Love and War is near a haunted house that my friends and I go to regularly. I realized I hadn't ever been to one of these; and if I had it was when I was young enough to not remember. My husband and I had plans before the haunt, and needed to kill time and grab food so we went ahead and came here. Staff did an outstanding job. Food was decent enough; though on the higher end of what I like too pay at our more locally owned favorites. We have a few more places that I would like to try in the area; but this is a reasonable spot if we have folks that would prefer to try something they already know vs something new.

My wife and I came up here for dinner in between events we had in the area. There are things like the haunted house nearby. It also looks like they regularly have live music in the bar area; but if you want to sit in a different area there is that available. Prices are a little higher than what we pay for similar things at hole in the wall places we go; but about average for what we expect in the area for sit down chains. I enjoyed the seasoning they added to their fried pickles and my meal was decent enough. Not sure if we will make regular visits when we are over here because there are a number of other places we want to try near by; but we at least know there are options here we would try if we do make it back over here again.

Chicken fried steak with a side of cole slaw $16 September 2024

Never heard of this place.. it's nice if you're in the area. Early weekend night and there was no wait. It was decently busy though. The restaurant is pretty big. Parking lot was pretty full by the end of the night. It is really loud, so hard to have a conversation I think... Menu is HUGE and everybody will find something they want! Everything from tex mex to typical American. I feel like steaks are a go to for a lot of people. Food portions are big too!! Got the chicken fried steak ($16) and comes with a side. Got a side of cole slaw. I wish there was more cole slaw - I enjoyed it. The chicken fried steak was HUGEEE though. Definitely couldn't finish it. And it'd be good for 2 people. Not the healthiest choice, but I liked it. Food came out faster than expected w/ how busy it was. Service was fine. I think it's "hidden" in the sense it's not blown up on social media but a decent amount of people know about it! They do shows also.

Service was okay, bought the chicken sandwich which was also okay.. I tipped $20 and bought my pecan pie to-go, when I got home I open everything carefully and ate half way through until I found a hair.. will not be returning.

Service was great for a busy concert night seeing Josh Ward. Didn't eat but enjoyed our cocktails!

First time ever coming here and left a little disappointed. However, still may be worth a shot for you! We came in just after 5pm on a Friday and we were the ONLY customers there. We stoop at the front for maybe 2 minutes before an employee walked by. We thought maybe they were closed but the employee said no, they were open. After we got sat, our server was really nice and friendly. We order the Wagon Wheel (fried pickles) as an appetizer. They were pretty good. My wife ordered the brisket and okra. She was not a big fan of her plate. Said the okra was over salted and the brisket was mediocre. I did try the okra and can confirm, it was a bit salty. I ordered the wild roasted boar. It was actually really good! The onions, mushrooms and the meat were all seasoned really well. The boar was very tender and flavorful. I think maybe we just came on an off night, it seems like it may be a really nice spot to eat and drink.

Rating: 2.5 stars I came with a group of four for a musical fundraiser. We paid a cover of 15 dollars per person and we're allowed to sit in the covered "outdoor" seating area. We could choose any seat we wanted. The space was large and nice. They mostly had elevated tables and chairs which were on a slant and uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time though. Service was pretty abysmal. There was only two servers for the whole area and so it took forever to get food and drinks or even orders stated. We ordered WAGON WHEELS which was a fried pickle appetizer for the table. The fried pickles were nice and yummy and the Smokey ranch dressing was delicious. Portion size was also huge. Definitely a must order. For my main I ordered the SHRIMP TEXANA. There was only a small handful of plump shrimp. Flavor was ok and they were very well cooked and juicy. They gave a huge scoop of pico on the side which was way more than was needed with the small amount of shrimp they gave. The order came with one side so I ordered the steamed veggies and also mashed potatoes as an extra side. The mashed potatoes were yummy and came with a great cream gravy. The veggies unfortunately were very lacking and not good at all. All in all, a disappointing night but at least there was a pro of lots of live music to enjoy while eating our food.

Great place to sit on the patio & listen to live music. Typical bar type food that is pretty darn good.

We have not eaten here in some time but this place definitely could use a face lift and some serious attention to cleanliness!

The food was okay nothing to write home about, but if we are in the mood for bar food, and live music we will definitely be back.

You have to seat yourself - there were enough vacant tables to pick from. Within a few minutes, our server was over and helped us narrow down on what we wanted to order. I went for a Crushed Velvet Mule in addition to Cali, Buffalo (both grilled versions) and Burg B Q. We told our server that between me and my wife, we will be sharing the chicken sandwich and hence requested that it be sliced into 2. Not only were the burgers sliced, it was served in separate plates with sides as well - that was a really nice touch. Cali was a bit bland, Buffalo and Burg B Q were both really nice. The drink was nice as well. There was live music but we were seated near a table that was pretty boisterous, could hardly hear anything. The outdoor seating overlooking greenery and events they do at the restaurant make the place quite different - we will definitely be back soon to try other options on the menu.

Super causal bar/night club with live music that charges $10 for admission (go through the…read morerestaurant side). We stumbled in there on a Friday night when Mars Hill was playing. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. Mars Hill is a killer band who plays anything from the Temptations to Prince and Sir Mix-a-Lot to Chris Stapleton. The female lead singer was the rocker, male lead singer was the country star, and the trumpet player, saxophonist, and trombonist each rapped! What?! The guitar player killed it as well. There's a small strip of "dance floor" space where plenty of people were dancing all night. There's reentry so feel free to come and go as you please. I believe you can also bring food from next door into the bar. There are over 10 small tables you can gather around for a close up of the band. Our server was really nice and quick. The only questionable thing was that we ordered four Old-Fashioned, one Shiner, and three shots totalling $120. I think that's pretty hefty for a casual joint. I heard they play jazz only on Mondays. We'll have to check that out soon!

We went from my birthday after the first lounge we went to disappointed in the music. This place did not disappoint. The bands on Friday night was eclectic and fun playing hits from the 70s, all the way through the 2000s! The crowd was equally eclectic, but there was no judgment, lots of fun and plenty of dancing and singing along. The place is small, tiny and divey, but so much fun.

It's a cool restaurant that has a lot of seating, and cool decor with Guitars displayed on the wall and a small stage for performers. We walked up to where you order. It was counter service and the guy that took our order was laid back. We paid, he gave us a number and then we chose a place to sit and waited for our food. We ordered several items to share. We started off with a charcuterie board that had meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, and toasted bread. It was really good. The bread was able to hold the ingredients and was nice and crispy but not overly crispy. The meats were good and the different cheeses were flavorful with different textures. The fruit was fresh and the nuts were a nice crunchy addition. Very yummy start. We also shared the Tejas Nachos with Brisket. The Nachos come with tortilla chips covered in cheese, queso, jalapenos, tomatoes, and crema. They were okay. The Brisket was plentiful. There was a lot of cheese and queso spread out all over the nachos. It was a little too much. The chips got soggier the closer you got to the bottom of the pile. Our last shared item was the ZZ Top BBQ Flatbread. It was okay. It came with an overabundance of cheese. It also came with jalapenos, BBQ sauce, and we ordered it with Chicken. It was okay. The cheese was gooey but overwhelming. The jalapenos added a spicy flavor and the BBQ sauce was tasty. Overall the restaurant has a cool atmosphere with good service. The counter service, ordering and paying process was quick and easy. Everytime someone brought our food to us they were friendly. The food was okay and literally very cheesy.

We opted for the lounge area as the seat offered to us there was better to our preference. The tables are packed quiet tightly which i dont like personally but i get it. That tidbit aside it is definitely a cool environment. Service was really nice and the food we ordered was great. I presume it's the same menu as J Theodore so I'm going to have to try that now for a more restaurant style meal. This is a cool place to hang out and bring friends imo. Since we don't really drink we'll probably end up at the restaurant next time as it's not easy to eat on tiny tables. It's a bar/lounge after all.
