Albacore
Jenna H.

My family likes this place a lot. I was not a fan... make sure the menu is completely clean if you're with a group because there was one marked off and both parties thought the other ordered it so we got an extra roll... I got the climax. The mayo tasted weird... like maybe it was miracle whip? I couldn't eat the whole the thing. The bonus roll we thought the other party ordered was monkey brains. Didn't like it at all but that's because I hate mushrooms so take that as you will. The albacore sashimi was good. I ended up dipping in a side of ponzu. Family ordered veggie roll with soy paper and shrimp tempura which they both liked.

combo 1 and dragon roll
Celeste W.

very mediocre sushi, good portions and prices, ok service, but low quality food. ramen was not authentic at all with an overly salty and unflavorful broth that tasted like it was made from concentrate. the combo 1 was pretty good, the servings were large and the fish was ok, but the way it was cut was concerning. dragon roll was good - no complaints, pretty standard, same with the edamame. small complaint with the service was that we didnt get any utensils, plates, or napkins until we asked for it. otherwise waitress was kind and attentive.

Order the Climax roll!

I've gone here a lot over the years and have noticed the last 2 times that the food portions are smaller, food quality has gone down and it's considerably more expensive. I think they charge around $3-4 dollars more per item and the value just isn't there compared to similarity costed food. I've tried so many of their rolls but usually order the Climax and garlic edamame. This time the roll was smaller, had less of everything on it, notably the sauces on top, and the salmon was mushy and did not taste fresh. The garlic edamame was great though. I'm at a point that if I'm paying this much and the quality is now like this, I'd rather make the trek to Sushi Brokers. I'm attaching a picture with the magnificent Climax roll of yesteryear compared to the anti climatic roll from this last Wednesday,

Lobster baked roll

We came in on our day off excited to try a new sushi spot and were seated right away. We started with two Arnold Palmers and edamame. Unfortunately, the Arnold Palmers tasted like watered-down lemonade with no tea, and about half of the edamame wasn't salted. When we wanted to ask for replacement drinks, order sushi, and get salt, we waited around 15 minutes without anyone checking on us--even though there was only one other guest dining and multiple employees working. My boyfriend eventually had to get up and find a server just to place our order and request what we needed. After another 15+ minutes, our sushi rolls came out, but my replacement drink still hadn't arrived. We also weren't given soy sauce at any point and had to get up and grab it ourselves. When the rolls were dropped off, they were set down abruptly, and the interaction felt cold and unwelcoming. The overall energy made us feel like we weren't wanted there. Other odd things included receiving ginger, eel sauce, and spicy mayo in to-go containers even though we were dining in. We weren't checked on until we were nearly done with our first two rolls, and even then, the interaction felt rushed and indirect. When I asked for a manager, I was told none was present, and they wouldn't provide a way to contact one. We also had to track someone down just to get our check. The food itself was good--we really enjoyed the Firecracker and First Love rolls, though the baked lobster roll wasn't our favorite. Unfortunately, as servers ourselves, the service and attitude really missed the mark, and we likely won't be returning.

Veggie Roll Spider Roll

My husband and I stopped by tonight and were seated quickly. This was our first time and although the waiter didn't ask, we didn't tell them either. The menu had a vast amount of sushi offerings but a minimum amount of entrees. This is the first sushi spot where my husband struggled with finding something to eat. We ordered a good amount of food: Gyoza & crab puffs were okay, appetizer came out after sushi Miso soup was watery to the point of no taste Veggie roll was overwhelmed by cucumber Cucumber roll had large chunks of cucumber which my husband remarked Spider roll, was smaller than expected and not a lot of variety inside, again heavy on the cucumber Lobster roll, although the topping was well made it just didn't vibe Bento box, the one thing my husband found was not well made. The teriyaki sauce was barely there and the salad was drowned in dressing. He did say the rice was good. Overall it was better than store bought but we definitely have had better for cheaper prices. The menu said happy hour until close and that sushi was not half off. Definitely not worth the tab.

2 roll special

Aloha Hawaiians, I had a craving for sushi, I visited a familiar haunt of mines. This was the first Japanese restaurant I discovered in Az. Today fried calamari to start. Then, I moved on to the 2 roll special for lunch great prices. I also had the yellowfin sashimi. I'm glad they are still there a good spot to drop in for a quick lunch. In and out.

Every time we have family in town, I like to bring them here. This neighborhood family restaurant is great. Service is always great, we have always been a well taken care of. We ordered several sushi rolls, our always favorite go to sushi of course are the spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Rainbow roll and dragon roll were always great. Kiss my tuna roll was also another delicious option. Always recommend this place

Came for happy hour after 2pm on Saturday. Sushi was well done and good value but serious gap in service, speed and help, but still good

Lunch Bento Box
Heidi B.

Sushi style has really good, fresh sushi! The lunch bento box is amazing, and there are so many different options to choose from and mix and match. I loved the tootsie roll. Everything tastes fresh and the inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. The service wasn't great, the server barely looked at me. I shouldn't have to ask for a refill of water 3 times. I was tempted to grab the water pitcher on the other table and just do it myself. The food was great, the service just needs improvement, but I will be back to try again!

From the food to the service, everything was chef's kiss! It was our first time there, so we weren't sure what to order. Our server was absolutely AMAZING. She was so kind, patient, and genuinely helpful with her recommendations. I asked if they had raspberry or peach sweet iced tea, and instead of just saying no, she literally came up with her own concoction for me! That little extra touch meant so much. She even took the time to chat with us about where we were headed because we had a flight to catch. She was incredibly friendly, personable, and made us feel like more than just another table. And THE FOOD?! Absolutely delicious. We especially loved the shrimp dish so much that we ordered TWO more plates to go so we could eat them at the gate while waiting for our flight! lol That should tell you everything you need to know. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, but honestly, the customer service is what made this visit unforgettable. This woman deserves ALL the recognition because she was giving A1 service from beginning to end. I actually called the restaurant afterward because I wanted to find out her name, and I was told Ashley. I really hope that's the right girl because that name definitely rings a bell! If it is her, Ashley, THANK YOU! You were so kind to my mom and me and made our experience so special. So if you're in the Phoenix area, ruuuuuuun!!!

The food, the service, the atttentive-ness (shoutout to Shelby! She was so sweet and loved the whole dining experience with her) the ambiance is ALWAYS good. This time of year is especially my favorite with the doors open, the light breeze, the dimly lit interior, greenery, landscaping, it's just a vibe and I honestly don't ever want to go anywhere else. The seafood tower is our favorite! Every single thing is SO fresh, the best we've ever had, buttery, fresh, and delicious. They also don't skimp on portion size. Their drinks are super yummy, I love the Diego Riveria drink! So good. Great wine selection. The shrimp risotto was super yummy the pan seared salmon! Also, we've had their sushi and oysters rockerfeller and they are both outstanding. Thanks for sharing your amazing restaurant and staff with us! Cheers. We will be back again soon.

They have complimentary valet. 3. The espresso martini, voodoo fried rice, and the steak and fries were all very delicious. Now, what could be improved: 1. The caesar salad was dry and basic. It definitely needed more dressing and more flavor. 2. The mocktail was a major miss. It taste like soap or cleaning products. It was essentially an overpriced glass of pure awfulness and disappointment. 3. I wish there were more than one dessert option. The small cookie and the average tasting gelato just didn't do it for me. I gave it 3/5 this time, but I might give it another try in the future.

Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

Their house blend is the best sauce I've ever had, that alone is what keeps us coming back, I believe it is a Viet style Cajun sauce. We usually get the build your own combo, with crawfish, snow crab, and a few appetizers like french fries, garlic noodles, and onion rings. I believe they have changed management recently, or in the past few years. Although the sauce remains delicious, the food quality seems to be falling, and I see that they have a few food safety violations listed on their Yelp. The garlic noodles were swimming in the watery sauce, and the Cajun fries were not tossed, just sprinkled on top. The restaurant has never been that busy when we go, and there is usually is only one server doing all the hosting, food running, and waitressing. Ours seemed to be a little stressed today, and did not refill our drinks as much as we would've preferred, and forgot things like our salt and pepper. We will probably still keep coming just for that sauce, but looks like the restaurant has a few things to work out to bring back its former glory.

That did not make the food Taste good at all. They put way too much garlic in it, and the food was impossible to eat because it was overcooked and it was rubbery. I was very disappointed on how much money I spent . if I knew in advance that they had a family emergency and was closing 1 hour early I would've waited and come back the next day and maybe the food would've have tasted a lot better. It was the lobster seafood boil for two couples, and I bought two sets for four couples. Just beware that if they're in a hurry, try not to be in a hurry to eat here. You probably get a better experience than what my family did. I've been to crab shacks before that has seafood boil and they were way better and not so stingy for the price they charge you. when I was there, there was only one family sitting at a table.
