A new place has opened up, and a new sushi option for all to explore. Is it really Sushi Time? Well, let's discuss that. Located in a small shopping center, and in a spot that had been previously occupied by several restaurants before, from ramen, to sushi, to Chinese food, it's certainly no stranger to food service. This time it's back to sushi again.
First, let's talk staff. Service her is pretty good overall, friendly enough.
Pricing wise, it's about on par with most sushi places nowadays, while some of the rolls are more expensive, other ones aren't too bad. With how expensive sushi places are nowadays anything, it's not bad. One thing that is good is that they do have lunch specials, albeit, it's just a small portion of that menu, but the portions are still good so no worries even though it's cheaper. Good bang for your buck.
Let's talk food. One thing here that I do appreciate is the food. From the basic teriyaki bowls w/sashimi combo, to the more extravagant rolls, to something as simple as some torched nigiri. All of the food here I've had so far have been good to really great.
I won't talk about them all since I only have so much space, but will highlight a few things.
The chicken teriyaki bowl w/sashimi combo was a good value, as you get a lot of chicken for the price, not to mention it comes with sashimi too. You could of course have variations of this with other combinations, so if not in the mood for sashimi there's others.
The rolls are pretty good overall, and some rolls are better than others, but that's usually the case for most places.
A few rolls that have been good are the OMG Roll, the Super Lion King, and Floresta have been good ones that I've ordered each time I've been back. They also have a good seared salmon belly nigiri, you have to make sure to get the creamy one though for the maximum effect of the delicious.
Overall, this is a solid new spot in the area. I do feel they're still struggling a little to find consistency at times though. They also don't take reservations, which they note was for staffing reasons, but for a place this small, it actually makes more sense to have reservations available. Their sushi menu itself is not a very large menu. They have a decent selection of rolls, but as far as a full on sushi place, it's alright, not as many options as one would think. Pricing wise, it's pretty good, as the portion to cost is about on par. However, portioning for certain things, such as sashimi, feels a bit hit or miss. The first couple of times I went the slices were very generous. The last time I went, the slices, while still alright, wasn't nearly as large which makes it feel less worth it since the nigiri and sashimi isn't cheap. Hopefully this place will find itself soon after a little while longer, but consistency needs to be its primary focus right now. read more
