First time trying Jeng Chi and it was delicious. We ordered the scallion pancakes (could have been crunchier), egg rolls, the beef soup dumpling, shrimp fried dumplings, and steamed chicken dumplings! Everything was delicious and our server was attentive and quick. The restaurant was nicely decorated with cultural symbols or images. No complaints on cleanliness. It was our daughter's first time trying dumplings and she was excited about it and loved all the dumplings! Will be coming back soon. read more

Great ambience perfect for a special dinner or a casual night with friends. Service was honestly 10/10 which can be rare at busy restaurants. The menu had so many vegetarian options which can be hard to find sometimes at a Chinese restaurant. We shared the vegetable dumplings, cucumber salad, Mapo tofu and Chinese broccoli. The vegetable dumplings were perfect: flavorful and didn't fall apart will definitely try these again. Cucumber salad was spicy and fresh which was exactly what I wanted. Mapo tofu was yum-not as spicy but still delicious and went well. I wasn't a big fan of the Chinese broccoli but will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu read more

Absolutely phenomenal! We came here and got the stir fried green beans, the curry soup dumplings, and the pork and crab soup dumplings. It absolutely did not disappoint. Everything was delicious! The server we had, Jenny, was very kind and helpful while we were ordering. She was the perfect blend of attentive while also giving us our space. The whole place has a great and calm ambiance. We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The child loves their dumplings and was asking for us to go, so we went. We were seated and sat for quite some time before our server arrived. Once we had his attention, he was friendly and accommodating. Overall Jacob was a good server. I started with egg drop soup and it had deep flavor. I get it every time and it never disappoints. The kid had her own order of juicy steamed dumplings and ate them all! Impressive. The wife and I split and order of juicy steamed dumplings. We love them at Jeng Chi. They never disappoint. I had my fave, chicken in garlic sauce. it is very flavorful. The heat of the garlic is subtle and sneaks up on you. Half way through I am sweating. But it is so good I can't stop eating. The wife tried something new, Orange beef, and was not really a fan. The meat was rather tough and she did not enjoy the dish. Prices have really gone up! We used to get the same things we had this time for about about $60 and now it is double that amount, and we did even have alcohol. read more

Wasn't the biggest fan of this place the first time I tried it, but decided to go again and this time around, loved it! Ordered the Beef Juicy Steamed Dumplings, Chinese Style Lamb with Cumin Sauce (served with rice), and Combination Fried Rice. Everything tasted incredibly delicious. The dumplings were packed with flavor and had a good amount of filling, couldn't get enough of it! The lamb dish was super tasty and exceeded my expectations. The combination fried rice was good, nothing too special. Customer service was great and overall, really enjoyed the food. I'd love to go back and try some of their other items, especially other types of dumplings since that's their specialty. read more

Ummm listen here, they make their crab rangoon with REAL crab and its legit the same price as regular crab rangoons at other places. I don't even like crab rangoon but you best believe I tried it here! lol Overall, this is some of the most "authentic" Chinese you can get in the DFW area. Also, a lot of the dishes have MSG, but they will make it without MSG if you ask. read more

After a really long day and a late night I desperately wanted some Chinese food. They are extremely busy but still very attentive and nice. We got: Hot and sour soup $6 Dark beef broth $8 Curry dumplings $18 Fried rice Garlic sauce chicken Crab Rangoons Soups were great and good portion size probably could have gotten just that and been fine Rangoons took a second because usually it's not real crab. It was actually blue crab, which changes the texture and feel a little so after the first bite reminded me a little of clam chowder so I ended up liking it. The dumplings- well I wasn't really a fan. The wrapper had great texture that was just right but I wasn't a fan of the flavor and texture of the filling (personal preference no issue with quality) The garlic chicken my daughter loved it I thought it was too sweet Fried rice reminded me of China town in the Bay Area as a kid and just made me smile. The waiter was fantastic things slowed down so we had a great conversation over all good experience for sure read more

Been coming to Jeng chi for quite sometime now and it's our favorite dumpling restaurant. We visited this place again with my family today. The interior is traditionally designed as well. They have a large space for sitting and their food is always amazing. We got chicken dumplings, beef bell pepper with rice and Service is hit or miss but today the service was good as our waiter Jenni was super kind and attentive. I highly recommend this dumpling location. read more

WOW I have never eaten here before, but this was such an excellent experience. Our waiter, AARIES, was simply fantastic. He was so professional and caring all at the same time. Often times when a restaurant is slammed and literally over-busy, staff can loose their patience with patrons. Arries was exceptional the entire time we dined here. Now the variety of food we ordered was so delicious too, that I stuffed myself silly! Normally I stop when I'm full, but I just had to have another bite, then a second bite and so on... The portions were generous, so we even got to go boxes for our leftovers. Arries thank you for your phenomenal service!!! I'll definitely return to eat here, as soon as I get the chance to be back in Dallas and I'll definitely ask for you! read more

Came here on a Sunday evening and it was packed! We were concerned that the wait time and there wasn't one! There is a lot of space inside for seating and parties of all sizes. Our sister was very kind and informative and checked on us often which we appreciated. Our food came out piping hot and quick! I LOVED the orange chicken (way more than the sesame chicken). This place is near my house, so I'll be back for sure! read more

This place is so good. I dont know if this counts for ambiance, but if you've seen Rushhour, it felt like that. In a good way. There is a diverse number of diners. The food is on point. Like so good. I felt like I finally found good asian cuisine in DFW. The dumplings are so flavorful, actually our table split everything family style. I can say that everything we had was good I will say. You need a reservation. We went early. Like 530 early and as we walked in the place booked up quickly. We were lucky to get seated as quickly as we did. I highly recommend hitting this place up. You will not be disappointed. read more

By far the best soup dumpling that i have had anywhere except in Taiwan. All of their dishes are prepared when ordered. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of their menu and suggested choices to us. The black pepper beef was top-tier. The onions could have been cooked first much longer. The soup dumplings are addictive. The orange chicken is very flavorful. Great dinner. read more

A must try. My family and I came on a Friday night, about an hour before closing. And there was still a waitlist for seating! We didn't have to wait very long. But once we sat down, service was crazy fast! We ordered vegetable dumplings, hot and sour soup, spicy chicken with vegetables, and Kung Lao chicken. Everything was amazing. We love Chinese restaurants that also have authentic options, and this is the place to be. They even have a bakery area for items to-go and items including some of their sauces used in their entrees, noodles, and even dumplings. This is a place you must try when wanting Chinese food in the area. read more

Service, food and atmosphere were great, as always! The entrees are fresh and super flavorful. The staff makes us feel spot home!

We have been wanting to try this place out and finally found a night to make it happen. Started with some cocktails while waiting for our table. An Asian Pear Fizz for me and an Old Fashioned for my husband. The Asian Pear Fizz was a nice change or pace and quite refreshing. We started our meal with the Curry Chicken Juicy Dumplings, and they were really good. For dinner I went with the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles and added shredded chicken. The dish didn't have too much of a spicy kick, but I found it a bit dry. I asked for some additional sauce and wished I would have done it sooner as the chicken didn't have any flavor was pretty dry to start. My husband had the Fried Rice along with the Kung Pao Chicken. He liked the flavor of both dishes and the portion size filled him up. We look forward to coming back to try more of their dumpling options and other menu items. read more

Absolutely amazing dumplings!! The chili oil wonton was so good we ordered it twice during that lunch!! The service was super super friendly and fast. Our server knows so much about the food and also recommended the best time to visit the restaurant during different Chinese festivals. You can see they make the dumplings fresh. We were told that the grandma and grandpa come in early morning every day to hand made the dough for dumplings and noodles. The restaurant was very spacious and decorated with warm color Chinese art pieces. If you're in Dallas, you have to visit this restaurant!! read more

Jeng Chi was on my list for a long time and I finally made it over during my parents' visit. We enjoyed a variety of dishes and really loved the XLBs, the braised pork belly, and the shredded dried tofu with pork. The mapo tofu was solid, and the crispy spicy tiger shrimp was delightful but a bit too salty. The beef fried noodle was kind of boring and I would skip it next time. Service was good and our server made good recommendations. We didn't get anything from the bakery because my dad is watching his blood sugar. Maybe next time! read more

We had come to this restaurant from the early 2000s. The service was good when they were a small restaurant. As they became bigger, we noticed that the service did get worse. What happened yesterday, however, was really bad. The older Chinese lady (I am also Chinese) that greets customers and should have never been in a restaurant or any hospitality business. We had family guests with a special need kid that the lady immediately noticed. When I mentioned that the number of our party (8), I was immediately told that it would be an hour wait. I said okay, then she put us in the wait list as they were also people behind me waiting to be seated. She then mentioned that we should wait outside. It was 100 degrees on July 25th in the afternoon and there was still enough space in the area, so I felt strange when she mentioned that, but I moved on as I needed to communicate the wait to my guests. When I was communicating to one of my guests, the older lady approached us and told us that we needed to wait outside, instead of trying to seat the other big party. At that time, only 4 or us were in the area and in less than a minute the other large party were seated. I was disgusted with the way the lady treated us. Not only it was inconsiderate to make wait people wait outside when it was very hot outside and there was enough space inside, but also the way she treated Jeng-Chi's long time customers with a special need kid. Also, when we checked the wait list, we were on wait list no. 1. How was it possible that the wait time was said to be 1 hour when there were only us waiting after the other large party (6-7 people) was already seated, which happened shortly after she put my name in the wait list. There were also empty tables inside. As I was communicating with my other guests about the wait, we were then told that our table was ready. Such a big difference, from a 1 hour wait to a 5 minute wait. We decided not to have dinner in Jeng Chi anymore as the lady does not appear to have been trained in empathy and manner, or even common consideration toward kids. This shows that the lady tried to make us not to eat there after seeing my guests' kid. This is very unacceptable. Jeng Chi should not have the lady take any reservation from customers or even in any customer service role. read more

Had dinner here with a large group of friends. We ordered dishes family style. Really enjoyed the soup dumplings, which were hot, fresh, and full of flavor. They were easy to pick up and didn't break easily. The scallion pancake was also tasty and filling- a perfect appetizer to share! The green bean side dish was also one of my faves because of its full flavor! Our servers were incredibly nice and made sure our drinks were constantly refilled. Dishes came out fast. Delicious food, large portions. Great hot and sour soup. Even a medium size one is about a full meal!

Amazing restaurant! Lunch here was spectacular. The menu was super extensive and had so many options. It was so hard to choose what to get. Ended up getting the five spiced marinated eggs for an appetizer. They were presented so delicately and beautifully. This seasoning was perfect. For my entrée, I got the soup dumplings. They were hot and fresh, and they came with so many! It was also easy to get them off of the paper to eat. Our waitress was excellent. Service overall was very excellent. Waters were always topped off. The inside was clean and decorated for the new year. The restaurant is located in a complex that has a lot of other places to go like bakeries, other restaurants and grocery stores. There is a large parking lot for the complex and all the spaces are free. read more

This mom and pop restaurant has been a part of Richardson Chinatown for decades. Apparently they've renovated so it's spacious and has a bar and visible kitchen as well as the bakery. The food has always been authentic, fresh and delicious. We ordered dumplings, soup dumplings, fried rice, hot and sour soup, mapo tofu, and vegetarian noodles. The pork and leek dumplings were addictive so we ordered another round. Everything we got was hot and satisfying. Their new bar elevates the dining experience with special fusion drinks. It's rare to find an Asian restaurant with a good drink menu, nonetheless an extensive one. We met sweet bartender Anna and got her recommendations: the sparkling lemon drop, orange kombucha and Fu Dog cocktails - all were refreshing, tasty and unique. The Sparkling Lemon Drop was so amazing, I can't wait to come back again. Service was prompt, polite and professional. Highly recommend Jeng Chi for best Chinese food in DFW! read more

Can't go wrong here! Great soup dumplings! Great entrees! Great service. It does get crowded, so make a reservation when possible.

Quality Chinese food, affordable prices, clean restaurant, and fast friendly service. What more can you ask for? My friend and I cane in after church, the restaurant was moderately busy. We were seated right away and our waiter came over within 3 mins. We ordered the orange chicken, shrimp with garlic sauce, pork and shrimp wonton soup, and crab rangoon. Everything was delicious! The shrimp dish caught me off guard because it's typically sautéed shrimp in a brown garlic sauce with veggies. Their version is fried in a sweet garlic sauce. It tasted good but not what I was looking for. The orange chicken was a great portion and not too saucy. The star of the show was the wonton soup, probably the best I've had. I love that their crab rangoon is made with real crab meat. The one thing I wish they would change is offering fried rice as a side. We weren't able to even pay an up charge to change the white rice to fried rice. Otherwise, great restaurant. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

I always forget about this place because it's been here since I've moved to Richardson as a little kid. But every time I go back I'm reminded of how good their food is! Although it may seem a bit pricer than what you'd expect, their dishes are all so worth it. The place is clean and the serve is usually good. I love jeng chi. Their soup dumplings are awesome! Wish they never got rid of the lamb soup dumplings.. those were my favourite! I've tried almost everything on the menu and here is what I recommend: All their dumplings! So filling and delicious. The pork & crab, and curry chicken dumpling are my fav. I also love their noodle dishes or their vegetable dishes. Mongolian beef is good too. I usually try to order at least one vegetarian dish so my go to is either a vegetable delight or sautéed Chinese broccoli with garlic. A wonderful gem this place is! read more

Our server was really kind and got all of our orders down, and recommended us with different items that he enjoyed. The food was delicious-- my family ordered medium hot & sour soup, which was a good portion for 4, stir fried eggplant, which had an amazing sweet, savory taste, and pork and crab juicy dumplings, which were also great. The only thing I have to say is that the food came out relatively slowly, one after the other, but it was overall a great experience and I enjoyed the environment the restaurant had to offer. read more

I loved dragging my friends here!! The xlbs have gotten better from my last visit here (it was a while since I have ordered it again; last visit there was some weird goop coming from them, but i was so relieved that has been fixed). The scallion pancakes are always my favorite, as are the veggie dumplings! My friends wanted to order some of the entrees dishes, which i have never ever ordered in all the years going here, and they were decent! The fish was definitely some cheap white fish drenched in orange sauce, but that's such a crowd pleaser who can blame them. The cumin lamb was yummy, pretty americanized but still good read more

If you're looking for authentic, then Jeng Chi is a must try. We stopped by on a Saturday evening and it was packed. The wait was short and we were seated quickly. The place is a beehive of activity and Chinese charm, almost as much fun as the food. Green onion pancake, stir fried noodle, pork and shrimp dumplings, and the best fried fish with garlic I've had. Jeng Chi tries to ride the line between Americanized and traditional Chinese food with surprisingly good results. When we came on a weekend night, there was about a 20 minute wait. I noticed off the bat that most diners were non-Asian and the "Americanized" food options on the menu jumped out at me, so I wondered if I'd made a mistake coming. However, I was quickly humbled after trying the orange chicken. It was actually the best orange chicken I've ever eaten, and I'd 100% order it again! Nothing like what you'd find at Panda Express (though that has its own charm). I would actually highly recommend trying it. They're also well-known for their xiaolongbao - we ordered the regular 8pc, which tasted fine but were honestly pretty small and pricey for what they are. Would probably skip next time. Service was a bit slow but they were also really busy, and our server was very aware and tried his best with us, which was much appreciated! read more
