B2. Beef with Peppers and Cilantro-

This is a solid choice for authentic Chinese food. We've been here a couple times and never been disappointed. I like the green beans a lot, and th dan dan noodles never fail. They're always friendly and the place is clean. It's one of our rotational places for good Chinese food in the Plano area so we will continue to return.

This is a lovely, locally owned Szechuan restaurant with the most kind and friendly service. There were several tables where the traditional family style service of Chinese dishes take place. We ordered the steak and tomato stew, kung pao chicken, eggplant with garlic and stir fried green beans. Everything was very good quality and flavor. The decor was nice and I enjoyed the chalkboard with the Chinese and English descriptions of the dishes and the lovely artwork. We would definitely return.

H2. Spicy Boiled Fish Fillet- didn't get a picture before we started eating but it looked and tasted so good!

Get the water boiled fish and Dan Dan noodles! We are always one of the only people there that are not Chinese, so while I can't speak to its authenticity, that fact alone speaks for itself. Loveeee this place.

I never realized this place was hidden in this plaza until I found it on Yelp! I'll get right to it and rate the dishes I tried. Szechuan fish soup: 5/5 - this was the best version I've had anywhere. The broth was very flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. The bite-sized pieces of fish were catfish I believe which is better than tilapia in my opinion. I couldn't get a photo since we devoured it so fast Dan Dan Noodles: 3/5 - the noodles had a nice chew to them, but the dish was slightly lacking in flavor, compared to others I've had. Mapu tofu: 3/5 - there was no ground pork in this dish, which I think would've added a lot of flavor. Eggplant with garlic sauce: 3.5/5 - this is usually one of my favorite dishes but again this dish was lacking in flavor, a bit compared to some other places. Spicy dumplings: 2/5 - this was my least favorite dish that we tried. It was bland and the wonton wrappers were breaking apart. Overall, Chongqing House was good but I prefer the taste of all these dishes at Wu Wei Din or Royal Szechuan (with the exception of the fish soup). Pros: Pricing was reasonable which is rare to find these days. The service was attentive. Cons: Music was a bit loud for lunchtime conversations.

Chinese food that is served and prepared well. Friendly staff and tasty food. Very generous serving and their food is best with jasmine tea to balance all the spices and oil. Place is very clean all the time. Great for bringing friends and family.

This places has the best combination fried rice hands down in my book no bs because to begin with, I'm a very picky eater and my combination fried rice has to be light on grease and the food fresh. This place has real authentic Chinese food I gave them 4 stars because they did forget the white rice on the kung pao chicken

V. Good vegetarian selection, no garlic no onion...what I tried: Hot and sour soup - the best I've tasted, with egg. It can be made without egg for vegans. Vegetable broth Dry Fried String Beans - never met dry fried string bean dish I didn't like Chinese Yam w/ black fungus - the yam I hear is a special dish, good crunch Spicy & Sour shredded potatoes - the Chinese way of making this dish not too starchy is to soak the potatoes which removes a lot of it. I hear that this way is good for the liver Ma Po Tofu - not bad Some cabbage dish - always a favorite Dessert - the rice cake with syrup something - made from sticky rice. Not my favorite but if it's yours, I think it's good

Mapo Tofu

Lunch today at Chongqing House in Plano. This is an authentic Szechuan restaurant that also has an Americanized Chinese lunch special menu and some Americanized items on the main menu. We ordered all authentic dishes. We started with their hot and sour soup, which was a bargain at $8.99 for a very large bowl. It was enough for 6 people at least, maybe 8. The soup was ok. Heavy on the white pepper but not enough black vinegar. There was a generous amount of pork in the soup. Definitely not my favorite version of this soup. We ordered two mains. Mapo Tofu and the Chongqing style chicken in pepper. The mapo tofu was good, but not as good as we had at Sichuan Folk. This dish had less ground meat, but it was tasty. The chicken dish was more like popcorn chicken. Mostly batter covering small bits of chicken. The Szechuan peppercorn powder in the batter was really overpowering. I like the hot and numbing experience but this seemed over the top. The best dish was the steamed A-Choy in garlic sauce. The leaves were crisp and flavorful. The white rice was very good. I don't usually comment on the rice but this was a high quality rice. My Filipino wife was impressed and that says a lot. The restrooms were clean. Overall it was good but I probably won't return. There are dozens of Szechuan places popping up all the time in Plano and Sichuan Folk is my favorite.

One of our favorite spots! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and service is quick. We keep coming back because it's consistently great every time.

Food is still delicious, but portions seemed to be a little small, especially for the spicy boiled fish fillet. I think their Kung Pao Chicken is one of the best, and the sautéed beef and onion was good too, sweet with flavor. But again a lot of onions and less beef. The wonton soup in chicken broth was alright, I wish there was a bit of ginger in the wonton or more salt in the soup as this lacked some flavor for me. Service is good, they try to be fast but they had a lot of take out orders making our food come out a bit later. The inside is very nice and clean however!

Lamb Skewers Kind of just okay. Pretty good flavor, but annoying to have to pick through each little toothpick. Pretty tender too. Has a smell that's just slightly off. Not bad overall though!

I've been in the DFW area for 4 years and had honestly been on a hunt for great Chinese food. After visiting Chongqing House..my search is over! With a wonderful assortment of traditional and non-traditional foods, this place is amazing. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was impeccably clean. Food was plentiful, fresh and full of flavor. This is my new go to spot that I'll gladly drive to Plano for!

Crispy chicken! Good stuff

The culinary experience was so over the top, I don't even know where to begin. IT.WAS.THAT.GREAT. It all started upon entering this smaller restaurant that has a peaceful ambiance, as we were cheerfully greeted by Jeanne, who knew we were arriving as our friend had called ahead. Snce we arrived a little early, and our friend was en route, we decided to try the scallion pancakes, with the Chengdu spicy dumplings and sesame bread which was enthusiastically recommended by Jeanne. The appetizers arrived and we all enjoyed them. The dumplings arrived in a spicy broth-like elixir that complemented the soft pillowy pockets of seasoned pork. The scallion pancakes were mediocre at best, but the sesame bread was amazing!! It had the perfect texture and savory flavor that was enjoyed by all. For our entrees, we ordered two dishes of the Stir Fried Shrimp with Yibin Chili and asparagus (extremely delicious), a spicy Clay Pot Fish, Beef and Napa Cabbage with spicy chili sauce (incredible spicy flavor!), Hot and Spicy Chicken (chunks of deep fried chicken, yum!!), Combination Fried Rice, and an order of the sauteed snow pea leaves. Everything arrived fresh and freshly prepared. Every entree we chose was exceptional! Our iced teas and ice waters were always refilled, and boy were we stuffed! I highly reccomend this restaurant if you're are looking for a more authentic Chinese dining expereince! Make sure to ask for Jeanne!

We come to this place once a month for take out usually either the medium or small size is our go to (great for home hot pot). Today we ordered a medium pot and the size was clearly smaller than usual. After spending a few minutes talking to the staff who reassured us this was medium so we just left. Then we get home, as we literally ordered a medium pot last week, this was clearly smaller than what we had last week. We even took out a container ordered a while ago for small which is the exact same size as the one we got today which is supposed to be a medium. It even feels lighter.... I guess this is shrink-flation? But seriously, it's only been a week....

I'm glad that I finally tried it though. My favorite part about this place was all the side dishes. They were all very high-quality and delicious. It was the first time I tried 1000 year-old egg. The presentation was beautiful and the Szechuan added a nice kick to it. The fried pork belly was crispy outside and still juicy inside. The fried bean curd was perhaps my favorite; a lightly breaded crispy exterior with a delicately soft interior. When you order the fish soup, you get to choose additional ingredients to add inside. We picked little mushrooms, wide noodles, and green leafy veg. The mushrooms were so small that they kind of got lost in the soup so I probably wouldn't recommend those. However, the wide noodles were excellent with a nice chewy texture. The soup itself was sour but not as sour as I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise. Next time I would like to try the combination, fish and beef soup. The homemade milk mochi was amazing. You cannot skip this dessert. 5-stars. The four of us split the soup for three and it ended up being around $30 per person. This was for lunch and we were very full afterwards.

They are serious about the spiciness here! If you love heat, this is your place, though I'll probably stick to the milder broths next time. The broth was well-flavored and the meats were excellent quality. Compared to other hot pots, the vegetable selection is a bit more limited, and they offer a variety of paid drinks like milk tea and canned sodas. Pro Tip: Definitely save room for the Korean Shaved Ice. It's light, delicious, and way bigger than it looks in the photos--one was more than enough for me! We will definitely be back soon.

Including drinks and changing the seafood / freezer items was probably one of their best decision ever. While the interior layout remains mostly unchanged, prior to the change I was a little worried about their business because it seemed kind of slow after other new competition opened in the area but I'm happy to see them make changes for the better and thriving. Meat quality is excellent, service is friendly and now they include a homemade shaved ice dessert which is cool. The only unfortunate thing is that they've bumped up their "basic" menu quite a bit and kinda priced me out of what I would call a quick casual go-to meal. While I am happy they are doing well, it's just not a place that I can frequent anymore especially being that my wife doesn't eat that much anyway. Would have been nice to have a slightly lower tier option available as not everyone cares for Wagyu. Definitely still an authentic hot pot experience though!
