My friends took me here for my 60th birthday!! Outside of the perfect steaks and stellar service (a great big thank you to Brad our amazing waiter), the music stole the show!! They have this insanely talented musician who performs Friday and Saturday nights starting at 6:30 PM .. he literally has his stage on a landing pad halfway up the staircase with his own little music kingdom. One guy. Several instruments. Electric guitar and saxophone were played effortlessly. You can make requests, which adds to the fun! For example, "Sweet Caroline" was a song that everyone sang along throughout the restaurant lol. Then came something I didn't expect. This musician has made it his personal mission to play our National Anthem on Fridays and Saturdays 7pm sharp. Everyone naturally stood -up, the whole room joined in, hand over their hearts, so much patriotic passion and energy. It was truly beautiful to see people come together in that moment. And just when I thought the night couldn't get better, out came a birthday dessert .. a warm homemade cookie with ice cream and a real sparkler. It was a show stopper!! I haven't seen a sparkler since I was ten lol. Apparently, birthdays are a big deal here, because it felt like every table around us had their own sparkler birthday/ anniversary moment. Went to Texas for a friend's birthday dinner and had a great time! The restaurant is well set up and had live music playing. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I got the rack of lamb with whipped potatoes and roasted vegetables. The lamb chop came with 4 pieces and was grilled to a delicious medium rare. Have had many Filets over the years at this resturaunt. Although, I must say they are very tender but not one had the distinct flavor of a Filet Mignon. I did some research with other resturaunts and learned many steak houses have adopted this tradition and are selling a Filet which is nothing more than aged sirloin dressed up to look like a Filet Mignon and charging top dollar for it. Far be it a Filet Mignon which I was under the impression that I was getting here. Side dishes are not worth getting unless you want a hart attack. Straight up broccoli would be a welcome addition. A standard Baked potato would be nice but have been told those take to long to prepare. With that said I think they could prepare a baked potato in much shorter time that it takes to age their Filets. I will not go back due to their decision. I guess you can't ask how old an employee is that works there. Maybe they should post a sign at the door detailing what you can ask workers there. Only makes me wonder what else they are hiding. read more

That my friends, is what I found at Texas restaurant. And the beauty of this place doesn't stop there. The food - outstanding! I had the beef tips, with charred corn and mashed potatoes. The steak was very tender and cooked perfect. I had not eaten charred corn before today... and it's now my favorite side item. Have been here twice and have enjoyed it every time! Highly recommend for a celebration or just for a nice evening at a steakhouse. They also have private rooms for dining you can rent While the decor is different from your typical upscale steak restaurant, kind of kitschy, the service is on par with any nice steak place. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. Ambiance is fun and sometimes they have live music I recommend their sweet potatoe jalapeño soup. Any of their apps are really good. The steaks are standard. The desserts excel. Their cakes are always so moist and not too crazy sweet. I recommend the lemon cake! Our first trip to Dallas, we wanted the Texas steak. We looked here on Yelp for recommendations and came across this establishment. When we entered we were immediately greeted with smiles and we must have screamed "northerners" because we were getting lots of question lol. That was ok, and felt like we were meeting new family. We were seated quickly and we got our drinks taken care of quick. The room was fun - lots of Texas themed decorations adorned the walls and a constant flow of fun music was piped in. It took us a minute to realize that there was a live DJ working the music. The food was good, though nothing remarkable. The onion rings were fried perfectly. It got the flashed fried chicken and it was seasoned well and not dry. The side potatoes were a bit of a disappointment- was hoping for more crisp and they tasted like breakfast potatoes. The kids orders steaks and enjoyed them. We spent well over $200 for four of us and we didn't have any alcohol and shared 2 apps. Very pricey, but I didn't have anything to compare it to for the area. Would I go back? If it was my first time in Dallas I would say yes for the experience and good food. Food came out in a timely manner, and we got a lot of attention and care from our server. My dinner at Texas was one of my favorite meals during my stay in Richardson. We ordered delicious appetizers of calamari covered in a sweet chili sauce, lightly battered onion rings, and shrimp cocktail. I ordered the Steak Oskar, which was divine. The filet was perfectly medium rare, and it was topped with a good amount of crab and lovely hollandaise. Similarly, my coworkers enjoyed their choices. Really, the whole staff was great and we never had an empty glass. We both got the 8oz Filet Mignon and loved our meals. Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned! We finally made time to try this steakhouse and we were blown away by the big Texas welcome...literally. Our server Dana started us off with the warm welcome as she learned it wasn't only our first visit but also how we were new to Texas. She provided great service throughout the night. She was attentive and engaging without being overbearing. The ambiance of the restaurant gives you a warm vibe with art that is no doubt western and Texas. There are two levels of seating and rooms off to the sides for private events. My husband had the Delmonico (aka: ribeye) cooked medium. The meat was really tender and had an amazing flavor. Who knew the simplicity of salt, pepper, and butter could create such a tasty sear on meat. I went with the Texas Red Fish. I opted to have it flash fried. The portion was generous and the entire fish was tender and didn't taste overly oily or fried. I had a hard time trying not to eat it all! For our sides, I had the burnt corn, green beans and my husband had the green beans and mixed vegetables. The mixed vegetables and burnt corn were our favorite and I suspect butter was used in their preparation which added to their flavor. Throughout our meal, there were several of the restaurant management who stopped by our table to check on our experience and food. It was easy to share how much we were enjoying our meal. When Dana brought out the dessert tray, we were intrigued by all of the different offerings and politely said no thank you. We were surprised as we walked out that one of the restaurant management greeted us with a bag with two chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven sharing how much she appreciated our first visit and hoping we'd be back soon. I have to say the burnt corn was a disappointment, seemed like can corn with some red and green peppers that were not cooked. Also grilled veggies were not really grilled. We were very well taken care of by staff (multiple waiters stopped by to check on us) We were sat on the service floor with a good view but I'm sure you can request the first if you don't want to climb stairs. They had a live musician at the time. Not sure if requested by a customer but our dinner service was paused with him playing the national anthem. Where everyone in the restaurant paused and stood up to pay respects. Not sure if this happens often but it did catch us a bit off guard. The food was great, but my husband did state his sides could've been a bit more seasoned or just a tad bit better. Bang bang shrimp for appetizer was overcooked making it rubbery. Bread pudding was good and chocolate praline pecan ice cream . I can't wait to go back and try their signature dish. Waitress made great recommendations on food. We had no wait but, times it before dinner rush-the line was backed up once we left. Recommend Texas for the ambiance, cocktails and live saxophone.
