They are serious about the spiciness here! If you love heat, this is your place, though I'll probably stick to the milder broths next time. Compared to other hot pots, the vegetable selection is a bit more limited, and they offer a variety of paid drinks like milk tea and canned sodas. Pro Tip: Definitely save room for the Korean Shaved Ice. It's light, delicious, and way bigger than it looks in the photos--one was more than enough for me! I really have to say, since the change in management Squares has really stepped up their game offering Wagyu meats and more exotic items. Including drinks and changing the seafood / freezer items was probably one of their best decision ever. While the interior layout remains mostly unchanged, prior to the change I was a little worried about their business because it seemed kind of slow after other new competition opened in the area but I'm happy to see them make changes for the better and thriving. Meat quality is excellent, service is friendly and now they include a homemade shaved ice dessert which is cool. The only unfortunate thing is that they've bumped up their "basic" menu quite a bit and kinda priced me out of what I would call a quick casual go-to meal. While I am happy they are doing well, it's just not a place that I can frequent anymore especially being that my wife doesn't eat that much anyway. Would have been nice to have a slightly lower tier option available as not everyone cares for Wagyu. Definitely still an authentic hot pot experience though! read more

Maybe we came during an off day (Sunday) or maybe I've just had too many great hotpot meals in the area, but this place just didn't do it for me. Came here on recommendation from a few friends and decided to give a new spot a shot. Unfortunately, this was a miss for us. How it works: - AYCE option with different tiers of wagyu (e.g. american, australian) - Choose your broths (ended up with tomato and chicken) - Get all your veggies/seafoods/proteins (aside from meat) from the food bar - Order your meats through the ipad The meats are pretty decent, but frustrating to order. You can't actually submit the ipad order without the waiter confirming each and every time. Additionally, the broths were extremely underwhelming, so much so that we asked them for extra pure broth to try and get more flavor, and it still didn't have much taste. Waitstaff was nice and the inside has ample seating for larger parties. I just wish the meat and the broth had more to it. We chose the cheapest option, $40/person for ayce dinner. The wagyu meat is very tender. The $40 option had 3 types of wagyu meat to choose from. The lamb shoulder is alright. They only had one cut of lamb though. The Thai tea is really creamy and delicious. Drinking it helped curb the spiciness of the soup and my dipping sauce. The fried buns were not crispy at all, sadly. The wagyu on rice was very sweet so I didn't want to eat it. The bar where we could get vegetables and seafood was pretty standard. I noticed one of the fish fillets was still frozen so I didn't get it. The meat quality is high, but it's very expensive for hotpot here. The ordering process was not great. We could enter our options into the iPad, but we can't submit the order ourselves. We have to wait for a waiter to come to our table to submit the order. A little inconvenient if you ask me. We chose the big hotpot bowl (no dividers) and the strainer scoops kept falling into the soup. We had to fish them out with our chopsticks a lot. read more

I liked that this hot pot place has different price range we can choose depending on if we want better meat and addition of seafood. Also it was nice to know that we can choose our spicy level as well! We ended up doing the $49.99 one with normal spicy level. The meat that followed with this price range was pretty satisfying. My friend was raving about Squares, but I really think there are much better options for AYCE hot pot in the DFW area. It's a really small space, and the buffet area is pretty sad. You can't order by yourself, so you constantly flag down the waiters. Their dessert options are similar to ones you can find at a $15 buffet. The broths are just okay, and the meat options are alright as well. A lot of food options require extra charges. There's so many hot pot places in Plano now, and for the price of Squares, I guarantee you can find a better one with higher quality ingredients and broth. read more

This place was amazing! For about $32.99 (not including tax), you get to indulge in the all you can eat menu. The menu has a ton of options to choose from. At the end of our meal, we ordered about $200 worth of food between the 3 of us. If you are having a hard time deciding between a la carte or the all you can eat for $32.99, I would suggest you go with the all you can eat option! Service was pretty quick! Someone was always available to fill up our water or refill our broth! One of the downside of this was that you need to grab a server's attention to approve your order or refills via the iPad. However, they do have options for spice & numbing which is definitely new to me. The sauce bar has a ton of options and the AYCE menu has a multitude of meats to choose from. When your broth runs low they come back to refill it for you which is a great gesture. Service here is surprisingly very quick and attentive. My water never hit the bottom of the glass and I was always able to get ahold of a server. Squares Hot Pot is the all around best hot pot in the Dallas area. The AYCE offerings are on-point and there's plenty of selection without having to buy premium meats. I especially enjoy the breadsticks. Their broth is also except and the pots have cool dragons on them. Squares also shines as far as service. The staff are super attentive and nice and make sure you have what you need. Ambiance is ok. It's in a shopping center and the decor/vibe is nothing special. But you should not be at Squares if you want a cool vibe. Go to Hai Di Lao for that. That place is great too, but it's not AYCE and it's much more expensive. Squares on the other hand is very reasonable and you can usually get your moneys worth just from the meat alone. If you're a hot pot fan, you gotta come to squares. read more

Fantastic local hot pot place in Plano! We came on a weekday so it wasn't busy and the service was extremely quick. You have the option to get a la cart hot pot or AYCE for about $32 which is actually worth the money for the quality of the items here. There are a few options for broth flavors and my party ended up choosing the golden (chicken based) and mala/spicy. I liked that there was an option to decrease the spice, numbness, and oil levels of the spicy broth. Overall my favorite was the golden which had a great umami flavor and was wonderful to drink along with the food. There were several meat options such as pork belly, fatty beef, and lamb. There are a few premium options which cost a few more dollars so we avoided those. Overall my favorite was the fatty beef as it was very tender and juicy. Other food options included various meat/fish balls, tofu, fresh veggies, and noodles, all of which paired well with both broths we had. There is also a sauce bar, although it didn't have as many options compared to other places like Hai Di Lao. I still thought it was sufficient enough to pair with the hot pot items. So so good but whatever you do, do not wear white!!! I came here for a dinner with my girlfriend. We walked in (no reservations allowed except for parties above 7) and were immediately seated. The hostess was kind, familiar with the menu and explained how to order promptly. She also recommended some of her favorites which helped us order as well! We both ordered the all you can eat which allowed us to choose essentially anything on the menu. Before eating, we visited the sauce bar which provided many options to make your own sauces. I selected the sesame sauce and a garlic sauce, both I highly recommend! For broth, we split half spicy, half tomato mild soup. If you like spicy food, i'd recommend the normal spice level to start. For meat, we ordered the fatty beef, pork belly and lamb. The meat was fresh and tender, my favorite was the lamb overall! We ordered spinach, corn, and Napa cabbage for greens. The Napa cabbage was fresh and added a great munchie to the dish! My recommendation is to let everything cool for a few minutes before inhaling... it is HOT. I'd recommend wearing something dark and stretchy because you will eat a lot and it is messy.
