overly, perfectly seasoned. The carne asada was juicy and delicious. I love any place with a salsa bar to stock up on cilantro, onion, lime, and salsa. The guac was smooth and delicious. Only great things to say- we will be back! read more
