Hello neighbors... I wanted to bring a fantastic local restaurant to everyone's attention. Located at 503 West McDermott, in Allen right across the street from City Hall is Sofra... It's a great breakfast and lunch spot. Not sure how I missed this place for so long. My wife and I just had a late breakfast there, the food was great, the wait staff was friendly, the place was immaculately clean and the atmosphere was very relaxing... The pricing was absolutely not over the top but actually very reasonable considering the meal quality and dining experience. Sofra is a locally owned business and not one of those chain restaurants with high prices and mediocre food and service. If you are wondering what to have for breakfast or lunch, please support these folks and give them a try, you won't regret it. I will absolutely eat here again!!! We enjoyed our brunch here! We both ordered sweet French toasts--mine was the Cappuccino French toast, and my sister got the Very Berry. Both were very good and beautifully presented. We also got coffee. I originally wanted a dirty matcha latte, but they had run out of matcha, so I went with a dirty cinnamon latte instead. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Small crowd in the restaurant. Seating was comfortable, restaurant was attractive. I ordered a breakfast with hashbrowns, chicken fried chicken and eggs. Hash browns were nice and crunchy. The eggs were flat and round on the plate and looked like a yellow pancake. Lol. But they were very very good. Chicken fried chicken was crunchy and maybe a little over cooked. The breading broke off when you tried to cut it. Very hard to eat the breading with the chicken. Nothing tasted seasoned. Not even salt the breading or the chicken itself. I am a Texas girl who loves Chicken Fried Chicken or Steak. This is the first time in my many years that I could not eat most of it. I kept adding the super finely ground salt they had, but it still didn't taste all that great. Maybe I should have gotten the beef instead. Looking at the pictures I saw online, the way I received mine is pretty much the way it is with all the others they make. The hubs got a breakfast bowl with a pancake. I gave him the pancake that came with my meal also. He said they were very good and very filling. I ate some of his leftover bowl and it was pretty good, but it also needed more salt. read more

Hard, overcooked French toast. Weird tasting grits. Thick crepes, fake tasting raspberry sauce. Thin omelettes. Greasy hash browns. I came in expecting the same level of service and quality of food as the other places that serve Segofredo coffee but this one needs to either retrain their cooks or consider a new location to justify their high prices. We visited this breakfast and brunch spot for Sunday brunch on Mother's Day, so it was understandably busy. The place was packed, and we had about a 15-20 minute wait--not too bad for a holiday crowd. We ordered the Bacado omelette and the Mediterranean skillet. While the food took quite a long time to arrive, it was absolutely delicious!!. it would've been nice if the staff had been better prepared for the crowd. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, we were very well taken care of! They have great coffee options and their breakfast menu has a large assortment of options. The room has several tables, comfy booths and a cute coffee bar. If you're in the Allen area, looking for breakfast, this is a great place to eat! My husband had the regular French toast with a side of hash browns and I had the very berry French toast. Everything was delicious! They also have a large choice of coffee drinks to choose from. We didn't know about this breakfast place last until last week. Their service is top notch and was great! To test a breakfast place I usually go for Benedict's and my husband has skillet. I feel since we love it so much, it is a perfect go test a place. And Sofra didn't disappoint. I ordered the French Bennie that came with a thick slice of ham and a glossy hollandaise with perfectly cooked eggs. The skillet was delicious.. my husband had the chicken carnitas and it was extremely tasty. The food came out fairly quickly. Delightful new diner. My gals and I came for breakfast with baby and enjoyed a long leisurely meal with superb service. Of note our food was super clean and not at all greasy which we really appreciated. No vegan options so I had avo toast which was superb. One companion had breakfast carnitas bowl and said it was really good. Another had apple french toast and called it interesting. We drank coffee, fresh squeezed OJ, and chai lattes. We did find the price point a little high. We realize inflation has been recent and it's hard to balance with prices coming back down shouldn't that start reflecting on menus too. Especially at breakfast which should historically be cheaper. But overall we enjoyed our meal and experience. Loved the staff!! read more

I've been here two times and overall, I would recommend. First trip, the pancakes were really good. I had a plain one with my skillet meal andy son had the Oreo pancakes. He was a huge fan of his and that says a lot. Second trip wasn't as good for me. My daughter had the crepes and she was a fan. She has another place in town she likes better but gave Sofra a critical second place (also says a lot). However, I had the biscuits and gravy and just wasn't impressed. Water down ice tea, thin chicken fried chicken, thin layer of skillets, not fresh pancake, makes you feel like the restaurant is not serving Texas size but rather TEMU, and dollar style by cutting corner. Sofra is a hidden gem in Allen! I enjoyed the Senior Breakfast which is just right for a light eater. The ambiance is quaint & inviting. Our server, Chase was attentive & on point. We're first timers who had a great breakfast here on Saturday. My Chicken Carnitas and wife's Eggs Benedict were aces. I forget what our son and his wife had but they were very complimentary. A lovely place, our hostess was friendly and our server attentive (she had a server in training with her). Last minute decision to go out for brunch & decided to try this place from the great reviews. We were told they had a big crowd earlier but the place was clean and the staff was amazing! Hubby always judges a new breakfast place by their CFS breakfast plate. This one was perfectly cooked & real steak, not ground beef. My only complaint is too heavily seasoned for my taste a good steak doesn't need that. I really loved the omelette with all the fresh veggies and tomato. Dined here on Sunday, May 5th. We were a party of four and quickly seated. Waiter was nice.. everything was going good for a while until we realized other people were getting food before us. Nearly an hour later and only after inquiring about our food, we received our order. The pancakes were undercooked, eggs were either under cooked or over cooked. The omelette was definitely not an omelet. There were items missing from our order. We waited another good ten minutes for the owner/manager to come speak to us. In which case, she was completely rude and went as far as telling us that we don't own a business, so we don't know what it is like. She doesn't know us. She doesn't know that we may very well own a business. Furthermore, she insisted that her customers like the food the way it was presented to us (undercooked). Who speaks/shouts at their customers like that!? Her attitude towards people who are dissatisfied in any manner is what will bring this place down. My wife and I typically come here after church on Sunday. We placed our usual order but we asked for no cheese/no avocado (avocado being an allergy). We wait about 20 minutes, food comes out & it has both cheese/avocado on it. We asked for them to take it back. It happens, no big deal. They food comes back out to the table 1-2 min later with traces of avocado still within the meal. Thankfully there was a server who suggested that we leave because the OWNER refused to remake the order but also stated "Just wipe the avocado off, it's not like she'll die". Given the fact that they sent this order out minutes after us sending it back, I truly believe the owner made this remark. I also hope this server is protected and doesn't lose her job for being HONEST!!! They sent out a server who claimed to be the assistant manager, then a secondary owner came out and stated that they typically remake the order when there's an allergy. Well if this were the case why wasn't it remade the first time we sent it back? We just hope that they don't do this again in the future. It can literally cost someone their life. read more
