I have been driving by this place for years. This was our first time visiting this eatery. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. Lita's has a current restaurant score of 91 with Plano Health Dept. There were about 7 other customers in the restaurant upon arrival. We were greeted very well by the greeter and had a good choice of seating to choose from. My very first impression was on how clean the restaurant appeared to be. White table cloths on all tables. Clean wall to wall mirrors and clean floors. Good service from the server, Edgar. A gentleman who appeared to be the owner/manager came by our table welcoming us and checking whether everything was okay. We had Lita-Rita, Queso Blanco, Tacos Al Pastor, and Tilapia ala Mexicana and a free dessert. Overall, the food quality and taste was average. Never a stellar performer,Litas has always been a convenient Latin meal when you don't want to think about it or drive too far. My last couple of visits have been just ok. The one positive tonight is the drinks are now up to speed. My Margarita was great which hasn't happened before. I suspect the new owner realized he had to "bring it" with the cocktail. We were warmly greeted right away by the hostess, who asked our seating preference, table or booth, which was a nice touch. Our waiter was quick to take our drink order, and we were soon served a chips and salsa trio featuring red and green salsa along with a creamy black bean dip. These were little dishes, so if you're hungry and eat salsa quickly, be prepared to ask for more. The green salsa and black bean dip were fresh and flavorful, and we really enjoyed both. However, we didn't care for the red salsa, it was unlike anything we've had before and leaned heavily toward a tomato paste flavor. Quite a bummer. I ordered the El Uber Swirl frozen margarita, and it was incredibly refreshing, perfect for a warm Texas day. I give this drink an A+! We shared Lita's Platter, which included a bowl of queso, a small scoop of fresh guacamole, four chicken flautitas, three loaded beef and chicken fajita nachos, four chicken fajita quesadillas, pickled jalapeños, and small portions of sour cream and pico de gallo. A unique twist was the kale and cabbage salad served underneath the flautitas, lightly dressed in vinaigrette. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The restaurant itself is cozy and comfortable, not overly large but has a warm atmosphere. The decor includes authentic Mexican touches, and there's a fountain in the center of the dining room that adds to the ambiance. We visited at 11:30 am on a Saturday and it was pleasantly quiet. There's also a covered patio with sun shades that looked like a nice spot to enjoy a meal outside. We definitely recommend giving Lita's a try. This small Mexican restaurant is a gem hidden off the main street. If you prefer a local restaurant over a franchise, come check this one out. We came in early on a weekday night. There was no wait at all, and we were seated right away. We ordered their chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, a salad with salmon, and a soup. The enchiladas were wonderful --the shredded chicken was moist and savory, and the mole sauce was a delightful blend of spicy, smoky, and sweet notes. The tortilla soup was also rich and delicious. The kale salad was fresh, and the salmon was nicely grilled to perfection. Almost forgot. We loved their salsa and tortillas chips before our main course. It also came with a black bean dip. It was nice and creamy! We liked it so much that we asked for another serving :) The service was friendly, and the vibe was casual and inviting. Yikes, where or where do I begin. My close friends and I wanted to enjoy good times at a local, non-chain Tex-Mex restaurant, and I suggested this place, and while I haven't been here in a few years, I always had fond memories of a good time and a really good meal here. Well, that was then, now is now. The atmosphere was okay, with loud 80's music playing, which didn't fit very well with the Tex-Mex theme. It wasn't busy there as there were quite a few empty tables. We were a table of five guests, and our server seemed like he was prompt and courteous. Our server Brian B. promptly brought out our drinks, and took our food order. We all ordered our entrees, and I decided to add a cup of queso blanco as a little extra to the complimentary trio of salsas and chips they already provide. After a short period of time, the entrees start trickling out of the kitchen. Tacos al carbon, the enchiladas especial, and another enchilada plate but my plate (carne asada with black beans and flour tortillas) and my lady friend's plate (grilled tilapia with no rice and extra vegetables) were missing in action. Our server then comes out with the queso blanco, and tells us our plates will be out in a few minutes. A woman approaches our table and asks how is everything, and we mentioned that our plates haven't arrived yet, so she offered to go to the kitchen to get a status update. Well, she returns and tells us that there was an "accident" with my plate and they were remaking it. Things that make you go hmmmmm. So our plates finally make it out of the kitchen, and the tilapia came out with extra vegetables, plus a double serving of rice. Weird. My plate comes out with refried beans instead of the black beans. Not once did the server come check on us, especially after the "accident" in the kitchen. He never refilled our drinks, too forever to check on us to see if we wanted to-go containers. We got our checks and two of the three check had a 20% service fee on them - we were a party of five. And the checks were not split properly, so that took forever and a day to have them rectify it. I finally asked for a manager, and it took three attempts to get the manager to our table. I explained what a disaster the meal was, and that we needed the service fee removed, which she gladly did. She did take a whole whopping 15% off our two checks with the late entrees, and she was apologetic, but the whole experience will make me not want to return there for a meal. read more

Came here for a late dinner with family on a hot summer Tuesday...an hr before they closed. I was here 6 yrs ago, so was interested to see what's changed and try anything new. We were seated quickly. We opted for the patio but soon realized it was hot, and found ourselves in a battle with flies. The fans were not working either. Annie was our server. She looked overwhelmed at first but warmed up later on. We ordered the following. Drinks: $10 El Uber - refreshing, potent. $11 La Picosa - spicy margarita. Decent. Food: $9.99 - 3 Crispy Tacos - Beef with rice and beans. Yummy. $5.99 - Cheese Kids Quesadilla with rice and beans. $5.99 - Kids Crispy Tacos with fries. Lovely. Most important element for us as a family is food. Their chips and accompanying Salsa, melted cheese & the beans were all spot on. The servers gave us a replenishment of the first round of chips as well, since we ended up relishing it. The melted cheese is very spicy, go easy on them - even for a family that is used to extra spice levels, this was a little too hot. My wife doesn't usually like the Verde at restaurants but she really loved it at Lita's. We ordered a Paneer Tikka Fajita and a serving of Chicken Tikka Tacos - sufficient quantity for us. I had the Fajita and with the spiked up spice from the melted cheese, it really hit the mark for me. Our daughter had the Chicken Tikka, she also enjoyed her dish. Our server was Natalie, she was very cheerful, well trained, mild mannered and gave us recommendations. We sat in the patio since we had taken our fur baby - there was no one else in the patio which allowed us to have our own private space!! 3rd time here since it's a local Mexican restaurant. 1st time was decent. 2nd time we came in on a Saturday afternoon with out of town family (party of 5) and we were 1 of 2 tables. Service was extremely slow and server never refilled anything. But food is decent. So we decided to give them a 3rd try on a Friday night. We got off work late and it is close to time. Showed up at 745pm. The restaurant was 1/3 full and it was a 30 min wait for 2 ppl. Sat down at 8pm. Another couple sat down about 15ish min after us. They got their food and 30 min later we are still waiting. 9pm. We left. Had 1 drink, chips and salsa. And they still had us pay $6.99 for the drink. Stopped by here for dinner, and the food was amazing. Started with the queso blanco and that was so creamy! I got the fish tacos for the entree and it tasted so good. I also got the habanero salsa to dip it with, that salsa was insanely tasty and got a good kick to it. To finish off dinner I got the brownie with ice cream. That was the chocolatiest soft warm brownie, and a generous scoop of ice cream and chocolate fudge on it too. Went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. Chips were crispy and warm and the salsa trio was excellent. Ordered enchiladas especiales and shredded chicken poblano. food served promptly and hot. Presentation was superb. Hubby was impressed with the enchiladas and throughly enjoyed his meal. The poblano itself was delicious but not a fan of the tomatillo sauce and it was swimming in it. The rice was very good as were the beans. Service was impeccable Was disappointed the website offers some drinks as one price yet customers were charged more at billing. My wife like the green sauce best, I liked the red. I am a crispy beef fan and theirs was a knockout! Wife got the cheese enchilada with chile con carne and a street carne asada taco. This was my first time being here and won't return. I had the chicken enchiladas with sour cream and hibiscus sauce. The sauce tasted like soap and the chicken was a little dry. Also when asking for lemon slices for our waters, the waitress handed them to us with her bare hands. The table we were at was so very close to the next one, couple of inches more and we would be rubbing elbows. We had to flag someone down after waiting for ten minutes ,since no one showed up to get us water/drinks. We ordered a bowl of queso, they had complimentary salsas which were no good. The queso is my least favorite from the hundred plus different restaurants at which I had queso, neither our little kids nor we enjoyed it. The waiter said that's how it is. The bean dip that was complimentary was salty, the salsa verde was tasteless and the tomato salsa felt like straight out of a bottle. The chips were not good too. We ordered the enchilada de mole which was mediocre and the paneer fajitas, the fajitas were the only thing that was good at this place. We just tried Lita's for the first time....what a terrible experience! We placed a to go order and 1. They were out of one the ingredients for one of the meals, so we gave them a substitute choice; it cost more and they couldn't figure out how to charge us the extra amount, 2. We ordered 2 margaritas and they were left out of the order, 3. We ordered the brisket flautas and received chicken, 4. The cheese enchiladas were awful. When I called about the missing margaritas, they did say they would credit us for them. Otherwise....don't waste your money. read more

I have been to Lisa's before in the past for happy hour but tonight we dined in due to a restaurant we wanted to go to being too crowded. Service on our visit was not good. They did not have enough servers for the crowd. Some large tables and they just couldn't keep up. Drinks were good, had to ask for things several times. Waitress brought a lime in her hand and handed to us when they had left a lime off our beer. That is AWFUL! Food wasn't bad but all the chicken for enchiladas, flautas etc is so much dark meat which most restaurants don't use. I didn't care for it at all but that is my preference. We very much enjoyed our meal here. We both ordered enchiladas. Mine were chicken with tomatillo sauce. Delicious! My husband got the Enchiladas Especiallos (sp?)...cheese topped with mole, fajita beef and onion. Those were fabulous! The rice had a nice balanced flavor and was cooked perfectly. We chose black beans, which I wouldn't do next time but only because they were the same consistency as the ones they serve free with the salsas and chips. By the way...you can ask for a hotter salsa and they'll bring you two that are definitely a kick to your mouth! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the chips were the thick kind and I prefer the thin ones...but they were fresh and good. Our waitress was great. I had the Lita's Pollo Especial: Chicken breast topped with a cream sauce, sautéed poblanos, mushrooms & onion served with rice, vegetables and avocado slice. Hubs had tempura fish tacos. So so good. Beautiful presentation. Cocktails were the yum! I've been going to Lita's for years, it's our family's mainstay. This is not a typical Tex-Mex place serving plastic queso from a can. It's authentic Mexican (which we love as we visit Mexico often). Think fresh ingredients, dishes with lots of veggies and service staff that is typically attentive. The Choriqueso is a family favorite- my kids beg for it. It's fresh melted cheeses with veggies and chorizo, served with soft tortillas. The Pollo Especial is my favorite, but everything is good - from the appetizers to the salads, tacos, enchiladas . . .
