Went here for the first time during lunch hours and the overall experience was not good. I was asking the server and the front if the menu is Halal and they had no clue what I was talking about! It took a while for them to confirm and I reluctantly decided to eat based upon the way they confirmed. I was already there with family, we were all hungry, and just didn't want to drive somewhere else. Restaurant was dirty and had dust all over and everywhere. Look up at the ceiling and you will see big spider webs everywhere! Don't you think these webs fall on your table, food, drinks, utensils, etc., time to time? Absolutely no cleaning and thought about it from the management. Food that we ordered was pricey for the amount of meal you get. Taste was also just okay and nothing special. Service was slow and I had to call the server multiple times because nobody was checking on us in a timely manner even though it was not busy. I will not go or recommend this place. read more

Overall, my experience here for lunch was sub-par at best. My guest and I went there for lunch and upon entering it had the scent of a days old incense with bug spray cocktail. Not a single person was there at 12:05pm. When we tried leaving, the owner was departing from their other restaurant next door and asked why we were leaving. He insisted on us staying and said the waitress was just late. Of course my first thought was "no restaurant with great food would be this empty and if tips were flowing due to excessive business, then no wait staff would be late." When we were seated, everyone was extremely polite and kind. They brought out an appetizer on the house. While the waitress (which I think was a last minute impromptu waitress filled by a family member), the food was average on a good day. Granted, the dolmas were very good. The worst part was the check. How they displayed the bill didn't show the automatic 20% service fee. When did restaurants start charging a service fee of 20% on a two top in Plano, Texas? I can understand a table with 5 or more people and there are service fees in resort towns or destinations like South Beach where all the establishments charge a service fee. But c'Mon, this is a 97% empty restaurant at noon on a Monday in Plano, Texas. Does that really justify a service fee? More importantly, at least be transparent about it and tell patrons there is a 20% up charge for dining in. None of that occurred. Lastly, I ordered water, not bottled water. We weren't told bottle water was the only option, nor were we told we were going to be charged. Well, we were. Two waters. Two charges for bottle water. Overall, disappointed in the luring of my time into an ill-prepared restaurant at noon, but more so with the lack of transparency for the service fees and bottle water charge at a place with sub-par food. read more

Oh no water on table, when we asked for water they sold us there restaurant's bottled water lololol No service, the most horrendous food, they get 1 star for ambiance. Horrible experience. My husband made a reservation days ago for Feb 14. As soon as we go in the hostess says that they cannot honor our reservation. Few mins later we were sat down at a table. We waited 30 minutes and no one came to take order or serve water. Told the hostess that we were ready to order. She was absolutely rude and she told us they were busy and walked away. I can understand a busy day but people who walked in after us were served. We waited another 10 mins and left. Talking to the manager was also a waste. All he could say was I will seat you now. I made reservations for four people on Valentine's Day for the lower balcony. When we arrived, they told us they did not have our reservation and only had a table on the upper balcony available. The manager and front staff were not helpful at all. We had no choice but to take the table because most other places were already fully booked. Our waiter was polite and mentioned they were short staffed, but the service was extremely slow. When I asked for water, for water they told us they only had bottled water. When I asked for tap water, he said they didn't have any, so we were charged $3 per bottle. The food was average, and it was a fixed menu priced at $45 per person. The lower patio was supposed to be $45, but the upper balcony should have been $35. However, they still charged us $45 each. When I questioned it, I was told the price was the same, but on Facebook the upper balcony was clearly advertised as $35. On top of that, they automatically added a 20% tip to the bill and charged an additional 3% for using a credit card. We have been coming here for many years, but after this experience we will never return. It was very disappointing. There was hardly any dancing, the singer was terrible, and the belly dancer performed for only a very short time. Overall, it was not worth the price and the service and organization were extremely poor. read more

For water, you will be charged for their bottled water and the waiter added his own tip before offering us the bill to tip him again as you paid. We were greeted by Umit, then promptly seated and handed Menus by our server, Manu. I thought it was really impressive that he took the time to reconfirm my food allergies (mushrooms and eggplants) since unintentional cross-contamination occurs at some establishments. Our meal was enjoyable from start to finish - so much so, we stayed for two hours. We never, at any time during lunch, felt rushed. We started off with Turkish Mules. The pomegranate seeds lend a delightful flavor. Not tart and not sweet - just the right balance. We then ordered the Hummus, Falafel, the Cheese Flatbread, and the Chicken Kebab (which came with 6 chargrilled cubes of chicken, rice pilaf, onion salad, pickled red cabbage, & grilled tomatoes and peppers), followed by the Turkish Tea and the Pistachio Kunefe for Dessert. All excellent! Manu ensured we had what we needed during our meal. We chatted with both Umit and Manu and found them to be professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. Not sure why this place has such low reviews. This was not reflective of our experience and exactly why I tend to take google and Yelp! Reviews with a grain of salt. Dining in is always our preference. Side note: If you opt for take out, keep in mind that your food IS GOING TO GET COLD after you drive home, so don't come on Yelp or Google and leave a review denigrating the restaurant as if it's their fault. This is a beautifully run Family establishment and you would be doing yourself a disservice for not stopping by. There's just something about the vibe and energy here. I went to this place for the first time and loved the vibe. The food is excellent, with a wide variety. --plenty of drink options. They also have shisha with multiple flavors. The atmosphere is fantastic; the lighting is the best part, with mosaic lights from Turkey all over the place. There is live music and dance on weekends. I ordered their babagonush with pita bread, hummus, falafel, and a pot of tea .pita bread was freshly made and was soft; I wouldn't say I liked the taste of falafel, but their hummus and babagounush are delicious and flavorful. I also ordered their shisha with a flavor of Turkish delight that comes with a base of milk that was good, so we went ahead and ordered another shisha, Double apple, and rose, which we did not like as much. I enjoyed the tea. The ambiance was good, and the seating place was huge. If you are planning a fun weekend, I suggest a reservation.18% tip is directly included in the receipt! Recently ordered The Dubai Chocolate Cake and it was a flop. They charged me $25 for a thin slice of a cake, pistachio filling and ice cream. It barely had any pistachios. The requested ice cream was sitting next to it not sure what it was doing there - tasted like vanilla. I would recommend not to order that. . read more

The servers can't describe the food, nor the differences in the menu. So I ordered the beef and chicken kebab combo which says 4 pieces each. Now if you were in Turkey or any other Turkish restaurant, you would expect a skewer, not here. They literally mean 4 little (and I mean little) cuts of meat. The side salads that come are dried out and have probably been in the fridge for days. It's really seems more for garnish than to consume. Also the bottle water is $3 a pop and there's no other option for table water. 18% mandatory service charge/tip for lackluster service. Also a DJ that keeps blasting the music and then turning it down over and over which is pretty annoying. This place felt more like a lounge with food, rather than a restaurant so manage your expectations. I knew this going on but hoped for better every time. Terrible Iskander (Alexanders Special) very stale and dry. Its almost as it the food was made days ago and frozen. The bread under the meat was rock solid. Also very much missing turkish hospitality as I was charged for two teas. Normally turkish custom is to just charge one tea and do free refills but nothing is traditional here so not surprising. The place was empty and the bill was $210 for 2 people w no alcohol and one hookah. The regular belly dancing is MUCH BETTER than the theme night. It was a let down. Empty, and not anything like what I remember from visits about a year ago. I hope they have regular belly dancing nights again. This was disappointing and not worth the price. read more

Almost perfect, I was weary of all the bad reviews, almost wrote this off, but my wife insisted, glad she did. Food was excellent, ambiance was nice, music great. We started with the babaganoush, very creamy delicious hummus with nice spices, some nice heat by some type of pepper sauce, the freshly baked bread went well with the order. For our entrees, the wife had the Bursa Eskender, she said it was really delicious, the meat was juicy and soft, she loves the rice, but the yogurt was a little on the too much side, but overall very good. I had the beef and chicken combo tons I'd great protein, delicious rice, and side hummus, also came with a pickled red cabbage and some type of onion slaw,,the servings on our plate very generous. And to wrap things up we had Turkish coffee which was very flavourful with some Kunefe, which was a very nice surprise, lots of cheese and honey and the shredded wheat was a nice crunchy touch. Now some if the cons, that are heavily mentioned in other reviews. The waiter service is a bit slow, but was not terrible or at a frustrating point for us, but they do need to work on a system. They automatically add the 18% Service fee, plus are really adamant about having a tip, I gave in and added an extra 10 dollars, service was not bad, and food was wonderful. And yes you do have to pay for your bottled water, lol But in the end the wife and I had a great evening, and that's all that mattered to me. read more

Great service and excellent ambiance! I'd give it 5 stars if the food was better flavored. We ordered the platters for 4, so several meat options (the best and most flavorful was the gyro meat and grilled chicken . I would skip on ordering the lamb and beef kabobs. Portion size was also on the smaller side. We came on a night for Turkish/Kurdish, live music and lots of people dancing. There is multi level upper and lower patios, with the option to smoke hookah. Well ventilated if you don't prefer the smoke like myself. They serve great tea or you can have Turkish coffee and desert as well. read more

I recently went to Turkish cafe again with a large group of about 15 people, and was not happy with the service and the set menu/pricing that they offered. For groups larger than 5, they charge $35 if you sit outside on the upper deck, and $45 per person if you sit near the DJ and the dance floor. What I did not like about this experience was that this was not clearly communicate to our party at arrival. Mixed with lots of shock and confusion, we settled for the set menu and prices. What I did not like is that some members did not plan on eating this evening, but they were required to spend money for food anyway. My friend who only wanted to come to get a couple of drinks was forced to pay the $35 and was even told that if she did not want to eat here then they can pack her food to go. The dips they brought were actually delicious, the entree of the beef kabob was mid and took too long for it to come out. Some members of the group received their food 15-20 minutes earlier than the rest of the group so it made it awkward to eat first, but if they did not then their food would get cold. The most frustrating part is that the water is not free. They do not even offer tap water. We all bought the $3 water bottle and after dancing, we were parched but no one wanted to buy another water after the set menu debacle. I had water in my car, I even considered running out in the rain and bringing in my water bottle. The only plus side to their experience was the atmosphere with the belly dancers and the DJ. We had a good night dancing celebrating our friend turning 27, but other than that I would not come here again with a party larger than 5.
