Came here a year ago and it was very good but went again a few days ago and everyone working there was Indian. It was early so the restaurant was only 1/3rd full and only had 3 people working that we could see but all 3 were Indian. We wanted authentic Chinese food so this was a surprise. Went to Uncle Zhou on a recent trip to Plano and I am still thinking about the noodles! We got the spicy noodles, the clear broth beef noodle soup, the cucumber salad, and the pan fried dumplings. I normally don't order dumplings because I make them at home, but these were fried to perfection and really tasty. The noodle dishes we got were so delicious. It was totally empty at 5:30 on a Wednesday evening, which was perfect as I was worried from all the rave reviews that we would have to wait a long time. You can really tell when food is made from scratch and I felt that when eating here. To start, the service was quick, and the staff was friendly. We ordered some dumplings and spring rolls to start. Then we ordered H1 with lamb and made it spicy. The spice level was perfect, however if you want more spice you can add chili (offered on the table). Tucked away to the side of a busy plaza, Yncle Zhou's is a gem. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the dishes are great. I tried one of the hand pulled beef noodle soups and while it was good, I wasn't a fan of the broth and the meat they used. They really should just use regular beef instead of the fatty, tendony cut that comes with it. I much preferred the blackbean and pork noodle dish--amazing! Wow. Just wow. We were so impressed by the incredibly thoughtful and generous service. We had a toddler with us, so they had a dish for him without us even having to look for one AND they included little scissors to cut the food. A waiter was constantly filling up our bottles and attentive to our needs. It was a bit hot in the booth our large table sat in, but one of the staff noticed we were a bit tight and prepared an extra table for us! Ok food. We couldn't even take photos because we dug in immediately. EVERYTHING was flavorful. There was NOT ONE bland dish. Everything was so aromatic and fresh and came out hot. It's impressive how they are able to produce such high quality dishes in such a short amount of time. Their oil splashed noodles stood out to me in particular because the bounciness and cook of the noodles was perfect while the garlic and other seasonings are super fragrant. While none of the dishes here are the best versions I have had, everything I tried was solid and I would not complain or be mad at any of the other dishes I tried. I would recommend going with a few friends or your family so that you can try multiple dishes and noodles. I felt like the noodles were overcooked rather than chewy, probably because of the steaming hot broth, and the broth itself tasted salty but had no depth of flavor. I've been seeing this spot pop up all over my instagram and tiktok and I finally got to try it today! The restaurant is pretty big and has alot of seating available and the decor is also cute on the inside. My friends and I family styled the food and tried several dishes. We got the green beans, the cucumber salad, the oil hand draw noodles, lamb dumplings, shrimp fried rice and the pepper steak. All of the food was so good and delicious and was more than enough for the 4 of us. We finished it all! My favorites were the steak and noodles. We tried Uncle Zhou for the first time on a Saturday night. The wait was about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad. They have a simple system where you write your name in a notebook at the front, and they call you when your table is ready. The food came out pretty quickly, which was nice. We ordered the beef wide noodle and the pork kouwan. Both dishes were packed with strong, heavily spiced flavors--definitely a distinct Chinese spice profile. The beef wide noodle had a good texture, and the broth was flavorful. My only real complaint was the tiny rice portion considering how cheap rice is should give us a bigger bowl of rice. So the pork kouwan it came with a tiny bowl of rice, which wasn't nearly enough, so I had to ask for an extra rice serving. We also got the fried dumplings, which were okay--not bad, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the food was good. If it were closer to us, we might go again, but given the long drive, it's not something we'd go out of our way for. Authentic hand pulled noodles!!! I saw this place on Insta and decided to give it a go. My dad used to make hand pulled noodles so my bar is pretty high. I must say.....I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this place is. I had the beef tendon wide noodles and the tendons were seasoned perfectly, the broth transported me back to Taiwan and the noodles had just the right chew and held up (didn't get soggy) throughout the entire meal. I also tried their scallion pancakes and was a little skeptical at first because they're super thin but you know what...the flavor was excellent and had a nice crispy crunch which I'm not used to but can definitely get there after this. My final order was the pork and chive pan fried dumplings. If you like chives, you'll love this. The dumpling skins were obvious hand made (I love the imperfections of hand made dumpling skins) and the flavor was excellent. Was not my fave (but I am not a fan of udon noodles or thick noodles in general bc it's very bready) - also the noodle dish did not have much flavor. I had to add in chili oil. Salt and vinegar/soy sauce. Finally grabbing some broth from my friends beef tendon dish which helped. Wonton in spices were very good. Pork and chive dumplings also very thick and bready. Weren't my fave either. Chinese hamburger was just HEAVY on cumin spice. Nothing spectacular. This place is sooo good; I'm definitely coming back for more! They offer food that is authentic to the Henan province, and it was all delicious. Additionally, everything came out hot and fast. Since it's a family establishment, I was also able to meet the owners, who are very sweet! I got the Lamb Hand-Drawn Wide Noodle, which had a broth that is extremely rich and comforting. If you're unfamiliar with this dish, it contains wood-ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, cilantro, and cellophane noodles in addition to lamb slices and hand-pulled noodles. I just wish the bowl was bigger because of how delicious it was haha. Another dish that I ordered was the Chicken Kou Wan, which is crispy chicken breaded with flour and egg that is then cooked in a liquid thickened with sweet potato starch. Be patient when eating this dish though, as there are chicken bones throughout. I also ordered the Chinese Hamburger (Lamb), which seemed like it had a filling of Cumin Powder Fried Lamb and I enjoyed. We came here 2 years ago and we loved the noodles... I am sad about our experience today. First, the friend wontons came out basically empty - I was so confused! Secondly, we ordered a menu item we thought was familiar to us but it came out different. We tried it and didn't like it so we asked if we could exchange it. The dial oil noodles were just ok, nothing too standout from other hand-pull noodle restaurants. It doesn't come with any meat but my server noted we could add beef or beef tendon for an additional cost. I did enjoy the pork and chive dumplings and fish in hot pepper sauce. The dumpling filling had a lot of flavor and the fish wasn't too spicy. The fish had a good balance with the sichuan peppers so there wasn't too much numbing feeling. Now it did only come with one bowl of rice so I would advise ordering another bowl if sharing with others. The only dish I did not enjoy was the spicy wontons as it was too vinegary for my taste.
