My experience was the antithesis of Tal's...debating on whether to give them another try. Usually would never go back, but clearly Tal had a different experience... Pros: 1. Friendliest staff you will ever meet. 2. On Saturdays - nigiri is 4 pieces per order rather than 2...for the same price. 3. Basic Rolls - like spicy tuna or california, etc - are 2/$10 all the time. 4. Salmon was very fresh Cons: 1. Waited 40 minutes for our order...yes 40!!! They did take 20% off our bill without asking due to that, but still 40 minutes!!! and there was only one other table occupied and no one coming in for pick-ups! 2. Rice was an odd flavor...and not in a good way, so ended up eating sashimi rather than nigiri. 3. Limited choices - for example - no mackeral 4. Covered two of the rolls with some weird sauce, which wasn't stated on the menu, and was so salty that it was inedible... and of course, these were not the cheap 2/$10 rolls 'cuz that's just the way life is. 5. They seared the white tuna - also not stated on the menu - so had a slightly smoky flavor...couldn't decided whether I liked it or not, but love white fatty tuna so didn't like the surprise. 6. Spicy tuna is HOT - too hot for me, though this may be a plus for some. Mouth still tingling hours later... 7. Odd hours - close at 4 on Saturday, and 6 on other days. read more

Wow, had I known Sushi Time was so close to my office, I would already be a regular customer! Their lunch specials are great, service is friendly and fast (except getting the bill - but that's nice - they're not trying to jam people out). They have about 10 different entree lunch specials, each for $7.95, as well as a two sushi roll lunch special for $10/11 (11 if you get tuna). Regardless, each lunch special comes with a small house salad with a carrot ginger dressing that is so good you'll want to lick the bowl clean, a small miso soup, and whatever entree you get - ranging from protein (salmon/chicken/pork/tilapia) plus veggies and rice, yakisoba or udon with your choice of protein, or two sushi rolls from specified A/B lists: 6 pieces of the standard roll, 10 pieces of the fancier one. The entrees (non-sushi lunch deal) come with 4 pieces of california roll also, or you can substitute for 3 gyoza. I went for the two sushi roll deal, with the Hawaiian roll and the spicy crab roll. I was hoping the crab wouldn't be imitation since they list 'IMITATION' elsewhere on the menu when it is imitation, but unfortunately it was just like having a cali roll with spicy mayo - fine, but not what I hoped for. The Hawaiian roll was good - the fish was fresh, as was the avocado, and their different accompanying mayo sauces were interesting and tasty. Sodas cost $1.50. My friend had the yakiudon and it was HUGE. HUGE like two men could share it for lunch before going out to do manual labor in the hot sun all day. There was a good amount of chicken in there, as well as vegetables. Definitely worth $8! Before we left we watched someone get a salmon terriyaki entree delivered to their table and it looked delicious too. i will definitely agree that the staff is super friendly. the food is a good value for the lunch special, but in general, the food isnt something great. its more like "meh". i would eat here if i was just eating for lunch and there was nothing else (VERY VERY possible in this area, theres no good food at all next to parkland hospital). my friend had the pork cutlet and it looked the best. i think their rolls are pretty good - the waitress (nicest waitress i ever seen) accidently dropped a sauce and it got on my backpack a little bit, so she brought our table one of their best rolls. however, if i were paying 10-11$ for it instead of it being free, i would rather go eat at a more legit sushi place. that being said, it is perfectly fine for lunch! just dont go there for any special occasion. it closes at 4 pm anyway, so that probably wouldnt happen. read more

Not exactly the best place to have sushi. But for the price you pay for 2 rolls, salad, and miso soup...$10 + tax. You just cant beat that anywhere else ( unless you go to a $10 buffet somewhere). I'm giving them 2 stars, 1 for service and 1 for mediocre tasting food. They have a friendly staff and they have japanese music videos playing on the TV. The service is quick. In and out in about 30 mins. Now the food.... considering you're only paying $10 for 2 rolls. You get what you pay for. For some reason my 2 rolls tasted the same... ( they were 2 different rolls, spider and philly). The use a peanut salad dressing, similar to Thai salads, on their salads and i really like this dressing. It's sweet, flavorful, and the salad taste fresh. I've had much better miso soup at other restaurants but i cant complain when i only spent $10. good Sushi and a warm, friendly staff. I've been here twice and both times they've brought out complementary rolls, which was really nice. It seems as if they are habitually slow, like all the other reviews have said. I had a similar experience last time when I was with a group of 6. The appetizers came out fast but they brought the main courses two at a time with 15 minutes in between, I wasn't that hungry (probably from all the free food they brought out) but it was awkward. I always drive by this place on my way to work and finally decided to try it. I walked in and asked for a take out menu. It was 5 pages long and did not have sushi on it. I asked for a sushi menu since the place is called Sushi Time. They searched for awhile before handing me over a menu which was literally a Word document on plain paper. Their sashimi section had a bunch of fried stuff on it. Really. The staff was very friendly. My 20 minute wait, however, was creepy because they had nowhere for me to sit or even stand. The place is so small I had to keep stepping back and forth while people came in and out or wanted to get up from their table. The spicy tuna caught my mouth on fire and I had to finally give up and throw it out. The other roll's rice was yuck. The lunch menu looked cheap and like it would be pretty good. I did not order off of it. I could tell by the way the staff interacted with them that there were a bunch of regulars in there (afterall, I was standing right there at some of the tables). This tells me this place must be doing something right and that I should give it another chance. But I won't. Not for sushi anyway. read more

I really love this place! I'm giving it 4 stars only because they don't have any alcohol and they close at 9pm (neither of which should matter to anyone other than a single person who's also a night-owl). I came in with me being the only person in the restaurant. Looks ok inside but I pretended like I didn't know what I wanted. So another lady comes in and orders. The cook, who was busy eating and playing with his phone goes into the kitchen to start making this ladies food. Never washed his hands, never put on any gloves. He then comes out of the kitchen to answer the phone and goes right back in to finish preparing food. Nah...cheap or not, I'll pass. As others have mentioned, this place has very friendly staff, oddly slow service even when they aren't busy, and the food - specifically we ordered rolls - was "ok". Not super fresh, but decent. I used to go here all the time for lunch when I worked off 35. It's been over a year since I've been there and decided to go several days ago. Let me just say the waitress/manager had the worst attitude, was not friendly, rolled her eyes several times, and was just flat out rude. The miso soup she brought out to us was lukewarm, after asking for a hotter bowl of soup, she took the soup she served us and apparently heated it up in the microwave and brought us back the same bowl. I ordered chicken teriyaki for me and a buddy...half way through our meal we both realized the chicken was a bit chewy. We cut it and it was undercooked and raw. Some were ok, but most undercooked. Good sushi in Dallas really comes in one flavor, and that's dimly lit restaurants where you can expect to drop at least twenty bucks to even remotely fill you up. Sushi time is not that kind of place. It's a step down in quality for sure, but it's still above say grocery store quality and plenty tasty. The decor is quaint (think mom and pop) and the service is great (see above about mom and pop). And the price... Oh the price... You can't really beat their 2 rolls for $10. Very closely located to work, I frequent this place for their awesome bento boxes.... I mean, the quantity along with the quality of food, you can't beat. I have not tried all of their sushi, but will be doing so soon. I usually have to pick it up to go. The only thing I don't like is all of the Styrofoam they have to use for my to-go meal. I was craving for some sushi for lunch and got to say that I've had better sushi. They put too much rice and doesn't taste like they seasoned the rice with rice vinegar. They over-drench the sauce on the sushi and was overpowering. Decent prices but not worth it. read more
