We were excited to try this place out as it looks fun and there is always a line to get in! The staff was very courteous, but somethings were left to be desired. When we were seated we only had one set of plate ware and utensils, we also didn't have any soy sauce - the container was empty with its lid upside down. Once we ordered we got our edamame fairly quickly, but half of it was ice cold - very odd. I also never got my green tea. We were given a complimentary gyoza, which was nice. The crazy Cali roll and Mountain roll were both delicious and would order those again for sure! The yakisoba noodles and chicken left a lot to be desired. The atmosphere is fun, and busy, could be a fun date night spot but it's hard to hear if you get sat in the middle seats. I'd come back again because the fish was great, and the ramen looked really good.

Came here over the weekend for lunch. I got the beef and chicken teriyaki lunch special and it was perfect. The service was amazing very helpful and welcoming. Can wait to go back as this also one of my friends go to spot.

After visiting the Ruth Bancroft Garden came here for lunch. It did not disappoint. The service was great, they were just opening. I was seated right away and shortly after the server brought miso soup and water. My order came quick as well. There's plenty of table seating. In addition, there's bar seating. I ordered their lunch combo, chicken teriyaki, salmon/avocado roll. It also came with salad, two California rolls, and rice. I left full.

Generous Chicken Teriyaki dinner with salad and rice (Oct 2025)

Located near Sports Basement in Walnut Creek, Tatsu can be easy to miss when driving along Ygnacio Valley Blvd, but that would be a mistake. Been here a few times, including a recent weekend family dinner, and Tatsu delivered again with outstanding service and food. Not surprisingly, they were busy on a Saturday night but we had made reservations, and we were seated after a short wait. They also readily accommodated a person in our group who was in a wheelchair. They have a large menu but food quality has been consistent in the different menu items we've tried on various trips. During our most recent visit, service was outstanding and attentive, and the place has a fun atmosphere with music playing but still easy to chat with the person across the table without needing to yell. Everyone in the party got piping hot miso soup along with a complementary order of fried gyoza that were well seasoned and not greasy. We were there for sushi primarily but were impressed by the chicken teriyaki dinner which included a large amount of tender, flavorful, grilled chicken, salad and rice. The nigiri sushi dinner was delicious, with 9 different nigiri combinations and California roll. The fish tasted clean and was well prepared. In terms of rolls, the scallop roll stood out in terms of flavor, and the rice quality was excellent in the rolls and nigiri. Highly recommend trying out Tatsu for lunch or dinner when you get a chance

Wow!! I absolutely love this place! First, how cool is it that they give complimentary gyoza?! That alone deserves 2 thumbs up. But then you add the food, service, atmosphere.... The entire experience deserves a high five! The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. The interior is decorated with cherry blossoms and is very inviting. We didn't have to wait long for a table, thank goodness. We sat near the sushi bar which was great because we were able to interact with the chefs. We ordered 2 rolls, Hana sake, and the nigiri mix with uni. Everything was delicious. I would definitely come back if I was in the area and craving sushi!

I am surprised this place is so hidden. The service and food quality were top notch. All the rolls are delicious and the quality of the nigiri, I like it. This is a great place to go out with your friends or family. Tatsu special roll was really good, the tempura flakes along with the fish eggs made it flavorful. The nigiri, I picked salmon, bluefin, and unagi. It came with light rice and a perfect slice of the fish. And the most satisfying roll was the lion king. I am definitely saving this spot and coming back for another round.

Chicken Teriyaki Lunch Bento Box

This might be a new favorite. Decided to check this place out after a massage nearby and I was already impressed by the decorations. It looked a lot more lively than another place we were considering going to. We were seated right away and treated with kindness and respect the whole time. They even gave us gyoza on the house which made my whole day, especially given that I had a rough start to the morning. We both ordered bento boxes that included two pieces of California roll, rice, salad, and I ordered chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna. I also ordered some jalapeño appetizers. They were so good and worth the extra wait! I texted a few people while we were there to check this place out.

Tucked away in a little plaza is this very cute sushi spot! (Right next to Kinders) we were greeted and sat immediately but we did notice it got packed very quickly with large groups and families (on a Sunday). Our waitress was very pleasant and she even spoke Japanese w my friend ! The sake sashimi was fresh and delicious! The portions were healthy and they didn't skimp on anything!! I enjoyed the complimentary Miso soup and hot tea!! And later the gyozas were brought to us compliments of the chef!!! The asahi beer was also served very super cold which hit the spot on a warm day!!! The decor was light and welcoming and I'd definitely come again!!

Gyoza sauce, mostly empty.

For an hour and half wait.., I get a used Gyoga sauce or they ran out. They were pretty cold too. The rolls fell apart. I'm not happy for $100.

lunch combo with tonkatsu and salmon avocado roll

stopped by here for a quick lunch after visiting Sports Basement in the same plaza. Miso soup the moment ur sat. The lunch combo is extremely worth the price coming in at $14 (or $15 if u want the tonkatsu). I got the lunch combo with salmon avocado roll + tonkatsu (for the extra dollar)!! I also got a Jenny roll which was amazing as well!! The salmon in everything tasted like quality!! Very silky and smooth texture :) My partner and I also got some fried gyozas on the house which was a very pleasant surprise!! The gyoza sauce was delicious as well. My only negatives is that My partner got the beef teriyaki and the beef itself...how i describe it... its not the beef teriyaki we are used to...its like a really flat piece of steak beef(?). The katsu sauce was really really concentrated as well. Service was great!! We were constantly being checked in on by the waiters and waitresses. They played music in the background and everything was decorated for the holidays which was a really fun vibe. Give it 5 stars bc it was such a pleasant experience but if I could the honest rating would be closer to 4.5 bc the beef teriyaki really threw me off

My 9-year old kid says: "It was AMAZING! I feel like Naruto!!!" We will definitely come back again! Vibe was great! Ambience was spot on! Staff were attentive and service is great! And the food, Delicious!!! Overall, great experience here.

Personally not a fan. Large menu of too many different items is usually a big red flag for me. Usually means they can't do anything really well. Very loud music inside. Nothing stood out. Heavy on the sauces on the sushi. Imitation crab in the sushi. Wait is oddly long even on the waitlist. Free miso soup and gyoza. Ramen was overrated, meat was thin and the spicy was just a lot of chili oil. Had a lot of family's here. I went to Japan last year and still haven't found comparable quality.

Everything was great except the chicken needed a bit more seasoning and was really tough on the thinner ends . It could have used more even pounding before cooking. The waffle, though, was delicious. Overall, we had a great time and would come back.

My family and I ended up here randomly today (Saturday) after doing a yelp search for lunch. We arrived and it was BUSYYYY, but the wait time was said to be 11-20 minutes. So we decided to wait. Wait time ended up being OVER 30 minutes, but IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. We almost decided to just walk right over to Kinders, after waiting 30 minutes. But we thought "wth, we've waited this long, let's just wait a bit longer". Finally after almost 40 minutes, we were seated inside. There is no patio seating here and the venue is really small. I wouldn't recommend for groups over 4-5 at the pleasant hill location unless you call to make a reservation in advanced. Though I'm not sure if they take reservations. Anyway, we ordered the following. Kids pancake and fruit. Kids fried chicken & fries + a side of extra crispy bacon. Both kids meals came with an apple juice. Crab Benedict. Chicken and wafffles. Ube pancakes Hot chocolate Thai Iced Tea & an alcohol beverage. The something sour. Can't remember the name but had grapefruit, soju, tajin rim. Damn near EVERYTHING was delicious!! We loved it alllll. Minus the hot chocolate. My kids did not like it, but it wasn't bad. Just not a favorite. On top of the food being yummy! It's all so decently priced. For everything mentioned above, our bill came out to $150. Which to me, in today's world, for 4 people, all of that?! Is not bad at all. I spend more on a less when grocery shopping for two days worth of groceries. We WILL be visiting again!

I sat at the bar, and the bartender, Ronnie, was very friendly, attentive, and just overall had great energy. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the sea salt edamame, and both were really good. The food came out surprisingly quickly, which I really appreciated since I was there on my lunch break. It was great because I actually had plenty of time to sit down, enjoy my food, and not feel stressed about getting back to work. That alone makes a big difference when you're trying to find a good lunch spot. Everything tasted really fresh. The spicy tuna roll was flavorful without being too heavy, which was exactly what I was looking for during lunch. And the edamame was great! I also love that they have different options for the edamame, including spicy and garlic, so I'll definitely be trying some of the other flavors when I come back. This was my first time in, but I'll definitely be coming back more often. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other rolls and checking out more of the menu.

Parking was a bit tricky as they had some sort of event and a lot of the streets were closed off so I had to drive around a bunch of times. Luckily I came earlier than my reservation time. It was pretty nice weather out so I opted for a table outside but the ambiance is nice inside. Dim setting if you want to sit inside. I ordered a spicy pineapple margarita for my drink but it tasted like it didn't have any alcohol in it so that was a bummer so I didn't really want to order any other drink. I ordered the spicy edamame for appetizer, but it wasn't spicy and lacked a little in flavor/seasoning. I still ate it as I needed some sort of vegetables. For my food, I ordered my favorite salmon melt! This is a must order when you come. Always a hit! (I dipped my edamame in the sauce and it added great flavor to it lol) They had a Mother's Day special for handrolls and I was tempted to try it but didn't want to be super full, so I got two nigiri's instead; one hamachi and one spicy scallop. Both were so good! I would definitely order it again. Hamachi was fresh and soft. Easy to chew. Spicy scallop was made with a spicy mayo and cut up into pieces. Both were really good portion sizes. I was full but wanted to order more cause they were so good. I was offered the dessert menu but I was full so I didn't order any. Love coming to Sasa. Great service, great food and nice restaurant. If you get a chance, definitely check them out!

Even the broccoli beef just didn't have much to it until we added in some soy sauce. There was a slight mishap this time though I made the reservation about three days before Valentine's Day and received a confirmation text. Then the day before Valentine's Day, I got another text saying my reservation was canceled, which definitely threw me off. Thankfully, I called the restaurant and they were able to get everything situated and reinstate my reservation. That was a relief. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess who asked if we had a reservation and then directed us to our table. I really liked our table location it felt comfortable and perfect for a date night. The ambience of the restaurant was nice and set the tone for a great evening.
