Mixed feelings. I book marked this place last year. Today I was intent on getting a late lunch but something healthy. I wanted a salad and noticed they had a few options so set a course for Sultan. Up front Im not a mediteranean/middle eastern food seeker. Ive had my share over the years and it can be really really good or really average. The menu seems to have your standard options for a regional food like this. What I sampled was the lamb kabobs with rice. It also had a small garnish that wasn't quite a salad. Overall for $23 at lunch I thought was too much for this dish. In addition I was charged for water. The last time I was charged for water was Rome. I don't remember ever being charged for water in the United States. My lunch companion loved theirs but again,$25 at lunch, charge for water? The dinning room is lovely with pleasant decorations and comfortable booths. Service was good if not a little pressured. To be honest I'm not sure I would return after spending $80 at lunch. I strongly suggest offering some less expensive options for lunch in this location. However, don't let my review stop you. If you like Mediterranean food you'll find something to try here. Just be warned,it seems like a gamble.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here! The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was fabulous and welcoming. It is definitely family friendly and also a great spot for date night. All the staff were super nice and helpful. We ordered an appetizer and a couple of entrees. All were good and with the try. I thought the prices were a little bit on the pricier side for what is was, but I am still glad we tried it.

Wow! I'm impressed with this place. The ambiance is nice and feels like a fancier place for sure. The price point is a bit higher but not like ridiculously high. The food quality is on point though. The bread here is freshly baked and it's some of the best in house bread I've ever had!! Every dish was presented with such quality and purpose. The combo for 2 was more than plenty for us and it has a good selection of different meats if you really don't know what to get. One of the chicken dishes was so moist and flavorful!! The falafel was really good too. Overall this is a perfect spot for dates or a nice meal with family and friends. And the service was amazing too.

Came back for a date night with my husband and they did not disappoint! Super family oriented and very nice staff. Seating was super comfortable and the smells of the food felt like home. The food was fresh and extremely tender steak and chicken thighs which is my husband's favorite. Check them out!

We were looking for some Mediterranean food and had the good fortune to go to Sultan - this place is just great! Fantastic Middle Eastern food (I am no expert on ME food, but this was really, really tasty). The ambiance is inviting and laid back with outdoor seating available. The service was excellent - very attentive and kind people. If you looked like you needed something, any of the staff would help - not just your waiter. But the food - Oh my! We started with the falafel - (see photo), some of the best I have had. We were not fans of the included sauce, so we ordered the Tazikki. Wow! I was a little reserved because of the $9 price but, it was lights out and came with Sultani Bread - (see photo). I had no idea what I have been missing these last 60 years - any day eating Sultani Bread and Tazikki has got to be a good one. It got better - we had the lamb kabob, and were not prepared for the size of the dish and everything with it - (see photo). Wow, Wow! Rocked my world... We finished with the Turkish Baklava - I managed to take a picture before it was finished (I wasn't fast enough to get it all) - my wife loved it! Our biggest regret with our initial visit to Sultan, was our inability to try all the interesting things on their menu - so we obviously have to go back - multiple times. Treat yourself right and go visit Sultan.

Service was great and the overall experience was very pleasant. My wife loved the lamb skewers -- they were delicious and cooked well. The Adana kebab was a little salty and slightly overcooked, but still flavorful. The café latte tasted more like milk and water, with not much coffee flavor. The kazandibi wasn't too sweet, which is good. The katmer was very good, and the ambience was nice and comfortable.

Food 10/10. Service and ambiance 10/10. We started with hummus which was yummy. We then ordered a pot of black tea. So so good. We also ordered the platter for two which came with spicy chicken, chicken, lamb skewer, and ground lamb. It was served with two kinds of rice and flavored bread. Y'all HAVE to come try this amazing food. We had food to take home.

We were going to the Heard Museum for Halloween and stopped here along the way. The wife identified this place on Yelp and what a wonderful find! This restaurant is outstanding in every respect. Truly an excellent experience and worthy of more than 5 stars. If we lived closer, we would be here once a week. The interior is very attractive and gives a homey vibe. There are definite signs of a Middle Eastern restaurant but it is not gaudy or overdone. Service was excellent. We were seated and the waiter appeared shortly thereafter. His English was perfect and his demeanor was gracious and polite. Throughout the meal it was easy to get his attention for something we needed. The food is stupendous. Beyond outstanding. Beyond amazing. Beyond "awesome" (the most overused word in the English language). It was nothing short of stupendous. We started with the trio appetizer, which is three dips: roasted red pepper (the menu says spicy but it is not really spicy); hummus; and the eggplant dip that I can never spell correctly, but the one that starts with a "bag". You know what I mean. All three dips were excellent, and they came with a type of Syrian bread that I had never seen before. It was hot and went perfectly with all three dips. I had the shish taouk which is seasoned cubes of chicken breast. Oh my gosh, it was the best I ever had. By far. The chicken was very flavorful, so tender, so moist, so utterly delicious. It came with delicious rice, all served on very attractive tableware. At $23, my first impression was that it was a bit pricey but after eating it, the quality and even quantity was worth every penny. The wife had the lamb shank and she loved it. The lamb was cooked to perfection, very tender and moist. It was high quality lamb. I am not a lamb person but I tried a bite and the meat did not have the strong flavor that you sometimes get with lamb. The price was $30 which I thought was high but again, the quality was worth it. It came with the same rice as I had, plus some bean soup. Everything was absolutely delicious. The portion was so large that the wife took it home and got two lunches for the week. This restaurant is quite a drive for us or I would return the day after. We are definitely going back and I hope it will be soon. This restaurant is an absolute gem. The wife and I joked that we should move to Allen just to be close to this restaurant.

Loved Sultan! The food is delicious, the meats are tender, and the service is friendly and attentive! They also have a cute outdoor patio! We had the appetizer trio with hummus, ezme, and babaganoush. The bread is hot and delicious Entrees we ordered the Iraqi Quzi and the meat was so tender and falling off the bone! We also had the makluba with beef and that was flavorful too and came with a side of pickled cabbage and salad that went perfectly together. I tried the ayran drink and it was interesting! A yogurt based drink that is salty and tart. Surprisingly good with the food but definitely a very unique flavor. Overall we enjoyed our meal and will be back again!

We arrived as a party of five on a medium-busy Sunday evening. The tables were a reasonable distance apart, and the noise level was also fair. The food was delicious. Having not experienced authentic Turkish food before, the mention of authenticity made my group eager to give Cafe Istanbul a try. Ordering was painless and easy. There are entrees for individual meals and easy options for groups to share family-style, which we opted for. We ordered an appetizer platter with beef meatball, baba ganoush, hummus, and phyllo borek (ground beef with spices and onions inside a deep-fried phyllo wrapper). It was a bit odd that there were different amounts of each (2 meatball, 4 phyllo borek, and dollops of baba ganoush and hummus were only enough to get a small taste each) but it was balanced out by the portion size of the entree. For the entree, we opted for the mixed grill plate to share. It had chicken shish kebab, lamb kebab, adana kebab (ground lamb, pepper, and spices), grilled chicken wings, and chicken beyti (ground chicken and spices, grilled). This was served with rice and red cabbage on the side. Individually, each amount seemed small, but given that this plate was meant for two, we were still pleasantly full after polishing this off. Everything was well seasoned. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. I'd especially recommend the chicken beyti. The here service was swift and outstanding. We were quickly offered menus, waters, and utensils. Our waters were refilled quickly, and the kitchen took our request to plate the lamb separately in stride. The moment after my fork fell to the ground, a member of their serving staff swooped to fetch it (it was behind my chair) while another brought me a new one. It was a very well-rehearsed dance. Worth mentioning is also the fact that there were two separate groups dining that evening (a large family, and a group of friends) to celebrate a birthday. This is a restaurant worthy of birthday celebrations :) Overall, the portions are decent and filling, the food is delicious, and the service is exceptional. Consider visiting this restaurant next time you're in the area; you'll be glad that you did!

It was my first time having the lahmacun and to say it's a Mediterranean pizza is really an injustice. It looks like one but there's no cheese, and the dough is actually thinner and not as crispy but it's absolutely scrumptious. It's topped with a tiny salad of tomato, onions, parsley and perhaps sumac, but I had to add a bit of salt to that. The Ezme was delicious and very fresh but takeout did not include table bread that you usually use to dip in the Ezme. Ordering lamb shish in the restaurant was a completely different and much more delicious experience; especially when the bread is fresh and hot. The cheese pide was delicious. The cheese was flavorful, and the bread was flavorful and tender. I would order it again. Dessert was the best thing we ordered. The Apple baklava is just amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Although I seemed to remember when I had this at the restaurant, it came with a scoop of ice cream, which is not probably feasible for to go.
