Food is great, coffee is good the service is exceptional but nothing too special about the ambiance

Stopped by here after a medical appointment that required minor fasting. Didn't see a lot on the menu I was interested in, but might have been my mood after an appointment. I ended up getting the quesadilla off the kid's menu. Waitress said it was made with one tortilla. I should have asked how big a tortilla. lol It was very small. Too small, imo, for even a kid's menu. More like a toddler menu. Tasted okay. Came with fruit and hashbrowns. The fruit was very good and all of it was fresh. Loved the pineapple. Hashbrowns had a bad flavor-from the grease they squirt on the griddle to cook the hashbrowns and get them crisp. It tasted old. I love hashbrowns and order them a lot when ordering breakfast. I could only take a few bites. The hubs ordered a panini. It came with potato soup. I tried the soup and it was good, but needed more flavor. Probably just needed a tad more salt. Waitress was attentive and patiently waited for us to decide what we wanted. Would probably try this place again if we are back in the area and need a bite to eat. read more

"Good morning," I yell from the couch of a Dallas Airbnb. My stomach growls, begging to be pleased. I went to meet my brother and sister-in-law for breakfast, and they recommended Sunview Cafe. Located in a never-ending strip mall in Allen, we walked in and got our name on the list. It was 11:30 am, so the early church crowd was coming in alongside us. We were told it would be about 30 minutes, but it ended up only being about 10. Inside, Sunview is loaded with Texas décor all over the walls. It feels pretty small, but they definitely take advantage of every corner of the space for seating with their booths and tables. The prices are pretty fair for a brunch spot. One thing that definitely caught me off guard was how many things were on their double-sided menu. It felt like a legal document with how extensive it was. It is definitely overwhelming, but I locked in and ordered a Meat Lover's Omelet. It's filled with bacon, sausage, ham, and American cheese. For my sides, I got hash browns and two pancakes, which is a steal for a $14 omelet. It wasn't long before the food came out, and I crushed the omelet. It needed some salt and pepper personally, but it was pretty good and hearty, especially with the pancakes as a side. The impression from my brother and sister-in-law was that they wanted to come back here often, and I'll probably find myself returning next time I'm in Dallas. Ambiance: This breakfast spot doesn't have the long morning wait that most places do. There's plenty of seating, good service, and the prices are more affordable compared to other spots. "For Dad": For the name, the portion size felt a little small and the dish itself is pretty simple. You can choose between bacon or sausage, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I am part of a men's group that meets monthly for breakfast. Hayley was our server today and she provided prompt, friendly service. I had the "For Dad" which was two pancakes, two eggs and choice of bacon or sausage. Pancakes were fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and bacon was crispy. Other members had the traditional breakfast, iron man and the healthy breakfast. Everybody enjoyed their meals and folks that got biscuits commented on size (I call them "cat head" biscuits) and tastiness. I had a cappuccino and the folks with coffee always had plenty of hot coffee thanks to Hayley. Y'all come check this place out! read more

Amazing service and homestyle food. Very cozy, and very casual. Breakfast at Sunview Cafe is a must. There are plenty of options, and portions are generous! My sister and I came and shared 1 entree (pictured). We got the Tex-Mex Skillet which comes with a side option - we chose blueberry pancakes. The Tex-Mex skillet was packed with hash browns, jalapeños, chorizo, onions, cheese, and your choice of eggs- we did over medium. The blueberry pancakes were stuffed with blueberries and topped with blueberries. The skillet was full of flavor in every bite, and the pancakes were fluffy, and the perfect combo with the spicy skillet. Coffee was wonderfully paired with the entree. We even received a dining card at the end hole punched that we bought an entree. If you buy 10, you get $5 off the 11th one. We've had meals here twice this week -once for pick up and another because our other brunch spot was unusually busy for Father's Day. I wish we'd just made breakfast at home, to be honest I'd hoped they were just having a "one off" day, but I'm certain this place has changed ownership/management because quality has been off. The coffee is not the same smooth brew and the food is just meh. The servers are working hard, but misdelivered some items as well. My scramble was flavorless and rather greasy today and earlier in week the hash browns tasted like old oil. This place never fails! Got here by 10am on Sunday morning. We were quickly seated. But it took forever for someone to stop by to take drinks order. There was some confusion in the sides too. I went with my family today. I heard good things about this restaurant. I wasn't overly impressed. It wasn't crowded, so that's good. It's clean and the bathroom was clean. The service was good at the beginning, but I couldn't get a refill on coffee and I ordered a glass of water that never came. I ordered the biscuits with gravy and hashbrowns as the side. I also ordered a bowl of fresh fruit. The fruit was good...fresh and tasty. The biscuits and gravy was just so-so. It lacked sausage flavor, and it was two biscuits split in half, so initially it looked like a good plate of food, with a healthy portion size. Then I cut into it...thin slices of biscuit. The hashbrowns were cold. We left. And an hour later, I was hungry. I drove 50 minutes to get to this restaurant to meet my parents. Next time, we'll go somewhere else. read more

So my brother and I ate here last Friday and we both got sick. The hashbrowns were cold and undercooked and the bacon was cold and overcooked, it's really easy to par cook bacon and finish it to order so it is warm and not overdone. The service was also poor and they never cleared our plates which should happen when we are done eating. This place needs to re-train everyone on how to serve and cook. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise!!! Typical Texas decor with lots of booths. We both ordered omlettes and they were super tasty.... definitely one of the better omelets I have had. Eggs were fluffy and was served very hot which is a real pet peeve for me. The pancakes were also light and yummy. I am deducting a star because it took like 10 minutes to get our check....our waitress simply disappeared for like 20 minutes. Other than that it was great. Enjoyed the Avocado Toast with medium runny egg. Service was attentive but not overbearing.

I had the Healthy Breakfast which is egg white, spinach with avocado and low fat cheese. Unfortunately I did not enjoy my food, it was too greasy and the avocado was brown with dark spots. The best part of my meal was the wheat toast which is impossible to mess up. Hubby had the Avocado Chicken sandwich which he said was good. Service was slow. Staff were friendly but extremely slow. I really enjoy sunview Cafe. The friendly greeting by the hostess, all of the servers remembering me from previous visits. Asking if I will have my usual. Very friendly family type of environment. I order the meat lover Skillet with mushrooms and jalapeno, over easy eggs and English muffin. This is one of the few places that actually Cooks the egg correctly on the first try! Angelica is my favorite, but they are all friendly and welcoming. She gives me the long time friend Vibe every time I visit. This would have received 5 stars had it not been for the server. My kids ordered kids drinks and they came out in huge cups. We were a little confused but realizing they also had free refills and were busy, we thought she was saving trips? We got the bill and we're charged an additional $7! We asked her about it not being included in the kids meals, and she responded "I put them in big cups so I have to charge for it"...what?! Aside from the service, the food was EXCELLENT! I had the French Benedict, my husband had cinnamon French toast and my kids had the kids special and Mickey pancakes. All very well presented and delicious! We would go back because the food was great, but service needed improvement! Other servers there seemed more attentive to their tables and interaction was nicer. The chicken for the chicken and waffles was under seasoned, same for the hashbrowns. The Oreo pancakes surprisingly were dry and lacked flavor (not sure how that happened). The service is homey. The skillets are the bomb. They're tasty and you won't leave here hungry! Trust me.

Food has always been spot on since we started going here soon after they opened. Today, not so much The good - Biscuits, tho only lukewarm, are a notch above most all (Norma's are better) other breakfast joints. Coffee, huge cup and always asking if I need a refill (yes!) The OK - Center cut Applewood smoked bacon but, as in the biscuits, only lukewarm. The bad - Cool eggs and hash browns. Inedible. Sent em back, eggs came out hot, hash browns warm and greasy. I mean, these two items weren't just bad, they were bad bad - cool eggs and hash browns are inexcusable. 10:30 on Sunday morning and less than half full. Customer service is great, food came out fast and was plentiful, I ordered the chicken fried chicken with eggs, grits and pancakes. Pancakes had a good sweetness to them and were fluffy and good, chicken fried chicken was a nice portion and tasty. Grits could've used a lot of salt (but that was an easy fix) after adding salt, pepper, and cholula they were good. Love the ambiance, it's small and quaint but has good music and a good feel. The food is always tasty and fresh. The service is very attentive. My only complaint would be the way the staff throws/drops the dirty dishes into a dish bin. As a sufferer of triggered migraines, I had to endure that very issue twice in my most recent visit. Despite taking a very expensive medication ($40.57 per pill) to shorten a migraine duration, the two incidents of loud noises of careless dishes clanking triggered a migraine swarm that absolutely ruined my breakfast and rest of the morning/day. Perhaps management would be well advised to consider educating staff on avoiding such scenarios by simply being more considerate of their nearby patrons. I'm certain these same employees don't sling their dirty dishes at home like they are doing in this restaurant! While I do unconditionally recommend the restaurant for its food quality, sadly, I may not return to this restaurant for fear of another incident. Food poisoning. All I got was a chicken wrap and that's all I'd eaten that day, and within a couple hours, I had food poisoning. Luckily it wasn't very good so I only ate half. We went during a non-busy time so I think the hostess was the one who was our server, or at the least she didn't seem to be a regular server. She struggled a bit taking our order and was hard to track down to get refills. Since we were her only table, she wasn't walking by so service was a bit lacking. The food we were served was average at best. I might have left a 3 star review had I not gotten sick, but food safety is the absolute minimum that I expect from a restaurant. I've noticed since moving back to Frisco there's lots of these small cafes that pack a lot of good food! First off I loved their variety of foods. They have lots of options beyond the regular pancakes and waffles. The paninis really caught my attention but I was craving breakfast. I chose to get the cinnamon French toast combo which came with eggs and bacon but I subbed them for hash browns and the chicken apple sausage which was an $1 up charge because of the sausage. My only complaint is that our server told us that since the chicken sausage is higher quality that instead of subbing my 2 bacon strips for 2 chicken sausages I only get one. I didn't like how I got 1 and it was an extra $1. The cinnamon French toast was really really amazing tho. I loved loved how crispy and flavorful it was! The hash browns were sooooo seasoned and tasty I was so surprised...I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. Perfect cozy spot for breakfast in Allen!! For parties greater than 4 you might wanna get there early or call ahead (I'm not sure if they take reservations.) The breakfast menu has all the dishes you'd expect, eggs any style with sides, omelettes, crepes, French toast, skillets, oatmeal... BUT what sets this place apart is the service and super friendly waitstaff! The place is also very cozy and has eclectic interesting decor. My recommendation is the MiGAS!! They were delicious with the right amount of heat from the jalapeños and the choice of corn or flour tortillas. My favorite part is they put the salsa separate in a little tin. Hash brown had a little crisp to it. Only lost 1 Star according to my 12 year old for the 20 minute wait outside for our table. If you have a smaller party you will be seated quickly!! read more

My first time at Sunview cafe was absolutely fabulous. Wait staff, service and food was spot on. I got a breaded chicken with eggs this came with two sides of your choice. And this was pretty filling! My husband got the garden skillet, it looked colorful and delicious. I'm gonna try it next time. This also came along with two sides of your choice. For Melissa & Anna locations only! I found, on a few occasions, at both the Melissa and Anna cafes, foreign matter in my food. The last time it occurred was at the Melissa cafe a few days ago. I reported it to the server and both owners. The owners said they would do something about it. Come to find out, the server or the owners did not even notify each other. And, the next thing I knew, the following day, I was barred from both cafes. I love my neighbors in both Anna and Melissa, and wanted to make you aware. If you can get passed the intense smell of the Fabuloose cleaning product you may enjoy the meat lovers omelette. The sides were not very tempting and no gluten free options. The waitress was incredible and even looked up the hollandaise sauce to see if it had gluten... It didn't but it did have MSG! Ugh. Maybe get the omelette to go? Very fluffy and generous. We came here at 9 am on Sunday, not too busy and got a table right away. Its quite cool in here, temperature wise. Our waitress was cheerful, rushed and we had to get her attention for all water/coffee refils. We ordered meatlovers skillet and Ironman. The skillet was $12+ and was suppose to come with 4 kinds of meat, cheese, potatoes and eggs. Pictured here. We couldnt get over the skimpyness of the portions! Taste was a 5 out of 10,definitely not worth about 13 dollars. The atmksphere is lively, rusged but it took 23 minutes to get our fiid and we had to ask our waitress how much longer.
