Dim sum has become an expensive endeavor at a lot of places these days, so glad to see an affordable spot. There's no push carts here, so everything is made to order, so you won't get the instant gratification of smelling scents and getting a ticket marked and food on the table, but I rather get it fresh every time. We got a ton of the classics: shu mai, rice rolls, beef flat noodle, taro dumplings, radish cake, sticky rice. All were honestly average - nothing that will blow your socks off, but texture is good, seasoning maybe a bit on the lighter side, but you can fix that yourself with the chili sauce and soy sauce at the table. But without having to wait super long for a table and fresh food, it does its job. Saw some others get buns and peking duck and those looked good, so would come back to try that. read more

The food is pretty good and the variety is great, but the real draw is the value. Zhang's Kitchen has immense portions and reasonable prices that keep me coming back. Service isn't bad but you will need to get the server's attention when you need to order, but that is common enough. Came in on Christmas Eve with some friends on a whim and enjoyed some amazing dumplings egg rolls and stir fry. The restaurant is brightly lit and the customer service was curt and to the point. Place is also BYOB too which we participated in. When it comes the dumplings, I'd call them grandma style meaning they're not like Michelin rated but more comforting and tastes like someone's grandma made em, and saying that as a total compliment. The shrimp dumplings were very shrimpy and the texture on the wrapper was really nice. The soup dumplings had a lovely broth inside. The pork and chive dumplings were delicious with the table side chili oil. My wife said her egg rolls were the best she's had in a real long time. The Szechuan chicken was a little under seasoned but the sauce and texture on the chicken was really nice. We recently had dinner here with friends and came to eat the Peking duck specifically, among other dishes. I thought the duck was excellent good portions and I love the fact that they used the Chinese tortillas instead of the fat white Bao that many other Dallas Chinese restaurants use for Peking duck. This place was packed and the staff was great! We knew it was excellent by the crowd that was there and the line out the door. We waited 40 mins to get seated on Sunday at 12:25. The dim sum was excellent as well as the Sizzling Beef Strips with Black Pepper Sauce!! And Kung Pao chicken. I didn't care for the bbq pork steamed buns. They were so busy they forgot the dumpling sauce and extra napkins. But happily brought them when asked. They don't serve any alcohol but they do serve really good food. The AC was not fully turned on and I was sweating sitting next to a window. Tried Zhang's Kitchen for lunch today and really enjoyed the food. This casual, family-owned spot is tucked into a strip mall and serves comforting Chinese dishes and handcrafted dim sum. We loved the shu mai, shark fin dumplings, and crab and fish maw soup. They also sell frozen dim sum up front if you want to take some home. Just a heads-up, there's no dim sum cart service. You have to order everything through your server. Unfortunately, the service was the only downside. We were seated and then completely forgotten. Solid dim sum experience! We stopped by around 11:45 AM on a Sunday and it was about 80% full. For three adults and a child, the bill came to $120 (with tip), which feels on par for DFW. The flavors were right on point. The stir-fried flat noodles had that nice 'wok hei' (breath of the wok), and the beef stomach and tendon were flavorful. Durian puffs were also tasty. My only critique is the temperature--the congee was lukewarm and the veggies were a little cold. Overall, decent portions and a good meal. We'll definitely visit again. read more

Loved it! It's been a while since I've been to dim sum but I was looking for a place that had thinner outer layers and generous portions of filling and they totally lived up to it. My favorites were the ham sui gok, it was crispy but still chewy and not too thick and the fried taro which had a lovely crunch and didn't taste like a mouthful of starch. The service was so good too, we were checked up on constantly and they kept taking away all our empty dishes, which really helps when you're eating dim sum. Okay, we've had mixed experiences here. Our food, this time, came out in reverse order (i.e. the dumpling last). The Singapore noodles and beef flat noodles did not come out together. It was properly was about an 8-10 minute waiting game. The Singapore noodles: 5/5 (these are absolutely amazing) Beef flat noodles: 4/5 (pretty good but not life altering & nowhere near as good as Uncle Zhou) Pork soup dumplings: 4/5 (most of the broth was absorbed into the dough by the time it got to us) Pork Shumai: 0/5 - these were essentially tough meatballs in a dumpling wrapper. Just not good. Service was clearly mediocre as they could not get our food out in order or stage placing the order so we would not get our entrees ahead of our dumplings. read more

Lo and behold; I've finally found a dim sum place I'm really really excited to go to. Pretty solid restaurant but will also be EXTREMELY packed during peak and rush times. The owner is super nice and personable with how she runs the place. Given anything and everything I'll make the 30 minute drive from uptown to this place. But let's go to the the review The hargow and schuimai (I'm terrible at spelling okay and I can't be bothered to correct it right now.) were super moist and flavorful. They didn't skimp on the fillings and were jammed packed with flavor. Ask for black vinegar if you can because it's more superior than the red. Turnip cakes were fried to a nice crispness and tender on the I side. Porridge - egg and pork is the staple for most congee. Quite delicious but I would prefer chunks instead of shredded, just my preference. Salt and pepper calamari was for sure best in show. Looked like turmeric in the batter that was seasoned. The spice was tantalizing. Super forward in flavor without being overwhelming. Durian fried rolls - pure durian pieces that were deep fried gave it a nice caramelized tone. Reminds me of the motherland of Thailand but a different twist. 10/10 bringing the husband here. The place will be packed and for sure loud when it's super busy. Ordered a variety of dim sum dishes and padded it with beef chow fun and HK styled beef with egg rice just in case I might still be hungry after the dim sum. I didn't get to try the beef with egg over rice since the boyfriend ate all of it, but he raved about it. The beef chow fun was good. Dim sum was also good. The ham sui gok was a little off for me though, it was undercooked or something. The turnip cake might've been my favorite for din sum though, so crispy! That's fine, not a huge deal. They made my order fresh and it took about 5-10 minutes. The customer service was friendly and they seemed attentive. My issue is with the food itself. I love the noodle rolls aka cheung fun that you get at dim sum places. They're hard to mess up, but this place successfully did it. I ordered the beef rice noodle and the fried dough rice noodle rolls and they were by far the worst I have ever had in my entire life. They were so disgusting I threw them in the trash. The noodle part was thick and oily. The beef was undercooked and a soggy mess. The fried dough was greasy. The soy sauce that you get with them was also absolutely terrible. The place was clean, but plain, light crowd on a weeknight. We were seated quickly by a very friendly staff. The menus was almost too much, but our server was there to help! We had soup dumplings, steamed dumplings, shrimp balls, noodles and orange chicken and it was all fantastic! The pork soup dumplings were out of this world! I've had them many places, but these were the best! We fed a party of three, still had to take some home and the cost was under $50. You can't beat that value. I understand the poor reviews now on my second visit. We spent $85 (not including tip) on our food and almost none of it was good. I did re-order the soup dumplings and shrimp balls I liked so much and found them to be pretty flavorless this time. I got a lot of dumplings, which were bland. I ordered Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce as an entree and it didn't taste like anything. My partner's sesame chicken was UNBELIEVABLY sweet. He was a trooper and ate probably five pieces but it was just not good. I left a couple of stars because of the impeccable service. The food just isn't good. I do still strongly recommend the sweet and sour chicken and Singapore noodles, and I wish I could try more entrees but I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

We ordered hot tea for the table, comes with pot and 4 cups, and water glasses as well. The phoenix claws and spare ribs were great, lots of meat and super juicy and flavorful. The shrimp dumplings and rice noodles were pretty good, just a little bland. The Chinese broccoli was quite odd, the oyster sauce was put on the side in a little sauce bowl which made the broccoli not very flavorful since you had to mix it in or dip it yourself. I went here with a group of friends for dinner on a Tuesday. I can't say this is my favorite Chinese place. There are so many good options for Chinese in DFW and this isn't in the top 10 for me. First off, we all ordered at the same time and our food didn't come out all at the same time. We had one member wait an extra 15 minutes after everyone else at the table got food. Essentially eating after her partner was completely done with dinner. The restaurant was essentially empty when we were there so it couldn't be blamed on other people needing food as well. The crab rangoons were just cream cheese little to no crab flavor to be found. We had some members not be able to eat them. The sesame chicken was so sweet that I wouldn't be able to finish my meal. It kind of reminded me of fair food. The fried rice had like nothing in it and it was all one color. No veg. The pan fried pork buns left more be desired. Overall not the best experience. I feel like I'm being harsh but there are so many amazing Chinese restaurants in north Dallas and this just isn't one of them. This is my honest opinion. read more
