Upon entering you are greeted with a warm smile, and food came in big family size portions recommended for sharing. It was perfect for my friends and I who were super hungry and wanted to try a few items. We started with the lamb samsa ( not pictured as I was too hungry) which was perfectly baked with a juicy spicy lamb that was super tender inside. We then also had this beef noodle dish which was the best dish of the night. Can't recall the them of it but, I'd definitely come back just for that dish. We also got the lamb shank Plov which was another favorite, and lastly the dumplings, which were our least favorite. The dumpling dough was a but too thick for our liking. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, especially with our server who was so kind and friendly, and so were her family. Even though we only ordered takeout, the woman working was incredibly helpful - walking us through the menu, explaining each dish, and checking our spice tolerance. You can tell she genuinely cares about sharing her culture and cuisine. The space itself is lovely, with thoughtful decor and relaxing music that creates a welcoming atmosphere without being too sleepy. It's clear that pride in heritage and culture shines through in every detail. We ordered a little bit of everything - Uyghur laghman, korma chop, Big Plate Chicken, lamb skewers, lamb samsa, and ayran - and every single item exceeded expectations. The lamb skewers were tender and flavorful, but the lamb samsa were the moment we realized we were in for something truly special. They were unbelievably delicious: crisp pastry, deeply seasoned filling, and so aromatic that you don't want the bite to end. Don't let the menu descriptions fool you into thinking the noodle dishes are similar. They might read like variations on meat and noodles, but in reality each one is completely distinct and packed with its own personality. The Big Plate Chicken comes with the widest, springiest noodles and carries the most heat. The korma chop features wonderfully chewy noodles with a medium kick. And the Uyghur laghman (hand-pulled, by the way) has the thinnest noodles and, in my opinion, the best texture of all. Every dish is hearty, rich, vibrant, and so full of flavor that I can't possibly do them justice in words. You simply have to try them yourself. Even the ayran stood out. I've had it many times before, but this one was exceptional - perfectly salty in a way that enhances the tangy, yogurt-like flavor instead of overpowering it. Our total came to $80, but considering we intentionally ordered a wide spread, it works out to about $20 - 30 per person - an amazing deal for food this thoughtful and delicious. RUN DONT WALK, this place is amazing. This was hands down the best lamb I have ever had in my life. The Lamb Skewers are worth getting, I will definitely be back. The Laghman was wonderfully spiced, not too spicy but enough to be feeling it by the end of the meal. The noodles were extremely thick, and bouncy with a lot of chew. I had some of the Chocolate Honey cake as well and I was not disappointed at all, it paired great with a warm cup of their Green tea. We had a fantastic date night here. Ordered the Uyghar Laghman (hand-pulled noodles) which were the perfect amount of chewiness. The meat was very tender with lots of vegetables. How about a tastebud adventure? If yes, you need to try this place. Some things look familiar but have a different flavor profile. We decided to try the place for the braised oxtails. Braised oxtails with potatoes and carrots on top of a bed of noodles. It was definitely a comfort food dish. It was like a hearty oxtail stew with a little kick on top of noodle which had soaked up the sauce. The only drawback was I wishes the oxtail was more tender. We also ordered the samosas (delicious lamb filling combined with a crispy flaky pastry) and gosh naan (it's like a flat pie, crispy pastry outside and a juicy lamb filling on the inside). The restaurant is small, and may be a bit difficult if you have more than 8 people! The men and women working here are very kind, but service is slow. Been wanting to try this place for a while now. They're located in the zTao plaza between the Cathay Bank and BBQ Chicken. I came in around 2 pm and it was pretty busy despite being past lunchtime. I was here mainly for the big plate chicken, but we also ordered some samsa, lamb skewers, lamb shank polow, and yogurt for dessert. I'd wanted the Turan cake too but they only had Honey cake today. The service was great. The wait staff visited each table every so often to check up on them. The food came out fairly quickly. I think I spent a total of 40 minutes in the restaurant including ordering, waiting, taking pics, writing this review, and eating. The space looks small from the outside. They have about 7 tables or so. Most of them seat 4 and a couple seat 5-6. Pay at the cashier when you're done eating. And now the food... The samsa was great. It's like a lamb meat bun with a crispy exterior. The meat was juicy and flavorful with a little fat and some tendon. It was perfect as a small appetizer before the main course. The lamb shank polow was pretty good too. The lamb meat basically fell off the bone when I went to cut it up. The rice was flavorful. The raisins added just a bit of sweetness to prevent the meat from being too overpowering. The lamb skewers were super tender, very spicy, piping hot, and juicy with some tendon. Be careful - the metal part of the skewers are hot when they first come out. You're welcome to eat off of the skewers but if you're worried about looking uncivilized or don't want to struggle with ripping the meat off the skewers with your teeth then I recommend pushing the meat off with a chopstick and onto your plate. The big plate chicken was great too. The chicken was warm, spicy, and tender. The potato was soaked with flavor. The bell peppers were fresh and tasted like they were blanched before being tossed in at the end. The noodles were soaked in the broth, and were spicy and chewy. Be careful picking up the noodles - they are very likely to splash you or the person sitting across from you. If I had to rank the ingredients of this dish in order of deliciousness, then it'd be potato, noodles, chicken, bell peppers. The big plate chicken comes in 3 sizes - small, medium, and large. Small is enough for 1 person. Medium is for 2 grown men. I assume large is probably for 3-4 people. And last is the yogurt - the yogurt was cool. It came with a splash of crunchy diced pistachio. It worked out as a great palate cleanser after the spicy meal. One thing I noticed was that the spicy foods got spicier and a bit greasier after cooling down a bit. So eat it while it's hot. Or let it cool down if the initial spicy level isn't enough for you. read more

I am honestly not sure how long it has been here, but after today's visit, it is certain to be added to our list of rotations. We also ordered their Signature Walnut Honey Yoghurt for Dessert. We made an 11:15AM Reservation through Google since it was our first time here and I was not sure how busy it would be during that time. You order from the Menu and pay the bill after you eat. Received with a welcoming vibe and cultural and delightful background music as soon as we entered. Abdullah graciously greeted us and told us to sit wherever we liked. It is a Husband/Wife (didn't get her name) Team - making everything hot, fresh, and from scratch - so we knew we were in for a treat. I don't believe ambiance is the focal point of the dining experience here; rather, it is the Five Star Quality Food and Service. I will gladly support a Family Business over a chain or franchise. The Cucumber Salad was crunchy, zesty, perfectly spicy, and was the ideal accompaniment to the Big Plate Chicken. The Big Plate Chicken had a bed of Chewy, Steamy Noodles, simmered with Bone-In Chicken, Potatoes, Braised Carrots, Red Peppers, and Dried Red Chilies. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful. It was also to our preferred spice level - not too spicy and not at all bland. The Signature Yoghurt had a texture resembling that of a cross between Cream Cheese and Greek Yoghurt and a depth of flavor that contrasted very well with the Honey and Walnut. Perfect after a meal! I like chewy noodles but these were either kneaded too hard or undercooked because it had a slight raw taste that gave me an upset stomach later. The lamb polow was good but the rice isn't the typical ones yet use and more of a Chinese style. Lamb shank was nice but slightly dry. Honey cake was pretty dense with a lot of crust layers. I tried a small big plate chicken, lamb korma, and a small order of dumplings. For a small, the portion size of the big plate chicken was huge, it's basically a big braised chicken stew. Bone in chicken is served on a bed of flat noodles or rice, piled with potatoes, onions, garlic, and bell peppers. It kind of reminds me of a Vietnamese beef stew but the chicken from chicken curry. The chicken was right, hearty, and fall off the bone tender. The korma chop had stir fried noodles with beef, onions, and bell peppers. I liked the noodles but the beef was a little bit on the tougher side. A small dumpling order comes with 20 dumplings. The filling was good but the wrapper was way too thick. Turan Uyghur is some of the best authentic home cooked meals you will ever have from a restaurant. The owner and his family are so nice. We get the Lamb Shank Polow (also called Uyghur Polo) and almost always order a second helping to bring home, it is so wonderful. It reminds us of our friend Ayse's home cooking back in New York, but unique in its own way to her's. Be sure to try that, but don't forget to also order one of the hand pulled noodle dishes like the Korma Chop or one of the others. They serve free hot tea with your meal, and it is so good as well! There's a homemade sweet yoghurt dessert that is so refreshing too. We need to try more items on the menu, but we so enjoy our favorites that it's hard to skip getting them. I've always been bummed that we didn't have any Uyghur restaurants here in DFW, so finally! It's in the Karen Dillard's strip mall. I was trying to get a latte at Cafe Hwasan and saw the name and had to pull over to support. (Lmao lamb pulao was not what I thought I was about to have for lunch). It's halal too, obviously. They're doing a soft opening now. Very sweet family that owns the restaurant. The pulao tasted like pulao we've had in Uzbekistan. The korma chop noodle is like a flavor bomb. I think this place opened new this week. Since moving to Dallas I was really missing Uyghur food and finally we were told by our Uyghur friend about this one. First chance we got I made sure to come here. It is located in a busy Asian strip plaza and seems like the place stays busy because of that. The owner and staff were extremely nice and friendly and were very attentive. The place is somewhat small. There is space for about 7 small families. It is however, spaced out nicely. They are still new so they are still waiting on some items and even food items to come. They still need some high chairs and we asked about Uyghur tea which is coming soon they said. The food still comes out slower compared to other cuisines which we are used to and understand. They make everything fresh and even the noodles are pulled on spot and cooked. Therefore, Uyghur cuisine always comes out at a slower pace which we expect. Now to the food we ordered...I am just so happy. The menu isn't as big which is okay because they still have all the main items. We got samsa, goshnan, polow with lamb shank, and big chicken plate (dapanji). Delicious! So flavorful and great levels of spice. We enjoyed the big chicken plate the most and even though we got the smaller size it was so big we barely got through half of it. The bigger size for the chicken plate is very big so make sure you have a good group of people before getting that. We will definitely be coming back here again.
